First of all. Gym is waaaaaay over priced. Second, they put you into a 3 year contract (unfortunately this was not disclosed to me when i first signed up, instead it was in the fine print). Third, when i moved out of state and canceled my membership the people i talked to never ended up canceling my membership and charged me 2 additional months. Fourth, i finally got my membership canceled after moving out of state and they are now trying to charge me $444.78 for a cancel fee...even though i moved out of state. I've been trying to get a refund for the additional months they charged me after i canceled, yet they have not done so. Some of the worst customer service I have ever experienced. It's a decent facility, but the perks are not worth their terrible service!

I think the place is great. And it goes for all locations of National Fitness. The change in ownership and attitude among the employees In early 2025 has been a bigger shift in customer service than I've ever seen with a company. This was the most toxic place for years. Publicly admitting bad customer service with employee replies to Google reviews and the BBB. The change in memberships from 3-year contracts that were impossible to get out of to one year contracts. But the pay a little extra for month-to- month, which brings them in line with other major gym franchises, is genius. I never would have signed up for this place if they didn't make that change.
I've lost 70 Ibs and have another 20 lb to go. And some of the biggest credit for this goes to this gym. Though some places sell themselves as 'judgment free zones" I have felt less judgment and more encouragement from National Fitness than I ever did at that other place. The employees are way nicer and never have an attitude towards you or look down on you. Anyone who looks at reviews that are from 2024 and back need to realize that this is not the same place anymore.

Since 5 months ago 2 pools are unavailable. I have a family membership every month they charge me 80$ without any services. My sons they didn’t come to gym because of those two pools are under maintenance. But they charge them every month I really don’t know what should we do . When you get membership they force you to sign 3 years contract

Hands down, the staff at the Walbrook Knoxville location is unmatched. They take the time to get to know the members as individuals, their routines, what kind of drinks they like, etc. From management to trainers, to front desk staff, the courtesy and care they provide to the members is absolutely top notch. I could go on all day.

Horrible experience. Signed up for a month-to-month contract, and the lady who took down the information deceived us and made it an annual contract. She was later fired for mishandling accounts which was confirmed by employees at the front desk. Upon trying to cancel the account 9 months later, we were hit with a large cancellation fee due to this incident with the fired employee.
Spoke with the general manager, who stated that she was let go, and then caught himself and tried to lie his way out of having said it. Very poor business attitude once he was caught in a lie. Refused to waive the cancellation fee despite what had happened. To make matters worse, this man reached across the desk and put his hands on me at one point.
This is an incredibly shady National Fitness center, and we highly recommend that you use another fitness center for your workouts.
Also of note, grandson came home twice with a rash after swimming in the pool.
Lastly, don't expect any paperwork beyond receiving it through emails, and good luck with that. Trying to get confirmation of canceling an account via paperwork is not an option.
Just an absolutely horrible experience. Not recommended in any way at this time. There are much better options out there for health and exercise without worrying about being taken to the bank for something you were deceived in signing up for.

Please don't get membership they are scams every time I come here either something is broken or closed they always have an issue today I went and the kids pool was broken the outside pool had some issues and they said we'll you can go to the hot tub I went to the hot tub and it is disgusting and if you get an membership they make you get it for three years I got this membership and I wanted to cancel it cause of all the issues every time and the manger said if you want to cancel the membership you have to pay in full that's how they win when you come the first time to get membership the manager. It's so nice with the smile in his face but when you trying to make a complaint he's a jerk . And plus people aren't nasty come in the pool in underwear you cannot count with the kids at the pool it's disgusting old man's changings close in front of you it's just disgusting they are going in the hot tub and rubbing their back in the hot tub. That was making me one time throw up they have to have some rules they don't the water in the pool is really dory kids are drinking water from the pool that's disgusting . Please don't make membership you will regret it

**Updating to include that despite the front-facing reply, nobody ever reached out to "gather more information."
My wife and I cancelled our membership after nearly two years of complaints (documented) about an aggressive member were never solved appropriately. Management assured me it was going to be handled but it never was. During our last conversation, manager Rob said (paraphrased), "I'm not saying fight the guy but if you need to shut him up ..." This isn't a professional way to escalate issues. Not sure why nothing was ever done but they lost two memberships as a result. I tried for almost two years to handle it the right way.
Overall, if you can look past the cleanliness issues and frequently broken equipment, the gym is decent. Lots of amenities and probably the largest gym floor I've ever gotten to use. Front desk staff is always kind in the early AM hours (I cannot speak for afternoon/evening shifts).
We've since started at the Y and enjoy it exponentially more, despite having a smaller floor.

Much better than the Gold's gym down the street. No empty towels and five people at the counter was nice. The staff greeted me. The bathrooms are pretty clean and stocked which is a nice change. Even though ten times the people are there at the same time than at Golds, the large space make it seem spacious. Even though it is 80 bucks a month as opposed to 50, it is like paying for a Cadillac instead of settling for a Yugo.
Now three months in and astounded by the number of former Golds gym members I see here. The Golds is literally bleeding out with their members coming to NFC for refuge.

Huge facility but not much equipment and the lap pool is not even good. Maintenance also takes weeks to fix small issues. Really not enough to make this place worth over $50 dollars a month. I’ve seen more value at $15 a month gyms. Edit: i cancelled my membership and now they have sent me a $900 collections letter in the mail. Do not get a membership here. I promise you it is not worrh it.

I had a great experience signing up at National Fitness thanks to Joanna. She was welcoming, professional, and never pushy. Her sales approach was clear and low-pressure, and she took the time to explain the membership options in a straightforward way. She answered all my questions patiently and showed me around the gym, which made the whole process easy. Overall a pleasant experience from signing up to working out.

About 3 months ago I started coming to national fitness signature expecting to do what I always do which is workout and fall off after a few weeks because of traveling, food, and everyday life that just takes over. Fortunately for me, I found more then a gym, I found a community. The comfortable became uncomfortable and the uncomfortable became growth. I had the pleasure of meeting a couple staff members, Dennis and Joanna, who are always showing encouragement and who probably have never met a stranger. This gym allows you to grow on your schedule. Whatever you want out of it you will receive. I couldn't be more happy with the facility, faculty, and price. If you're not working out at a National Fitness then tour it, and give it a shot, what do you have to lose!!

This is a difficult review to write, but I feel it’s necessary. My family and I have been loyal members of this gym for 12 years and have never had any issues until recently.
An employee named Joann White has repeatedly harassed my intellectually disabled daughter and my wife, who is Latina and does not speak English fluently. Joann has yelled at them in the locker room, accusing my daughter of leaving water on the floor after showering. We’ve taken extra steps to make sure this isn’t happening, but the harassment continues.
What makes this even more concerning is that Joann comes in while they are using the facilities and proceeds to take a shower herself, meaning she’s most likely not even on the clock during these interactions—she is using the facilities personally. Despite this, she aggressively confronts my wife and daughter, which has made them feel unsafe and unwelcome.
We’ve brought this to the attention of management, specifically Rob Jones, I hope you do something about it. After 12 years of peaceful membership, this treatment feels discriminatory and deeply upsetting. I am sharing this in hopes that the gym will take these complaints seriously and that other families never have to experience this kind of behavior.

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR A MEMBERSHIP!!!! In November 2024, NFC explained they were under new management and there were NO contracts for a new membership. Fast forward to attempting to cancel the membership, they sign you up for a YEAR and give you the OPTION to pay monthly or a year upfront. IT IS A CONTRACT!!!! Manager was dismissive and NOT helpful. Will not recommend, will NEVER return.

I was there today 6/13. There was 2 Maintenance men roaming like nothing in the women’s locker room. No warning! Yes a lady with black shirt was with him but not prior. Both walked in at the same time then she left and the two men were there like nothing. Then the one with the white hair kept going through the showers and lockers real chill with a smile like he belonged there and like I had no reason to be alarmed or surprised! They need to post signs prior or close the locker room down when maintenance or repair needs done. It is not okay to not post notices and make proper plans. I left early because of it to shower at home.

Beware! My family & I signed up for a month to month membership. We were very adamant about getting into NO CONTRACT. We’re told they were not the old NFC anymore. Went to cancel our membership bc we will be out of town for 6 months. We were told we have to pay $$$$$$ to break our contract & that we were in a 1 year contract. We didn’t sign up for this nor did we sign any paperwork. They claim to have my signature on file, which is not my signature. Go somewhere else! This place is not that good anyway. Broken equipment just laying around. Sketchy bathrooms & basketball courts are always booked on weekends with volleyball events or something & childcare is always full. I joined bc my wife wanted to & they claimed they were not the “old” NFC anymore. Shady employees & GM (Rob). Check their BBB ratings & comments before you join. Go somewhere else!

Honestly I would give no stars, if I could:
Price: More expensive than any comparable gym and they push long contracts.
Equipment: broken for years. Not well maintained at all.
Cleanliness: the men's locker room is absolutely disgusting at times.
Personal training: most of the trainers are "bros" and just want to talk about their gym crushes. The ones I've had that actually care don't show up consistently or quit very soon after starting.
Bottom line: Every other option is a better option.

It's an awesome facility. With new ownership they are doing construction at Tazwell and Merchants location so I've decided to come to West location. They have a big pool just for kids but the very selfish parents bring their kids to jump and splash in the jacuzzi and heated pool that clearly states kids under 13 aren't allowed 🙄 a woman tried to accuse me of taking pictures of her kids when I was looking for a charging plug and I thought we ll why do you have your kids in the adult section anyway. I've raised my kids i don't really care to deal with others. It's rude.

Facility is nice for the most part but when things break, they stay broken for a long time, especially the pool and sauna areas.
Basketball court is nice, but it’s often rented out to NON-members for cheer events, basketball practice, etc., which is extremely frustrating because I can’t use the facility I’m paying for.
The most frustrating part, however, was when after two years of business, I was charged a $35 fee because my credit card had expired. When I asked to speak to someone about it, they encouraged me to call the corporate number or leave a Google review, so here I am.
It’s amazing when businesses are willing to sacrifice good service for a relatively small amount of money

The West Knoxville NFC is the best health club I have ever belonged to, and I've been working out in gyms for over 50 years in five states. The facilities are clean, the equipment is in good working order, there is an astonishing variety of equipment available, and the staff uniformly friendly and helpful. And the cost is extremely reasonable--I pay less than I had been paying for a previous gym with far fewer amenities. I'll be a member here for the foreseeable future!

Pros:
Great pool facilities
Excellent staff
Plenty of sport court options
Most classes included with membership
No mandatory contract policy
Cons:
Very busy since the membership change
Only 5 power racks in the facility and only 3 with space
Nowhere near enough safety collars for weights. There might be 6 in the whole place, so they’re short by about 30 sets.
Equipment is very aged, particularly weights and cardio machines
So your views on this place may vary widely based on your needs. If you need a full fitness center with childcare and amenities, this is one of the best options alongside Fort Sanders. If you need a gym and an exercise space, National Signature is way overpriced for what you get. None of the cardio equipment is new or setup to any connected fitness platform. Lifting equipment is falling apart and not being addressed. As one of the most expensive gym options in Knoxville, I’d expect a lot higher quality equipment.

There are annual Maintenance fees, as well as additional fees to use amenities such as Red Light therapy, but it has needed bulbs for almost a year (repeatedly reported) >> 10+ bulbs of 30ish are dead. Additionally:
- Need more mats available, especially in Stretch/Ab room/etc. areas
- Cold in early mornings during winter
- Children still allowed in workout areas

I realize this place does contracts, or at least they did when we signed up. We signed a 3 year contract. After paying our membership for over 2 years, they would not let me cancel our membership unless we paid a $250 fee and the following month’s payment of about $120. We’re so tight, I couldn’t do that. Even after explaining I wanted to cancel due to incurring some serious medical debt we’re struggling to pay off. National Fitness Center will be a constant reminder of one of the poor financial choices I made as a husband & father, allowing us to sign a lengthy contract with a gym. At least we learned our lesson. 🤷🏻♂️
(EDIT) I replied to the email listed below, got response. They’re just replying to reviews to have good PR but not actually doing anything about it.

There’s a bunch content out there right about how this business is “under new management.” They pretty have the worst reputation of any business in the area.
I’ve been a member for a while now. Never missed a payment, never been late. This past month I got a new debit card. I tried to update it in their app and the app wouldn’t work correctly. By the time I could get into the club a couple days later, I’d been charged a fee that was over 50% of the cost of my membership. $35 for being late one time because their app wouldn’t work.
I reached out via email almost a week ago now to address the issue and they never even contacted me back. All their new sponsored ads are being ridiculed and for good reason. Go anywhere else.

I’m not usually a review kind of person but this business is exceptionally bad. I got roped into a 3 year contract when I mentioned I only wanted a one year contract which the GM agreed to and switched when signing paperwork. I had a money situation within my first thirty days of the contract so I requested a cancellation (which the contract says I am allowed within thirty days of beginning) and he told me he was unable to perform that for me so I was stuck making payments for three years. I’m finally to the end of my three year contract and I’ve called several times to find out steps to cancel since they have switched to a month to month membership away from contracts. Each time I called I couldn’t get a direct answer on the process and when I finally got given a corporate number, I ended up on a line that was a robot and hung up on me twice. I finally got in touch with someone today and now that I am within thirty days of my contract ending I’m required to pay another month worth of membership. I have told every single person who has thought of getting a membership that it is a waste of money and a horrible gym.
If you want my complaints about the gym itself, they have a plethora of treadmills which I rarely saw get used to the full capacity meanwhile the weightlifting equipment (which most people seemed to be there for) were almost always in use. So if you wanted to workout for an hour, plan to be at the gym for several because there’s usually only one or two machines for preference and a smaller selection of weights than cheaper gyms in the area offer. The gym itself is fine and clean but it may as well be with the over priced membership they charge. If you plan to get a membership here think otherwise and please find a better gym in the area for a cheaper price, I promise you’ll have a better experience.

Horrendous experience for the past two months straight! Mon-Fri there is an opening front desk attendant named Jennifer! Never triggered a reason to be treated so bad in my life! From first encounter to today Jan 6th 2025, is straight attitude, motions with hands instead of words, and personal phone over customer service every single time I have a question or need service. I’m only writing this because I finally asked ANOTHER service member if there’s anyone else experiencing this and they said theirs constant complaints of attitude and disrespect from members but the manager Rob won’t do anything because she’s a FEMALE! The signature club is going down the hill for quite some time but this tops it for me 🤬

Cons: Maintenance issues that remain ignored.
1) woman’s sink leaks and a rag stays wrapped around it as if that fixes it. It’s been that way about 6 mos.
2) The light bulbs over the woman’s sink has been out for nearly 3 years!
3) broken lockers hanging on its hinges
4) TVs were not available for over a month and are usually only half in use. Even the clocks on the walls are wrong.
5) Pool/family changing area ALWAYS smells like dirty diapers and urine from the changing table and diaper bin. One cannot change in there without gagging.
No Access to basketball during any prime time because it’s rented out with kids being bussed in droves for cheerleading, volleyball etc !
This is why we left another gym to come here and use the basketball court but there is no reason to advertise it because it’s used around the clock for non members that fill up the bathrooms and foyer with screaming kids. And then the pick up line outside the gym blocks all traffic sitting at front door like a school pick up zone! This wasn’t the presentation when we joined!
Members that drop huge weights up on top floor are never told to stop as it’s against the rules and very disruptive downstairs!
Children use equipment and cardio area and employees never speak up to implement the rules.
The music is a variety but at times screams loud rap and very distasteful music that is what you hear in a golds not an expensive fitness club such as this one.
Over the years , we’ve witnessed people walk in and not scan their card and just get away with no contact with the front desk . Sometimes the employee was sitting at the table and never looked up for anything. Occasionally we’d watch them walk straight into the courts with their own basketball and no one cared. While we pay 10x the price of the local gym monthly.
For the most part .. I’d expect this at a lower caliber gym where you pay $10-15 month. When we pay what we do we expect it to stand out as much above the average and it’s gone down hill for years.

I'm honestly shocked by all the negative reviews, I have had nothing but great experiences so far.
And bonus: all the body balance teachers are absolutely fabulous.
My ONLY complaint so far is that there are only 3 exercise bikes in the gym area, and none of them are very hood 😬😅 but other than that specific machine, everything has been amazing so far
Actually my other complaint is just that they are not open 24 hours, or at the very least , open late on weekends like they are during the week..

I would highly recommend that anyone who is considering joining a gym run as far and as fast as you can away from this entire organization. I had a baby last november and had to move back home, as I am a single mother. I paused my account (and still had to pay for each month) and began trying to cancel the whole membership in june of this year. I spoke with several employees that said if i moved more than 20 miles away the cancelation fee would be waved. I moved 50 miles away. When trying to cancel they informed me that their employees are all liars for telling me I don’t have to pay a cancelation fee and that I most certainly do have to pay $195 to cancel. On top of that, I have to provide an egregious amount of information proving that I moved, including proof that I moved from my old apartment (which is now owned by another company so they obviously don’t have the paperwork). All of this to tell me that I actually don’t qualify to cancel because the company I work for is based out of knoxville. I have not had the funds available in my account therefore every time they try to charge my card it declines. I have been back and forth with them for months. They finally called me telling me they needed payment immediately and when i cried on the phone they said they would talk to the manager and get back with me. They never did. It was then that they sent me a letter in the mail saying that they would take legal action if i didnt pay nearly $600 in 7 days. I didn’t get the letter until day 8.
This company is corrupt. They do not care about their members. They are greedy and they are as good as a scam. Save yourself the headache and go to club4

I’m going to give this place 3 stars instead of one for now because I’m in the process of cancelling with them, and depending how they handle that I will add or subtract stars.
I’m a professional athlete and at the time a single mother, so I needed a place with childcare so I could accomplish my strength training. I’ve been to many gyms across the US and also own one in Colorado so I’m giving my experienced feedback.
The childcare: my child is 1.5 years old. She can be needy, and misses her mama. Totally normal behavior, but anytime she made a peep or wanted the staff to play with her they would call me. Two separate occasions I came to pick her up and she had a crayon in her mouth and one time a colored pencil. I’ve worked in daycare before and while this is not a certified daycare facility, age groups should be separated for developmental purposes. The older kids should be able to color/draw and the babies don’t need access to that stuff. I’m not a big fan but I am grateful to the staff who did love on my baby girl making her feel comfortable, but it was luck of the draw.
The pool: we only went once but my toddler had fun, so as long as it’s open I think it’s good. For what members pay it wouldn’t be hard to offer towels though, the amount of up charges this place does is not member friendly.
The gym: I loved the performance fitness section (CrossFit type). I got all my lifts done there and enjoyed it. I also ran a lot. The treadmills are hit and miss, some are broken but no sign on them, clunky belts etc. I loved the sauna, and it was never over packed, always hot. The bathroom was mostly clean. The staff was always friendly to me as well.
Contract: When I signed up I made it clear I might be returning to Colorado, and the agent who signed me up assured me it was an easy process to cancel with proof of address etc. I have all that proof and just started this process today. So I will update this review based on how this goes. I see others have had a difficult time. The 3 year agreement is highway robbery tbh but as a gym owner myself I know that I signed up for it so it’s nothing I can do but do the cancellation process.

National Fitness Center is the worst gym I have ever been a member. I signed up for three years and completed that contract. I called West Signature weeks ago to cancel my membership as my contract had been fulfilled and they stated I needed to speak with manager and was placed on hold. I was then told the manager was on a tour and I would need to call back. I remembered to call back today and they stated now they need a 30-day notice and I must go to the gym to meet with the manager to cancel an already expired contract. Not to mention they charge a maintenance fee above the normal expensive membership two times a year of $25 per person which is ridiculous when their membership fees are already high as it is which is applicable on the July payment which is due tomorrow.
This gym has been nothing but problems for my family. Every time we go in, a message plays that there is a message on my account. That message is that my son is too young to tan. This is annoying and always alerts the staff to a normally self check-in process. They advertise that they have basketball gyms and tennis courts however they rent those spaces out to private clubs so they are not available for paying members. Also, the Merchants location once told my son that he was not able to use the weights until after he was 16 years old and we had to home without working out that morning all because she got the rules wrong. We called corporate and they did nothing but correct the employee with no compensation for our hassle even with the high membership fees. We pay almost $5 per day and $7 per day on the two months of year they charge a maintenance fee. Please do yourself a favor and never sign up with them. They will never let you go.

I love the wide range of available options here. The provided mats need to be replaced and the hot tub was gross one time that I went in and I have never gone back in. I also wish I could book appointments for stretching, personal trainers etc. entirely online. With today's technology, there is no excuse.
Aside from those small complaints, it is a really nice gym - especially with the child care and an indoor track. I have gone to Planet Fitness and Gold's Gym, and I would recommend the National Fitness Center over those two.

This place couldn’t care LESS about their members. If you have to cancel because you lost your job, can’t pay for your house, totaled your car, undergoing medical issues, whatever it is they do NOT care. The only way you can actually get out of your contract is if you are moving and even then they require proof of your new residence, AND new place of work…. On top of that I was told you STILL have to pay $195…. Truly baffling. They really know how to burn bridges with their loyal members. They won’t even help by lowering your monthly payment to supplement making cancelling your membership nearly freaking impossible. Once my contract ends in December they can expect to lose a loyal member for good. Good thing Crunch Fitness is opening in Fountain City! ;)

Do not sign up unless you never want to leave this gym. You are locked in for 3 years, cancellation requires the sacrifice of your left arm and a thousand virgins. Obvious exaggeration, but seriously, you can only cancel if you physically move away from the gym, and then you pay an additional fee, provide proof of new residence, and send it all via certified mail. Oh yeah, once the contract is complete and you think you're out of it, you're wrong. Their contracts apparently auto renew, even if you request to get out at the completion of the contract before it expires. I guess that's one way to keep membership numbers up.

This place absolutely will not work with you at all if you need financial help. Had some unexpected expenses come up and needed to freeze my account for 2 or 3 months. They offered to freeze it but said I still had to pay. What's the point of freezing then?! Signed me and my wife to a 3 year contract. Come to learn, they had an 18 month option that was not disclosed to us. We both transferred jobs that are now 45 minutes away and are stuck with them for one more year. No way to cancel. Most gyms offer you a cancellation fee to be able to cancel. Not them. They will not work with you at all financially. And for the monthly price plus bi-annual maintenance fees, It's absurd how dirty the gym is, how many pieces of equipment are broken, how long they stay broken, how many times and length of times the sauna, steam room and hot tubs are not working. Nobody seems to know how to make anything at the Juice Bar. They are definitely ALL about Sales and money. ZERO customer service. I am so very disappointed. We will not be renewing our contract when it comes time. There's a reason they have a 3.6 Google rating and getting worse. Do not sign up here.

Buyers beware contracts are extremely predatory!!!!!. I’m not one for leaving bad reviews to business but this is beyond ridiculous. I signed a 18 month contract with the gym because it’s the lowest they offer to come to find out that they have in their records it was a 36mon contract. Idk who in there right mind would sign a 36mo contract with a gym but far be it from to do so. I told them I wiuld not pay that either there records are mistaken or whoever it’s was that I did the contract did some shady sleight of hand with my signing process. I was threatened with a lawsuit if I didn’t not payout my contract.

When signing up there is a 18 month contract or 3 year, so if you are signing up here prepare to be committed to this place, but I think compared to every other gym it is a 100% worth it. They have a lot more to offer like a pool, basketball court and indoor track. Numerous machines that give you a variety in your workout routine. I would make it 5 stars if the equipment was a little better maintained. Some of them have rust on them and you have to press down all the weight to change it. Since the gym has so many people going im sure the equipment wears down fast though. Also their child care either needs more people watching the kids or needs a limit. We brought our kids to it on a Saturday and there were kids packed in like sardines with 3 people watching them. You could tell they were overwhelmed and should be able to tell us as parents they reached maximum capacity.

Unfortunately, interpersonal issues with an individual on staff was most disheartening to me. There was unfortunately some tension. I value my friendships and respect the needs of theirs but sadness is the result of a disagreement. It is always best to resolve a disagreement or misunderstanding when it is smaller rather than letting it " fester".
I am still a member of the gym in good-standing but it shows the human side of people. I had a bad experience at a class on dance additionally in January of January 2022.
While this gym does encourage a sense of "relationship" , not an easy thing to accomplish.i would suggest better and more effective communication to avoid this but this is our world and our mission to accomplish.

Needless to say my dad and I Finally got an appointment with Gavin. He called my mother (neither me or my father) and said he needed to “leave for personal reasons” and rescheduled us for the following day at 12. Ok great so we get here the following day and the front desk personnel says that “Gavin left; he shot you an e-mail that the machine is down”. First of all I never got an email. Second, when you communicate with someone the day of an appointment you do not “email” them. And 3rd the machine was not down!! So I waited to speak to the manager who was apparently “busy”. One of the reasons we chose National Fitness Center was the child care option. It makes it possible for us to workout while giving our child a safe place to be. So why then would the service be arbitrarily removed during the holidays? This is frustrating and disappointing. I'm glad we are at the end of our contract because at this point it seems like National Fitness Center does a lot of bait and switch tactics, all while try to get us to spend more money. NFC has gone downhill in the past year, 1 year ago today it wasn’t this bad, the gym has likely tripled in occupancy all while machines continue to be under repair and never fixed. One water fountain has been out of order for one year and counting, the chin/dip assist machine is disgusting and covered in oil on the handles, every single machine or area is jam packed with people even as late as 10pm on a weekday, as I write this at night I am sitting in the gym unable to hit the bench because everyone is full. It has gotten way too crowded without the gym expanding or machines being fixed. The pools have gotten disgusting, and everything other than staff friendliness has gone downhill, its the only thing they got going for them, I definitely will not be renewing my contract when the term comes up here soon. I do not recommend this gym at all, it looks good at face value but in reality you will likely live to regret it not to mention the long contracts.

It's a big facility but the pools are so poorly maintained that I got a rash whenever I went. In my opinion it wasn't worth the money since the aquatic classes weren't usable due to the water quality, other classes were frequently full, you couldn't tell when the movies in the movie theater room were going to start, and there's no bring-a-friend option.

superb facility. Certainly the crown jewel in their clubs in this area. The staff is generally helpful although recently, when I had terrible sciatica and was walking the long distance to get to the locker room, I had to stop and set my bag down three or four times. Staff members walked by without even noticing me. I certainly needed help and no one offered to simply help carry my bag. There is no accommodation for helping me, who cannot walk well, to get to the locker room and the therapy pool. Professionalism in the building seems to be toward the look and feel, but not necessarily service. For people that are in great shape, this is not a problem. For those of us in more challenged conditions, there is an air of indifference. I know that it is difficult to find people who really understand service positions these days. A lot of millennials seem to have a certain indifference towards themselves and others. This is a ridiculous generalization, I realize, but for comparison, take GenZ. They are quite different, and generally more compassionate. A customer and a member of the fitness center should not have to ask for help when it is clear that they need some. This is not just about me, I have witnessed this on 2 other occasions with other older members who were having difficulty walking through the beautiful vast lobby and building to get all the way to the back where the locker rooms are. NFC is a very professional and profoundly prepared space for taking care of your body. I do wish that the staff had a broader perception of service to their members. The entire organization offers excellent prices for a superb facility.

EDIT: Most broke my leg on one of their cardio cycles. It's the only one foot straps, so yeah never mind this place is dangerous. It's got pretty good facilities, but honestly the contract just makes it not worth it. The only way to get out of it is if you die.
There's about 5 or 6 machines in the main workout area that are out of order and been so for weeks.
Also, they really need to add bottle filling stations instead of 25 year old fountains.

If you injure yourself they won’t cancel the membership early, even if your doctor sends them a letter.

Rip off, child care is a joke, they have 2 teenagers on their phones who call you whenever your kid needs anything.

Bad and misguided customer service. The gym isn’t worth the contract lock and price when so many other options are out there.
