The facility in Collierville, Tennessee is remarkably clean and well run. I travel a lot and use L.A.Fitness quite often. I think management could use the Collierville as a prototype of what other clubs could implement. An older woman "Joyce" is perhaps the best most self motivated worker as she cleans every inch of the club including bathrooms, working quietly. She always impresses me by her self motivation.

The mean old manager used every stalling tactic possible when I said I wanted to end my membership. My reason was because one of my classes was dropped. It had been several months but she insisted on calling the location even though I told her I had already complained. She then lied to me and said the instructor quit teaching the class which I know was not true because she was still teaching at other location and told us her other class had been dropped without explanation.

The location in Collierville is good but certainly could be better. The good is that the gym is exceptionally clean (lockers, showers, bathrooms), the equipment is good and always in working conditions (bikes, treadmills, weights etc....). What they could do better: 1) sauna has to be fixed, I've been a member for 4 years and the sauna has been unusable for 3 years, that unsat. 2) TVs have 11 channels but only 7 work. 7 channels in a gym is unsat. You need at the very least ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, ESPN, ESPN2, FS1, FOX News, CNN, FX, HGTV, TNT.

LA Fitness sucks! All web-Sites in the Memphis, Lakeland, Collierville are advertising they have all these classes and they don’t, machines broken at out of order for month and sometimes years, sauna area broken for years, dirty locker rooms and staff sucks! They try to pressure you into personal training and follow you around the gym every time you come in trying to let you need to buy training sessions. Promising all kinds of amenities that they don’t have for example, personal trainers who know nutrition (not), group personal training but they don’t have an instructor but will charge you for and say they don’t have a trainer as this time, water aerobics ( no instructors) but advertise it is offered, broken spin bikes and maybe the instructor will show up (never ) know. Try to cancel your membership good luck! Best way to cancel is to call your credit card company, cancel your credit card, tell the credit card company you tried to cancel the membership but LAF refuse to do it even if they say they have and then fill a fraud complaint with credit company against LAF. You will not be responsible for
Membership charges and a fraud charge will be filed against them. Best advice don’t join! Go to the YMCA, EMAC or GAC all kinds of classes no join or annual fee easy to cancel or put on hold a membership. Warning don’t join LAF it is a scam!

Gimmicks galore. Some of the most current issues facing members are pricing discrepancies of their membership fee agreed upon signing, the benefits of the club are up in the in terms of the group classes and sauna and pool. They are always changing based on how to make more profit and the sauna has been out of commission for more than a few years now. When I joined the sauna worked and now they won't even give me a straight answer of when it will get fixed.

Gym options with a pool are limited in Collierville and I wish I could have my original contract back.

I really tried to stick with this gym, but I just couldn’t do it anymore. The vibe was off in a way I can’t even explain, just uncomfortable from the start. If you’re lucky, maybe half the members clean their equipment after using it. I brought up the cable machines to staff multiple times because the bars needed greases, would stick… nothing ever got done. Overall, a terrible experience, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. To top it off, the men’s sauna was broken since I joined since 2024 lol

Since Elan has taken over as manager things have improved drastically. Showers are clean and well maintained. The pool gets cleaned, the parking lot is maintained and employees are always cleaning and keeping the facility in top shape

I’ve been a member of this gym for about 3 years now and I will say that when everything goes as you would expect it to and everything in the gym is working this place is great. The issue is that things don’t always go as you expect and one of the most important reasons that I chose this gym has been broken for over 2 years now and they flat out refuse to fix it. Starting with it doesn’t always go as expected it is extremely frustrating when the people that are supposed to be there to open the place in the morning are late and yes it happens often. Happen just last week as a matter of fact. They also have a strange way of picking which days they are going to be open if it’s cold out or it happens to snow. Weekend hours are ridiculous and they don’t even open until 8:00 on Saturdays and Sundays. When you ask about that they tell you that’s is a corporate section and they all open at 8:00 which is a lie. I have been to Esportas and LA Fitness locations all over the country and they open at 5:00 on the weekends everywhere else. Now let’s get to the biggest issue I have which is the sauna that has been broken for over 2 years now and their flat out refusal to fix it or tell us the truth about why they haven’t fixed it. There is a sign on the door saying it is down for repairs. That sign has been up for over 2 years. Again when you ask one of the many store managers that has been through here over the last 3 years, the people at the desk, the people that call you about renewing your membership, send an email to the customer service email, or even to company leadership you get something in the range of no response at all to lies about the issue, to them blaming customers for pouring water over the rocks breaking the sauna (which is an IR sauna and doesn’t have rocks….), to terribly written AI generated responses that no one ever reads. Just tell us the truth so we can make decisions when our membership is up. I like everything about the equipment and amenities that I am paying full price for and expect to be able to use and if LA Fitness has no intention of fixing the equipment they should tell us. Now if ATC a local gym here installs a sauna this will be an easy decision. I can’t tell you how many people I know that used to live this place that have switched to somewhere else. I also used to recommend this gym to people at work that are moving into the area. I can no longer do that. Attached pictures of the broken equipment, the people I have tried to get help from and the “responses” from “customer service”. Please just fix the equipment we are paying for to use.

So many machines. So many cardio machines. The variety of benches and workout equipment is amazing. I switched from the garbage STC fitness to here. They have a phenomenal selection of amenities like a pool and exercise bike room. Lots of space. This place is the best value for your money and the best gym around. I’ve been a member here for four months and the staff is amazing. I’ve been an LA fitness member for 15 years and it never disappoints. This place is beautiful and clean to boot! Highly recommend!!

I’ll start out by saying the area and location of this gym, is in fact a perk. It’s a good gym if you’re a no nonsense, go get your lifting done and get out kinda person. The machines are the best aspect of this gym.

My gripes are:
cable machine area is too tight
Sauna not working(might call corporate about this, considering we pay for it)
Saturday closing at 6

Other than that, it’s literally never really “crowded” and that’s my favorite thing about it.

This afternoon my boyfriend was treated very rudely by the PT staff manager and the manager of this facility. They were unbelievably rude and accusatory when they were asked to distance themselves from him repeatedly so that him and the employee were not injured during his workout. They were acting in an unsafe way around equipment and disrespectful to him while loudly calling him names in front of other patrons because he almost dropped a 200lb tire on them when they leisurely walked in front of him as he was flipping it. This employee walked away after and told a manager that my partner was being racist by asking her to stay clear of the workout area and not cursing him openly while he was trying to workout in peace. Race was never mentioned by him, and the issue was safety and respect for other’s space in a gym that was not crowded due to it being 2pm on a Friday. There was no reason for this interaction to have occurred, and he is only in town to take care of me while I recover from surgery. It was a shock to be disrespected in such a way. I’m so sad that my community can only see things in black and white and cannot see past race in a basic discussion of boundaries. What is so hurtful is that they won’t even tell us what he said or did that was racist so that he can learn from the interaction. They simply banned him from a gym that he has paid money to for years. To accuse someone of being racist is not something that we take lightly. It is not in line with our values or daily living. I know my partner, and not only do we both serve the entirely of our community with equal respect, we expect it in return.

I have mixed feelings about this gym. On the positive side, the equipment is modern and well-maintained, and the floor is consistently clean.

However, there are significant drawbacks. The gym offers extremely limited group class offerings, and the unconventional class timings don't accommodate most schedules. Additionally, the weekend hours are restricted, closing at 6 PM with last entry at 5 PM.
Furthermore, I was surprised by the poor air duct maintenance – they're noticeably dirty. While using some equipment, I couldn't help but notice the ceilings.

While the gym has potential, these issues detract from my overall experience

I have worked out at LA Fitness’s across multiple states for extended periods and.have lots of experience with this company. Collierville is hands-down, the cleanest and most well-kept LA Fitness I’ve ever been to. I will say it does not get as much foot traffic as the ones I used in South Florida but either way it’s an extremely nice gym. For example, I came in this morning and all of the weights and kettle bells next to the Astroturf area area were organized by category and size. Pretty sure I’ve never seen that anywhere else. The people work there are very welcoming and so far it’s been a really good experience

The best gym and the staff all I can say is WOW! Esporta you have a gem when it comes to Miliyah M. She is knowledgeable, patient, detailed, and make sure you understand what needs to be done based on the goals you want. The best choice I made was investing in myself and becoming a member of this gym and speaking to Miliyah. She made me feel like family and most of all has a no quit attitude to make you go hard or go home. I'm ready and so excited to be on a winning team. Get equipment, but you can never know when they are going to be open. The hours on the app are inaccurate and it seems that they close whenever they feel like it. Yesterday I went there at 6:45 pm the place was a ghost town. The app said they close at 8 pm. No one there, parking lot empty. I guess you should call before going. I won't renew.

When in to look around and to see if they had the program that would help me in my fitness. I was given to the General Manager. Not impressed. He asked me a few questions and and it seemed that he was pushing me to get a trainer. I have been working out for years. He walked and showed me the equipment and the group room. Because I am in the Silver sneakers my membership would be covered but I would need to pay for the group programs. When asked about the cost of the group training. I would need to talk to another person and be assessed. I asked why as the general manager, he refused to answer, and that I would need to talk to another person and join. I then asked I would need to know the cost. He would not answer and repeated that I would need to join and be assessed and that other person would answer that the question I would like to talk to that person. My assumption is the general manager does not even work out. I will leave it there

If you’re only here to lift and get out, it’s a ok gym. However the hours are not ideal and the sauna was broken the whole time I was a member. Many patrons do not wipe down their equipment after they use it. Likewise, there appears to be no staff keeping things clean during business hours.

The staff was absolutely unhelpful when I wanted to cancel my membership with lots of questions about why and very little to actually make it happen. Think old-school shady gym membership tactics. You can’t do it from the app, or the website. You have to try and catch in person the one manager who can cancel memberships. Or you have to locate, print and mail a form to Esporta HQ which, by their own admission, may take a few months to actually cancel your membership.

In all seriousness, it was easier and faster to cancel my membership at an LA Fitness 1000 miles away while traveling. It took about one minute, no questions asked.

Finally, while not Esporta’s fault, being the big shiny gym means there’s too much curling in the squat rack, hogging machines while playing on phone, and gaggles of kids trying to work in little sets as a group all over the place.

You can skip almost all these annoyances by selecting a different gym.

It has been more than a week the sauna is under maintenance. There should be a communication system through the app or email or text to tell members when there is any change in a facility amenities. Every time we have to go there physically and find out the sauna is not working. Please fix this communication gap.

I sent a VIP Guest Pass to my sister on 4/17/23. The invite she received had "Compliments of Shane Coleman". So today I asked Stephanie (I dont know the correct spelling) who Shane Coleman and instead of my name Shane Coleman name is there on the invite to my sister. She did not respond politely. Her response was "Why should it be your name on the invite. Who is your sister and why does she think that your name should be on the invite. Shane Coleman is so and so and his name is on the invite". My question was simple and the answer could have been simply saying that Shane Coleman is the one who did your registration. If Shane Coleman's designation was written under his name name on the invite, I would not even ask this question.
There was no need to be negative and rude especially from a customer representative. Highly disappointing conversation with Stephanie.

Laura is courteous and professional.

Overall I like eSporta and I recomment it but this encounter with a customer representative was very disappointing.

I’ve been having problems with my membership not having a guest pass even after I paid the fee to get a guest pass. I asked a simple question to a front desk worker named Anthony. I was just asking him if Terry was there so I could talk to him about the problem I was facing. He began yelling and being really rude after I calmly asked him a simple question. Please fire Anthony. I am pretty sure he’s short tempered when someone questions him and that’s not really someone you want to have representing you and welcoming new guests.

The gym in and of itself definitely serves its purpose. No better than the average decent gym.

Cons:

• When I first joined, there were certain "perks" for being a the signature location that have never returned after covid. The prices certainly have not gone down though.

• Overcrowded most of the time.

• Cleaning equipment for the workout machines is now extremely subpar.

The gym is always clean. Great variety of equipment and use of floor space. My only opportunity for improvement is for the showers not to take 10+ minutes to heat up.

First thing I noticed that impressed me when I walked in the building was how clean and fresh it smelled. The second thing that impressed me was the friendly down to earth young lady (Stephanie) that greeted me. She was so easy to talk with and was able to answer all my questions as well as explain about how the body works . Also, how her body healed from injuries. I appreciated this because I am recovering from an injury. I did not feel pressured at all, instead glad to join and get started. The eqipment was all so very nice as well and she explained so clearly how to use. I signed up !
I would appreciate the music overhead not constantly playing nor playing so loudly. Everyone has there own taste in music, and quietness can help some of us focus better. I will wear ear buds even though I really dont want stuck in ears whole time working out. Willing to compromise with all the other perks outweighing it. Lisa

The employees at this gym bullied my 51 year old mother out of the gym. The 30 year old manager did nothing and even encouraged it. The main bully was the 29 year old woman with long brunette ombré hair. She has been harassing my mother simply because she has an obsessive and borderline disturbing crush on a male patron my mother is friends with who my mother views as a son more than anything. This man is wholly disinterested in the employee and in turn she continues to stalk him around the gym and attempts to drive off any and all female patrons that he talks to via harassment and intimidation.

Today my mother came home sobbing and having a panic attack because this employee started filming her out of nowhere when my mother approached the front desk to ask her to please leave her alone. My mother has been through many hardships in her life and deserves a peaceful environment to work out in but instead she was continuously harassed and bullied for just being friendly with people.

I hope this establishment goes out of business for aiding and abetting in petty harassment of patrons.

My trainer was good but after the training was over I kept being charged even though I had canceled any more sessions. The staff "kept forgetting " to cancel my recurring charges until I called corporate. Based on what I have read above, I now believe it to be a deliberate action so they can milk you as long as possible.

Very decent gym. It is always clean and has enough equipment to spread out your workouts when they are busy. My only issue is that they stack the heavy dumbbells on top, instead of the other way around. If you're a heavy lifter like I am it takes a bit of getting used to.

when you go to sign up they are so nice, but you want to quit and you don't know them. I told them I wanted to cancel and they keep charging me, I have to talk to my bank, they don't do anything to help you. very bad experience they just make you believe that they are going to cancel your account and they don't. never use the trainer I canceled them I agreed to pay half for what the contract said and they charged me for everything in full.

Today was the most crazy day. Never heard of a gym saying that you can’t work out together. Me, my husband, and my brother worked out together motivating one another. A trainer approached my husband asking who was in charge and I said my husband. He spoke to my husband asking him was he a trainer and my husband said no. The trainer said we can’t all work out together because it looked like he is training us when actually we’re just working out together. The issue is there were so many people that work out in groups and nothing was said. This was not right because what gym does that. The trainer felt like he was loosing money because of how something looked that wasn’t. My husband wasn’t training us and is not a trainer.. we all was helping each other. We will NEVER return to that location. Saying we have to work out separate when that makes no sense if we came there together with a game plan. Never again don’t go there if you can’t work with your husband, wife, sister, or anyone else in a small group. When did that become a policy?? Just because a trainer in his feelings about nobody going to him? It’s a free country and people have been banned from there for working out together.. makes no sense because if we wanted a trainer we would of said something but that shows were the trainer mine is about MONEY not people

This place is a scam! We purchased eight personal training sessions, with no mention of automatic renewal or recurring charges. It was a simple purchase. They charged us almost $2000 for more sessions without telling us and refuse to refund the money. We have filed a complaint with the BBB, and noticed the company has a 1 star rating there. Beware!

The only way to cancel the membership is to go into the location in person (9-5, Monday through Friday) or “mail” the paperwork to “corporate”. Canceling membership must be as Simple as singing up. This is not acceptable and beyond ridiculous! Hope the marketing people can read this and take note.

Love it, such a nice facility. Poor mgmt, however, so changing my rating. They were holding my cell charger for me overnight and when I went to retrieve it the next day it was gone. I was told by the girl manager that one of their employees must have stolen it and the reasoning for her not attempting to retrieve it was cause her stuff gets stolen at the front desk all the time, too. Hilarious. General manager found it completely ludicrous that he ask all of their whopping 8 employees who might have taken it. He even at one point said, “ so what it’s a 15 dollar charger” lol Frustrating experience.

Funny story - we cancelled in 2019 and they kept billing us. I called the Lakeland location and they verified we had cancelled. Still kept billing us. I went in person - yep, you're cancelled, it won't bill you anymore. Continued to get charged. Called corporate LA Fitness, they even saw we had cancelled but the billing never stopped. The contract had ended and we were still charged. Here we are, 25 months later, yes, over 2 years after the contract was done and they are still billing me. Today when I called, they had the nerve to say only one membership was cancelled, even though we BOTH went in PERSON TOGETHER!! After quite some time on yet another phone call, they finally cancelled the membership and advised they could only refund 6 months of charges! Seems fair....you charge me for 25 months....over $800.00 and because your record keeping is a joke, you are only willing to refund $210.00. PATHETIC WAY TO DO BUSINESS!!!
Do yourself a HUGE favor - BUY YOUR OWN EQUIPMENT AND DO IT AT HOME!!

The gym equipment isn't being maintained. I had to get a steroid shot for one of my knees. I had an injury from one of the sanitary bikes.

This gym was great when it first opened. It is spacious and great equipment, however it has gone downhill since. Some machines have been “under repair” for months. Equipment is not being maintained like it used to. May look elsewhere if it doesn’t change.
