I have been a student and a parent of a student in this gym since they opened two years ago. Since that time, we have experienced the following:

• Amazing Seminars. Professor CJ has brought it world champions like Kendall Reusing, Johnny Tama, Felipe Costa, Victor Hugo, and more in a very short period of time.

Speaking as a student: I typically train at the 5AM class with Professor Jordan on Tuesdays and Thursdays. He has a unique coaching style that ensures his students get in a lot of good work while also helping younger students along their journey. I also love training with Professor CJ during the evening class — his attention to detail and emphasis on being technical has been so helpful to my development as a student these past few years.

Speaking as a parent: I have loved the personal growth I’ve seen in my son these past few years. Professor CJ’s emphasis on good wrestling, a positive attitude, self-confidence, and hard work have been a great combination for my son. When CJ is out of town or unavailable, the other kid’s coaches (Jason, Leah, Bryce, and KiKi) do a great job as well.

This gym has been such a blessing to my family. Cj is invested in each child’s life and is passionate about what he does. Each teacher there cares about the children and works hard to make sure they feel seen and heard. They not only teach jujitsu but instill valuable principles that will stick with them forever. I’ve seen changes in my own children and even in myself and it’s because we stepped into that gym. Everyone treats each other as family and it’s somewhere we call home.

We had searched for the right place for my son to begin learning jiu jitsu. We tried other schools that just didn’t fit with the leadership that he needed. Professor C.J. leads his school with heart and dedication. He shows compassion for everyone on, and off, the mats. He is so good, in fact, that he talked me out of retirement and back towards my jiu jitsu goals. JT still talks about BJJ being one of his favorite sports. I am proud that we are both a part of this wonderful family he has built!

I signed my son up in July 2023 so he could learn a way to exercise and defend himself at the same time . After sitting there for an hour everyday one of the dad's ( John Trout ) asked me to try a class and I made excuses everytime. One day I made the choice and Bea was so excited I was signing up , the excitement on Cj's face when he seen me in my GI was priceless. Seabass and I now have mats in our garage , practice moves on each other and share the same love for Jiu-jitsu!! Thanks to CJ , Bea , all the coaches and teammates who make Águila Jiu-jitsu feel like a family .

My daughter wanted to get into Jiu Jitsu but our gym in NM wouldn’t let my fiance start a kids gi program. I gave Aguila a shot since it was just down the street from our midland home & an old friend I used to roll with (Leah) was helping coach there. Aguila immediately felt like home. My daughter has had some “behavior issues” in the past (long story), but at Aguila she felt loved, wanted, encouraged, and accepted. I’ve never seen her thrive anywhere the way she does there. Aguila still feels like home. CJ & Bea are people I look up to and adore whole heartedly. They not only changed my daughter’s life but mine as well & I still consider Aguila my family even though we don’t get to go back to midland as often now.

Coming to train here is the highlight of my day. Everyone is really friendly, and it is a great environment. The coaches are very good at explaining everything in great detail, and answering any questions you may have. Their class schedule is getting bigger so finding a class that fits with your schedule would not be very hard. Training here is a great option, and I cannot wait to train here more.
