My husband and I love Irontribe. We come from very different athletic ability backgrounds - he’s played sports his whole life and after pregnancy, I couldn’t perform a single push up - but the coaches met us where we were as individuals, worked with us, modified workouts as needed, and actively guided us to hit goals neither of us thought were possible. I have been working out at ITF since 2018, and I recommend it to everyone. Everything can be scaled to meet you where you are. I am recently returning to exercise postpartum, and the Prime program has been a fit for me as I transition back to regular classes. I couldn’t have asked for the better gym or better coaches to meet my fitness goals. Coach Bethany and Coach Jake are amazing coaches who make everyone feel comfortable, whether you’re new to the game or a swoll veteran 😂. My experience has been life changing , when I initially went in to talk I felt intimidated by the people and equipment . But luckily I had a trainer that was easy and laid back . My first workout I was hurting the next day I didn’t want to go but one text and my trainer was like you need to go I did . I love ITF so much!! I have never enjoyed exercising in any form. I reluctantly came to a class with my friend, not expecting to get much out of it. To my surprise, I wanted to go again! And again and again! I signed up for a membership and have never dreaded going to a single class. I used to DREAD going to the gym! They give very direct verbal and physical instruction, for those like me that need it. If you’re unable to do an exercise that’s on the “menu” for the day, they adapt to what you’re able to do. They have also given me encouragement and advice, which is a huge bonus! I’ve been out for almost two months now due to back to back covid illness and some unforeseen family emergencies. Stanford has texted me to see if I was okay because I haven’t attended in a while. If that doesn’t show how interpersonal they are and how much they care, I don’t know what does! I can’t say enough good things about this gym and the people that run it :)

I’ll say the same thing as the next guy: I love the coaches, I love the culture, and I love the pump. But there’s more than that.I have been wildly impressed by not only the coaching staff and facilities that we get to work with, but also the character of the people that come to these classes. People often talk about ITF providing you with an intense and rewarding work out, but I have found the most rewarding aspect of being here has been the opportunity to cultivate deep and lasting relationships.My fitness levels have gone up tremendously since joining the gym, but that isn’t only due to consistency of exercise and eating right. I feel more healthy physically and mentally because of the attention, detail, and philosophy that ITF perpetuates through their coaches and other athletes in the gym. My success is our success.This gym has set the bar high. I couldn’t imagine spending my 6:45am-7:30am M-F anywhere else.

Man where do I start. By far the dopest gym I’ve been to. From the personalized training, the team work from the coaches, Olympic style training all the way to the physical & mental toughness it brings out of you. I really like this gym!!! Justin and Allie are awesome I work with them a lot and they are always encouraging me to keep going.They Correct me when I’m not doing an exercise correctly and I like that because I want to get the most out of my workout.I have also worked with Jordan and he is amazing as well .He saw me really struggling with burpees and showed me a way to adjust them to my fitness level in a way that I would still be able to get my full workout ,because trust me I still felt the burn ,but it was easier for me to do. I would definitely recommend this gym even if you are a beginner I am over weight and they meet me where I am to get started on my weight loss journey.

I have truly loved working out here! I decided to sign up for the 21 day challenge. I will admit I was lacking motivation before I began because losing weight and committing to changing my lifestyle has seemed impossible. Having people motivating, encouraging, and holding me accountable was a game changer. What a wonderful facility! This is a gym where the coaches are kind, approachable, encouraging, and extremely knowledgeable. They teach you every movement and skill with such care and specificity, so as to make you fill comfortable and ensure safe execution of the movement. The way they break things down makes everything feel accessible no matter your level of experience. I couldn’t believe I was doing Burpees my first day! They show you how to work up to bigger movements at your own pace, so you are never thrown in to something your body isn’t ready for. On the other hand, they want you to push yourself! The energy in the gym is different than anything I have every experienced. The communal feeling of working towards a goal as a class was so invigorating, I don’t ever want to go back to working out by myself. Every class I have taken so far was different, interesting, and challenging. Never a dull moment at Iron Tribe. Lastly, and most important, not only do the coaches assist you in the gym, they also make sure you have what you need to succeed in your nutrition. They taught us how to build our own, specific meal plan that suited our needs, and also gave us accountability check-ins for tips and encouragement. They equipped us with the science behind eating healthy, so we can make life changes, versus crash diets. And as a person on a tighter grocery budget, I still managed to get all I needed no problem. I can’t say enough positive things about this gym. I was so surprised by how quickly I got hooked on coming to every class. And it’s really the people that make the difference. In just 21 days I have dropped more body fat and increased more muscle mass than I did in the last 6 months by myself. And even more than that, I’ve seen that my body is more capable than I realized. Trust the people at Iron Tribe Memphis. They really know their stuff!

I decided to try a challenge at Iron Tribe in 2018 and here is why I chose to stay:

I need people. I am not the kind of person that can put in ear buds and crank though a workout alone at the gym. I need to be with people who work hard and play hard. I need to be part of a tribe of people that high-five me, that push me to be better and (trainers) that advise and hold me accountable.

I also need the maximum workout in the minimum amount of time. ITF provides challenging and effective 45-minute workouts that always start on time with time slots to fit my day. I leave every workout exhausted and amazed at what I accomplished in less than an hour.

And finally, I don’t have to worry about looking inexperienced or out of place because everyone is doing the same workout but at different levels. So although my workouts are tailored for me, I look just like everyone else.

We get in, we workout, we get out. That's my kind of gym. Except they do it with accountability and attention to detail. The ability to schedule a class just about any time of day is huge. Overall, this program is great. I am participating in a 21 day challenge and I’m going on my 3rd week 7 pounds lighter. The workouts are not stagnate so if you get bored easily like me and want to boost your workout routine then try it out. Additionally, I like the “tribe” feel. The people in the challenge during workouts encouraged and pushed each other. That was nice. The only reason I didn’t give it a 5 stars is because it’s pretty pricey. But if you are looking to push past a stall like me or just increase your level of strength or be encouraged and need accountability eating better, I recommend Iron Tribe.

Iron Tribe is definitely more than just a gym. I went into the East Memphis facility, not really know what to expect, I just wanted to get into better shape. Well, what I got was so much more. It's a great program run by great people. I've seen amazing results with the meal plan and exercise regimen they provided. I was pretty nervous about going on a diet, but the food has actually been very good and I've even added a few new meals and ideas to my mental recipe book. Cool space, pretty good programming, great people. Enjoyed the free trial. Nice to always have 2 coaches per class. With that said, I didn’t receive a lot of coaching to improve form, body mechanics, etc. That may occur with full-time members. Cant speak on value as the 6-week trial I did was cost-free. Here are my thoughts: I came in skeptical but started the New Years challenge anyway. Things had gotten way off track and I was ready for a change. Began at almost 220 lbs (heaviest I’ve been in YEARS) and over 34% body fat. In 6 weeks, I lost 8 lbs but dropped to under 28% body fat. That’s a huge jump.

My fitness improved on the baseline workout and I feel better than I have in a while. My skepticism is completely reversed. I completely recommend this place and this program. John and his team will push you to change and they truly care. They understand if you have limitations and will work with you. If you’re questioning it, just go. You never know how much you will like it until you try.

I have been going to Iron Tribe in Germantown since the beginning of the year for a challenge with my sister. Iron Tribe is probably the best place you could go if you want to get in good shape if you need some work, or phenomenal shape if you are are already pretty lean. The workouts are very challenging for every level from beginner to veteran. The staff at the Germantown location is exceptional. They are extremely friendly and provide very helpful motivation. The workouts move fairly quickly and are always different every day. Over each week you will get a full body workout. I would strongly recommend Iron Tribe to everyone!

I had started going to Iron Tribe with, my then just coworker, Taylor Strickland in the later part of 2017.

We had talked about it for weeks prior and I just kept telling her that I was scared because I had never “thrown weight” before and the mere thought of putting 100+ lbs over my head sounded like a scene out of Hercules #zerotohero

But, I finally took the plunge and went with her to a class. I walked in thinking “nope, there’s no way I can complete this workout” to leaving saying “wait..I completed it”!

Since then I have been doing the New Year’s challenge and each class I have done I go in saying the same thing but always emerging saying how proud I am of myself for completing it or finding what workouts I’m good at (#backsquats&bearcrawls).

This mentality, the spirit to overcome and challenge yourself, has crept into other aspects of my life as well and as a result has made me a better/stronger person both mentally and physically.

I thank not only my now great friend, Taylor, but also Iron Tribe for giving me this newfound courage and strength. My heart, body, and mind have never been stronger.

There are so many things I loved about Iron tribe. Everyone there is so friendly and welcoming, I love that there are two coaches at each class that are watching to make sure everyone has proper form or to answer any questions. This place is amazing! After 3 years here, I've lost 18 lbs. (and kept it off!!!) and 4" from my waist...all while gaining a lot of strength. The entire staff at Iron Tribe truly care about each and every member. Iron Tribe offers an incredibly efficient workout that has enabled me to get much more fit despite a busy schedule. I can be in and out in 45 minutes, and get a very intense workout in during that time. I've never thought of myself as someone who enjoyed group workouts, but these are well designed sequences that vary each day with a good mix of strength and aerobic exercises, and the coaches keep it interesting. After only six weeks I'm needing to update my wardrobe, or else break out those pants that have been in the back of the closet for about a decade.

I can't say enough good things about Iron Tribe East Memphis. In the past, I have never been big on group workouts; I just always did my own program at home. Actually, I was pretty intimidated to start because I thought I would not be able to keep up. Having been at Iron Tribe for 14 months now, I can honestly say it is the best thing I have ever done for my fitness and health. The classes are challenging and provide amazing accountability. Being able to attend a 45 minute class and get a thorough, well thought-out workout led by 2 qualified coaches is an incredible value to me. My experience at Iron Tribe throughout this six-week challenge has been humbling and difficult, but so fulfilling and rewarding. I remember doing backwards bear crawls and getting to a point when I could hold myself up but knew that if I attempted one more step, I would fall on my face. I remember ending a workout doing wall balls and barely being able to throw the ball into the air. I did a “manmaker” today, and apparently I’m not ready to be made a man yet. However, through it all, I could feel myself getting better each day and treating this process like a journey and a springboard to healthier habits and a healthier life. The coaches at both East Memphis and Germantown create environments for growth and development by being encouraging, teaching proper technique, and having fun and laughing with the gym members. They deserve every bit of praise and appreciation that comes their way. The members are of all fitness levels, and the workouts are uniquely designed for each person at each level to push his or her respective limits to advance beyond limits from the day before. I have greatly enjoyed this challenge, and I look forward to completing it in two days. It cannot go without mentioning that my challenge partner, Becca, has been incredible. I hyperextended my knee fairly significantly playing basketball. Since moving to Memphis early morning basketball and ultimate frisbee were the only ways I attempted to stay in shape. Hurting my knee was frustrating and came at a terrible time prior to the Holidays.

Enter Iron Tribe. I joined after Christmas knowing that I'd likely be one of the weakest (still am) new members and I'd likely be limited in what I could accomplish due to my knee, but I desperately needed accountability. Honestly I was a bit nervous about joining - the type of the workouts seemed intimidating at first and I was worried I'd re-injure my knee. But I quickly realized that the coaches were aware of my previous injury, very encouraging, were all great at helping to coach me specifically through movements/techniques, and were there to help me know if/where I should push myself.

I think I'v'e made improvements in my workouts and I feel great - but the point of this testimonial is to encourage the current staff (thanks y'all) and to serve as a reference for any future person who's on the fence about joining for whatever reason it may be (out of shape, injury, or both). The individual encouragement and attention by each coach helped integrate me into a new routine that I think anyone will grow to love just like my experience.

Two words: AMAZING COACHES!!!! They are well trained, knowledgeable, call each person by name, and are truly interested in helping each person meet their individual goals.

The 45 min PUSH classes are truly for all fitness levels, and the AMAZING COACHES mentioned above make class fun.

This is the only gym I’ve been to that also provides excellent nutrition coaching, including inbody scans. Really thankful — bc what happens in the kitchen is just as important (if not more) than the workouts. This aspect is missing from so many gyms.

I'm not a Facebook post’r nor do I review events or businesses promoted through Facebook...however, today I'm writing a review for Irontribe East Memphis. Yes, this is part of a competition to get points...but I can say with all sincerity…for the first time during my Facebook life, I am writing a review that I'm honored and glad to do! I've always been active in my life whether it’s running, playing basketball, mountain bike riding, etc. I've always enjoyed competition and exercising whatever venue. But my love for cheese fries a Huey's (#ranchisthebest), Turkey Nachos at Central BBQ, Highpoint pizza (#buffalochickensaladrocks), Gibson Donuts (#applefritter), Turkey Breast Deluxe at Bogies, and who can resist the tenders at Gus's (#tendersarebetter)...together with my body changing as it crosses over its 4th decade forced me to explore something more motivating and challenging. Enter John Irvine Christopher Robert Tyler Anthony Cabrera Dalton Covington Melvin Jones, Kristen Hunsucker and all the other coaches, past and present, who have served Irontribe East Memphis so well. Through their consistent coaching, encouragement, and challenge I'm in the best shape of my life...yes life! A gym is a gym...they have weights, exercise equipment, bars, etc. But what makes a gym come alive and affect the lives of real people is the personalities that run the gym. They create the culture and heart of the gym. I've been to many gyms in my life, but I've never been to a gym where the coaches view you as an end in itself and not just a means to an end. They really care about you, not just as an athlete who pays money to use their stuff, but as people who have real struggles, real goals, and real needs to be helped and motivated to be better and healthier versions of themselves. From May 2016 til now it has been a hard journey through front squats with the bar only, blue band pull-ups, box push-ups, DNF after DNF after DNF (did not finish), ripped calluses, and mental weakness. But as I left the workout this morning exhausted and feeling liked I'd just gone 12 rounds with Floyd Mayweather, I remembered where I was almost 2 years ago and was immediately thankful for Irontribe East Memphis.

I go to the doctor's office next door. Every time I am there I hear the folks at IRONTRIBE dropping huge weights, rep after rep. It is extremely annoying and highly unnecessary not to mention potentially unsafe and destructive. I have lifted weights for many years. I even got so into it that I obtained my personal fitness trainer certification through AFAA and worked at my local YMCA on the fitness staff. Based on all of the best exercise science, experience, and common sense available, there is no reason people should be allowing huge, heavy weights to slam down after every single rep.

If you have to drop a weight, it should be for reasons of safety, most often at the end of a set. It is always better to drop a weight than to risk injuring yourself. That said, people should not be lifting weights that are so heavy that they cannot control the lift all the way through both the concentric (up, usually) and eccentric (down, usually) phases of a lift from the very start of a set unless they are training to become power lifters. For general fitness, lifting more than is controllable is not only unnecessary but also dangerous and counterproductive to overall fitness. If you only train your body to lift up and never to put down, you are cheating yourself. This is true no matter how good it feels to clean that heavy weight and drop it on the floor.

I am sure that IRONTRIBE is great for a lot of people. I am not here to hate on their mission or on crossfit, but I will suggest that even a good crossfit workout can be performed without dropping huge, heavy weights that slam into the floor hard enough to shake an entire building and everyone in it. I am sure they all just want to feel good and get fit, but they don't seem to realize that there is an office full of medical professionals and often very sick patients who have to listen to and feel them slam weights on the ground all day right next door, or if they do realize it, they don't seem to care. I am giving IRONTRIBE a one star review based on their being unnecessarily obnoxious to their neighbors and encouraging the use of improper and potentially dangerous weightlifting techniques. IRONTRIBE management, if you are reading this, then please stop feeding your egos with sick peoples' discomfort. It's bad form in more ways than one.

Last week marked 3 weeks into the Irontribe Memphis New Year’s Challenge. 2 weeks to go. Since I started, a lot has changed for me: a little muscle gained, a little more fat lost, and my heart and lungs feel better. I still feel like I have so far to go to reach some fitness goals I have for myself, but group fitness classes are the way to go. For the prior 3-4 years, I struggled constantly with finding motivation to workout. I was usually by myself or trying to coordinate workouts with friends to “force ourselves” to do it. Irontribe is fun, difficult, and motivating. I would never do these workouts by myself. The coaches deserve a shoutout (Dalton, Emily, Jordan, Kristin, etc). They are very knowledgeable and they won’t let you get away with bad form or weak effort. They are there to answer any questions you have. Everyone working out there seems glad to be there. I grew up playing sports, hitting the gym, etc, my entire life. I'm 52yrs old, with four kids, and travel a lot for work, so although I was consistently hitting the gym, I was getting really bored with the same old stuff. I thought I was in decent shape, especially for my age, until I tried Iron Tribe where I quickly learned I was NOT in as good of shape as I thought. BUT, here's the good news: you don't need to be some young, ripped, freak to work out and excel at Iron Tribe. The staff is awesome....they explain everything in detail before every workout, they push us to go beyond what we think we can do, but they aren't sadistic drill Sargents. The average class has participants younger and in better shape than me, people about at my fitness level, and folks in worse shape than I am (I try to stand near these people during workouts). Each workout can be scaled to fit your current level with the goal of constant improvement. Walking in the door to getting back in my car is one-hour max, and I KNOW I worked out hard. I just completed the 101 course.......mandatory for all new members as they explain and demonstrate every move........and I'm 6 workouts into my now weekly routine. I love it.

I hate to admit it but I'm a fat middle aged woman who desparately needs to get into shape or I'll never make it to old age. I haven't wanted to be this way and I have tried methods over the years including personal trainers - but those are expensive-- much more expensive and less fun than Iron Tribe.

I have a friend who had been going to Iron Tribe for 4 months and after multiple conversations I decided to give it a try. It isn't for the faint of heart. Its been 6 weeks now and I have to say that I don't regret the decision at all. I don't think there is one exercise that I don't have to have modified but that's ok. When class is over everyone has worked to the max of their potential. I am probably getting more benefit than someone who started already in top shape but trust me when I say they are still getting a great workout. The trainers (John, Grant & Chris) are knowledgable and are committed to making the experience work for anyone regardless of their level. The workouts are bonding moments for the people in the classes and everyone is supportive of each other. I actually look forward to going to class and seeing how far I've come since I first started. I look forward to amending this review or writing a new one at my 6 month and 1 year anniversary!

I have been out of shape or at least in the shape I am in for over 20 years. My wife and I decided that we needed to do something so we checked out Iron Tribe Fitness Memphis. John Irvine sat down with Ashley and I and went through the whole process of how everything worked and that all of the exercises could be modified to meet your personal abilities. We signed up and started the 101 class two days later. After the first class when they said, "See you tomorrow", I mumbled, "Fat Chance!", as every part of my body cringed in fear. I went back the next day and the next and the next. We started looking forward to working out. We started the Paleo diet and have seen pounds and inches drop off.

The workouts are challenging, but John, Grant and Chris are great motivators. They continue to encourage you every step of the way. If you don't think you can do Iron Tribe Fitness, you are wrong. If I can do it, anyone can.

I love the program that Iron Tribe offers. The initial month is really spent teaching you the proper way to perform the exercises and avoid injury. And I love how progress is tracked every step of the way. It really lets you strive to be a better athlete and improve your performance with each workout. The workouts are tough but so rewarding when you get through them and even more rewarding when you revisit the same workout and get better results. The coaches at Iron Tribe are super fun and supportive and I just can't say enough nice things about the place as well as the other people that work out here. It really is a "tribe" and I am so excited to be a part of it!!

I never thought I'd get this close to 50 and even though I had been to the gym on a regular basis I WAS NOT in shape. I joined IronTribe in Sept. WOW, what a change! I've lost 12 pounds and dropped 2" in my waist. I'm getting stronger. The coaches are really interested in my success! The workouts give me balance, motivation, and encouragement to succeed in all areas of my life. What a great group of coaches and attendees. I'm thankful to be a part of this tribe!!

I'll just say that I'm closer in age to 60 than I am to 50. I have two bad knees with no cartilage, two bad shoulder rotator cuffs and a bad lower back. How could an old guy like me actually participate in an intense fitness regimen involving a combination of weights, aerobics, stretching, diet and lifestyle change? How? Through the daily assistance of coaches who encourage me and demonstrate ways for me to scale my exercise routine so that I get the intense targeted benefit without injury.

I've been working out for years at my local gym. But, I got bored with endless hours on the elliptical. When I used weights I wasn't sure if I was doing the right exercises in the correct way. Inevitably, at my old gym I would get injured by trying to bench press too much or by using poor form.

Now, at Iron Tribe, I work out at the hour I choose, in an encouraging environment with a handful of people, led by coaches who track my daily progress and personally guide me through each workout - actually, they guide me through each exercise.

Join me at Iron Tribe - if you are old like me or if you are a young buck. My wife and I BOTH enjoy working out at Iron Tribe. We feel better. We are more healthy. My back pain is gone. My rotator cuffs aren't killing me, as they were, because my muscles are getting stronger. My eating is more healthy, and my knees . . . well my coaches help me to adapt the exercises so that I get the benefit to the rest of my body without irritating those old knees.
