Let me start by saying the customer service is amazing at this location from Tony and Tanesha. Every time I enter the gym I’m greeted with a warm smile. My only concern is the out dated equipment. Please upgrade and get more hip abductor machines. This machine is out of order (broken) at least twice a week and it’s only one. This machine is in high demand so more is definitely needed. I recently went to the Midtown location and the equipment was updated and they had 4 upgraded hip abductor machines. Why is Summer not upgraded yet?

I love my local planet fitness. I go to both Poplar Ave and Summer- both are great! But Poplar is my favorite location by far! The Fitness instructor, Ahn Thu, is the sweetest woman I've ever met, and I genuinely look forward to seeing her every time I Go in.

It's pretty loud when you go in so, if you're autistic like me, invest in some noise canceling earbuds and you'll be fine. It's a very beginner-friendly gym. All of the machines have QR codes that give you video instructions on how to use them, and if you go on a Tuesday or Thursday, Ahn Thu can show you as well (dont be afraid to ask her, she's very sweet).

Only gripe I have is the drink prices, but every gym is gonna hike up the prices of their drinks for the convenience of buying them in-house. Just grab smth before you come in n it'll be ok.

One detail that I noticed about this location is that it has two digital clocks, it really helps keep track of the time without being too distracted from your workout rather than looking at your phone or watch.

I am writing to formally raise a concern regarding the experience I recently had at your Planet Fitness location.

I joined your gym and added a guest to my membership. On our visit, we were told that guests could use the hydro massage once, and that chair massage access was possible with coins available at the front desk. I was given three coins and, thinking it was acceptable, I used one and gave one to my guest.

On a later visit, when I asked for more coins, a staff member accused me of “sneaking behind” and “exchanging coins with my guest.” I explained politely that no one had informed me this was not allowed. Instead of clarification, I was met with hostility. When I asked whether I could transfer my membership to my guest, the same staff member dismissed me rudely and told me to “look it up on the website.”

I reminded her to treat customers with respect, to which she responded in an aggressive tone, threatened to call security, and refused to give me her name when asked. She said, “It’s none of your business,” and then escalated by saying she would call the police if I didn’t leave. This level of disrespect was both shocking and uncalled for.

More concerning, I’ve noticed that staff at this location tend to treat American members with more warmth and politeness, while members like myself, who are Indian, and others who appear to be Mexican, are not acknowledged or treated equally. I truly hope this isn’t a deeper issue at your club, but I felt it was important to bring to your attention.

I joined Planet Fitness because of its "Judgement Free Zone" philosophy. Unfortunately, my experience has been quite the opposite.

Was in town visiting and was very happy to find that amidst covid this place was being operated back 24 hours. It is a very nice, newer facility. I believe it opened during covid. It has all the equipment I am use to from visiting many different planet fitness'. The attendants were always pleasant during each visit. I attended during the 11pm hour for a week straight so traffic was not an issue. Looking forward to using this facility again when I am in town again.

My first time back since March to your Summer Ave, location.
The sign on the door read masks required. I thought that was great. To my surprise, this was not being enforced as a great number of people were not wearing masks. In fact most didn't come in with a mask on their person. Most were not cleaning the equipment after use.
Meanwhile, very rarely did the employees venture from behind the counters up front.
More than one paper towel dispenser was empty
It's my understanding that the city of Memphis mandates the wearing of masks.
I'm very disappointed
I will call the city Monday to report your lack of adherence to the policies put in place to protect the public's health during this time of rampant Covid19 spread.

Hola llevo 8 meses con Planet fitness y me tocó la mala suerte que me quebraron el vidrio de mi troca. There’s one or two nice employees here, but one of the security guards made fun of me for being unable to exercise much before having to leave soaked in sweat. Usually I don’t do this.. HOWEVER, after watching, and actively listening, to the 2 female , 2 male employees of this establishment Planet Fitness on Summer Ave making fun of their customers. I know for sure that planet fitness tag line and slogan is ‘NO JUDGEMENT ZONE’ it is literally plastered all over the facility and I’m sure the employees had to signed a contract for employment in that contract Im sure that they also read and signed that they would abide by that same slogan/tag line. I'm pretty disappointed this past week's They don't change the filter water we don't have water to drink, They don't even have water to sail, A thing the manager is not ready for that or something, Or maybe the assistant manager should take care of that, I've been telling them about the filter water. And they say there's nothing we can do. This part of Memphis needed a good gym for a long time, and it got that and more with this location of PF. The employees are kind and helpful, even at 5 in the morning, and have always been happy to answer my questions or show me how a machine works. This location in particular gets pretty busy right around 5:30 pm, so I generally try to go very early before work or late, maybe an hour or hour and a half before they close.

If you want to pay $250-500 for a monthly membership, look no further. Randomly throughout the day you’ll be gifted a car break-in to make sure you have a lasting experience. Whether you have anything of value in there or not; you and the others parked around you will join together as a community relaying details to the police and security that amount to nothing—except for the total you’ll pay to replace your smashed window of course. You’d think the lone two cameras pointed at a low and single direction would help, but guess again.

My honest non-biased review:
It’s a budget PF in comparison to others I’ve visited. Not uncommon for equipment to be broken. Not uncommon for the water fountain to be broken for 2 months at a time. Same with the toilets. Also a number of apparent homeless guests who only come in to shower. Never had a problem with them, just abusing the intended services.
On a positive note, they have improved by adding a parking lot security service due to the high number of break ins. Actually feel a bit better about vehicle security now. They do however need to clean up the broken glass from all the break ins. You’ll notice from one of the the other responses that this PF claims that the parking lot is not their responsibility. I disagree, the responsibility might not be theirs based on the lease “they” negotiated but it could easily be cleaned up by this PF owner if desired. I’m sure the parking lot owners wouldn’t object to PF cleaning up their parking lot for the customers!!!!
The best thing about this PF is the employees! They are first class in every way. Especially the desk managers. Super friendly and always helpful.

They have a very disrespectful and dramatic manager. She got me and my gym partners kicked out and called the cops on us for having backpacks. She told us to buy a lock but we told her we didn’t have any money on us and that we’d buy it the next day. She then proceeded to call the cops for absolutely no serious situation. It wasn’t our fault she had a bad night. The next day we came back and we saw other people working out with their backpacks by them.

Really like this location, but nervous because of the car break-ins that are not readily disclosed. Many times I have seen broken glass from car windows of the parking lot grounds. One day I drove around the lot and counted 9 piles of broken glass. Wish this PF would do more to help protect against car break ins when patronage are using the faces. The Poplar location is also bad. Whenever I visit PF I always look at the parking lot grounds for broken glass.

The place is small but has the basics. No free squat or hip thrust. Workers are very kind and helpful. I was in Memphis for work for a week and used the free day pass.
