No gym could beat Gold's Gym in Hixson! The staff? WONDERFUL! The facility? Clean, inviting with experienced, helpful
folks when you walk through the front door. Also, in my opinion, Gold's has the best trainers, not only in Chattanooga, but probably in the state ....Justin and Tay! They KNOW what they're doing and they both guide their clients in a careful and precise manner to achieve the most that can be achieved! Cannot say enough 'good' about Gold's, Hixson!

Buyer Beware. Misleading and Misrepresented Membership Contracts. College student short term summer membership was not as what was agreed to and misrepresented as such. Why would a college student in town for three months agree to a year long contract? There are better options nearby.

The equipment is not well maintained and broken or worn equipment does not get repaired or replaced in a timely manner. There is a lot of wasted space that seems to have been forgotten and unused. Also, the gym is filled with people constantly filming themselves and taking pictures. It’s awkward and uncomfortable when you’re minding your own business and you have to be concerned about not getting filmed in someone else’s video they are going to plaster all over the internet. If you’ve never been a an actual quality gym you might think this is ok but otherwise it’s disappointing. Would not recommend.

Love the vibe here. I live downtown Chattanooga and refuse to go to the location there because me and my girlfriend both prefer the hixson location. Tons of equipment, always have more than I need. The bathrooms could use a lot of frequent TLC but would def recommend this gym

I have been a member of the Hixson, TN location since October 2023. In what I can confidently say has been the last 6 weeks, there has been a noticeable level of disorganization on the gym floor. I have 2 photographs in the last 4 days of multiple weight plates, barbells, step-up boxes, and dumbbells strewn about. Last week, I had seen them in a high traffic walkway between the former spin room and the free weight sections. This morning; five 45lb plates stacked in the middle of the floor, two barbells laying haphazardly next to them, step up boxes in proximity to that…. All in a heavily used section of the pit. Of other issues to note….. lack of paper towel dispensers being refilled including the disinfectant spray bottles. The towel and spray issue has been going on far longer than the lack of organization with weights. I understand as members, we are supposed to re rack our own weights. However, I have personally witnessed Hixson’s male trainer, Tate, finish a portion of a personal training session in The Pit and head off to the next exercise without re racking his clients bars, plates, kettlebells, as well as any step up platforms. Furthermore, he seems to have zero enthusiasm for his personal training career. My observation is him sitting on one of the wooden boxes, scrolling his phone, hardly being attentive to his clients’ well being while they perform exercises.
I’m Gold’s Gym cannot hold their staff to the example of leadership, organization and cleanliness…. It is no wonder that myself, and likely many other members, are noticing this trend. Please contact me via provided contact information in your system to address any of these criticisms.

• Weights and equipment almost never put back where they are suppose to be.
• Equipment not properly maintained (they need to be deep cleaned and not filthy).
• Staff doesn't do anything nor are they properly trained. (Ex. Giving customers wrong information about charges and can't even explain what it is). Probably benefit from saving money by not having employees at night since they don't do anything
• Staff just sits around doing nothing when they should be looking around to clean things up such as re racking weights instead of just being on their phones not caring.
• Bathrooms are filthy
• Cleaning lady that comes at night just walks in the men's restroom without checking if anyone is in there. Also they have a thing to block off the bathroom for cleaning but never use it.
• Also cleaning lady doesn't even look like she cleans the bathrooms properly so what's the point of paying for the cleaning fee if they don't clean bathrooms and gym.
• Seems like they can't properly maintain equipment and stuff that does go down and out of service aren't tended to for months and doesn't even seem like equipment is fixed properly when they do bring it back.
• Always seems to be humid and moldy inside and they have all the ac equipment and looks like they don't even use it. (Maybe even asbestos?)
• Clocks are always wrong
• Loose screws on equipment and equipment is not put in evenly
• Not entirely employee at fault but poor management and owner of running a gym
• When was the last time filters were changed on water fountains lol when are any of the fountains been cleaned at all.
• People never re racking their weights and leaving equipment hidden for other customers
• All lights probably need covers cause they are blinding
• There's a guy who trains in the sauna room that always reeks of weed and makes it very unpleasant when people probably shouldn't be training in there smelling up the sauna of weed
• Trainers don't seem to care about others and just take up unnecessary space
• Flooring in free weight area and squat rack area is uneven and probably not installed correctly
• Tvs are pointless for cardio if more than half of them aren't even playing anything or just playing the dumb golds gym ads
• Owners, management and corporate probably won't care or do anything about this cause this gym has been the same for years but something needs to be said and done.
• Gym probably would benefit for shutting down for a week or two to fix everything and make the place better
• Barley anyone sanitizers the equipment
• People in the bathroom getting in the way and having photo shoots when they clearly can go somewhere else and even where people are trying to workout they are getting in the way annoying others

I recommend going to literally anywhere besides golds gym. Horrible experience. I got talked into signing up for pt. NOTHING like I was told. I was told I would have a personalized plan-nope. Never happened. Had to pay an insane amount to cancel training even though I was basically lied to to begin with. I had sessions left after canceling that I tried to use to at least somewhat get my moneys worth. Kept getting canceled on last minute. I told this trainer I was moving in 2 months. I had 3 sessions left. She just stopped contacting me to schedule sessions all together. Then a couple days before I was set to move, she contacted me to set up a session. Couldn’t get the cancelation fee waived even though I have 3 sessions left that I didn’t even get to use. This place is a huge scam!!! And the customer service email they give you? HA. Better forget that. They either never respond, or they are rude/no help at all. I recommend going to workout anytime. Better hours, better value, better gym.

Golds gym is the one gym I have been to in the Chattanooga area that I have felt welcomed and not judged. The staff go above and beyond especially when I have questions. I started to do personal training there and Stephanie has been my biggest supporter and someone I can also call a friend. Without her and her knowledge I would not be where I am at today with my weight loss journey. I am so glad I have found a gym community that helps anyone and everyone!

Completely screws you over regarding the membership and late fees, cancelled my debit card and they would not allow me to add my new card back to my plan or cancel my membership. Got a notice that my account was going to collections for 120 dollars, 40 of which is in stacked fees that were not in the contract. Months of overcharging on membership and shrinking hours completely ruined the experience, will never go to another golds location again.

After three years as a Gold’s Gym member, I’ve officially canceled my membership. The staff at the Hixson location often seem disinterested and unwelcoming, and the general manager’s customer service is terrible. He frequently talks loudly on his phone in the weight room, disrupting others trying to work out. His excuse? “My voice travels.” If you’re the GM, why are you having personal conversations on the gym floor in the first place? Not a great look and extremely unprofessional.
On top of that, the same equipment has been “broken” for the past two years, and the paper towel dispensers are usually either broken or empty—making it impossible to clean machines after use. Overall, the lack of maintenance and poor management made my decision easy. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere.

Horrible Customer Service - Poor Management:
My husband got a Gold’s Membership and signed up for the training program when they were still partnered with Lighthouse. Soon after training began, his trainer stopped showing up at the scheduled times without any contact. This went on for months. After a period of 2+ weeks passed with no shows by his trainer and no communication, he obtained the gym manager, Kyle’s, contact information. Although apologetic, Kyle offered to set him up with a new trainer and expressed refunds were not given for the remaining training credits. Instead of losing money, he opted to give a new trainer a chance. The new trainer began to show the same lack of commitment to training and would not show up but at least communicated, at least initially. After one cancellation claiming to be sick, he never heard from her again. He reached out to Kyle, once again, and again, the only option provided was a new trainer. My husband declined the offer and declared the only thing he wanted, once again, was a refund. No response was ever provided. All of the above took place between 2023- Spring 2024. Fast forward TODAY (1/27/2025) after almost a year of radio silence, he gets a text from Kyle advising he needed confirmation for him as an active client to be added to their new system. The incompetence of this establishment and its management is egregious, and be aware that customer satisfaction and support is nonexistent. It is one thing to decline a refund when you’ve received a service, but it’s criminal to declined a refund when your establishment has failed in every capacity to provide the services paid for.

Here to warn all you wanting to get fit for the New Year. If you plan to sign up to Golds Gym, which I highly recommend you find another gym. Do not do the free fitness assessment when they call or text you. You will get traped into signing up for a trainer no one can afford. They will be so nice to you at fist then belittle you when you tell them you don't want to sign up. Please look into other gyms.

I had a good workout today! The staff was friendly. It still appears the equipment should be wiped down all over on a regular basis, the entire machines. I have noticed several machines with out of order signs were fixed rather quickly. At least one machine, leg extension, is in real need of a seat recover. I have not considered leaving this gym mostly because of people I have met there. I also haven't gone to view other gyms at this point. So far so good. Have a great day!

HIDDEN FEES!! When I joined gold's gym I got signed up under the current gym manager Justin. The gimmick to get personal training is all good and I signed up for just two times a month costing around $120 bucks. Justin knew that If he told me about the $300 dollar cancellation fee then I would not have done it. There was no way to get around paying $300 just to get out of the personal training program. Frustrated I was done with gold's gym and of course there is a $62 cancellation fee. If Justin wasn't hiding fees I would still be there. I'm sure that I can find a good gym around here that is not poorly managed.

While they have just about everything you need to work out, a lot of the equipment is falling apart or is so worn down you can’t even see the weight. The place is also pretty filthy and desperately in need of regular deep cleanings. Dust on everything, dirt covered water fountains, and hair “tumbleweeds” in crevices making it apparent they don’t have it regularly cleaned.

Gold gym is a Scam, don't ever get a contact they will just say you did this in that and then they won't ever answer the phone or answer the email you send them to cancel or doing thing about it. If I could leave a 0 star review I would. This place does dirty business. Moved out of state for family reasons and tried to cancel over the phone. They told me to email their customer service and once I did I received an error stating the email for customer service doesn’t exist. I emailed the customer service each time to remove my overdue payments as I only wanted to pay the cancelation for my agreement. I spoke with the manager who no longer works there , DJ, to which he said he would email customer service personally to handle my inability to reach out to their customer service team and he told me to send all the emails that I was sending to customer service to him in which he would forward those emails to their CS team and he said he would call me back to confirm the emails were sent. That was months ago. Never once received confirmation he received my emails and I sent him more emails after that asking if he received them. 2 months later I call golds gym to find out he doesn’t work there anymore and find out my account is sent to collections. How hard is it to reach out to customer service for golds gym? Or is their email even real? This company has caused me multiple problems and it’s a miracle they even have their act together enough to keep these gyms cleaned after multiple years of customers complaining about the dirtiness of their facilities. DONT DO BUSINESS OR SIGN A CONTRACT WITH THIS COMPANY. Go to crunch fitness instead where they treat you with respect and don’t beat around the bush for months just to get some extra cash out of you.

I usually go to the Lee hwy branch because they are 24/7, but that location has went down within the last year or two.
machines are rusted and broken, showers are not well taken care, shower nasty and the curtain rods are covered with rust, sauna broken, they have ants real bad in the locker room annnd the shower, it feels like they didnt pay their electric bill because its a freaking hotbox in the entire gym!
So I took a chance this morning and visited the Hixson branch.
WOW! what a difference a gym makes. I feel like I won the gym lottery. All the machines work properly. People were pleasant. I did not see any broken signs or machines. the attachments were plenty and newer versions and they had several machine options. ... and the sauna works!!!! No pool but its soooo worth it! The bathrooms are well kept AND THE WATER PRESSURE !!!!! LOVED IT.

Over all everything is great. Few minor things I have noticed that haven’t ever gotten fixed in years, and it’s an easy fix. The grip material on the row machines, pull up bars above the cable machine and the pull up bars over the deadlift area have not been addressed. All unevenly wrapped or not wrapped at all.

I love Gold's Gym on Hwy 153. The staff is so friendly and helpful that it really feels like home. They keep gym clean and the equipment is in good repair.
As a woman over 60 years of age, I have done weight training off and on for over 20 years and have been a member of several other gyms that simply weren't a good fit. This place is straight GRIMEY. This gym experience has been a complete NIGHTMARE. Definitely disappointed that this is how this has turned out.First I was pressured into signing up for a personal trainer that I didn't want in the first place. Then when I tried to cancel it it turns out there's a termination fee. Along with having to pay first and last month for everything. I did get the $200 for the last month of the personal trainer back after jumping through hoops. I'm cancelling my membership because I can't deal with shoveling money at these people anymore

If I could give 0 stars, I would. This is the absolute WORST company and their employees are just as bad. I signed up with Golds gym back in Sept. Shortly after, I received a text about personal training. I met with, Don Lawson (who doesn’t even work there anymore), a few days later. During our meeting, we talked about my goals and then about pricing. I told him I would think about it and get back with him, and of course, he insisted I sign up. I asked him if there were any cancellation fees or contract and he said “No, you can cancel your month-to-month at anytime”. I asked because at the time my father wasnt doing well at all and ended up passing in October. I wasnt going to sign an additional contract for training since I already had one for my gym membership. Anyways, we went to Don Lawsons’s desk to fill out my paperwork and when he asked me to sign he said, “this is just giving us permission to charge your credit card, sign and initial” So I did, not knowing it was an actual contract! & of course, I should’ve read what I had signed, but didn’t feel the need to since he answered my questions and assured me there were no additional fees or contract! So fast forward to December, I reached out to the gym to let the know I had to cancel & whoever answered the phone took my information and said ok, “we’ll take care of this for you”. I was charged in January and of course, I called to find out why. Well come to my surprise, I was supposed to cancel through lighthouse and I didnt even know who that was or why!! Leslie from Golds reached out to me to let me know I needed to go through Lighthouse and sent me the link where I could do so. I filled out a request to contact online, and shortly after I received a response saying I signed a 1 year contract and it would be $299 plus the month to cancel. I explained to them what all had happened, but none of that matters. I reached out to Don about the matter and his response was “ sorry you didn’t understand”
I have spoken with the gym manager over in Hixson, Zach and the manager over lighthouse personal training, Kyle Hudson at the Lee HWY location, and they “cant” do anything about it. I reached back out to operations with lighthouse to request a payment plan for the cancellation fee and no, thats not allowed!! They’re in no hurry to respond and are RUDE.
Yes, it is my fault I didn't read what I signed. I didn’t expect Golds to be partnered with a dirty business. I just want to spread awareness to STAY AWAY AT ALL COST! They are dishonest. I will say that Zach, the manger in Hixson is nice, aside from the fact he insists nothing can be done..

I visited on a guest pass, and this place was a mess. The machines are old and kind of weird. The machines aren't logically grouped together, like all the chest machines together, legs together etc. I spent a lot of time walking around trying to figure out which machine does what. The cardio equipment was filthy. They did have a pretty cool powerlifting area with plenty if squat racks.

Use to be one of my favorite gym, everything isn’t out in the open as much as Crunch. And this Golds was and the few gyms to offer a kids center, the one on lee hwy takes more kids than they are supposed to, and is so busy. So I loved coming here to work out and know my daughter was going to watched, it was nice to have a good gym think about parents. Now I’ve been displaced, really wish they would bring it back.

I have been a fan of this particular Gold's Gym location ever since it was The Rush. The equipment is well maintained and the clientele keeps the floors clean (no used paper towels left on the floors, dirty objects in the bathroom, etc).
2024: this gym continues to shine! The front desk staff members are friendly - they greet you sincerely and don't rush you out the door at 5 minutes to close. The gym members treat the place with care (rarely will you see weights left unattended on the floor or used paper towels strewn about).

Good selection of equipment, some equipment is older than others but the owner/staff seems to be replacing cushions/pads and machines slowly overtime. The locker/ changing room are nice, plenty of space and lockers. The bathrooms are bad. Sink handle was missing, no urinal dividers, inch or more gap between stall doors. Try your best to go at home first but I go to the gym to lift and that aspect is great.

Keeping the place more clean consistently and putting some new machines in is needed here. It's also packed out pretty much anytime from 5-9pm which can make it a little difficult managing time and the work out. But that being said it's got everything you need to get yoked and I've been working out here for about 2 years now. Some minor changes and this would be a 4 stars.

Staff are mostly friendly but the facilities continue going down hill. For months- not weeks- equipment broke, TVs not working (have to bring my note book for cardio time), not clean dust behind doors/equipment and visible. Ran most all the group instructions off so no cycling and other classes.
I want and need you guys to get it together unless you trying to lose members to other gyms in town.

Been a member over a year. Was told that after a year unless I RENEWED it that it would be over. Come to find out wrong. Just called location and employee of phone didn’t seem to care other than saying that I have to come in during business hours to cancel so the manager can do it. So I now have to take pto from work to do so. Unacceptable. This gym needs to get it together before competition runs them out of business.
