We joined the gym at the end of the summer. I was really happy to see all of the amenities like the Sauna, pool and steam room. The gym is also great. There are many work out areas and it's family friendly.
We started having a "spa" day once a week where we use the sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and pools to relax. This is where I'm seeing issues. The second time I tried to use the jacuzzi, it was out of order for about a month. Just know that many people using the Sauna and Steam room are fully clothed- wearing shoes. Some do yoga in the rooms. The last time we were at the gym on Sunday we got there just as it opened. The trash bin was overfilled. There were clumps of dirt on the Steam room sitting surfaces. The steam room never seems to have the Eucalyptus smell we were told about on our first tour. I am afraid to sit on any surfaces in there. The lap pool floor is really dirty. I didn't know dust bunnies could live in the water. Towel hooks are breaking off and paint is peeling. Overall, it seems without much effort this area could be spruced up a bit. And maybe a no shoes in Sauna or Spa policy could help too.
Another issue is the hydrobed massage machine seems to always break in the middle of a session, if it works at all. We tried restarting it multiple times and gave up. When we reported it to the gentleman at reception he said "just restart it". Wow! Thanks bud. Never would have thought of that.
I went to that same gentleman a few weeks later to figure out how to put one of our members on HOLD. The app would not let me. So he got up from looking at his phone and went to a workstation computer. Then he asked to look at the app on my phone. Finally he concluded we could only CANCEL the whole families membership. WHAT?!? Does the owner concur? I just felt he really preferred looking at his phone rather than ever helping us out.
I'm trying to find a new place for our family because of the growing disappointment here. But at the moment it's better than a sharp stick in the eye. I wanted to send this information to the gym directly before airing out the dirty laundry, but there is no contact info except for a phone number.

I was just recovering from a dislocated shoulder with a rotator cuff and partial bicep tear, when I started taking Dance group fitness classes (aka Shine Dance Fitness) on Monday and Thursday mornings with Melissa Webb. Needless to say, that my range of motion and strength in that arm were limited. With these limitations as well as participating in a type of class that was new to me, I clearly entered the room a bit depressed and insecure. Melissa however, was very welcoming and friendly. She is such a ball of energy and bundle of joy, who will lift your spirits and make you smile in no time. Not only that, but she is also an EXCELLENT coach. Her cueing in class is on time and she gives options for all kind of fitness levels. I have taken various group fitness classes with different instructors; many can “give” a class, but Melissa is one of the few that can actually coach !!!
Her passion for teaching shines through and she inspires her students to be the best version of themselves. Like she would say: “There are no mistakes, only solos” 🥰💃
She is the reason I drive from Knoxville to Maryville every week. I have been a member at National Fitness for over 20 years. I travel and frequent different club locations, as I am the kind of person who picks the coach before the class.
Thank you Melissa Webb for your constant devotion and passion. I am at the beginning of a much healthier version of myself, physically, mentally and emotionally.

If I could give zero stars, I would. While this is probably one of the most halfway decent gyms that Maryville has to offer definitely not worth the $70 membership fee. I raised concerns with the club manager, Elijah, over two months ago, and nothing has improved.

The facility is in very poor condition:
• Windows look like they haven’t been cleaned in months, maybe years
• Dirty carpets and worn-down floors
• Benches with tears and outdated, dirty machines
• TVs are fuzzy or showing error messages
• Music is uninspiring and does nothing to motivate a workout
• Staff often sit on the front counters, which comes across as unprofessional
No sense of urgency from cleaning staff they walk around with little dusters acting like they’re doing something.

On top of that, weights and dumbbells are constantly left scattered around. Some areas have numbered slots, but many do not, and there’s no enforcement from staff to maintain order.

This gym badly needs a refresh, better upkeep, and a higher level of professionalism. At this price point, members deserve far better.

It’s the best option in Maryville if you are looking for a gym with a pool. It is overpriced, the weekend hours need to be fixed. Sundays are my most free day to get in a full work out. Only problem is I got six hours in between lunch and dinner to do it. If you’re going to charge premium prices you need to have better hours on the weekend. Fix this and my opinion would change dramatically.

Worst experience by far was not bad at first however i simply wanted to upgrade my plan to essentially get the “buddy” pass well i was told that it would be only $54 a month which is still pricey for a subpar gym with a staff that doesn't know whats going on half the time very unorganized. Well apparently i was informed wrong not only did i pay $21 to upgrade my a week ago but i also paid another $68 today. Well looks like i can make a case and the manager Elijah says that they whoever they are wont do anything about it because apparently he cannot all good just need to inform everyone to go to another gym dont waste your time or your money and gains at this place.

I have been coming to here for years since it's the only gym in town with a decent variety of equipment. Multiple squat racks, dumbbells that go up to 120 lbs, and a few unique strength machines. There are many issues too. I have seen multiple cables snap, and handles on machines fall off mid-workout due to improper maintenance upkeep, which is VERY dangerous, one of these days that will turn into a major lawsuit. The gym bathrooms are also consistently gross. As others have said it's far too expensive for what it is. It is a good sized, and decently maintained gym for this area, but it is not without its flaws.

My parents and I have shown up 5 times to " sign up" for membership and noone is ever there to sign us up. Today we came with everything all ready to go and sign up and paid for a membership via one pass and was told " manager is the only one who can do this we werent shown how to sign people up for one pass but he will be in at 10" we waited from 10:30am to 11:15am and he never showed up... the front desks said they called manager and he never responded. I am furious that we are paying for a membership noone can use because manager isn't in office and is the only one capable to sign people up. Not only that, but we left our number for him to call us when he would be able to come in and its 6:30pm and he never called. Horrible customer service and a taste of this gym.

I have brought up the lack of cleanliness several times and nothing is done. The gym is filthy. Today 6/5 is (at least) the fourth day that there is blood on one of the restroom/changing room walls. They should be cleaned daily and it appears to maybe be weekly.

Regarding the response from the owner; I have reached out directly and in person and nothing gets done. All I am told is that there is not enough money in the budget for it to be cleaned regularly.

Update 8/4/25; Once again nobody showed up to open the gym. So many people were inconvenienced and nobody one even cares!

It’s 6:02AM 8/4/25. There’s a half full parking lot full of cars and 15 people waiting in front of a locked fitness center with no lights on. Your website advertises a 5:00AM open time for, ostensibly, customers like me who can only work out in the early morning hours before work. Nearly $100 a month for my family and I to work out here. This needs to be addressed immediately.

Two years ago, I developed a rare, serious illness —Guillain-Barre syndrome—from which I didn’t know if I would fully recover. Because I have no family, the entirety of National Fitness Center— staff, management, and members—commandeered my recovery masterfully. I had over 50 visitors from NFC at the hospital and at my home. An NFC Meal Train was organized to provide me with delicious meals every day for two weeks. Members and staff gave me rides to various appointments. The NFC sign in the parking lot announced to passersby: “Pray for Bookie.”

After only two months, I began to recover and resumed my activities at NFC. My physical therapists were amazed at my abilities. In fact, my neurologist attributed my progress to the fact that I was in excellent physical shape when I became ill. He said, “Your muscles just knew what to do!”

I take 12-15 group fitness classes per week, and my muscles are still “learning.” Both cognitive and physical activities need to be lifelong pursuits. To continue the analogy, National Fitness Center is a wonderful classroom. By the way, I am 79 years old.

While waiting in the lobby to redeem a day pass, a family attempting to bring their child to swim with her grandparents was told they needed to purchase three $20 day passes, despite both parents being members. Ruth, the attendant at the front desk, responded very curtly and cited policy without any attempt at basic understanding.

After the family left, she commented to me, “Sometimes you can just tell someone’s energy is horrible. I’m glad I don’t have to carry that.” Which is a bizarre thing to say about members, to a random person you’ve just met.

The mother returned and spoke with John, another attendant, who at first attempted to guilt trip her, saying, “He could be fired for making any exception,” only to 10 minutes later, (after threat of cancellation) acquiesce to what was obviously a fairly minor request.

After the entirely unnecessary dramatics, and about 40 minutes of waiting, I was able to purchase a day pass and use some two decade old Life Fitness machines. 🙂

I have been meaning to write this review for a couple of months now, and I just cannot say enough positive things about this gym. I use about every aspect of this gym from child care to every type of exercise equipment and cardio to the saunas. My designated time to workout is in the mornings, and the childcare staff welcome my baby boy with enthusiasm and care, getting to know his own unique personality. The front desk staff are so polite and present given the multitask position they are in. In particular, John, would rush to the front door and open it for me when I used to carry my baby in his car seat. Also, Finley is exceptionally attentive to the cleanliness of the entire front entrance and delightfully quick to help me if I ever approach the front desk to tan, get a drink, or ask a question. She’s very approachable and has a servant’s heart from what I can tell. When it comes to the staff, they have all been exceptionally professional and kind too, willing to step in and help when there is a need. Patrick, the manager, gives off the kind of local gym friendliness that makes me feel like this gym is truly my home gym. He’s respectable and his staff seem to follow suit. They all just seem happy to be there, which makes me feel excited to come back. They are empowering to be around. I could brag about more individuals, but I also want to say that when it comes to working out, this gym just about has it all, and there’s always a piece of equipment available to meet my strength training needs. It just gets better from my experience. I can truly get my job done in the short amount of time I usually have, and the people there are truly there to take care of themselves and pursue fitness goals, from individuals to clients with the trainers. The mindset is collectively towards becoming better, healthier, stronger people. It’s a focused and healthy environment for anyone—family oriented but also equipped for people who like to get in hard core lifts. The gym is equipped. I have been all over the region to just about every gym over the past ten years plus, and none of them are going to be perfect. This one is as best as they come all around. I thought I would be deterred from the coed saunas, but I’ve never had an issue. It’s quite comfortable for me to share that space, and the saunas are kept clean, which I greatly appreciate. Having the private ladies gym and entrances to the locker room helps, as well as the private lounge to nurse my son or just relax and regroup after my lift. I am sure I could say more positive things, but you should come check it out yourself and see how it grows on you if you do not immediately love it. I can just say that after my third child, I am finding my best mental and physical strength at this gym, and I feel like the staff here are on my team and support me the best they can. Thanks to all!!

Looks like they don't pay their employees enough. Frequent turnovers, unclean lockers etc. A gym that's supposed to open doors at 5 am but just like this morning stays frequently closed because someone didn't wake up on time or quit. There was over 30 people standing in front of locked doors today. You should give people refunds every time you can't follow through on your commitments to your clients! What a shame.

This is the best gym I have ever experienced in my life. When checking out the gym, there was absolutely no pressure to join. The manager took me through the gym, and I couldn't believe all that was offered for all ages. I'm 70 and at my age I would rather not be in front of a lot of people. Well, low and behold, they have e a gym just for women! Can I say Hallelujah! I love it! I joined mainly for the lap pool, and to my surprise, there's always lanes open just for that! Plus, I asked when the small pool was opened for me to bring my grandkids, and I was told all the time. They have every kind of class your heart desire and get this. They have a theater with exercise equipment. So you're working out and watching a movie! 😅
I feel you really get a lot for a very reasonable monthly price.
If you want to get in shape and have fun doing it, check them out!

We signed up because it was close and the pool. With my health I need to swim. First month I couldn’t go swimming because the heater broke and it was freezing. As a new member they didn’t even offer a discount. We brought it up to them and they didn’t care. When we finally went back a few months later the hot tub was down. Can’t wait until the contract is up. Not worth the money. Not very clean. Not very friendly. I wouldn’t recommend. To me it’s money wasted. I even looked into evening aqua swim and they only have one in morning. Very disappointing. The guy behind the counter heard me and said nothing when I was looking at classes and made a comment. I would’ve turned around and asked what we could do to make it better. Over all not pleased and stuck in a contract.

I am very disappointed that no one seems to monitor that guests wipe down the equipment. I’ve noticed this many times during my visits. On Thursday I specifically stopped and watched people and I only saw 1 person wipe down the equipment. Guests in sweaty t shirts and tanks tops leaving the machines without wiping them down. I spoke to the assistant manager and asked him to just stop and observe. I’m assuming he made a mental note because he walked away. When I saw him walk back through, he headed directly to the front desk area. Even the personal trainers do not have guest they are working with wipe the equipment down.

Stopped by to get a price on membership and see what the gym looked like because reviews online were not great and now under new management was considering joining with my husband. They asked you to fill out all kinds of personal information date of birth take a picture of yourself give them your driver's license etc etc. Explain to the person at the counter that just wanted a price on monthly membership or other options on prices and did not need to speak with anyone and was a little uncomfortable giving out all of this personal information just to get a price. Person at front desk said I DONT LIKE YOU BEING OVER TALKING ME!. It is then with a distasteful attitude my husband and I left the gym. If this is how you treat new people coming in the door you can keep your memberships. No wonder why this gym is having such a hard time. I am a retired business owner here in Maryville. The front desk person is the first person you are in contact with when entering the door. She was extremely displeased with our questions about having to give such private personal information just to get price and details. I am currently attending another program in Maryville for my daily exercise and was really looking forward to seeing what their classes had to offer. As a business owner myself, I know first impressions are everything! That being said, you should not allow an employee, who is not a peoples person, to deal with possible new customers.

5-Star Review for National Fitness Center – Maryville, TN

My family and I recently relocated from Florida to the beautiful state of Tennessee. Back in Florida, it was tough to find top-notch gyms unless you were in Miami or part of a wealthy community. We honestly thought we’d have to settle for Planet Fitness here as well. However, after a quick search for the best gyms in Maryville, National Fitness Center caught our eye—and we are so glad it did!

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by incredibly friendly and welcoming staff. The facility is stunning—clean, modern, and sophisticated. We asked for a tour, and to our surprise, this gym has everything you could possibly want!

As a family with children, the childcare options were what truly sealed the deal for us. But the surprises didn’t stop there—there’s even a movie theater for cardio sessions, a steam room, and a sauna, all of which we loved at LA Fitness back in Miami.

A special shoutout goes to Patrick, the head manager. He is not only knowledgeable about every aspect of the facility but also genuinely takes the time to get to know each member. If any issues arise, Patrick ensures they are handled immediately and professionally.

What we appreciate most is how thoughtfully the gym is structured. The equipment is perfectly organized, so you don’t have to wander around looking for machines—it all just makes sense. The pool is always spotless, and even the bathrooms are meticulously maintained.

We absolutely love the crew and the overall atmosphere at National Fitness Center. Patrick, thank you for making this place feel like home for our family. We couldn’t have asked for a better gym experience.

I’m a senior citizen who was tricked into signing a 3 year contract. The man who coaxed me to “sign here”, told me it was a 12 month contract and would be month to month after that. 2 years into my membership, I can’t afford the cost and reached out to cancel. The current administrator said I would have to pay nearly $500 to get out of the contract or I could drop my husband’s membership but could not cancel!
My daughter-in-law signed with the same man at a different time and was also told it was a 12 month contract as well. He hooked her into a 5 year contract and she can’t cancel.
Neither of us received copies of the contract and were lied to about what it cost and what we were signing!
I plan to take action against these criminals! Beware!

Update on review: They only pretend in this review to care. NFC is an unethical company! Do not sign anything with them! Supposedly you don’t have to sign a contract. It’s a lie!

Well, I’m definitely disappointed with this gym. It’s pretty much impossible to cancel your gym membership even if it’s month to month. Went into the gym to cancel and was told they can’t do that there and was given an email address and a phone number with the automatic message so pretty much you can’t talk to a real person. Oh I also got double charged this month on my account. I definitely don’t recommend this gym.

This place has a little of everything! Pool, turf field, steam room, basketball court, and more! Super friendly staff with knowledgeable trainers that could really set up your workout journey for success. Regardless of experience this place has something for everyone, and if you're debating on hitting that new years resolution hard there's no better place than the NFC.

Thought I signed up for a 1 year membership, they rush you through with the contract on a computer to signed. Don’t sign it! I got suckered into a 3 year contract. My last payment was Oct 16, 2024. I have a email confirmation confirming I am done. Will see if they try to take out another payment next month with their sketchy legal language. They could be so much more successful if they were not so sketchy. Bad, bad people. Hope they read this. Go to any other gym 👍

I have been a member here for 3 years now and I have to say Patrick is the BEST thing to ever happen to this gym. Before him everything stayed broken and ripped. The place was dirty. But ever since Patrick arrived he has gone above and beyond to make sure equipment is replaced, fixed, or upholstered. This place has done a complete 180 in the last few months. I’m excited for the new equipment we are getting as well. I highly recommend.

10/10 WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS NFC LOCATION!

I had been a member of this NFC location for almost 4 years until today. After multiple years of broken equipment, dirty facility, problematic and exceptionally rude management I cancelled my membership. There's a recommendation and suggestion box that I'm sure gets emptied into the trash when it gets too full.

Hazardous childcare area:
Insufficient staff for the volume of children, combined with a high turn over rate of that staff is more than concerning. I came in on a Saturday (3 months ago) and there were 45 children and two young boys "watching" everyone. I voiced my opinion until there were enough adult employees to oversee childcare. There is a diaper changing station inches away from the area they dry the sanitized toys.

Management will absolutely give the you runaround as to why equipment is broken for months at a time and make up reasons they can't or won't make changes for cleanliness, safety or overall customer satisfaction.

Best alternatives:
Planet fitness (basically $10)
Olympic Gym
Armor Gym

If you enjoy broken equipment, nasty bathrooms and dirty showers you will love this place. I am usually not a complainer but I got sucked into a 4 year contract with no way cancelling this membership. This place is gross. Staff couldn't care less and simply responds with: "yeah we know machines are broken and our cleaning crew sucks." Super annoyed with this place. Enjoy the pictures I just took from the inside!

We stopped in for a day pass to try out the gym to establiash one for our second home locally due to work, and my husband and I went in as they advertise free trial, and they said no and we had to pay $40 for us to just workout 1 hour. No free trial as stated even when we offered our local address for now.
Besides that the gym locally does not look like the one online at all! Better customer service guys, will help you grow better with a higher rating reviews than in the 3's. Management is not very good here. The gym across the street welcomed us with open arms
And a free week, so that's were we will be members!

Do not recommend the gym. The contracts are awful. I negotiated a 1 year contract and it is nearly impossible to get out of without heavy cancelation fees. The gym is just gross. Especially the pool. Tons of broken equipment. The local staff just refers to corporate and they can't do anything. The manager said she is unable to hire more people to clean and maintain the place. It is just not worth the trouble.

It used to be great, but now it's under new management, everything is always broken. Aquatics center was broken for over a month, sauna is broken, some of the cardio machines are broken.

The place could definitely be cleaner as well.

There's no benefit to paying this place 60/month + bi annual maintenance fees if you lack access to a pool, sauna, and working equipment. Im thinking about switching to planet fitness and saving myself 50 bucks a month.

On top of all this they're still raising prices.

I've been a member here for about six months. To be honest, when I first joined, I wasn't exactly blown away. I mainly signed up for the sauna – you could say I was here for the steam, not the scene. The gym itself was just okay, but the sauna was my main draw. I do enjoy working out, and they have good equipment, but it wasn’t well maintained back then.

It seems like upper management finally caught on, though. Recently, they brought in a new General Manager, Patrick, and wow, what a difference! Patrick has really turned this place around. The equipment is now being well-maintained and cleaned, the steam room is getting a much-needed overhaul, the dry sauna is regularly cleaned, and even the bathrooms are sparkling. The staff has become much more welcoming too.

I hope upper management recognizes the fantastic job being done here. It's not just me – I've heard other members praising the improvements too. So, kudos to the team, and thank you for finally giving us a gym that’s as awesome as we hoped! 💪

P.S. Matt who is a personal trainer for this facility does an awesome job as well. Very happy with the information he is able to provide and is extremely helpful when taking his class.

Ok so I have many many issues with the fact the sauna is always broken. First it’s down for weeks , now the dehumidifier in the pool room is broken so it’s a steam room. Not cool. Then I got a “ session with a personal trainer “ that everyone gets complimentary for enrolling. Basically, they just fat shamed me for 20 min. I ran out in tears. The front staff is rude because they mostly don’t acknowledge me when walking in. Heaven forbid I need help and the 4 women need to stop talking and actually do their job. Also while waiting in line I’ve had several people just cut right in front of me. So rude and so low class. I wish I could terminate my 3 year contract. Unfortunately that’s the lowest amount of time they had. I will say at first I liked the gym. However, it wasn’t long until I started to dislike them.

***LET THE BUYER BEWARE***

This is not a gym. This is a loan company disguised as a gym.

Their membership contracts are predatory and impossible to escape. If you decide to join this gym, Make sure you calculate how much the total amortization will be over the course of your membership contract because I promise you they will try to make you pay every single penny of it.

It may help you imagine the membership contract like an extremely long term lease where you’re 100% sure the landlord will try to keep your deposit and sue you in small claims court if you ever break it.

I’ve heard the exact same story from every person I’ve ever known who worked-out there: They started a membership when they were doing well. Eventually, due to some change in circumstances they became unable to afford the ridiculous membership fees so they try to cancel the membership, then National Fitness attempts to sue for fulfillment of their THREE TO FIVE YEAR contract….dont do it man…. just join the YMCA.

My husband and I have been members at the gym for some time and just signed up for stretch sessions with Joanna and Cash. We are extremely impressed with both of the them and although we are only several sessions in, we have noticed a huge difference in the way we feel. They both take considerable time and effort with us and specifically target our problem areas. They are FANTASTIC and truly care about their clients. We even got sent home with stretches and exercises to do on our own. They make it a point to stop and check on us when they see us working out and you can tell they genuinely care about our progress and how we feel. If you want to try them out, be sure to sign up for a free stretch session with Cash and I guarantee you will sign up for more!

FAR BETTER THAN ANY MASSAGE FROM A CMT I HAVE EVER RECEIVED! I am 4 session in and that has not changed. Joanna and Cash listened closely to the problems I was experiencing. After that, they performed multiple stretching exercises that immediately gave me relief from the pain I was experiencing. Their knowledge of their skill is second to none. I was even sent home with a stretch program to do in between sessions to make better use of the next appointment. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

It's not a bad gym. Its got a good variety of classes and what not. I would rate it lower if it wasn't for the pool; olympic size pools are hard to find. This would be a fantastic gym... If it were 1998. There's more benches than squat racks and all the coolest stuff is locked up in the personal trainer room.

On the way out, there’s a whole rack of junk food on the counter, including 460-calorie muffins and 500-calorie cookies. It would take a 5k to burn that off. Guess that’s how you keep people coming back.

2024 Update - there was a big remodel, and now there are way more weights, which is cool. Still 3 stars.

Terrible place to get involved with. I had joined with an 18 month contract and then added my wife to my membership roughly 6 months in. We ended up moving and I went back to the location to let them know I need to make sure it doesn't renew my membership as there was only 2 months left of the original 18 month contract. They informed me then that When I added my wife to my membership it not only signed me up for an entire new contract, but the contract that I was on was 36 months long instead. The person who added my wife to the membership never told us any of this and only told us that we needed to sign to add her and nothing else.

They end up having signatures on the contract to cover themselves but the only way people hear or see any information on the contract before signing is whatever the worker decides to provide. They are reading off of a computer facing away form you and have an electronic signer to add your name to a document after lying about the terms and conditions that you are agreeing to.

The cleanliness of this place is absolutely atrocious. Does management need to get their eyes checked? I mean come on really. Bathrooms are absolutely disgusting. Mildew all over the shower walls and shower curtains. Floors are absolutely disgusting, dust balls, garbage and hair all over the floor and under cabinets and under lockers. Nothing is ever wiped down. It is like the ABCs of running an establishment. Cleanliness is everything. People are literally taking clothes off to take a shower and sit down around and everything is disgusting. I know we're in Tennessee but this is not a barn. Windows and glass don't get cleaned, and if you look on and around all equipment there is like 20 years worth of dust and grime. The basketball courts are slippery and take a look at the window sills. Equipment is garbage, cracked, beat up and neglect.

The sauna has been down for just about 3 weeks now and it seems like there is no urgency in this place. But they are very urgent to make sure that all debit cards are withdrawn on time. If you run an establishment like this you were going to run it into the ground. Actually you already did. So now the only way is up. Take the feedback that I see in this Google business page and make a change. I am not the only one that is mentioned about the sauna and cleanliness of this place.

Your steam sauna smells like mildew and mold. There's a crack tile. It's disgusting. I believe you got the point. Maybe you don't.

And if you are a child of God and you are managing this establishment you are not doing his work. God would not allow his people to have to deal with these conditions being under contract and not being able to get out. Step back and take a look at who you're choosing to be because it is not a person of God. Urgency is important. Hopefully this reaches the right people and things start to change around there. You are taking a lot of people's money and doing a very bad job.

And as a note I am a real person this is my review name I am a member of this gym. But as soon as my contract is up if things don't change I will be finding a new gym. They are popping up by the way. This place isn't as small as it used to be so you don't got people by the .........

This place is really annoying, they should change the rule and let family of blood go in with their little brother or sister at the range of 13+. Get your rules fixed because that was dumb.

I came to national fitness and signed an 18 month contract. I chose the shortest contract term because I'm very busy and I don't go to the gym often. Then I came back and added my wife to the contract so she could come with me when she had time. We only went a few times in the first fews months and 1 year later I didn't come back. After my contract expired and the money in my bank account was still withdrawn every month. I went to the national fitness to prove the contract had expired and asked them to stop taking money from my bank . After checking, they informed me that the new contract had been renewed for another 36 months. I was really shocked. The new contract was re-signed without my knowledge. Why can two contracts exist at the same time? If they want to sign a new contract, they must notify the cancellation of the current contract . I asked to see the general manager. they said he wasn't here. I asked for an appointment to see the manager and they said they didn't know his schedule so they couldn’t make an appointment.I asked to know who helped me sign the new contract and they said they didn't know. I want to know the name of the person who used my signature without my consent . The man named Johnson claimed to be the manager . He didn't answer any of my questions . He threw a contract printed out from the computer on the table and said that this is what he has, the rest he doesn't care about. I asked why there were 2 contracts at the same time and he said he didn't know .I asked him again: If you don't know, why don't you find out the reason why you say you don't care?. and he walked away A big company but acting in an unruly. and then I spoke to the general manager and spoke to the cooperatives. They told me that when they receive the contract in my hand that has expired, they will notify national fitness to cancel my name in the system. and until today I still receive a bill from them asking for payment. I don't know what to say to these scammers

1/28/24- I was in spin class on Friday, 3 bikes are completely broken. 2 bikes have been removed. 4 bikes no one likes because they are so old and don't work properly. 5 people came in and walked out because the remaining bikes were all in use.
This is unacceptable.
Also no water bottle fillers. The water fountains do not work well for water bottles....This is a gym. I brought this up over the last year and upper mgt never responds to voicemails or emails. Ridiculous.
The 5 star ratings are probably written by corporate.

, I go to the gym 4 times a week.
The facility struggles with keeping locker rooms and showers clean.
The spin bikes are 20 years old, half of them work. No plans to upgrade. The cardio equipment is old and in need of constant repair.
The whirlpool is sporadically out of service.
They don't have water bottle fillers, which makes no sense it is a gym. When asked why the upper mgt literally laughed it off as being too expensive.....really!!!!
The saving grace is the fitness class instructors. They are great!

HThe facilities were okay however the staff was very unhelpful, me and my husband were visiting family and wanted a pass that allowed us to work out for a few days while in town. The gentleman at the front desk informed us they didn't have any option for us, even after we mentioned all our family are members of the gym, the staff said they couldn't give us a complimentary pass or short time pass because we were not going to join the gym and they only offered those to serious customers. The manager eventually came out and let us have a one day pass and took our driver license for "insurance". We left on a rush when we were done, no other gyms take driver licenses so we didn't notice we didn't have our DLs until the afternoon and when we called no one answered. Next day we go to pick them up and the staff said "are you sure you left them here?" Without looking. Then they briefly looked at one box FULL of driver licenses which means they do this all the time and don't bother to call people even though they had our contact info. My husband had to stand his ground of not leaving without our DLs and they reluctantly looked in multiple places until they found ours about 10 min later. Surely we are very dissatisfied at the attitude the staff had and how we were not given any pass options considering my husband is in the military stationed elsewhere so we could not get a yearly membership in Maryville. Everyone in Maryville has been so friendly to us except for this gym.

Clean, plenty of equipment to use, sauna as well. They have tons of treadmills as well for my warm up run. The kids club hours make it nearly impossible for me to go workout at the gym and not at home most of the week. Being close for 4 hours mid day is a huge problem with my schedule. I usually can go between those hours and I have my kids. The closing staff is always very rude. I am well aware when you close. You do not have to tell me, you close in such and such with an attitude. It's been multiple front desk staff that close. Also god forbid you say bye on my way out. Customers shouldn't have to initiate that. I worked at a nationally recognized gym and I know all then ins and outs. This attitude should be ousted. This location on multiple occasions, closed hours earlier than posted without signage posted on why? You call and nothing is said on their number either. I pay for a membership because of what you offer and yet you don't even offer the times you say you do. I can't wait to be done with my membership and move on to a better gym. All the problems and for the high end price monthly. Go elsewhere trust me, this place is NOT worth the money.

Mandatory 36 month agreement, full payout over cancellation, plus $200 fee. The claim that they have 12 month or month to month contracts was refuted during the sales meeting. Kory, who signed me up, did everything to avoid plainly stating that cancelation = full contract payout...even when I sent him to fetch his supervisor. All personal trainers have 18 month minimum contracts (2x weekly costs $6500). If you're going to be a constant at the gym and money is no object, take the plunge. BUYER BEWARE.

P.S. No doubt, a canned response amounting to "We tell everyone about their contract options and terms" is forthcoming. No...you don't. And from the other one star ratings...its clear that you don't. Your business model depends on not sharing that information forthrightly.

Signed a contract for a family membership. Was told by the staff on my next 2 visits that they had made errors in pricing and I needed to sign new contracts reflecting a new price. I signed the new contract the first time but the second time I felt this was ridiculous. They claimed the way I signed my name was too messy and not valid so they were going to cancel the membership.

When I escalated to customer service, I was told that management wouldn't care about my complaints. When I spoke to management, it was acknowledged that they had screwed up and that asking me to sign new contracts with language that was threatening (i.e. "We wont honor the contract and allow you to be a member if you don't sign the new contract at higher price) was inappropriate however there was nothing that could be done to remedy the situation on their end.

After several phone calls and being treated rudely, I was just glad to get my money refunded and contract cancelled. Pretty ridiculous- I was going to pay thousands for a family contract and they were willing to cancel it over a $15 a month difference that was due to their error.

The irony is comical of posting signs about the maintenance fees being charged at the same time half of the equipment is lacking maintenance or completely out of service. The attached is a current picture of half of the treadmills in the cardo theater. 6 treadmills breaking didn't happen overnight. Ownership was notified starting in January and after 7 months, they haven't made it a priority to rectify. It simply boils down to pitiful management and ownership. Very impressed with what the new stretch & mobility sessions provide. I walked out actually feeling taller, and definitely better. Joanna is very knowledgeable. I also kind of felt smarter. Great session and highly recommended trying a free session. Joanna, like all class leaders and trainers I have met are the strength of NFC. Equipment breaks down, they don't.

Specifically for the Maryville location. I have a wedding in Maryville so i came to ask if I could do a 1 time workout here. (My home Gym is the one in Tazewell). They refused and wanted to charge $20 for a workout. Insane the level of service. Way to go national fitness

An amazing gym with the freindliest associates, unfortunately due to the rather large price tag I won't be coming back for sometime.

When my mother and I signed up we were told my daughter could come with either but only I could sign her into daycare. However one day my mom took my daughter to swim and they refused her entry. They stated that she could not be in the building alone with her. This is extremely frustrating as we clearly asked about this sanero before signing up. Won't be resigning and feel like we were lied to. They now have flagged my mom everyte she comes in and it's down right unprofessional.

Just to add we were signed up by the general manager who told us it would be fine.

I had the best experience, today! I have tried several gyms before this and had terrible experiences. They weren’t pushy, rude, or demeaning to me at all. The lady that signed me up, Cassidy I believe, she was honest, very reasonable with me, and super nice! I would easily recommend asking for her to sign up with!

Nice accommodations and super nice crew. Cassidy was super helpful and informative and made the process super easy. Definitely check her out if you’re looking at getting a membership!

Avoid this place if you can! You’ll be forced to stay even after the contract has ended! They don’t encourage you to read the terms and condition at all, instead, we had to request them to send it to our email. To cancel it at the end of your contract (we signed for 1.5 year), you must send them a signed certified mail two months beforehand, which is ridiculous, otherwise, they’ll drain your pocket!

If you want to join a health club that wouldn’t pass a health inspection, this place is for you!

Place is absolutely disgusting. I’ve been a member for 2 months and in those 2 months the sauna and steam room have been cleaned 0 times. How do I know? Because the same disgusting acrylic fingernail has been in the sauna for over a month.

Their “theater” cardio room is the second most disgusting right behind the sauna and steam room. While working out, I have seen 3 out of over 100 people clean off their equipment when they finish. This includes NFC’s “personal trainers” that work out there too! Are you kidding me? How hard is it to clean the equipment you just finished using. Walked into the theater yesterday and looked like someone threw up their pre-workout into the cup holder and left it.

Why am I still a member? Because they lock you into a 3 year contract and won’t let you cancel unless you prove you move outside of their radius.

DO NOT JOIN THIS GYM FOR YOUR NEW YEARS RESOLUTION. YOU WILL BE SEVERELY DISAPPOINTED AND PROBABLY CATCH A DISEASE!

Join at your own risk. Their contract is very one sided. They make it difficult to quit and when you are finally able to they still charge you for a month.

DO NOT SIGN UP FOR THIS GYM! I broke my ankle and have a doctor's note stating I can NOT be on my foot! They will not cancel my membership! My personal trainer also is never available anymore when I need and is leaving the company and they will not even cancel that side of the contract! Mind you, when i signed up they did NOT tell me there was any sort of contract! I am being charged $210 per month for NOTHING! I reached out for help and they stated they could not even freeze my payments for a while to help out due to me being under contract! This company is an absolute joke and will drain your pockets!

The gym is great but the business practices are extreme. No way out of a contact of 3 years with paying off the entire contact. No cancellation fee, just pay off the entire conttact owed, and then they will do anything to make sure you sign up for something like a family membership for an additional person because it resets the timer! Then if you move you have to joint another gym if you can find over that is part of their network or pay almost $200 just to bed allowed to cancel them membership IF they don't make you join another gym. They say it's because they are a lifestyle. Well I am allowed to change my lifestyle normally without a huge fee.

I have been a member since February. I have to say they are always amazing. Staff and child care workers are so kind and helpful. Yoga instructor is amazing. It is worth every penny!!! If you read everything on the paper work there is no need for an attorney. Other people's reviews make it seem like they are sketchy. But I read my entire contract and understood all of it. If u read the contract you will have no issues understanding what you are getting. It is worth it!! Classes- worth it! Child care- worth it! Staff- worth it!
