I called to speak with a supervisor about a $50 balance on my account that is preventing me from starting my children in before and aftercare. I tried canceling it In year of 2023, over the phone but they want you to come inside the gym and cancel. I cancelled that membership way back in 2023.The lady who answered the call was so rude and unprofessional, also very unhelpful and completely dismissive. I asked to speak to a supervisor she transferred my call to voicemail. I went to the facility and Mr. Chad waived the fee for me with no problems & I Thank God for him. No I can enroll my children in school care.

Each and every time I go it is better than the time before, very clean facility. Mixi at the front desk is phenomenal and knowledgeable, Mattie and Mixi are amazing such a great smile and so awesome at their job!!!! always giving great energy. The young man at the front desk always has a positive and motivational comment every morning at 5am. Some days I am sore (or still sleepy) and contemplate going back home, but he ALWAYS offers a motivational word to push me toward my fitness goals and it is MUCH appreciated.

This location needs a serious upgrade. The ladies bathroom leaves a lot to ve desired. Because of the location there isn't room to grow. On Thursday August 8th I participated in Body Pump for the second and last time. The instructor was two minutes late, but yet instill late. He's okay, but some what I hid own world and doesn't give the alternative moves as each teacher should. Teachers should teach as if it's the first class for all students and not assume everyone is a ever week attendee. On Monday Jill from the Schilling Farms YMCA taught class and she was AWESOME! She should be here every week. The week before that I took Body Pump and Boot Camp with Megan and she ignores new students, isn't cognizant of who's in the room and doesn't teach alternative moves. She teaches as if all the students are veterans and that is a huge turn off. It displays a catch up and get in where you fit in type of atmosphere. Another brunette taught class and she wasn't any better. Powers that be instruct your instructors to READ THE ROOM and not be do focused on the routine that if a student has fallen off the boat you don't notice. To ensure satisfaction I'll make the schedule adjustment and go back to my home based why where I was 1000% pleased.

You feel like a part of the community. The Y is a great place to exercise. My family has been members there for years now and I can say without hesitation that feeling comfortable and welcome is tops on the Y’s list of engagement goals.

Everyone is very friendly at the facility - from the welcoming check-in lobby to the helpful people walking around in the fitness area, the goal is to help you have a comfortable fitness experience where you can be challenged physically and recuperate with self-care.

I also recently completed a 3-part fitness regimen with a personal trainer that was amazing. Jarvis was the right trainer for me and I appreciate the intentional nature of ensuring that I was partnered with a good fit. We focused the sessions on core strengthening and it was outstanding. I’ve learned 10-15 new exercises and stretching routines to help strengthen my core and support problematic lower back issues. Jarvis was careful to ensure I was never in pain and at the same time challenged me to achieve a little more than I thought I could. He’s a great motivator and focuses on positivity and encouragement.

I’m grateful to have a place like Ric Nuber YMCA to call my gym.

I called 3 times inquiring about the swim lessons. I received conflicting information each time. They made it EXTREMELY HARD to get information about the free swim classes. During the first call I was asked to come down and sign up for the lessons. The following day I change my work schedule so I can arrive at 8 am to sign up for swim lessons. When I arrive I was told there was nothing to sign up for, just arrive at 9am or 12:30 for the swim lesson. Fast forward to today, I TAKE OFF WORK and arrive at 12:15 and was told I couldn’t attend. I explained the situation to the young lady and she still turned me away, stating I didn’t sign up for the swim lessons! I’m beyond upset. I took off work and made accommodations for the entire week so that the children could attend swim lessons Monday- Friday from 12:30 to 1:30. I would love for the General Manager to explain to me why I received conflicting information from 4 different employees that work in the same building?

By far, the best place to swim laps in the entire Mephis metro. Open air when it's warm and a heated dome in the cool months.

Add to how clean it usually is, I haven't met a staff member who wasn't friendly and happy to answer any of my dumb questions.

Skip the expensive gym and give this place a shot. You won't be sorry.

The only thing I wish was different is the long trek to get from the parking lot, through the building, and out to the pool. Mainly because I'm lazy, but I wish there was an entrance just for pool access.

I can not speak to the facility. My 95 year old mother purchased a family membership for a grandchilds family which they no longer used. When she tried to cancel the membership she was told she would have to come in to do so. She has been out of her home three times in the last three years ( twice to the hospital) I called for her and was asked if I couldn't bring her in.She is not mobile and I explained that. I was told I would have to send a certified letter which I immediately did. Meanwhile the Y continues to deduct a monthly fee from her bank account. Be careful what you sign and do not agree to automatic deduction. Read your agreement carefully.

My husband and I live nearby and have passed this gym for years. We finally went in for a tour and joined almost 3 months ago, since he enjoys running and it’s way too hot to run outside. I have a peloton and adjustable weights at home but wanted to incorporate machines, barbells, etc. We are so happy with our decision to join! As others have mentioned, the staff is very friendly, on your way in and out everyday and tells you to have a good workout. I’ve been taking BodyPump classes regularly with Helen and I LOVE the class. Perfect full body high repetition workout. There are tons of very nice treadmills and the incline goes up to 20%, which is more than most people would ever want. They have almost every machine/weight apparatus you could wish for and I’ve never had to stand around waiting for what I need to open up. It helped that when we joined, there was a 20% off special so we will get that discount for as long as we are members. The pool is also great and they play good music! We love the Ric Nuber YMCA and would recommend to anyone in the area looking for a gym to join. Members are friendly and kind too!

This place saved my life literally. 22 years ago I was a homeless, single mother of 3 boys under the age of 5,and sleeping in my van. This (organization), gave us a safe place to spend our time when I wasn't at work and the children at daycare. We had many activities to keep us busy and healthy. The location we were at had a big cafeteria, with microwaves and vending machines, along with a small laundry room. My children will never know we were homeless, because the YMCA kept us soo comfortable. Not only did my children learn how to swim before age 4, all of my grandchildren are mermaids.My membership has been accepted all over the country, in every state I've visited.I've NEVER had a single bad or negative experience,or met an ill mannered person on any of my visits.Today I renewed my family membership (almost post covid restrictions). And if you can believe it, there is a special and I received 20% off. Membership fees are already unbelievably low and income based, but 20% off? A "true place of all people".

Would not recommend this YMCA. I was told to hold my account to avoid being charged due to COVID and being immune compromised. I held my account and told them i needed to cancel it. Without being told I’d be charged ANOTHER month that i wasn’t able to come in my account was cancelled and $65 drafted. I contacted customer care in hopes for a refund due to this and not being told about another draft i would’ve held my account longer. They are Money hungry and does not care about anyone’s circumstances.

Ok. I like this ymca! The locker room is spacious and clean! And the weight room is well stocked and equipped with every machine a person would need to change their life! The free weight area was a little small or cramped but still big enough to have a couple squat racks, bench press setups(incline,decline and reg) and other various racks!! This ymca does have a pool which is outdoors, but they are in the process of putting up a dome which should be complete by mid November?! The only thing that I would like to see change are the hours being extended to 10pm. Other then that this is a really nice YMCA, by far one of the better ones that i have visited! A family center. All ages can find something to do here. There’s numerous classes. Open to all ages. Kids can workout too. 10 and up can use equipment after an introduction class. Silver sneakers classes for seniors and field trips. Childcare is provided up to two hours while you workout. Swimming pool is open all the time. Even swim in the winter because a warm bubble covers their outdoor pool. The plus is memberships are good at any location. So no matter what part of town I’m in...I can get a workout or a class done.

My granddaughter and myself really enjoyed ourselves at the Nuber YMCA.. We went several times while we were on vacation here in Memphis Tenn. I would like to give a Jennifer Rutherford and Mrs. Bateman a very big and special thank you from us both. You both made a very enjoyable time for us two together. The pool was very clean and well maintained. There was several lifeguards on duty. And EVERYONE at the facility was so nice and always smiling. If I return to the Memphis area again, There is no doubt that we would visit again. This was the best experience I have ever received from a business. I rate this YMCA a 10, 0 being the lowest and 10 being the highest. If you are in the area of the Nuber YMCA please drop in and take a look around. You will as well have a great time like my granddaughter and I have done.
