I had the absolute honor of being part of the PGA HOPE for Veterans program at Towhee Golf Club in Spring Hill, Tennessee, and I can honestly say it was one of the most meaningful experiences of my life.

Coach Natalie Sheary led the program with incredible passion, patience, and heart. She’s not only a talented professional golfer, but also one of the most genuine and caring people I’ve met. She gave up her own time to help us Veterans reconnect with the game, with the outdoors, and with each other.

For many of us, this program was more than just golf. It gave us a sense of purpose, camaraderie, and peace. Natalie created a safe, fun, and positive environment that reminded us that there’s life and joy beyond the struggles we face. Her dedication, encouragement, and genuine care for every Vet in that group truly set her apart.

My wife wanted to start golfing with me last year, so we found Natalie and got her setup to start taking lessons. They clicked immediately and she made what can sometimes be the frustrating early stages of golf very fun. After a while I decided to clean some things up in my game as well and we have been working on swing corrections, mechanics, and overall golf IQ/ acumen/ approach to the game. Natalie is an incredible teacher, utilizing aids and drills, as well as technology and video review to break things down as simply, or as detailed as you’d like. With my busy travel schedule, Natalie and I have found ways to diagnose and approach mechanics via the use of videos, where she’s able to break them down and provide feedback via phone app. This is invaluable to me as I am able to continue progressing even during times when I can’t make it to a lesson. Her access to both indoor and outdoor facilities make the versatility and availability of her lessons appealing as well.

Being able to learn from someone who has played the game at the highest level has been an awesome experience for both Nicki and I. Outside of the individual lessons, Natalie’s “School of Golf” clinics and events are top notch. They are reasonably priced, I always learn a lot, and have, and continue to meet great people. I’ve been taking lessons with Natalie since late Summer of 2024. I started as a complete beginner at 35 years old and broke 100 within 4 months of playing.

Natalie is a terrific teacher. She is patient and exacting at the same time. She is creative and understands no single approach can teach someone the game. She takes our uniqueness into consideration. She is a great innovator and works with your natural swing movements much like Butch Harmon as opposed to a Hank Haney who has a method he wants everyone to pattern.
