Morning staff is GREAT!!! They always greet everyone and they are so kind. Afternoon staff isnβt as polite and sometimes act like they donβt know what to doβ¦
Also I had my lock AND EVERYTHING IN THE LOCKER REMOVED YESTERDAY, with no explanation. I got to the gym around 6:20 and worked out, got ready to leave and couldnβt find any of my stuff, I was so mad and upset and confusedβ¦ I went to the front desk and they had everything, when I asked for a explanation they just said sorry and my lock fell off? I said no it didnβt, like why did yβall take my lock off and they just said opsβ¦.
Iβve never in my life had that happen to me! Iβve been at this gym for 2 months and Iβm so disappointed with how the staff handled it. Because if my engagement rings or cards were taken, I wouldβve filed a police report because the staff admitted they were the ones who took it to the front. And again for the staff to tell me ops IS WEIRD!

Update: 8/20/25
ATC responded saying they were going to watch more. It hasnβt gotten any better. Last night three kids played around the new workout part of the track upstairs while their mom worked out. Today, I quit my workout after a mom brought her kids who had been having fun swinging on the TRX ropes to do gymnastics on the turf right in front of me.
This isnβt a daycare. Itβs not safe, itβs time to look for a new gym.
Iβve been going to ATC for years. When I started my kids were under 10 and had to either sit or had to be in the kids zone.
In the last year I noticed kids, sometimes like 4 or 5 playing on equipment while their parents workout. This week I worked out probably 5 or 6 days and there was not a single day that I didnβt work out near or next to young kids right now there is a young girl playing on the smith machine type structure like monkey bars. She has weights out, a band, a box and is running back and forth between her mom lifting and playing. Another day this week I had to weight to do the stair climber while a dad let his kids no way they were older than 5 and 7 get through. They then went back and forth from the bikes and treadmills playing for an hour. Another day a mom came in and literally took up 6 treadmills between her and her little kids. Iβve seen someone give their kids a TRX and 3 bossu balls to play on.
I get it! I am a parent and itβs hard. I love that the kids want to exercise, But itβs not safe. Iβve seen machines fall on heads, weights get dropped on people, kids get seriously injured. it makes parents who are near have to worry about the kids getting hurt and it interferes with people trying to get in a legit workout.

Good gym. Not super clean but with so many members it's hard to keep clean during the day. Lots of people all hours. Good equipment and a Pool. One thing is they are not a Silver Sneakers member and therefore, my insurance can't pay my dues. otherwise, good gym

Clean. Friendly staff. I swim and the pool is comfortable and large. They have a smaller pool for water aerobics and the like but I have never used it. They also have a large outdoor pool for the summer. There is a large weight training area, walking track and stationary bicycle facility that I would guess us close to state of the art. Downside is stairs, a few going into dressing rooms and a second story for spin lab, walking path, and ellipticals. There is an elevator. I handle pretty well even though my knees are shot.

I absolutely love this place, but my only complaint is that they donβt have separate guest passes for people from out of town. You have to be accompanied by a member the whole time. Iβm visiting from Houston for a couple days and decided to visit today.
Went with a member and it was only $5! Very good price.
Mainly came here for the pool and it was great! Absolutely love the depth and the amount of lanes to choose from.
I normally lift a lot too, and the selection of machines looks pretty good!
Looks like itβs been recently remodeled too. Itβs very nice inside. Definitely will have to come back when Iβm visiting again. Hopefully they will have separate guest passes (that donβt require a member) eventually? I would pay good money for that!

Well I was looking to get a gym membership at the town club. I called beforehand and asked the lady who answered the phone what I needed to do to get a guest pass. She told me all I needed was to come and bring $10 to get in. So I did exactly that and when I arrived at the front desk I was rudely told that I couldnβt enter without an accompanying member (kind of hard to get when Iβm new to the gym). Which I tried to explain that I had called before hand and no one told me that I needed a member there with me to get into the facility. I find it pretty hard to get a membership at a gym that wonβt even let me try out the gym (with payment Ofcourse for the free trial) or even see what it looks like. Needless to say Iβm taking my business to Verdure. They let me come in and try out the gym for a Fee of $15 and were very nice to me.

Was a loyal member there for 13 yrs until my 14 yr old wanted to start lifting with his dad. They don't allow anyone under 16 on the weight floor. Even with adult supervision. Went down the street to another gym and they were quite accepting to my son and me. Quit on the spot.

I love the gym, been a member for a while now. The staff are great! The locker rooms were just updated. Everything is nice but I'm giving it a 3 star just because the women's locker room doesn't have the same frosted doors on the sauna like the men's. You have zero privacy! EDIT: the response from ATC shows they either aren't listening to what I said or don't care.
Don't bother trying to lap swim here. They have private clubs that reserve half of the pool during peak hours, and the entire pool between 3:30 and 5:30 pm daily on weekdays, and other clubs come in after until 8:30. Plus, they host swim meets here and do the bare minimum of communication around it, so youre SOL if they have a meet. Pretty useless to advertise a lap pool.

READ THIS:
1. Gym area is pretty small.
2. The location on Hillside has a very small room for cross fitness.
3. The main pain is that I got this membership because of the indoor lap pool. However, there are a lot of problems if you want to swim. During the summer they lock the restroom which is next to the pool. So if you have to use a bathroom you basically need to end your training or walk all wet across the gym area. Next, when school starts the swimming team occupies at least 4 out of 8 lanes at the pool. They will kick you out of those lanes if you are not done. I could not even get a recent schedule to clarify exactly when they have their training. Moreover, when I tried to argue about I was told that the pool works on the "first comes first serves" basis, but in reality if swimming team pays more than you then technically you don't count anymore :)
4. Bathrooms are not the cleanest ones.
5. Steam room is mostly dirty because people decide to sit in it fully dressed with their shoes on. As a result everyone has to breath all the bacteria and dirt from their shoe soles.
6. Never try to argue with staff because no one wants to hear you nor help you.
You decide now!
I was waiting to post this for a long time already!

It's a nice gym but in my opinion, not enough of specific equipment or space. For the price it's great, and if you enjoy aquatics then you'll definitely think it's an amazing gym. Plenty of indoor pool area for exercising, and there's a sauna so that's nice if you use it. Really just needs more equipment and space, but that would be hard to manage without a bigger building. Great staff also.

!!The majority of the staff are rude and donβt greet you anymore it used to feel like a second home.!!!
The menβs locker room (Steam room and sauna havenβt worked in two years)
Now the mens locker room has been under construction since December.
!!(Olympic Indoor Pool) If youβre part of the working class and want to use the pool, GOOD LUCK π youβll have to fight over open lanes with high school students ββ¦.
Theyβll say that they only use 4 lanes, but their friends, students or people on other swim teams use the other lanes !!
You will literally see people getting off work wanting to swim lapsβ¦itβs extremely annoying!!! The only time I can go use the pool and know that there might be a lane open is between ( 8:45PM and 10:00pm)
Honestly, I loved this gym at one point !! But I would highly recommend spending a little extra money and go to (Verdure) itβs sad that the staff donβt care about the members anymore!!

Amarillo town club gets five stars. Great variety of equipment. Staff if helpful and polite. Many knowledgeable personal trainers. Facility is very clean. Excelente daycare for the kids. The daycare and its staff are far superior to the other gyms in this area we have tried, this makes it an excellent gym for people in need of childcare while they exercise. Two swimming pools. One outdoors for the kids to enjoy in the summer and one indoor for cardio exercise. Very fair price for all the things you get access to, worth the money.

Never had a issue with anybody or with the staff so no complaints there, I am always greeted and told " have a nice day " when I leave.
The locker rooms/restrooms are kept up pretty good never seen them filthy filthy usually they keep them clean not perfect but you get my point.
People around mind their business and do their thing so never really had issues with anyone, plenty of parking space they keep those pretty well maintained.
Rarely do I use their swimming pools so can't really give my opinion.
The exercise equipment are pretty good nothing too old and plenty to use to get a good work out all around the body.
Over all it is a pretty good gym so highly recommend, but that is my opinion go try it and check it out for yourself.

We've tried several gyms in our area and we are really happy with Town Club. They have two locations here in Amarillo, on on Hillside near 575 Pizza and one behind Harbor Freight on Bell and 45th. Only the Hillside location has a steam room and hot tub so I tend to go there more often. Neither locations are very busy, the staff at both are friendly and both facilities are clean. The location behind Harbor Freight is two story and I usually go upstairs to get my Zone 2 cardio workout in before weights. They have weight machines on both levels so like I said, it never feels crowded and I haven't had to wait for a machine. Their rates just went up $5 per month but I still think it's pretty affordable, considering all they offer. Both locations have outdoor pools that should be opening up at the end of this month (May 2022) but the location behind Harbor Freight also has an Olympic size indoor pool and a smaller pool where you can take kids to play. The big pool is for laps only. I recommend trying them out, there's no contract so you can quit at any time.

I have been going to this gym for years & i have loved it up until recently. I go around 5:30 am - 6:30 am & it has gotten ridiculously busy to where thereβs no equipment or machines. You have to wait to use the machines. The majority of my workout this morning i was standing waiting for availability. I even had another man rudely ask me to move this morning because i was βin his wayβ and i was standing away from the equipment and where he was working out. The cable machines were completely full.. there werenβt any available dumbbells unless youβre using the 2.5 lbs. Thereβs no personal space.. barley any room to workout. Itβs just gotten crazy. I would rather pay for a more expensive gym for more personal space and equipment availability.

Amarillo Town Club Sunday Closure Policy
Iβve recently learned that, according to Doug Jesko, the general manager of Amarillo Town Club, the gym is officially closed on Sundays and will remain closed as a general policy. While changes in operational hours to accommodate sanitation crews is certainly a reasonable update to policy in a pandemic, this is a rather radical change, and stands out as the exception to the rule in the landscape of West Texas gyms. Among the nearly twenty distinct gym franchises in the Amarillo city limits, the Amarillo Town Club is the only gym closed on Sundays.
Recently, however, the logic for the closure has changed from a reaction to the pandemic to a religious accommodation. For those who donβt know, Amarillo Town Club is owned and operated by Baptist Community Services, and the policy is now being explained as a Christian family stance. This is somewhat admirable, but it completely disregards the wants and needs of itβs paying members.
Also, as an important note, this decision is financially glaring. While the overhead may be lowered for the two gym locations by not being open that extra day, those savings are not being translated to the gym members in any way (aside from added inconvenience). Amarillo Town Club is incredibly popular among working people, and particularly working families, and not having a gym open during their very narrow window of free time is a glaring weakness in such a small city that gets more and more fitness facilities every year. This policy also affects parents taking their children to the pool in the summer. Obviously, Sundays are one of the few days families can do something collectively.
I say all of this because I genuinely love the Amarillo Town Club. Iβve been going here for years, but this policy is so detrimental to the people that pay membership dues month after month. Iβm sure, like myself, many people feel forced to make a better choice for their dues, their schedules, and their lives, and I feel this will negatively impact what truly has been an outstanding part of the Amarillo community.
Steve Dalrymple is the President and CEO of Baptist Community Services, and maybe he can still be persuaded that this should be a temporary solution to a temporary problem, before they lose too much to be able to stand up to their growing competition. If you want to see the Town Club continue to succeed and provide for its members to the level of service that is expected in Amarillo, Texas, I highly encourage you guys to reach out to Mr. Dalrymple and Baptist Community Services.

Mark Gonzales
