I’ve been a member at OTF East Memphis for about a year and I can’t say enough good things. The coaches and staff are welcoming and most of the coaches are great at offering corrections or modifications when needed. There are members across all ages and fitness levels and newcomers are always welcomed. OTF strikes a perfect balance between personal focus and community support with opportunities to push yourself with challenges and benchmarks. The studio is clean, the equipment is in good shape, and the energy is always positive. My first few classes felt like sensory overload and yours probably will too, but don’t let that dissuade you—the lingo and cues quickly clicked for me and now going to classes has become a highlight of my week.

Orange Theory has been life changing for me. Starting with the kind and genuine community. I have tried many group fitness facilities and this one has the most helpful and sweetest community. Great instructors but poor management. I have been a member at this orange theory location for 9 years. In September I had an issue booking classes on the app. When I would go to book a class it said “MBO client does not exist.” I went in person and discussed this issue with the front desk. The front desk said it appeared that I was not a member in the system. The girl at the front desk that I spoke to wrote my name and number on a sticky note and told me she would pass the issue along to management so it could be fixed. A couple weeks went by (by this point it’s the end of October) and I am still unable to book classes in the app. I again go to the studio to discuss with the front desk. The girl I spoke to said it appeared that I was not a member and said she would pass this onto her manager for review. The manager, Goldie, called me the next day and told me to call corporate myself to resolve the issues as it would be “easier” to do it this way vs her calling corporate to get the issue resolved for me. When I contacted corporate I learned that my email was correct on the app but my email had been changed on the studio’s side to an email that is not my email (I’m assuming they accidentally modified the email on my account instead of another member’s account). This is why my app was not letting me book classes. Corporate stated the system had a bug and they were unsure of when it would be fixed, meaning I was still
Unable to book classes on the app. I asked about getting a refund for September and October due to not being able to book classes. Goldie, the east Memphis manager, stated she could not refund me because the issue was not brought to her attention until October, I reiterated that I discussed the issue with the front desk in September and the girl at the desk wrote my name on a sticky note, which she told me she would pass onto the manager so the issue could be fixed. Goldie stated that writing on sticky notes is not the proper procedure for reporting an issue (remember this is what the front desk girl did) and she could not refund me. During this conversation she was rude and condescending and implied that I was lying about discussing this issue with the front desk in September. Additionally, I requested that my membership be canceled on 10/23 and she stated she was still going to bill me on 11/19 because I had not cancelled within 30 days. I understand they have a policy, however, I was unable to book classes for two months even after repeatedly bringing the issue to the studio’s attention.

It is incredibly frustrating that after being a loyal member at this location for 9 YEARS that I was treated like this. The email being changed in my account was clearly a mistake on their end and Goldie refused to take accountability for that.

I love this workout and this studio specifically! I was able to go up until my 40th week of pregnancy, and felt so comfortable with the modifications that came with my pregnancy needs. So much of this is thanks to the amazing coaches there, specifically Angel and Mary Margaret! They checked on me each class and gave me my own modifications and workouts to do on the floor. This staff really gets to know their members and as a result, I felt confident to continue going during a season of life where working out doesn’t look like what it used to. Couldn’t recommend the OTF workout or this studio more. Anyone can apply the workout to their fitness level and ultimately leave each class feeling better than they did when they showed up!

I had an excellent FIRST TIME experience here! I took the Orange 3G class with Angel at the East Memphis location and it was perfect! I was so surprised I could handle 90% of the activities. It was fast-paced but I caught on, plus, I was still able to ask questions so that I didn’t feel completely out of the loop. If you’re on the fence, do it anyway and bring friends!

Visiting from the Reston, VA location — which is my new home studio.

Came here on Christmas Eve. Last visited: Dec’ 23.

Coach was MM. It was a fun x-mas themed workout. Coach was dressed as Santa.

Workout template was an x-mas theme, with gifts on the big screen, being unwrapped in real time. The surprises were numbers, something to look forward to, or to dread. They represent number of reps, or inclines in the case of treadmill section.

This was hard workout with inclines and reps in double digits, but also force me to push myself. It help me to realize that I can achieve (and sustain) a pace in double digits with 8% incline — probably my limit for now, but great to know that it is possible. Solid but tiring work out.

How I would rate coach? About average, didn’t talk to me in particular or correct my form on the floor work outs, but seemed to be interacting with others at times. I’ll give it a pass.

Front desk, were very friendly to me, and had form for new studio visit ready for me when I arrived in morning. Overall pretty jovial and nice enough. Nothing else to add.

All in all, I enjoyed the work out, even with the inclines and high rep count, was physically and mentally exhausting, but I enjoyed it here at the studio in East Memphis, TN location.

Convenient times and location, in my case. I would also recommend this studio, as overall my experience was positive, even if I would say that they need more variety and enthusiasm in the coaches here. But the front desk, work out, and studio experience itself was solid.

I visited this studio from charlotte, nc. the power had gone out the day before so the microphone and music couldn’t work at the same time. the coach made the experience very enjoyable and had to coach us without music or cues at the same time but it was great! very professionally handled and a great experience as a cross regional!

I can't rate the gym itself as I did not get a chance to use the facility. Instead, what follows is my experience with the Orange Theory on Poplar in East Memphis.

Orange Theory advertises a free first workout and I signed up for thurs morning to try them out. Online it says to arrive 30 minutes early to fill out paperwork.
I arrived 25 minutes early. Paperwork was one sheet, front and back.
I got done with the first page when the receptionist asked "almost done? xx here (don't remember her name) is your coach and wants to show you the equipment before class."
I said 'just finished with the front.' Then looked at the back and it was a full page of disclaimer, in fine print. So it would take a while to read.
3 minutes later receptionist said that I really needed to meet with coach now and he complained that i was 15 minutes late this morning. He re-iterated their policy of new people arriving 30 minutes early. I showed him the paper and said "a few minutes more. a have a full page to read." he complained again. I said "maybe you want to me re-schedule?" I was being facetious. He said "yes, that's a good idea since you were so late" Honestly, I am used to gym people trying to GET business rather than DEFLECT it.
Coach lady chimed in "since you are so worried about the disclaimer maybe this isn't the gym for you." I replied that I wasn't worried about it at all; I simply have a policy of reading things before I sign them.
Receptionist guy was cheerfully looking at options for re-scheduling as I walked past him and left.

The studio manager was accomodating when I informed her that the watch orange theory lakeland gave me was not working, they would allow me to borrow their watch of no charge, until the lakeland studio "figured out" the issue.

This studio is more popular, so more folks. I like their class offering times, more options than the Lakeland one. They also have a fat to muscle ratio machine.

Docked off one star, because sometimes the equipment screen on the treadmill does not show your heart rate, etc. instead it populates into a blank screen. Hopefully all the equipment firmware is updated soon to reflect the accurate screens.

There were 3 major things that turned me off about my visit.

1. I’m an OTF member in Olive Branch which is close to home but decided to try the one here since it’s close to work. The front desk was a bit rude and was very disengaged. I’m used to OTF members greeting new members and visitors and making them feel welcomed. I didn’t feel that at all. Not from the members, the coach, or front desk. Every time I asked her a question it seemed like she was annoyed and she just kept right on doing what she was doing.

2. The coach wasn’t coaching. She provided the initial example and that was it. I had to rely on the TV screen to figure out the moves for the remaining time which is cool, but I’m used to OTF coaches walking around and correcting posture and motivating members.

3. I’m still new to the OTF life so after the workout I noticed my name wasn’t on the screen or populating my information and at that point it was too late. I should’ve went out front and spoke up once I saw it wasn’t there but I figured it at least would track in the app. This stems from point 1 where the staff was no help. She should’ve at least made sure that my band was syncing over.

4. The space is small and cramped! They even have a station in a random corner. Members have to stagger and wait until one person finishes an exercise for them to proceed. Even on the rower members have to bend their elbows and pause rowing for me to walk back to my rower. They’re wasn’t even enough storage lockers. I had to sit my stuff out front on a bench behind the receptionist desk.

Pros: the music was awesome; I love hip hop so it got me through the workouts. And I love OTF!!!! 🧡 I just will never attend this location again.

The studio is located in a safe location with ample parking. The studio itself is always clean and the equipment is kept in good working order.
The Orange Theory method of training is a HIIT workout with constant direction. You never have to worry about keeping track of what you are supposed to do or what you need to do next.

The workouts are broken down into simple to follow instructions. The movements are not complicated and there is always someone there to assist you with modification and keep you in check if you start to do the movement incorrectly. With the runs, I love that I can just focus on the next 45-90 seconds because the coach is there to guide me through pushes and all outs. I LOVE the count downs to when I can start walking again. Knowing that I only have to sprint for 45 seconds really allows me to give it my all! There is a great support system in place. Something about being in a room filled with people who are trying to push themselves helps motivate me to push a bit harder. I am by no means "in good shape" so to speak, but I was able to complete the entire workout without stopping even on my first class!! The research behind this approach to fitness really motivates me to hit my splat points goal. I love to think about how I am still burning calories up to 36 hours later. Just go for it if you are interested! You can do it!!!

It's really intense and allows you to push yourself at your own pace. Some people train all the time and others are just beginning their journey. Jesse is a super energetic and friendly instructor. He was very engaging and didn’t make me feel like i was an alien if I wasn’t sure what was happening in the class. Great workout. Motivating instructor. I hit my highest speed ever and she congratulated me along with other regulars. (She made me feel like part of the community, even though I was a visitor from out of state and only in town for a few days). As we were stretching at the end of the workout, she provided some helpful hints regarding classes in January and reminders to wash our hands after class with flu season. She was really helpful -- even gave me local food recommendations after class when I requested them. The only difference I noticed between her and instructors at other gyms is that she didn't correct form on the weight floor. Since I'm fairly new to weight training, I appreciate correction, but I didn't specifically ask for it either.

I'm a visiting member from Georgia, staying in Memphis for a few days. I wanted to check out the local OTF and get in a session. The front desk staff were very friendly and helped me sync my hrm. I wasn't impressed with the trainer. He spent more time outside the workout area and would run back in to tell us what to do. I never saw him watching anyone's form or adding any words of encouragement. The studio was also very warm!! I think I'm partial to my hometown studio, but do think there were areas of improvement for this location. Besides all of that, I still got in a great workout!!

OTF East Memphis is awesome! The classes always test me - yet they can be scaled for people of any ability level. The instructors are always helpful and motivating as is the staff at the front desk. OTF quickly became my favorite workout class. Love it!!

OTF is by far my favorite workout class. It is a 60 minute workout that incorporates everything you would want to do when you go to the gym. I thought the class was going to be intimidating since I have never been a runner, but it is far from that. They also teach modifications if you cannot do a certain exercise. There are all skill levels in each class. The trainers take the time to make sure you are doing each exercise correctly. The first class is free, and before the class the trainer takes you on a tour and explains the exercises that will be done in class.
