I would give zero stars if I could. I went up there 3 times to cancel my membership. The first time the workers told me I was good and didn’t need to do anything else but when I realized they were still charging me I called and went up there again and yet again was told it was handled. Nobody mentioned I needed to check in or that I would get an email confirming cancellation even though I asked if there was anything else I needed to do. I would not choose this as my gym unless you want them to lie to you and take your money after you cancelled. They have no sympathy for you even though you did what you were told. Not to mention the inconvenience and time it took to go up there 3 different times to cancel again. It’s poor customer service. I should not be penalized because the workers I spoke with did not do their job and then lied about it. I’ve been a returning customer and always nice and respectful to the staff and gym so this is just super disappointing.😔👎🏼

Front desk dude with the tat has serious understanding of how to do his job. His manager is just as useless. Updated to a new phone but the la fitness app doesn’t transfer over. The whole branch doesn’t know how to activate the new phone/generate the new qr code in their pos app. Like Jesus, people get new phone all the time, so you would think it’s standard procedure. How do you not know how to do something so basic? So basically they want you to quit their membership once you get a new phone? Lol

I’ve been a member of this gym since 2018 and it has seen better days without a doubt. It’s not uncommon for the 5AM staff to not show up. In fact, I’m writing this review at 5:30AM from the parking lot because no one is here to open. In the past few months I’ve also noticed that the thermostat seems to be set at a temperature that’s probably more comfortable for the staff than it is for the people working out. Depending on which area of the gym you’re in, you can literally feel heat blowing on you sometimes lol. They have HUGE ceiling fans that I haven’t seen them turn on since……can’t remember when. Those are my biggest complaints and I don’t feel that either are unreasonable asks. This gym is acceptable but you will need to adjust your expectations (to trend downwards) before signing a contract.

Worst gym in Memphis. Do not sign any personal or group training contracts because they're near impossible to break- even if you are injured by a trainer. The managers/employees are all trash and give you the run around for everything. Today some random guy named Daniel told me he couldn't be trusted, refused to give me the manager's name, and promised he couldn't do anything about the broken pool, or refund my money, and said that I NEEDED TO FEEL SORRY FOR HIM BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE MAD AT HIM (then fix the problem, close, or return people's money)

And they will actively charge you after you've tried to get them to stop for months. Then corporate will call constantly too. Even after you stop payment and dispute the charges. Truly baffling how this company has not been sued into oblivion. But I guess that's why they have to keep changing names.
The facility has become run down, with a locker room door that hasn't had a handle the entire time I've been a member. They don't oil and maintain the equipment, the pool heater went out, and half the perks they advertise are unavailable.

This is one of the nicest gym I have ever been to, the new management team is incredible and super friendly and goes above and beyond to help everyone weather its workouts, form, or just any questions in general. One of the things I love most about La Fitness is they have no contracts and everything is month to month. Not a company who wants you to join for your money, they want you to join because they want to see you succeed and obtain all our goals. Always feel welcomed every single time I walk in.

I am staying temporarily in Memphis on business and have been at this location for about three months. It's a large space with a very good variety of equipment. Well-monitored parking is always abundant no matter how many people are inside the gym.

When entering, the first thing I always notice is how clean the place is. You can smell the freshly scrubbed fragrance no matter where you are in the building. That never happens in a gym and that is very important to me.

I've noticed that Bobby, who appears to be the only person doing the cleaning, is really focused on his work. You won't find dust or dirt accumulated anywhere and even the locker rooms are cleaned daily. I've seen Bobby looking for any smudges or streaks on the windows after he's washed them trying to make sure they are 100% clean. I'm usually there in the mornings and I've also noticed how amiable he is with the members even while he's busy working. Everyone seems to like him.

Also the people working the front desk always have a warm greeting when you come in and when you leave...sometimes while they're also busy with someone else. As a member, that really makes a difference and it doesn't happen at all locations I've attended.

I've lived in a lot of cities across the US as well as having lived in Europe and Asia and this is certainly one of my favorite gyms anywhere. I will miss this location when I move back to California in a couple of months.

Pool heater breaks, no sign on door. No sign at entrance. Swim School will show up and take over 1/3 of the pool, then you have kids running around the locker room. They're not supposed to be in there, but the staff won't do anything about it. That dumbbell rack has never been cleaned. You can tell by the smell.
Hours are pretty terrible, too.

I swim 5 days a week. The staff is so kind and attentive. Brandon at front desk answers any questions. Bobby makes sure we we are ok with the pool and the cleaning. Tracy the personal fitness lady is so pleasant and will answer any questions we have. Great staff!! Love to swim!!

This gym is not made for big people. I don’t mean big like overweight, however your experience might be worsened if you were such. I’m 6’3” 205lbs and I have broad shoulders; I can barely fit in any of the machines, I can’t adjust most of them to fit me, the bench press feels like i’m laying on a 2 by 4, and I maxed out all the machines I’ve used in the past 4 days. I would not recommend going here if you’re actually trying to get big and strong, the ceiling is very low in terms of growth.

They have reduced their weekend hours, closing at 6:00pm, and lock the doors at 5. I argued with the employee to let me in (since the gym was open for an hour), while baking outside in the sun. I won't be renewing, due to the reduced hours and ridiculous locking of doors an hour prior to closing. I'll be joining Crunch next month.

On April 1st, 2024 when I came out to see that 3 cars had been broken into, including mine.

The next week I went to this location with a plastic on the window. When I came back outside, there were 3 more cars that had gotten vandalized and broken into.

On April 15, 2024 I went to the same location with a plastic still on my window. When I came back outside, I came out to 3 more cars being vandalized,including mine. Now i have both my drivers and passengers windows busted and with plastic.

The people here from corporate management on down are terrible. No integrity of any kind. They are so nice when they are trying to get you signed up for things and will tell you every lie in the book to sign a deal. But it’s all smoke and mirrors. The commission must be really good. My husband and I decided to try the Poplar location for our morning workout today 4/9. We were greeted but instantly turned around because the associate said I wasn’t in the system as a VIP Guest. Keep in mind we have been to multiple locations and I’ve been able to sign in on the guest list. This option was never offered at this location. She said they didn’t have a sign in sheet and that my husband would have to add me as a vip guest and if he needed help he would have to wait for another associate to get there. All of this happened within 2-3 minutes. She proceeded to turn her computer around to show I wasn’t a vip member. I definitely didn’t feel welcomed . I felt she could have helped out a bit more than just turning us away. We will not be coming back to this location ever!

Will is always so great and accommodating when you come to set up a plan for general membership and for personal training! He’s always a smiling face and you can tell he cares about the people that come in. The facility is always clean and neat, Including the locker rooms. The Esporta I visited was in Memphis. I was visiting from out of town (from SoCal). I loved that my multi-club LA Fitness membership worked here. The facility was clean and the weights were plenty and adequate (I power lift). Not busy for a Sunday which I love. Highly recommend.

I had my daughter inquire about a summer membership because she needed to train for cheer and she was returning back to college in the fall. I didn't think this would be a problem because I was able to pay for a short term membership in the past. However, after being billed two consecutive months of over $450 I discovered that the manager, Will had signed my daughter for a year membership along with a year of personal training. He lied to her and stated that this was the best option for her even when my daughter clearly stated that she needed something short term. So when I confronted the manager about the situation the only option my daughter was given to get out of the personal training contract was to pay 50% of the annual charge which amounted to $2,500. This is absurd and definitely unfair. I truly believe that Will and the Esporta sales practices are unethical, conniving and misleading. Please be leery of this club and take your business elsewhere.

I have had the worst experience from Esporta especially dealing with their training. Customer Service was extremely rude. Do not sign up for their training because it is a trap to take your money. Esporta does not care about their customers only how much money they can steal from a consumer. Esporta employees do not give full information and they give incorrect information. Once your training contract is done they still take money out of your account and Esporta does not want to reimburse you for their wrong doing. If you want a trainer I suggest getting a private trainer. DO NOT sign up for their training contract. They only want your money.

Basketball court is always chained up ever since ESPORTA took over this LA fitness. Turning more into a planet fitness type of gym also, ATC is definitely the better choice for people trying to just lift as it’s way cheaper and it’s open 24 hrs. I wanted to cancel my membership but they convinced me to just freeze it but didn’t let me know about the annual fee that would still come out unless I had canceled it. I think this Esporta location is fine if you’re looking for a gym with a convenient location and don’t mind dirty and unorganized facilities. I am happy paying $10/month for my membership here, but I would not recommend this location if your membership structure costs any more. The attached photos were taken over the course of the past four months during which the turf area has gotten increasingly messier. When I ask the staff about cleaning up this area, I am met with either an attitude of extreme inconvenience or am told that this level of disarray is what I should expect on a daily basis at the gym. I generally view this cleanup opportunity as extra cardio, but I think the staff here should absolutely take more initiative either in disciplining members who contribute to this mess or cleaning up after them. I view this obstacle course as a safety hazard for the members of this location.

As a member of La Fitness since 2013 now Esporta Fitness I am hopeful that my experience at Esporta Fitness 4572 poplar, Memphis Tennessee can improve unmissable for their harsh culture and customer service to members who attend this gym for all its purpose. As of June 2021 I have encountered several run ins with leadership about the safety of members, car break ins, poor culture, and lack of information for members playing basketball at this location. They will close the basketball courts for long periods of time and open the courts back up with no clear plans or solutions. This gym was one of the best in the city now one of the worse.

Since changing brands from LA Fitness to a lower standard brand now know as Esporta fitness so has the cleanliness and options for variety of classes. The whole gym is disgustingly filthy especially the bathrooms. The classes don't align with the app's scheduling, group fitness is not well thought out, seems to be just thrown together without an exercise criteria or plan. I'm disappointed in the overall experience although I have faith that maybe they'll get their act together. Especially with a few calls to corporate. This gym was top notch when it was LA Fitness, but because they are now trying to compete with other low end gyms and offer lower membership ship prices it shows from some staff, not all, that seem to not care to the confusing and over crowded classes that don't start or end on time. Seems the instructors are doing whatever they want with no concerm for the members that pay. I'm frustrated about my gym and how it's going to the dogs.

Memebership is good price and easy cancellation by calling corporate if need be. They will try and talk you into group training for 60$/month and if you agree then your going to be signed into a contract they will NOT say anything about. Therefore if for any reason you dont make it one day without calling you will be charged. If for any reason you can no longer come to the training then you will be stuck paying 265$ to buy out of the contract. Avoid group training, you can literally do the same thing they are doing through the glass. The gym is very nice though and thats why im actually giving 3 stars.

This is an AMAZING facility, the moment I walked in the door to take advantage of their one week free promotion I liked EVERYTHING about the place. The young ladies that work in the mornings at the front desk have such pleasant personalities (Employees such as these are the determining factor when it comes to if I want to be a member at a gym or shop at a particular retailer)

Based on the employees I came in contact with at this location I would definitely become a member, they speak as you enter and are very helpful and stay on task. One young lady that works the front desk was even concerned that I was wearing my mask on the treadmill (That is what you call going Above and Beyond of what is required of you) That is a GREAT employee.

The cleaning crew is CONSTANTLY cleaning, the place is literally spotless (Trust me I was actually looking, lol)

New machines, lots of space, pool, and the CLEANLINESS is on point throughout this facility. Keep up the good work!
