I’ve gone to a few classes at this studio but I would not join before they fixed the heat. The instructors are great but if you’re looking for a hot studio this isn’t the one. The instructor mentioned that it hasn’t been working well for a while now and no one has resolved this issue. Disappointing because it’s a good studio in terms of teachers and location. Maybe they will fix it in the future but until they resolve this issue I will only do a periodic drop in class.

Well, this is sad, but I feel compelled to share my experience with Southern Soul. This is not a reflection of the instructors—they were all amazing.
I’m from Florida, but I was visiting a friend in Chattanooga for a few weeks while waiting to close on a home. When I showed up for yoga, they recommended the one-month unlimited package. They were aware that I was just visiting. I vaguely recall having issues with my MindBody account, and one of the girls at the desk tried to complete the purchase for me. I honestly can’t fully recall, as this was back in August 2024.
What I *can* recall is noticing a charge on my credit card in May 2025, and then realizing I had over $900 in charges from the studio. I didn’t panic—thinking surely it was a mistake and would be refunded. I got the manager’s contact info and sent her an email. She responded promptly, stating she would give me a call soon. However, around two weeks went by and I still hadn’t heard from her.
I reached out two to three times over the first month and finally got another response. She apologized, stating she was waiting on final approval from the owners to refund the money. She also mentioned that she had canceled the membership—which I had no idea I was even part of. This occurred on June 30.
It is now August 11. I’ve sent three additional emails inquiring about the outcome, stating that this feels extremely unfair. I recently signed up with a new yoga studio in Asheville, and as soon as I purchased their one-month unlimited pass, they both verbalized and had me sign a waiver confirming my understanding that it would automatically roll into a monthly debit.
If Southern Soul had a similar practice, I would’ve had no problem calling to cancel. But I was under no impression that I was signing up for a membership—especially since I don’t even live in Chattanooga.
I’m writing this because I’m extremely frustrated by the amount of time, energy, and money I’ve lost. It’s now been weeks since I’ve received any response, and I’m realizing they are simply ignoring my inquiry.
I’m friends with the owner of another local studio who knows Jenna, the owner of Southern Soul. She gave me Jenna’s cell phone number, feeling that if Jenna knew what was happening, she wouldn’t allow it. She encouraged me to text her directly. I did so—and again, received no response.
It’s all been extremely disappointing and feels like an immoral business practice. Therefore, I felt the need to share this review. I’m still hoping they resolve the issue.

I've been going to the Soul Power classes at Southern Soul Yoga for just two weeks, and I can already see and feel a huge difference — not just physically, but mentally and emotionally, too. These classes are the perfect combination of intensity and intention.
The instructors are knowledgeable, encouraging, and genuinely present — they create a space that’s both challenging and fun!

I’m here 2-3x per week and let me genuinely say I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else. I’ve been so picky about finding a new yoga studio since moving here from Tampa and having a wonderful one there. But this one beats it in so many ways. The space is gorgeous, first of all. Second, the staff is all so welcoming and sweet and approachable. Third, the classes are AMAZING. I usually go to hot power yoga in the evenings but sometimes I’ll do yin and every single class feels so intentional and well prepared. My favorite classes have been my soul power classes with Halle. She’s a ball of energy and is also so kind and encouraging. She really knows her stuff and you can tell how much she genuinely enjoys what she does, which makes me enjoy it even more. Cannot recommend this studio enough!!

After moving from Atlanta to Chattanooga, one of the things I missed the most was my Lagree/Pilates reformer classes. Once Jenna started her Reformer 45 classes, it has been a game-changer for me. Southern soul yoga 🥹 TY!!!
I completed a yoga teacher training at Southern Soul Yoga and it was as transformative as it was comprehensive.
The program excelled in blending the physical, philosophical, and spiritual facets of yoga, offering a holistic approach to our learning.
What truly distinguished this training was its emphasis on community. The nurturing, inclusive atmosphere allowed us to learn from each other, enriching our experience and understanding of yoga.
The curriculum covered everything from anatomy to yoga ethics, interspersed with practical teaching and meditation sessions, ensuring a balanced development as future instructors.
Our trainers were knowledgeable and passionate, fostering a supportive environment that encouraged collaboration and personal growth.
A significant highlight was the focus on community service, emphasizing yoga's role in social change.
This experience not only equipped us with the skills to teach yoga but also instilled a sense of purpose and commitment to using yoga as a tool for positive impact in our communities. In conclusion, this training was more than just an educational journey; it was a path to becoming a mindful, compassionate yoga practitioner dedicated to community betterment.

I began my yoga teacher training at Southern Soul Yoga earlier this March 2024 on Friday night. The owner Jenna Wright spent much time going over expectations. One of which was no late arrivals and no absences. I let her and her trainees coordinator know I have clinical anxiety and depression and it was the main reason why I was taking up this training to help with the symptoms and energy. I told them that first night that the most heads-up I could give to being late or missing training was the morning of depending on how I was feeling. The coordinator said that was fine. In the early morning of the next training day, I let the coordinator know I was not coming in due to not feeling well. She did not reply back. 3 days later I received an email dismissing me from the training program due to my absence. When I pursued answers as to why they could not accommodate my absence since it was medical and the program offered 75 extra hours to account for any missed hours, they stated they had "their own rules and boundaries set for how they wanted their program to run and that it was not the place for me and wouldn't of let me begin the program had they known of my anxiety and depression in the first place". No comment on the extra hours in place to give students flexibility. No comment on refunding me. No guidance as to other programs in the area. 2 stars because prior to being dismissed from the program I went in for a regular yoga class. Clean place, that particular instructor was kind. Would not recommend the yoga teacher training or expect understanding or flexibility from owner.

The community here has been such a gift. The workouts and practices have been meaningful and effective. I have done it all! Reform, mat Pilates, yoga and workshops! Most recently 200hr YTT. I always leave feeling very empowered, stronger and most importantly challenged (with love.) Specifically, when I am in my yoga practice, the challenge is not only with my body doing the asanas, but it challenges me to drop into a space where I actually want to think through whatever it is I’m going through. I feel like I have a save space to sort out the mess or reflect and have gratitude. Speaking of gratitude, I LOVED my Yoga Teacher Training program and would recommend if you’re serious about evolving into a more understanding, determined, light-bringing and self-aware version of yourself.
I had the joy of completing the 2023-24 YTT program. A group of us drawn together for very different reasons with very different background, and yet we all found a shared purpose. This sangha will be friends for a lifetime. 🤍🤍🤍
The program itself was intentionally laid out, the expectations were clear and honest, and showing up and staying committed was the big ask of yourself. It is no secret that a 200 hour program is going to span over about four or five months at a time—and that everything going on outside of this program will try and get in the way. Life happens and things get hard, but if it taught me anything outside of the posture of mind and body, it’s that we always prioritize what is most important to us. I learned how to make boundaries to make me more successful, to set time aside for what is life-brining to me and work through negative self talk and imposter syndrome.
I’m very grateful that I was challenged to pour into myself and make this experience a priority for me. Working full-time and having lot of unforeseen family circumstances weren’t going to get in my way!! I really appreciate it that there was honest feedback throughout our teaching practices because I would rather it with a group of people I know love and support me than from a studio or strangers who don’t. (I specifically wanted to teach after this program so I wanted to graduate feeling competent and confident in that).
Everyone receives feedback differently, but our sangha was deemed a safe space for growth and that what’s said isn’t an attack on character or is personal— it’s just are you getting the information or do you need to put in more work? You definitely had to be there every weekend, in classes for studio hours, and studying and practicing at home. If you only did it, halfway, you’re only going to get a sliver of what the full potential for you could have been. Not everyone who starts the program will finish the program, but I fully believe that if you want some thing, bad enough, and if it is a priority to you, you will do whatever it takes, and you will take pride and the process. If you’ve considered becoming a yoga teacher, or deepening your understanding of this beautiful practice, I definitely command going through this!!!
I also went through the reform Pilates training and have been teaching that for over a year now, and love it, if you ever interested in joining this team or light-bringers, please reach out! Clearly, I am obsessed and I can’t wait to do another training, who knows what’ll be next. ✨

The studio is always clean, and I was impressed seeing teachers mopping the studio floors after particularly sweaty classes. (This is not something I experienced at other studios while living overseas, so I am grateful when I see this take place.)
There are also a number of different styles of classes to take, and I have truly experienced and met some of the most thoughtful people while attending classes. (I've taken them mostly at Northshore location.)
As a graduate of the Fall 2023-Winter 2024 Yoga Teacher Training program, I am honored that this is my 'home studio'. On a whim, a week after moving back to the States after being gone for 8 years, I saw that Southern Soul was offering a YTT course.
Their syllabus online was highly inclusive of people from all backgrounds and beliefs, which was *extremely* important to me. From the first time we met together, this inclusivity was affirmed, and I couldn't be more grateful to have found this type of space in Tennessee.
The course work and time commitment is no joke and unless you make it a priority, you can quickly be overwhelmed with the amount of reading, journaling, stand-alone yoga classes and course hours required to finish this 200hr YTT training in the time allotted.
Feedback was requested often from us as we went along in the process, and I was one to collect it from the majority of my fellow Sangha members where our teachers, Jenna and Leah, took time to respond and alter things immediately that they were in control of changing.
I was vehemently against teaching yoga while doing YTT because of some personal life choices, but this program changed my perspective, since Southern Soul truly wants to break away from the Westernized 'gatekeeping' of yoga that other studios I've attended seem to be stuck on. Diversity and inclusivity is celebrated, and I couldn't ask for anything more from my yoga studio.

SSY in north shore is a terrific space to practice yoga in. Facilities accommodate a mid-day drop in very well, and the front lounge area is comfortable for catching up after a power flow or just chilling out after a yin class. It's centrally located right off US-27, and it's isolated enough from the bustling shopping center it's conveniently nestled so that it makes for a quiet, well lit and well temperature controlled space.
The studio's 200-hour yoga teacher training program is also very worthwhile and rewarding. The 2023-24 iteration I participated in took place every other weekend for ~4 months and came with an unlimited class pass thru MindBody. Like any program such as a YTT it is very much a "you get back what you put in" kind of experience. That said, the curriculum and teachers were great and their terms for graduation were laid out clearly from the onset. There was constant feedback throughout the program and I developed a deep and everlasting connection with my graduating sangha. Although I didn't anticipate wanting to teach at the end of it all (I only intended to deepen my own practice) I wound up testing out really confidently... and now here I am, about to teach my first ever yoga class!

Great classes and great instructors but I do not recommend getting your teacher training from here. On their website you can find their core Values listed, kindness and compassion being 2 of the values that were contradicted by the owner of the studio, Jenna Wright. The other teacher instructors were wonderful, helpful and encouraging but you won’t be testing out with them. You’re going to be tested by Jenna. I must say there were some students that were favorited over others. If you do decide to choose them over the other yoga studios for teacher training, make sure you strive to be in “the circle” so that when criticized, it’s just that. There is a difference between constructive criticism and tearing someone down. “If I were in your class I would have gotten up and walked out”. This was one of the many insulting comments that was made by the Owner, Jenna Wright when she was supposed to be telling the mistakes I made and how I could fix them. I hope this helps you know what kind of entities you will be dealing with when walking into YTT at Southern Soul Yoga. Be ready to be judged like your on American idol with Simon Cowell as the head person in charge.

a friend and I booked this class thru class pass and decided to walk since we live nearby. We had trouble finding the studio as it's in strip location, and ended up being 8 minutes late to the class. When we arrived the door was locked and the girl (with curly long hair) said we missed the grace period. This wasn't what upset me, but the fact that she didn't let us in to help us reschedule or talk to us and made us stay out in the cold. I used to work a front desk, I completely understand late policies! I just didn't like that she didn't assist us with rescheduling, let us in to warm up or use the restroom, and was very short and shut the door on us after saying "sorry" and literally shrugging. Just no effort in customer service, so I won't be coming back or rescheduling. :( bummer

I attended a yoga class at the studio and absolutely loved it. I was incredibly excited to learn they offered Thai massage and immediately booked a session online, which forced to pay $100 in advance when I booked. I arrived for my massage to find the doors locked and learned that my appointment had been canceled last minute and no one thought to call me. The owner said the massage therapist would reach out to reschedule. It’s three weeks later and no one has reached out and my phone calls and emails have all been ignored. Very disappointed to have paid $100 for nothing.

Enormous hot yoga room with ecstatic views of the mountains creates a one-of-a-kind experience at this studio located next-door to a Whole Foods. They primarily offer power flow vinyasa flow classes in a heated room, but supplement with tons of variety -- everything from restorative to hip-hop flows. Facilities are great and the teachers are super positive and fun while challenging!

I cannot express how grateful I am to Southern Soul Yoga and every single person on staff. While this review is long overdue and stems back several years, current events and struggles that have come with 2020 lead me to finally put my appreciation into writing. Not only is the studio always clean and welcoming, but also the instructors are incredibly professional, friendly, and are the primary reason that I continue to practice yoga. I am immensely thankful for SSY for providing free online classes during COVID-19 quarantine times and working so hard to give its members access to continued online streaming as the world begins to reopen. After moving away from Chattanooga almost two years ago due to my SO's military assignment, I lost touch with my practice for a long time. A blessing and silver lining to come out of the pandemic is that it reconnected me with SSY, my practice, and some much needed peace of mind that comes only from time spent on my mat. I am forever thankful to all of you! Namaste

Was in town for Thanksgiving, found SSY via Google search and so glad I did! Great space and vibe + the class was easily one of the most challenging I've ever taken. Great way to burn off the turkey, lol.

Southern Soul is what you'd want in a modern yoga studio. I value it for the consistent schedule of heated classes with teachers (& assistants) who get it and are accessible to beginners as well. I started with the new member 1 month offer, and have continued to re-load with class packages. Friendly environment and beautiful studio space as well.

Southern Soul Yoga Studio is the very first yoga studio I walked into. It is also the place I learned how to practice yoga, how to practice self-care.
The staff in Southern Soul Studio are so friendly and helpful. As a foreigner live in this country, they make me feel at home!
I recommend this studio!!!

LOVE this place. All the classes are great, but I'm a huge fan of the power classes with Yoga Nidra at the end. They also offer fun workshops to try out new things. Amazing experience every time!

The best yoga studio in town! The staff and teachers are accommodating and knowledgeable. The studio is pleasant, and you can’t beat having Whole Foods across the parking lot. Class types and childcare offerings are a win.

I have been going to SSY for over a year now and LOVE it! I started with the unlimited month to try out as many classes as possible and have done a beginners series too! All of the instructors are AWESOME! You can tell that they are committed to their practices and want to help you with your goals as well. Highly Recommend!

Not being an experienced Yoga student, I still always feel comfortable at Southern Soul. They are there to help and encourage! I have made slow progress, and I chalk that up to age, but I stay with it, because it is a special place that I love going back to!

When I drove across town for a class, the door was locked and nobody answered the phone. I called management to figure out where the miscommunication was between my signing up for a class and the doors being locked come class time when there was staff present who could have let me in.
Although I was super bummed because it's my birthday and I was really looking forward to class (and ended up just delaying my baby's nap time instead), they worked with me towards a solution.

Arrived 6 minutes past 8:30am because I was gathering my baby to go use this studio's childcare services. Utilizing childcare was my motivation to come.
Nobody at the locked front door. Nobody answering my call. I waited 10 minutes there with my toddler hoping someone would forgive me for being less than 10 minutes past the class time giving I had a toddler with me.
Worst part is today is my birthday and I was looking forward to trying this class. Shame the customer service was so poor.
