Super inconsistent hours. Front desk usually empty. Even on the last day they kicked everyone out a half hour early. Totally unsurprising they're shutting down.

By far, one of the worst gym experiences I’ve had in a long time. I previously had a membership at 24. However, I went to LA Fitness due to the unavailability of gyms in the area. This weekend, I figured that I go back and check it out before committing to a new membership. Glad I did.

Management should be ashamed of how FILTHY this facility this was upon my visit. Do they even have a cleaning staff? Do they care? I was just amazed on how bad it was. Overflowing trash cans and trash on the floors. This is ridiculous. Get it together. I feel bad for anyone actually paying to go here. Do better!

Puts the mid in midtown 24hr. Legitimately a nasty place, which is too bad because it's a convenient location.

The other reviews are right, the experience is disappointing from the beginning:
• bathroom/locker room looks like the whole thing was left to rot 10 years ago
• the floors and the equipment look like they're coated in years worth of grime. Even the weights look like they were all rolled around in dust
• it would at least be somewhat tolerable if you could at least clean the equipment yourself before using it, but NONE of the paper towel/disinfectant dispensers get refilled, or are rarely refilled, so not only can you not clean the equipment yourself, you know other people aren't cleaning after using it
• staff? Maybe one at the front desk

Not worth it, I feel like I'm going to catch something coming here sooner or later. Go to the Rice village 24 or the YMCA downtown for a better experience.

I like this gym, been going here for awhile. Not bad price, parking is sometimes busy at expected peak hours, just your basic gym. I hate how the hours changed, should think about changing the name, it’d a little misleading for ppl.

Gym is poorly maintained with multiple broken machines and seemingly no efforts to repair them. A lot of the equipment is also very dirty with some stuff looking like it hasn’t been cleaned for months. The icing on the cake is that there is only 1 working men’s toilet in the building and they toilets have been broken for weeks. Cheap price but not even worth it.

Employees are consistently 15-30 minutes late to open in the morning. Really unfair to delay people’s schedules. We wake up early to work out before work and them not having the courtesy to show up is ridiculous.

Excellent location. Free parking in a garage. More than enough equipment for any workout. But, this place does get packed. Update: Nothing has changed. Down one star because it is not opened 24 hrs anymore.

This place is disgusting. The only reason we go is because it's close. The steam room I'd covered in mold. The bathrooms have feces and I've even seen blood. No toilet paper. The staff sleeps on the desk and won't clean.

This is the dirtiest gym I have ever been to!!!!There are mounds of dust buildup on the floor by the walls, trash all by the equipment. Even the desks they have by the spin room are filthy and that’s what the staff uses. The restrooms smell like sewerage. The pool area looks like it has never had a deep cleaning ever. And the sauna is always at a low bacteria feeding temperature around 110 . That is so unsafe. It’s a disgrace that this is a 24 hr gym in midtown. I expect better. I Will cancel membership because place is so bad. Iv gone many times over the span of 5 months. Every time it is dirty

They have all the equipment you would need, however it is filthy as hell. The floors in the sauna room are muddy so wear your shoes. The weights are rusty and some of the equipment. The machines are visibly dusty. Majority of the time the spray bottles are empty. It is obvious there are no workers or cleaning staff.

With the subpar condition and lack of cleanliness it is apparent that management does not care.
It's not "24 Hours" and the staff can't even make it there on time because people are sitting in the cars waiting.
I arrived at 6:15 on Saturday morning because the so called "24 Hour" gym opens at 6:00am and folks were standing around outside. I waited until 7 and no one showed up.
This shows that management clearly doesn't care about or respect the paying customer.

I concur with all of these reviewers!!! This is a “Prime” location that lacks the basic cleaning and operational principles. I can confirm all of these statements, the facility doesn’t look clean, the bathrooms are desperately needing a major cleaning and the equipment can be considered a safety risk! You don’t even see staff or Managment walking around so it’s concerning that they don’t care about their location.

I have the displeasure of holding a 24 Hour Fitness membership at this location and it has been one of the worst gym decisions I've ever made. The facility is simply disgusting, with a horrible smell and mold growing in the showers. The equipment is either outdated, broken or scattered all over the gym. The staff is constantly late to open the doors, showing no respect for people's time. Despite multiple people raising similar issues with management, they've only issued out empty promise of improvement. My advice is to avoid this gym at all costs and spend your money elsewhere. 24 Hour Fitness is a terrible place to work out, and I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone.

Annoyed that they aren’t open earlier. Not sure if it changed because of covid but was told they open at 6 instead of 5 like it says online. I signed up because I live close, and wanted to work out before going to work, which I won’t be able to do.
Not sure if they again changed when they open, but when I went to try working out 2/10 at 630 the doors were still locked and people were sitting in their cars waiting for it to open. Very upset by this!!

I believe this facility has seen better days in terms of general upkeep and cleanliness. They need to revamp and remodel to revitalize the experience (and folks would be willing to pay for that improved experience). Tellepsen YMCA is a remarkably better value overall, despite the modestly-higher monthly price tag.

The staff is trash, very unprofessional. The woman at the counter was sitting ON the counter eating like she was at home chillin with her friends. Not at all professional or helpful. I signed up for a guest pass online, which the website allowed me to do so I feel like I should have been able to get in. So then she starts telling me about the special and then says “oh I’m not in sales”, as if I’m supposed to just know that right off the bat. People come for convenience but it’s a trashy place. And you would think as many reviews as they have that they would actually do something about it.

24 Hour Fitness in Midtown on Louisiana Street IS the single most disgusting, unsafe, and low quality gym I have ever been to and I have lived in five different states in my life. I have been a member for 1 year and have gone 3 to 5 times per week so please read what I’m saying (as I cancel my membership effective today)

There are balls of human hair accumulating in the little corners by the free weights where the staff obviously does not vacuum or mop.

The equipment is CONSTANTLY broken and is not repaired. I’m also referring to toilets, drinking fountains, lockers, etc.

This gym is CONSTANTLY BUSY! Good luck going here if you work during the day and go during the prime hours because there is nothing left to use during this time.

This gym smells like dirty garbage mixed with the nasty exhaust gas of the restaurants below the gym. You can smell the fry grease coming up into the gym from the Korean place below as you’re doing cardio.

There are some SKETCHY men at this gym. If you are a woman and in good shape, count on your workout being interrupted by men looking to make nasty flirty comments. My girlfriend (also cancelled membership after only three months) has been approached multiple times where disgusting comments were made including as she was walking to her vehicle. This gym is NOT SAFE FOR WOMEN!

Homeless people congregate in the stairwell leading from the parking garage to the gym.

PLEASE do not go to 24 hour fitness midtown!

This place frequently runs out of paper towels.. take forever to fix equipment including the urinal in the upstairs men’s bathroom. They took forever to repair their water fountains (took months). Also they should rename themselves “15 hour fitness” since they close ridiculously early.

(1) the gym is NOT 24 hours, but charges the same for memberships as a 24 hour gym
(2) the girl with cheap overdone eyelash extensions that works at the front desk is wildly unhelpful and completely rude and dismissive, she refuses to do new memberships or tours or answer basic questions so I'm genuinely confused about what her job even is there other than to pace the gym for the last fifteen minutes before closing and harass everyone
(3) it's not filthy, but it's not clean
(4) parking garage is pretty packed most of the time due to multiple shared venues at the location

I signed up for free guest/trial pass. You can do it online, all they ask is where you are located and they find a gym for you.
Cool.. my first time there last night. I hand them my out of state ID and it I was all set.
I wasn’t offered a tour of the place, just told to ask if I needed anything, cool.
I’m looking around for stretching equipment, o ask an employee upstairs. He looks confused and has no idea what I’m talking about, I asked for a foam roller and things to do arm dislocations, he send me downs stairs, which has nothing, so I just decided to fend for myself. The next day I come in and tell the person at check in that I’m on a free pass and hand my ID, he looks confused and sends me to a lady who looks miserable and hungover, I do the same hand her my Id and she instantly denies me, asks me if I have a texas ID instead. I tell her no and try to show her the email Confirmation number, and still denied me. All the while about 5 more employees are huddled in a circle just talking.
The gym itself was ok, and mostly clean, but the employees there are terrible!! They lack knowledge to help the clients who and seem to be all over the place with their policies. I really wouldn’t recommend the place bc who would want to be a part of a gym when the employees seem to lack moral, knowledge, and motivation to their jobs.

I want to like this gym so bad because it’s so close to me. But they’re missing so many inserts you use to adjust your weight on the machines that you’re having to scramble throughout the gym to find insert on another machine. I don’t understand why anyone would steal these, but at least replace them. I had to buy my own on Amazon because it’s extremely annoying trying to find one to use to adjust my weight. Also, if you’re a morning person, don’t expect the gym to be open at the time they have advertised. This morning everyone was waiting outside waiting for someone to open the doors. I left after 5:36 because I had to get to work. If you can look past these complaints, the gym isn’t too bad.

I have been shopping gyms in the midtown and Greenway areas. I signed up for a guest pass for this 24 hour in midtown. The Front Desk girl was very nice and was very helpful. The workout areas are adequate equipment wise. The floors in all areas need cleaning! When I went to the locker room and wet area, it reminded of the old Bally's during its downfall. the lockers were beat up, and again, the floors needed cleaning. I looked into the showers and was floored at how nasty they were. I left mid workout for LA Fitness Greenway. I will check out the 24 hour in Rice Village tomorrow to see if it's any better.

Legitimately a lackluster experience. Went to this location 3 times and every day I witnessed messy floor filled with trash, restrooms appear to not be cleaned other than parts of the floor. Showers have mildew and mold all over the walls. Poor water pressure on drinking fountains. Torn, ripped, and older equipment that needs to be retired can be found throughout.
Dumbbells scattered all throughout the gym.
Staff was mildly friendly, half of them greeted me (after I made the initial greeting).
I hope this gym can do better.
Toilets appear to have never been cleaned before.

The management at this gym is awful... I decided to freeze my account for a couple of months and specifically had a conversation with a manager who told me nothing would be charged when my account was frozen... just to see 2 random charges of $65 this month. I called and spoke with a manager today and was informed that the annual gym fee is charged to everyone regardless of what their management told me. He offered no solution. They also "changed" their policy and decided to charge people $12 a month every month the membership is frozen... and never informed the members! How are you going to change your policy and arbitrarily charge me and not inform me? This gym is a scam.

Also, FYI - the gym has gotten nastier as time went on. Bathrooms are dirty, no water in the water fountains.... How are you going to have a gym with no water lol. What a joke. Don't waste your time here.

This gym is gross! I'll start in the girl's locker room, there are ants crawling around and the locker room/restroom are not clean. I have complained on multiple occasions about the ants, but they are still crawling around. Today, there was no water in the gym, that meant no flushing the toilet, no washing your hands, and no re filling your wattle bottle. Another thing is that there are no paper towels in the girl's locker room, this is annoying because you can't freshen up after a workout. The only reason I come here is for the location and price, but these issues are getting out of hand.

No longer a 24 hour gym!
No one wears a mask in the gym anymore as it is not required or even recommended anywhere.
Social distancing is not recommended anywhere so i had people show up to use the machine right next to me as many other ones were available.
People don't tend to share the equipment. There is no common sense or written rule telling people to not sit at one equipment for over 30 minutes.
There is one of some very popular equipments such as the leg curl which means waiting a long time or just leaving without getting to use it.
The bathrooms are not clean!
There is a drip from the ceiling and there are buckets on the floor to catch them.
Overall, i do not recommended this gym! The location is good but everything else about it sucks!

Personal training at 24hr fitness with personal trainer Chris D. was fantastic. I started seeing him a few weeks into my recovery from an invasive surgery on my right wrist after I dislocated it and broke it. My goal initially was just to get back into being active after 2 months of being sedentary. At first we only worked on lower body and regaining movement. Then it evolved into regaining strenght to my upper body/ arm/hand, since the injury I had sustained to my wrist had hindered my arm mobility significantly. As time went on, Chris was able to determine when I could safely be challenged a bit more and our sessions progressively evolved into more intense routines that progressed in a manner that were best suited for my lifestyle. Most importantly, he was realistic with my abilities and tailored my monthly goals/workout in a way that was achievable, while simoultenously challenging me.

Chris understood that I skate and cycle regularly, and thus took these activities into account to tailor the best weekly workouts, REST days needed throughout, and target heartrates I should be aiming for during those cardio days. Moreover, after discussing future sports related goals and events of mine, he would begin to adjust the workouts to prepare me for those future sports events and always followed up with how my events went.

One of the most important things to me as a very active woman is that my body is performing in the manner that it needs to in order for me to execute the wide array of activities I engage in. Listening to my body is key for me and if at any given moment I felt something was not within my abilities, I felt I could communicate this to Chris and he would immediately adjust the workout in a manner that was honoring my body and yet still challenging me. Chris is an overall knowledgable and professional personal trainer that far exceeded my expectations and not only helped me regain my previous level of activity but pushed me further to reach fitness goals I never knew I could reach.

I'm really not sure what's going on but post covid this place is kind of a dump. The upstairs is grossly hot (you will be drenched in sweat after just stretching) and you're looking at a third of the equipment being broken or "currently under repair" (including cardio machines).

The clientele don't respect the equipment and there just isn't enough staff to keep up (I saw a dude today drop a 100 pound dumb bell and leave it in the middle of the free weight section and leave his bench drenched in sweat, like cmon ya'll are straight trash.)

I live across the street so I put up with it but if you have to drive here please just spend 5 more dollars and go to LAFitness by Costco or the MedCenter, you won't regret it.

I would give zero stars if possible. I got an appointment online for a 3-day free gym pass and I received an email from the team giving me my appointment date and time. When I showed up for the appointment the team told me that my appointment would not be honored but I could buy a Day pass for 10 dollars. Although I insisted and showed them the confirmation email, they really did not care and did not try to accommodate. The staff was nonchalant and it seems that they couldn't care less. Terrible experience! I do not recommend this specific location.

Update: 7/19, guess COVID is over for this location…. Often runs out of soap, sanitizer, paper towels. When brought to The management’s attention nothing gets done..

Update: The gym remains the dirtiest in town.

24Hr Fitness Midtown is a Houston COVID-19 super spreader. Today I returned to this gym from pre COVID. I had been using an alternate gym, as it was cleaner and less crowded. 24Hr Midtown is much cleaner than pre COVID, but there were multiple patrons not wearing their masks or not wearing them properly. I went to the clerk at the front desk and explained to him what was going on and he informed me that there were not enough staff to monitor the facility do the limited employees they could have do to COVID safety concerns. There were two employees in the facility that were visible for the entire hour I was there, and no one in the workout area. The Manager on Duty was at a desk in the sales area looking very comfortable. There was no one insuring compliance of mask donning for the safety of patrons.

This place has temporary hours due to the recent weather. Did not advertise this so I found out it was closed once I drove here. It’s Saturday and the super cold is gone, it should be open regular hours. Get your act together and be prepared so you don’t have to close early, I’m not paying my dues for early closings.
Secondly, they never have enough parking as people park their cars on the third level when it’s supposedly only for 24hr fitness customers.
Lastly, they shut down their water fountains and although I bring my own water I need to refill my bottle and it’s an inconvenience. I know this is one location however has is downside so If things don’t change then I’ll be rethinking my loyalty to 24 hr fitness.

Sad that corporate doesn't do anything about this issue. Time for some serious quality control🤦🙄 24 hour fitness pay attention to your customers.

Just got a membership here through my new job in the area mainly for the convenience with being able to walk between the two. This review only addresses the cardio and weight areas. I've been here twice now and have decided to cancel the membership and stick with the gym I've been using prior.

The cardio equipment and area is good. Updated equipment and a good variety of machines. Would give that area 5 stars.

As for the weights, they are old, rusted, and falling apart. I am not prejudice against older equipment, but they need to be maintained. Today I went to use two cable machines (abductor/adductor) after cardio and they are both broken, but not to the point of emergency repair. The pin is missing on one machine, and it is a smaller one than the other machines so I couldn't grab one elsewhere, needless to say I shouldn't have to in the first place. The other machine's cable is stripped of the outer insulating layer and the cable is starting to fray, as well as being super stretched so you can't get full range of motion. While looking around for other equipment to use, I noticed the majority are not properly maintained.
A reason for the lack of maintenance is most likely because there is only one, two if you're lucky, of the same machine so if it is down for maintenance there is not a different one to use. My goal to use this gym near work was to save time from having to drive to my gym and then home, but when I have to wait for almost every machine then it's not saving me any time in the long run.

The pool, sauna, etc. might be decent, but there is no point in me trying them if the weight area is not facilitating. I understand the rust can be caused by the humidity from the pool, but proper maintenance (again) should help prevent that. They need to overhaul the weight area before I ever consider trying them again. Definitely try a free pass if they offer before signing up.

I have worked out at this gym for 9 years, 4-5 days per week, and typically arriving at 3:30am due to my work schedule. When the gym opening time officially became 4am earlier this month, I adjusted my schedule to accommodate. But this gym cannot seem to open on time! They are between 15 minutes to 2+ hours late in opening, without exception. I am researching other options like Anytime Fitness and other truly “24 hour” gyms. Frustrating.

24 hour fitness recently changed their hours to start at 4am. On week days you're lucky if they open on time but it's not too bad. On weekends they don't show up to unlock the gym until 6 or 7am. Don't count on this gym if you work out in the morning.

Overpriced and overrated. You pay an additional 10$ per month for super sport but this particular location removed towel service and now the hours are changing and no more kids club so idk what we’re paying extra for. This gym membership is a huge rip off and a joke! most sport locations are better maintained than this one but the convenience and floor space of this location is why most people come here. Horribly dirty! Now they have stopped supplying towels and the equipment is left with sweat to add to the filth. Parking is horrible as well since the top floor has tons of issues and is often closed off, the first floor is valet only so it leaves the middle floor for parking and many people park there and head to other businesses around the lot. I have downgraded my membership as this location adds nothing I need for the extra money.

Management does not care if your stuff gets stolen or your locker gets broken into, they turn a blind eye when you report it to them. Lost all of my personal belongings including my car keys. Getting your car broken into is the norm here. They have cameras but will not show footage of any evidence even to the cops.

This used to be a great gym that went completely down hill. Most of the ellipticals didn’t function smoothly. There is rust on most Cardio machines due to sweat and machines not being wiped down. A lot if the equipment is broken and out of service. The upstairs is nice. It’s quite spacious if you go during the off peak times. The weights are nice and you can find what you’re looking for. The open area for stretching and doing calisthenics. The area the gym is located is convenient but the parking lot sucks, the spots are too tight and it gets really busy. There is a lot of room for improvement at the gym.

I was at this location recently. I had signed up for a 3 day pass as I arrived I checked in as requested thinking that was it then this guy by the name of Stephen Thompson grabbed my ID from the clerk and when I asked for my ID back he didn't want to return it to me and wanted to charge me $10 for the day as a threat for not followin him to his cubicle He said "I still need to check you in" I responded that I had already checked in. Then he continues his sales pitch which I had made clear I was not interested. He continued to push the enrollment, I kept declining. It went on for half an hour up to the point he had some other guy try and help him to convince me with the enrollment. I kept declining. They even went as far as suggesting to me to cut off other personal expenses to afford the enrollment. I was so offended that they wanted to get involved with my finances just so he can make commission. It was a horrible awkward experience and I my friends and I will NEVER return to this location.
