I booked a preschool open gym session for my two younger kids the day after Thanksgiving. Since my oldest daughter (15 years old) was home from school, I brought her along so she could spend time here with me and watch her younger siblings.

Unfortunately, the front desk staff member did not allow her to come inside the gym area with me, even though other families had two or three adults accompanying one child. I politely asked again if she could simply join me instead of sitting alone on the bench, but the staff member repeatedly responded by saying he could refund me and I could leave if I didn’t want to stay β€” something I never asked for or even thought about.

What truly hurt me was the way he spoke to me. His tone felt angry and harsh, even though I was only asking politely why my daughter couldn’t come in with me. He said it was β€œpolicy,” but I couldn’t find anything stating that only parents are allowed to accompany a child or that older siblings are not permitted.

Even though it felt like he wanted us to leave, I still let my younger kids play and enjoy their time at the gym. They had fun, and that was the most important thing for me. But before booking anything at Sega again, I will definitely consider the way this man treated us.

I hope this staff member chooses to speak more kindly to families in the future and treats everyone in our community with respect.

It was awesome to let my toddler run around where I didn't have to worry too much about where he was, since it's enclosed. Great experience!!

Birthday parties here are great! Wears the kids out and they have fun. They are affordable compared to other venues.

The classes are enjoyed by my children.

🚨 PARENT WARNING: SEGA Gymnastics Security Concern 🚨

I want to raise awareness about a serious lack of security protocols at SEGA Gymnastics, particularly during pickup times for younger children (ages 3–5).

It would be disturbingly easy for someone to pose as a family friend, grandparent, or other familiar adult β€” especially if they've been seen casually around the facility (such as at a restaurant or local library). Simply bringing a toy or treat could make them appear trustworthy to a child.

There appear to be no ID checks, no secure hand-off procedures, and no staff supervision enforcing who is allowed to take a child. This puts every child at risk.

This is NOT to scare anyone unnecessarily β€” but to demand better safety measures and to encourage vigilance from other parents and caregivers.

Please speak up, ask questions, and make sure SEGA puts protocols in place to protect our kids.

**Fantastic Gymnastics – A Fun and Uplifting Experience!**

I can’t say enough great things about SEGA! From the moment you walk in, the energy is so positive and welcoming. The coaches are not only knowledgeable but also incredibly encouraging, making sure every athlete β€” from beginners to advanced β€” feels supported and motivated.

The facility is clean, well-organized, and packed with equipment for every skill level. What really stands out is the uplifting atmosphere. The coaches celebrate every win, no matter how small, and help kids push past challenges with kindness and patience. You can see the confidence grow in each gymnast, and the joy on their faces says it all.

Whether you’re looking for a recreational class or something more competitive, SEGA offers a fantastic balance of fun and skill-building. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a positive, inspiring place to learn gymnastics!

Please read this thorough review.

My daughter has been at SEGA for 2+ years and the gym is well maintained, it's reasonably priced, and the staff focus on gymnastics. The coaches do not tolerate cliques or disrespectfulness, nor do they show favoritism. They are honest with the children and parents and focus on gymnastics. The pricing is all up front, with no hidden fees. All these traits are greatly appreciated in gymnastics and are hard to come by in a gym.

All these 1 star Autism reviews are likely from people who have nothing to do with that actual situation. I also don't know that situation, but I do know the gym. The gym is set up to teach Men's and Women's gymnastics. In it's spare time, it hosts parties. I imagine it would be hard to ensure the safety of everyone who could possibly use the gym. The owner said he would try to improve the situation and I believe he will do just that. While the gym might not be living up to one persons expectations, I witness people from every walk of life training together, making friends, and supporting each other as they train. I see their parents getting to know each other and supporting each other just the same.

If you love someone on the autism spectrum I would steer clear of Sega!

Not friendly for special needs children. Take your money elsewhere.

I think its very DISGUSTING how staff treats autistic children! Why have a place designed for kids if you're not able to handle ALL kids?!?! Having a little patience goes A LONG WAY!!! Your staff needs better training!

0/10 would recommend!!

My kid who showed great interest for gymnastics for the last 2.5 years and who got selected for super shots within her first 6 months of training made us quit just because some elder coach (who is not even her designated coach) passed on some demotivating comments on her in front of other kids in her group. πŸ‘ŽπŸ» πŸ‘ŽπŸ»πŸ‘ŽπŸ» She doesn’t want to go back to Sega as she feels so embarrassed and upset about what happened!!

Bad experience. The instructor seemed like he didn’t enjoy working with kids. It was noticeable that he was agitated with the small kids. Instead of giving my 5 year old an example of what to do he would just tell her and when she didn’t understand he acted frustrated instead of just showing her what he meant. He didn’t incorporate fun or silly things into the class. Another 5 year old in the class was having typical small child silly behavior and when the class was over, he got down in the boy’s face and said if he was silly next class he won’t be getting a stamp and then repeated the exact same thing again to the boy. A bit overboard if you ask me. Also, the entire place smells like dirty feet.

Cold staff. Showed up with my little one and my older child wasn't allowed to come out with my toddler. There was no reference of this on their website. They said children would end up playing and I find it odd because as a grown adult I'll be playing too.. my son cried the whole time for his sis sister sitting on the bleachers so we left early. They called me again later and I shared my experience, they didn't care and short of hung up on me. The place is also dirty. So if you only have small children and don't mind the rude staff it's not bad for 5 dollars an hour just watch out they can get hurt easy there.

It was our first class and it was great. Not too crowded and the student to coach ratio was good; as was the diversity of athletes. The staff was friendly and helpful.

There are a number of places for children to play in greater Memphis. However, SEGA stands out due to two reasons: its reasonable price and the presence of a person who helps the children play with their equipment/installations. Will surely visit again!

I don't know, but by looking at the pictures it seems and looks really fun! Just to compete would feel good to be with a team and having some ups and some down would feel amazing and even if I haven't done this before I would imagine it feels great!😊
