I hate working out! Always have. But I love it when someone takes notice of any progress I've made. Fortunately I was blessed with good genes, but any other credit goes to Alliance Physical Culture. I wouldn't dream of going to a different gym.

I’ve been going here for over 5 years and it is the best kept gym secret in Austin. Only serious members with no big gym drama. The instructors all really know what they are doing. Feels like grownups work out here.

If I had known gyms like APC existed, I would have joined so much sooner. It’s small but packs a punch, centered on learning, and full of kind people. I’ve learned so much from the trainers, including the owner, Gray. I love being part of the community he’s created. I joined more than 2 years ago and still get stronger every week.

If you all aware of the TV series “Cheers”, this is the gym version where everybody knows your name. My third place in Austin, it’s a happy place and a serious health place. Gray, the Owner, is an amazing coach, mentor and health visionary. The community is composed of all generations and backgrounds. I have had the privilege of being part of this community for 3 years, and at 64, I am in the best shape of my life and I have a clear vision of my amazing health journey. Cheers to APC!

My favorite thing about this gym is the "come as you are" atmosphere. No gym-bro culture, no weird culty stuff. The owner, Gray, is very knowledgeable and clearly loves helping people get healthier and to set and achieve realistic goals.

I am very happy that I found this gym. I tend not to do well in large, over populated gyms and find them overwhelming. I enjoy that this is a smaller facility but has everything you need including super helpful and knowledgeable trainers. Multiple price options make it accessible with many that include an App and classes to keep you on track. I highly recommend APC.

This is a quality gym, we loved it there. Owner Gray is kind, passionate, and very knowledgeable. The gym has awesome equipment for those who are into strength training, and the associated app has a series of easy to access videos on how to use it all. The place rarely gets too crowded (and the crowd is a diverse group of chill and often knowledgeable individuals), parking is easy, and the 24/7 access is well appreciated. APC is a dynamic place, too, with a regular stream of new equipment, collaborations, and fun suggestions passing through. The latest I remember was the addition of a cold plunge in its own individual room as an new option for members.

This gym is the best place to ever happen to me. I began as a patron working out in this lovely boutique gym and was quickly envoloped in the family culture and feeling of every individual that goes here. The owner Gray is one of the most personable people that I have ever met and cares dearly and deeply about the experience and relationships that he has with his members. I enjoyed this place so much that I had the opportunity to join a work study program and begin to know my fellow gym members on a more personal level. During this time I learned more than I ever could from any book or course and was blessed with the insight that the owner Gray had to give on the world of personal training. It definitely takes someone special to choose to work with a complex population and do so much good for the community.

Great gym that's very welcoming, can't say enough positive things.
It's never too busy and has a friendly community with a variety of experience levels. Membership is reasonably priced and no overly convoluted membership contracts. The owner is also very friendly and helpful.

Working out at APC has been a fantastic experience. They offer plans with group/guided classes as well as 24/7 self-serve access. The coaches are all trained or in-training physical therapists, which which puts some rigor and science behind their methodologies.

There's just enough equipment for almost any training regiment, though space is limited. 1 of each piece of equipment so you may need to be flexible based on other members.

Uniquely, they have a full set of speciality barbell and a huge range of kettlebells. Also a sled, a small turf area, bike/rower/ski machine, mats, and mobility equipment. Those have been harder to find at other lifting focused gyms in my experience.

All in all, a well thought out place to work out if you're ok with no-frills and just want to do the work.

The 24/7 access is a game-changer. I can work out on my own schedule without any hassle. The trainers’ expertise is also impressive, should you choose to pursue personal classes or just inquire about an exercise. Gray deserves a shoutout; his responsiveness has made my transition to Austin that much easier. If you're tired of crowded or overpriced gyms, APC is a gem.

100% a great gym. Ive lived all over the U.S. and been a gym rat for years and when i say i love everything about this place i mean it all. The culture, how chill but likeable everyone is, the lack of egos, equipment plus training variety, and everyone is there to work while learning. The owner is the type of person that many gyms would benefit from having around. If youre out this way pull up and enjoy a dope place that fits everyone.

This is the gym you want to go to. It's for all experience level and truly loaded with all the equipment you need to get properly strong. There is a set of calibrated LB plates so I can ensure my powerlifting competition prep is done right. The owner has a fantastic training philosophy that strength and learning is for everyone.

I've been coming to Alliance Physical Culture (APC) since moving to Austin in 2020 and it has been a place where I've not only worked towards my personal fitness goals, but also developed my knowledge in exercise science. I was originally introduced to APC by a classmate in the same Doctorate of Physical Therapy program where she and APC created an opportunity for other classmates to have access to community, a gym space, and a safe environment to apply our education in exercise! Gray is a master in exercise science and has continually shared is expertise with myself, other students from our program, and the regular members there. APC offers affordable pricing for students, personal training, daily workouts, 24/hr access, and a variety of great gym equipment. Overall a great place, great community, and would recommend to individuals of all ages and fitness levels!!

Amazing gym atmosphere with no egos, everyone from high school athletes to great-grandparents training together during class times, and 24hr-access memberships if you want a place to train on your own.

Gray and his coaches have a huge breadth of knowledge in all things strength and are passionate about helping people stay strong and healthy for life.

I’ve been to many gyms and a variety of trainers. Gray is very hands on and focused on what is right for you which isn’t always just getting as pumped as possible. He’s incredibly knowledgeable and will detail your form relentlessly so you are getting the most out of your workout which is exactly what I want in a coach. The private feel of the gym is a lot nicer than the big box gyms, at least for me.

Gray built a very friendly gym. He is a dedicated and very knowledgeable trainer who can build a personalized, gradually progressing workout plan and test your achievements over time. At 70-something and almost daily visits, I cherish such approach. ATX Alliance Physical Culture brings to life the meaning of “carpe diem”.

This is the best gym I've ever been a part of. Plenty of equipment and I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes or so for a machine. Grey is super knowledgeable and loves to help and has fostered a very inclusive and helpful gym community.

APC is the place where jocks and nerds unite and join forces! I’m a working mom without a traditional athletic background, but I wanted to do a few months of individualized programming to learn the basic barbell lifts. This was the perfect place to do it. Gray has imparted a ton of knowledge about the science of strength training and different approaches, and tailored my programming to my individual needs. I’ve met awesome people in the group classes and enjoyed the flexibility of coming on my own time with 24/7 gym access. This gym has made me feel confident and capable which would not necessarily be the case at all gyms!

I've been coming here for three years and continue to for so many reasons! Gray is an amazing trainer who doesn't push the bad bootcamp reps and exercises. Instead, he focuses on moving and recovering better, which is so crucial as I get older! I've learned so much about my body and movement. It's a small and wonderful community!

I love this gym because of the welcoming environment and how comfortable it is to be there. It has the equipment you need without “gym egos” and teaches you to lift for life and age in a healthy manner. It’s non-intimidating with actual strength equipment. And I have 24 hours access with the Bronze membership!

I have been going to Alliance Physical Culture for over 5 years, and it is simply the best. I am 76 and stronger than I have ever been. It is a warm and welcoming place that respects effort as well as results. Gray Godwin has general and specialized knowledge about exercise and how it affects and benefits the body. He has helped me tremendously with chronic pain and recovery. He trains me as well as the guy who is much younger and can deadlift 450 lbs. We are a diverse group in age and ability which makes the experience even more fun. I highly reccomend Alliance Physical Culture and Gray Godwin (one of the nicest guys on the planet).

I needed a gym and training that can can accommodate my obsession with variety, desire to be independent and have fun without all the typical gym image problems. Since Ive started working out here, Ive been able to do virtually every thing I scheme up and have gotten in the best shape of my life, gained great friends and a sense of community and THERE ARE NO MIRRORS ANYWHERE IN THE GYM! Plus, some of the equipment is human powered so I have fun working out and generating electricity to help keep the lights on:)

I have worked with Gray At Alliance Physical Culture and find him very knowledgable about the human body. I have worked with other trainers and am very hesitant about people's level of training. I find him informed and trustworthy!

The facility is very convenient for me in South Austin.

When searching for trainers please consider this group of folks - they are good people!
