So frustrating to get up at 4 am only to find your gym is closed when you get there. They are short-staffed, and I don’t expect it to get much better with wages like these being offered.

Nice gym, with lots of space! However, the cleaning crew for the women's locker room does not do a nice job! When you walk in, you know that they are there cleaning, by the smell first! They can stink the whole locker room up with stale cigarette smoke in no time!! When they leave there are hair balls, in the wet mopped floor! The worst part was that my friend and I went in to shower, while they were cleaning the men's locker room. I was in the bathroom, my friend IN THE SHOWER (right inside the doors) and the cleaning guy just walks in, no announcement, just wheeled his mop bucket in, and proceeded as if there wasn't a woman showering right in front of him!

We also left a bag in the locker, and called to see if they could find it. It was there for less then a week, and they couldn't find it. They said that the cleaning crew probably took it. When their policy is to have the stuff donated, after a MONTH of being there. Our stuff wasn't even there for a full week when we called!

Last week, when checking in they informed us that they will be closing in an hour because of staffing issues. That threw a wrench in our shower and workout schedule, but we made do. While finishing up our workout on the treadmill, 13 min before closing they started turning off the t.v.'s. Seemed a little early in my opinion. About 5 min before closing we went into the locker room, to grab our stuff. All of a sudden the "lunk alarm" sounded and a worker started yelling that they were closed. Just seemed rather rough, and rude to customers.

My experience with Planet Fitness - Knoxville (9341 Kingston Pike), TN has been great from the moment I joined. The staff is always friendly and helpful, the machines for the most part are always in good working order, it is clean, and it really is a judgement free workout location.

Planet fitness is worth gym which i have ever been. Why? Because when i travel a lot their equipment inside gym are so different and when i have black card membership it so uncomfortable for me to get used to different tipe of equipment. I've been to a few different PF's around town and this one is my favorite by far. Staff is friendly/welcoming, and it's always really clean.

The men's bathroom set-up is a bit weird though because when you walk in the showers are right in front of you... and the bathrooms are to the right/lockers are to the left. Not sure why it was set up that way but it totally threw me for a loop my first time at this PF tbh.

I started my membership at a different Knoxville location, and this one became my primary one after I moved, but I soon realized it was not a good fit for me. A year later, I still decided to return and see if there had been any difference. The staff could be better trained better. It took some time to talk to the only worker at the desk. Her name was Angel. I asked where a core machine was, walked me to a row of machines and said they were all core machines. I started going through the row, and about half were for targeting other areas to work on the body. She seemed nice, but I noticed her playing on her phone when I walked up, so it was a bit unprofessional. Love the broadway planet fitness.

The club is fine. It is actually my favorite in Knoxville. Most of the staff is great, except for the new girl in the early mornings. I come in about 5am everyday for a long time now. Been with PF for YEARS with zero incidents with staff and just in the couple weeks that she has been here I have been harassed by her twice for stuff that has never been an issue until she started. Thinking about switching gyms at this point. Would like to workout unharassed unless I really do something wrong.

On Tuesday 1-14-2025
I went to this gym. My usual PF. Used a locker with my lock & did my business exercising.

After I was done and went into my locker..it was broken due to another member assuming it was theres.
(Information I received per staff.)
Another gym member assumed it was there's, couldn't open it and asked staff to break it.
After realizing it wasn't that persons locker,
they helped open that members locker.

Yet they left my locker there with a broken lock. Anyone could get into it.
Had my backpack with my wallet and car & house keys.

When confronted, they apologized, advised it was a mistake....yet made no recompensation for replacing my lock or acknowledgement my personal items were still left in locker for anyone to get too!

They could've at least taken my property to the front desk for safe keeping and place a note on locker advising so.

They do it for others that leave their stuff in lockers overnight.

Staff response & acknowledge of this situation leaves me uncomfortable, which sucks cuz I really liked the people who work there until now.

So this is a heads up to anyone who goes there.

The assistant manager does not understand her job angel is her name they tried to tell me my account was not paid so I drove down there and made a payment even though The app took a payment from my bank the previous day i’ve then had to call them back to try to get a refund. They said they would refund my money I’m not sure if they will. I’ll have to wait and see. They refuse to answer their phone now. I went to the gym this morning Dec. 14 8AM and they are closed??I waited for an hour thinking maybe the workers are opening or in the br.. no show.. No way to get in contact with anyone.. mailbox is full. I called another location asking about the closure and they said all the planet fitness are open today? I've been coming to this location for the last 2 years. Usually very early in the morning to study while I'm on the treadmill. Planet fitness does have a sign posted. The cell phones should be used in the lobby. However there is usually one or two people talking on their cell phones while they're on the treadmill. Evidently they have no clue that it interferes with those around them, or they just don't care. I know that it would probably be impossible to enforce the cell phone policy. However, people should just show a little bit of common courtesy. (I'll just start bringing my earphones to block out the noise)

Black card member and got up at 3:45 am to go to the 24-hr PF and true to form they don’t open the day after a holiday until 7am. This is ridiculous considering ALL working people have a normal schedule the day after any holiday- regardless of the holiday. Extremely inconvenient! I want to clarify that planet fitness is a wonderful gym, but here is why the Kingston Pike location is the worst and I highly recommend you do NOT make it your home gym:

1. Faulty/broken equipment, there are always multiple machines and equipment with maintenance signs on them, sometimes the same machine will stay broken for weeks at a time.
2. Staff, Every other location has very friendly and attentive staff. I don’t need help that often, but at this location anytime time I do I am ignored while they either talk or aren’t up there.
3. Bathrooms/general cleanliness, it’s always so bad in there! Or out of order! The bathrooms are straight up disgusting at times.
4. This location randomly closes with no notice other than a sign taped on the door. How is this okay? You’re telling me every staff member had an emergency at the same time?

I’ve been a member of PF for over 10 years and my home gym is Western Avenue. I feel sorry for the people I see signing up at the Kingston Pike location so I wanted to give a warning to help anyone considering decide.

It's a decent place to work out, but as far as the tanning beds go. They are a joke. They put me in bed 1 it had 18 bulbs out and the face tanner didn't work so they moved me to bed 5 well it had 8 bulbs out all on my right side and 3 on the other side so my legs couldn't tan. Before that I was in a bed with 12 bulbs out. I tell them exactly how many bulbs in each bed are out but they continue to put you in the same bed without replacing the bulbs. I just don't get it.

Easily one of the cleanest PF I’ve been to, and I’ve been to all in the surrounding area except Morristown and Western Ave. However, the layout of this one is honestly terrible. It’s such a small space and everything is so cramped together. I recently noticed they changed it up though to where you’re not making direct eye contact with the person right next to you so that’s slightly better. The men’s locker room layout is also awful too. As soon as you walk in, the showers are right there and there’s just such a lack of privacy since they’re right there at the entrance. I feel like the owner of this PF really just needs to rent out a different, bigger building or get land and build their own building that can have more space, privacy, and better showers.

Although this is one of the smaller PF gyms, I have always enjoyed it, especially the spa services as a Black Card member. However, their current renovations have changed the experience dramatically, especially for the guys. The mens locker room is now the women's, and the men don't have one anymore. There are tiny lockers in the main area for everyone, but too small for a regular gym bag. For the men, you have to go outside for a shower or to use the bathroom, after first requesting a key from the front desk. The shower trailer had no hot water, not even warm water. And the nozzles are all push button. So water will stay going for 10 seconds at a time. Additionally the black card spa was closed, although all the equipment seems to be running fine. When asked why it was closed, was told because they were waiting on timers, and it could take one or two more weeks. What I don't understand is why not let the Black Card members use it while the timers come in? Why close the spa? Especially since that's a service we pay for?
I understand with renovations, there will always be some inconvenience. I just don't think they thought this through in regards to the member experience, and I feel their solution for the time-being is not adequate.

They are remodeling, so I'm sure it will be nice, but no real notification on their website to let you know there is no men's changing rooms or lockers. None of the spa offerings. Would have been useful information before going to this location. Not a very big location.

Love this place and come overnight when not crowded but they have to do something about the music. I have my ear bud in as loud as it goes and the stupid music is overwhelming, they need to know that everyone has different taste in music and the fact that the staff can't control volume or selection is ridiculous. I listen to 80s rock and unless I put both earbuds in and play as loud as possible I'm stuck with whatever they are playing at the moment. Very annoying and ruins the mood. Staff very apologetic and nice but shouldn't be put in that position. Other then that it's 6 out of 5 stars

Well, this WAS an ok place to work out, but a week after I joined, they closed down the men's locker room for "renovations"? This made the place basically worthless to me due to the only time I have to work out is about 4:30 am on my way home from work. Now I have nowhere to change out of work clothes into workout clothes! Great freaking timing guys! Now I am basically just donating money to them for services I cannot use until they decide to make it usable again. Whenever that is. Seriously considered just cancelling and finding a place that HAS what they say they have.

Love this place. Staff is friendly and accommodating, the place stays thoroughly clean and the trainer Mark is very friendly and professional. I always look forward to going to the gym which is something I've never been able to say before I joined PF.

I love this club but it's extremely inconvenient that they aren't 24hr on Fridays. I chose this gym because I'm a closer at my job and I like to come after work. I understand altered hours on Saturday/Sunday but Friday is still a workday. I really wish they would adjust this because the only other Planet Fitness that is 24hr on Friday is in Maryville.

All that aside, this PF has an awesome staff. They're always friendly. The locker room and showers are always clean, which is a huge bonus for me because I like to shower at the gym but can't stand a dirty shower. I really do like the vibes of this particular club, it seems like everyone else who goes at the time that I do are working people like me who are just trying to get their grind on which is awesome. I never feel like I'm being looked at or judged. If you're looking for a gym where people leave you alone to do your thing, this is the one for you. If you're looking for a community where people talk to and support each other this isn't the place for that.

Been to over 40 PF's across the US, this has been the dirtyist & rundown. Trash on gym floor & especially the bathrooms. Empty towels, faucet broken, air hand dryer inop, urinals don't flush, paint chipping off walls, trash in lockers. This gym needs an overhaul.

The facility itself is fine and the staff is friendly enough but it doesn't seem like there any cleaning standards here. The locker rooms specifically are gross. There's been tape on the wall for months from where they had a painter come in. There is a ton of dust build up everywhere and the showers smell like they have never been cleaned properly. Not to mention all the shower heads and faucets are loose and spew water everywhere. Some of them don't even have hot water.

Also before whoever responds to these reviews says to talk to management, I already have and they didn't care one bit. Nothing was done about the issues.

I had a good workout! The equipment is more geared for those desiring a beginner or moderate level toning and training experience. Good facilities! I noted clean, organized facilities and a very helpful and friendly staff! Nice men's locker room ( incl clean!).

Very clean facility. Always see employees wiping down,vacuuming, dusting and changing out sanitizers. Staff is friendly and helpful. I only wish they had a better setup in the abs and stretching area. If there is a class it takes up a fair amount of that space forcing people to workout in front of machines they aren't using or they have to sit directly in the center of the space. But overall a great place to workout!

My first gym will be my last gym. It's that good. Take advantage of bringing someone with you for free and don't forget to try the hydro massage. You can visit any PF and if you travel you should definitely take advantage of that fact. Showers, televisions, toilets, we were literally going to make it our home base in New York City for a day trip.
