I've been coming here for years and I love it. However, there has been this new employee, middle aged woman with short hair, that has ruined my experience lately. There have been several encounters with this employee that made me not want to return. We made her aware of a broken machine once and she accused us of breaking it and giving us attitude, when that is not the case. It was a new machine and most likely not constructed correctly. That's what we get for reporting a broken machine, I guess. We have made several attempts to smile at or speak to this employee in passing, but were met with a blank expression and no reply. Just mean mugging us instead. We also witnessed her tell a person listening to music outloud that she hopes the music they were listening to was Christian music, which it obviously wasn't. Just an odd thing to tell a member what they should be listening to, pushing religious beliefs onto strangers. During a storm, we were instructed to shelter in the locker rooms and were left down there for a while before we just left to go back upstairs. She met all of us at the stairs and said she had no idea why we were down there when she literally just told us to shelter in place down there and blamed us! She's just been rude and filled with attitude ever since we have come across her when we have not done anything wrong. We respect this gym, take care of the machines, and come often.

My son has gone to the YMCA Day Camp the past three years and the Director, Luke Tucker, has been an absolute blessing to our son and family! He is always on top of everything and very organized with the structure of each week and each day. My wife and I signed up for three sessions each with a personal trainer here at the Springfield Y. He spent good time interviewing us and then developing a training and exercise program for each of us to follow. He is very knowledgeable and easy to approach. We both feel we are on a good path to a better healthy life.

We just joined last week and have been welcomed with open arms! The swimming pool has been awesome; the lifeguards have been so helpful and kind. The front desk staff are always smiling and welcoming! Samantha and Becca in the Youth areas are so nice and playful with my two children. I'm very very impressed! It feels like a safe space!

Friendly staff and patrons. There's a variety of classes. Class instructors are always aware that not all class participants are at the same level. Oftentimes reminding you to work at your own speed. Sometimes an alternate technique is presented for those who need more or less of a challenge. In the mornings there's dedicated parking, classes, and activities for seniors.

We both enjoy playing pickleball with the faithful M-W-F group. The cardio workout is great and so is the camaraderie—lots of laughter and downright fun! We’ve made lifelong friends as a result! My husband also uses the weight equipment three days a week and has seen an amazing boost in his strength, endurance and overall health. The staff are always friendly and eager to help. The entire facility is sparkling clean and it is a joy to have this wonderful place available to us.

I love the Y. First I have to mention that the classes are awesome. The machines in the gym are up-to-date and there is a variety of equipment. There is also a place for kids to play with an adult to watch them, but only at certain times. I will say the coffee is terrible but if you are used to that kind of coffee then great.
They have both an indoor and outdoor pool which is nice and they keep their pools very clean. The women’s locker room is clean and the showers are clean.
The people are nice and we haven't had any problems so far. I recommend the YMCA.

Children are not protected at this YMCA! They allow adults to verbally attack 5 year old children who are simply waiting for their Mom, who is changing in a stall. The staff removed the child's attacker and vowed to revoke their membership. The child's parents were unaware of a reversal of the plan to revoke the attackers' membership. They only learned of this when they were again sharing space with the child attacker at the YMCA. The upset parent of the child victim was then asked to leave by a staff member who told the parent, "I don't care to know what the situation is." WTG YMCA, WTG!

BEWARE: Do not go to this YMCA if you have children. I referred a friend of mine to sign back up with the YMCA a couple of months ago and this is the closest one to where she lives. She has a 5 year old son who she obviously has to bring with her into the locker room due to this location lacking a family friendly locker room. While in the locker room a grown adult started screaming at her son calling him a pervert while his mother was in a stall using the restroom. Employees rushed in took sides and determined the woman attacking the child was the aggressor. She was contacted and assured the woman would no longer be allowed to return. Well when she returned to the gym today the lady was sitting right there in the weight room. Instead the woman was permitted to stay and they escorted the woman I referred.

I’ve had many complaints about this gym when I was I teen myself. One of which being it’s a family gym that allows grown men to walk around completely naked in the locker room while children are present. So understandably she was unwilling to send her small child into a locker room unattended in the presence of older naked men.

Mary Harshaw was above and beyond what I wanted for my first personal trainer experience! She gave me a variety of workout options cardio, free weights, and machines. I was definitely pushed, but exactly what I needed! She encouraged, all while being aware of my limits. I enjoyed my experience, with lots of sweat, but will use Mary again!

I think your staff at the YMCA is exceptional Always friendly and welcoming. The facility is always clean and it's really never over crowded. Lots of activities and events that everyone can do for all ages from children to the elderly. Great Place. Only recommendation would be it seems the indoor pool bottom flooring could use a cleaning, but that's it. Awesome place!

I have been working with a personal trainer, Katie and I just finished my last session today. The whole process was very positive and I feel awesome!!

Katie, is awesome!!! She is very thorough articulate well, listens well to your needs and helps you to be sure that you’re understanding why you’re doing what you’re doing and what part of the body that it’s affecting. If you’re having trouble accomplishing something, she will adjust & come up with a different way to reach the same goal!

Katie, has a good heart and truly wants to help people and ensure they have a good experience. If you are looking to getting a personal trainer, I would highly recommend Katie!!!

Been going here few a little over a year. It was absolutely great at first. Over the last year it has become absolutely overrun. Children are let loose as if the whole place is a daycare. Children are not supposed to be on the free weights and constantly hog machines in packs. Soccer is played on the indoor basketball court so good luck playing basketball. I have tried going to the gym at 5am mid afternoon morning and night and it is always absolutely overcrowded with no end in sight. Want to swim laps in the pool. Forget it. Wanna use the sauna? Good luck. Wanna use weights good luck and may the odds ever be in your favor.

I recently visited the local YMCA with the intention of joining for a workout. However, the experience left much to be desired. The outdated rule requiring a member to accompany a visitor hindered my ability to exercise independently.

Upon expressing my willingness to join, I was taken aback by a steep $70 joining fee and a $50 monthly charge. The customer service was lacking, with staff showing little willingness to address my concerns or offer assistance.

Overall, the YMCA’s rigid policies, high fees, and unsatisfactory customer service make it a less-than-ideal choice for those seeking a welcoming and accommodating fitness environment. I’ll be exploring other options in town that may better align with my needs.

I think the people here are lazy. Two days now the pools has closed because of “weather”. It’s been sunny an 95 for the past two days. Yet the pool has been closed because of lightning that never happened. The pool isn’t even the problem it’s the fact that the close down the sauna and steam room as well as the indoor pool. Again sunny and 95. They will shut it down because one cloud is in the sky and the forecast predicts a 30% chance of rain at 6pm. They will send the staff home if they see just one cloud at 1pm.and the pool will remain closed for the rest of they day even though it’s sunny and 95. It’s ridiculous. These people act as if they don’t trust their own eyes because it’s literally clear as day.
Anyways just wanted to let anyone that reads this know if there is just one cloud in the sky go ahead and leave your towel at home you won’t be needing it. No sauna for you.

It’s one of the greatest things Robt.Co has ever done. It’s so relaxing to go lay our by the pool or swim. When I was a single mom I could meet my friends there, send time with them, while our kids went to do their own ‘thing’. We didn’t have to watch them every second or worry. They were safe & having fun. Now, I have some physical handicaps and the water aerobics are great. And the jacuzzi feels pretty good too. Funny story, years ago when my daughter was about 4, we were at the out door pool. They called for adult swim. She cornered a lifeguard, had 1 hand on her hip, was pointing her finger at the lifeguard with the other. And was strongly expressing why she did not think it fair to have adult swim. Because they did not have kid swim. The life guard had no choice but to agree, to assure her release. My friends & I all were laughing. We have a lot of great memories. Thanks Robt. Co.

We have been members of the YMCA on and off for over 20 years! My son is 26 and he grew up enjoying the facility, now we have a 12-year-old daughter that enjoys going just as much! Our daughter was getting ready for basketball tryouts and started practicing at the Y when Jessi Parham began working with her. He cleared a spot for her on the floor (it was full and he wanted her to feel comfortable) and he focused on things she was struggling with. Her game improved considerably because he took the time (as he does with all the young people at the Y) Jessi truly cares about today's youth and he plants the seed of kindness with everyone he speaks to. He pours into our youth!!! After speaking with him several times about his parents and grand parents I could see what a truly special family he came from. It is always a pleasure to see Jessi! His smile is contagious and his love for what he does lights up the room! What a legacy he has created in the hearts of these young people and in the hearts of the parents that truly are in awe of the "extra" that he does for our children. We are truly blessed to have Jessi in our lives...even if it is on the court!
