Our experience at Fred Astaire Dance Studio was absolutely fantastic, and a huge part of that was thanks to Mick. His expertise was instrumental in helping us choreograph the most amazing first dance for our wedding.

He was incredibly patient, professional, and talented, and he made the entire process so much fun. Thanks to him, we felt confident and looked incredible on the dance floor. We highly recommend Fred Astaire Dance Studio, especially Mick, for any couple looking to create a memorable first dance!

While the majority of our work was with Mick, we did have a few sessions with Sara, and she was phenomenal as well.

Fred Astaire Hendersonville is my happy place. This group of people is warm and caring, and the staff are like family. At a time when I was away for an extended period for a family matter, they continued to check in. They were with me through one of the hardest times in my life and welcomed me back with great big hugs and so much love when I returned. The positive atmosphere is not by accident. Mick is a fantastic leader, and every person on staff is wonderful. They truly live the promise to enrich lives through the positive transforming power of dance. They meet people where they are and inspire them to grow.

You would be hard pressed to find a studio better than this one. I started with a wedding package and stayed because of the confidence, sense of community, friendships and love of dance that I have developed along the way. This studio offers a variety of packages to fit your needs but don't feel like you are limited to the curriculum and structure that is offered. This studio is very much student led and if you communicate what you are interested in then the instructors will make sure to accommodate you. That's another thing I just cannot rave enough about is the instructors. I have had the opportunity to work with each one and have had positive experiences no matter who I am working with. The level of talent in the staff of that studio is unbelievable. They put the Pro in professional, but you'd never know because everyone there is humble and kind. They genuinely want to make their students comfortable and confident within themselves. If you are lucky enough to get to see them unleash their full potential please just make sure your shoes are on extra tight because they will knock your socks off.

My husband and I have been taking dance lessons here for about ten months and absolutely love it! It’s lovely to have one on one time with him and dancing brings couples close - literally and figuratively. All the instructors but in particular our regular instructor Maxhana is knowledgeable, kind, funny, beautiful in motion and knows when to push us and when to take her time. The dance parties are lit and group classes add another element you can’t get in a private and a bit of friendly competition. I really enjoy our investment in ourselves and highly recommend to anyone!

Great dance instructors, poor management. We paid for 5 private lessons and we were not explicitly told about a cancellation policy when my partner became ill one evening. We asked to cancel and reschedule via voicemail and never received a call back, even though their confirmation emails ask “if you cannot make this appointment, please contact the dance studio ahead of time”. Upon what we were to believe was our 5th and final dance lesson (previously scheduled by a dance instructor and confirmed by two separate instructors) once we arrived we were told that due to the previous cancellation/attempt to reschedule that this session would now cost $125. We were told that they tried to reach back out to us via voicemail but neither of us received a call. This left us feeling misled and taken advantage of.

My husband and I started dancing at Fred Astaire almost 2 years ago. Through the last two years, we have learned so much and have extended our family with our dance family. Mick, the owner, has been awesome to work with. He challenges us in the studio and truly cares about the relationship he builds with his students and instructors. We had our first introductory lesson and Natalie and Ola were very warm and welcoming. My partner was concerned about dancing and by the end of the session we were able to do a basic foxtrot.

We continued dancing regularly. Ola got my partner prepared to dance the father/daughter dance at his daughters wedding while Andrey taught me how to do more European style dances.

Andrey was an outstanding instructor and in a matter of months had me doing several dances including quickstep and jive.

Updated- with recent changes of instructors and owners, we haven’t returned.

After trying other dance studios, this is the best dance studio in Hendersonville. The instructors are amazing and put there all into classes and make you feel comfortable at any level. Great value and you learn a ton! If you want to learn dance, this is the place to go!

This place is amazing! I can't recommend them highly enough. If you've ever thought about learning to dance-- even if you think you can't-- you should really check them out. Natalie and Joe Joe are phenomenal instructors, and they create a welcoming, encouraging environment for dancers of all levels and abilities...especially beginners! Personalized private lessons build the foundations, and group lessons (and dance parties!) help build competency and confidence. Whatever you would like to get out of it, you can find it here. I have been dancing for 5+ years. I have done private lessons at FADS as well as group classes at FADS and other studios in the Tennessee area. I truly get the most out of private lessons with Nat or JoeJoe; it's the way that they area able to breakdown patterns and explain movement in multiple different ways when my brain gets stuck where a concept goes over my head, they instantly have another way to explain it that allows me to comprehend and my dance ability to grow. Working with them privately, my dance is able to grow in leaps and bounds. I'm the type where if I'm not always noticing progress I get down on myself. Just when I start to feel stagnant, (it's become predictable at this point where I actually look forward to feeling like this) I can count on the culmination of our lessons and practicing as often as possible, that my abilities will make a huge improvement- it just happens. Nat and JoeJoe have been directly responsible for this growth and I truly appreciate it. 🙏 It makes it easy to stay consistent and dedicated with people so talented and personable.
Not only have they taught me how to dance but how to truly enjoy it. Helping me break through mental barriers that were keeping me from absolutely letting loose and focus on having fun was just as important, if not more, as all the moves in the world. I had the moves, I was just too hard and critical of myself. It took many teachers and years for me to understand this and I don't know if I ever would of without Nat and JoeJoe! Thank you for helping my dance evolve and taking me to levels I never thought possible. ❤

I have had the pleasure of dancing at the Morristown NJ Studio for the past 5 years and LOVED working with and knowing Natalie!! She is an excellent dancer, instructor and coach. Her energy, positivity, and ability to explain and demonstrate made her classes a favorite among most! There were several of us that were lucky and flexible enough to attend her Thursday afternoon Technique class... and that was always, always worthwhile! I was also lucky enough to participate in two formation groups that she/we took to competitions. Wow... she never held back her expectations, her standards, and her belief in us. I learned so much, had so much fun, and was so proud of what we were able to accomplish! Mostly though.. I miss her energy at the studio... she laughs easily, loves generously, wears her passions on her sleeve... and is always "real" and "authentic"... which is very important to me. I miss having her in Morristown.. but she is destined for greatness and I am confident her new studio in Hendersonville will succeed.
My advice: Don't miss the opportunity to learn from her, you will never regret it! You will always remember it! She is amazing!!

She is an excellent teacher with an exuberant personality that you can't help but love. Because of Natalie's teaching, my dancing improved immensely. Natalie was my dance instructor at the Morristown, NJ FADS branch. Under her guidance, instruction, and encouragement, she took my dance experience to a higher gear. Natalie Duke Honkonen was my first female teacher when I started dancing in Morristown, NJ. I was always in awe about how beautiful she moves and thought that I would never ever do anything like that. My wife and I have been taking lessons at FADS in Morristown, NJ for about a year and a half. Natalie was my first instructor, and I can credit her for my addiction!

It's been a great experience working one-on-one with Natalie and all the different instructors that I’ve been working with since she relocated and opened her own studio. I truly wish she was still local, but I wish her and Joe Joe the best of luck and I hope to see them at a competition soon!

She even choreographed a routine for us to do in the 2019 Holiday Showcase, and "convinced" me to compete in early 2020.

As a raw beginner who wanted to learn some basic steps so I could keep up with my more skilled and experienced SO, Natalie was the perfect teacher.
