Amazing place. Great people, and I personally have made very close friends here. Also probably the best teachers you’ll ever have. Sensei Wilson and Renshi Johnson are very great at teaching the subject.

I have been a student at AAMA karate for many years and have learned many great principals during my studying. I started at AAMA when I was 7 years old and continue my training today. I am a 1st degree black belt at this time and the Karate taught here is superb! My instructors are very keen on their technique and consistently strive for better. I highly recommend AAMA to anyone looking to study Karate!

I have been training at AAMA of the Wado Shinzen Kai since 2010. I have worked my way up to a 2nd degree black belt along with a black belt in kobujutsu, or traditional Okinawan weapons application. This was all achieved here at AAMA in Waco. The lineage & knowledge possessed at this organization is as good as there is in the country. Owner & Chief Instructor, Chuck Johnson, has as much knowledge about karate as anyone in Waco. His willingness to work with all students & his patience to help mentor younger students is top notch. There are smaller classes so more personalized training can occur. Belts are not given away at this school. If the material is not known & the students are proving that they are not practicing, they will not pass the test. However, if the student is showing they are giving effort, they will be happy with their progression. We participate in kata & kumite competitions with the AAU & other organizations so there is opportunity to compete. Being a part of our competition team, you will get special workout opportunities improving agility & quickness along with endurance & strength. There are beginner's & intermediate's classes 3 days a week along with the opportunity for advanced training 2 days a week. There is opportunity to train in BJJ as well with AAMA. We also travel to seminars across the country to meet & train with the top self-defense practitioners in the industry to keep our skills sharp & ready. If you are looking to get in shape, learn a traditional martial art, or train for real-life self-defense application, come check us out at AAMA in Waco!

My son has been going to AAMA for several months and it's amazing. The instructors are very patient and knowledgeable. I even started to the classes with them myself after a few weeks.

Great environment and flexible class schedule with multiple days a week available for beginners. Highly recommended.
