This place is the cats pijamas. Super approachable crew for anyone whether you’ve been doing it for years or just wanted to try something new, like me. This is not some corporate cardio boxing gym, these guys are serious about training and can take you as far as you want to go.

Excellent place to come train Muay Thai, whether you’re a beginner or looking to compete this gym caters to all skill levels. Knowledgeable coaches and friendly environment, I would highly recommend to check out Ambush if you’re on the fence of joining a striking sport.

NOT TRADITIONAL more like thai kickboxing

NO CONSISTENT PADWORK SO YOU WILL NOT PROGRESS LIKE YOU SHOULD!!

NO TECHNIQUE just “combos”

And they force you to buy a “uniform”…

Amazing culture, and talent. There's a place for everyone from the novice to the highly skilled technical fighter. I have trained in a lot of academies and I truly look forward to my next class each week. Something to learn every day. They take it to a new level. I was looking for a specific culture and I found it with Team Ambush. So Grateful. 🙏

I was down in San Antonio for a week for business and I dropped in to train for a few days. Mikey, the coach, was so incredibly friendly and helpful, as were the other students. The place has a great vibe to it - no “gym bro” attitude at all, just a warm, welcoming environment. The facility is also top notch, clean, and well maintained. If you’re in town, or if you’re a local, this is the place to go. Five stars all the way!

I stopped in while I was in town for work. The coaches were really cool and everybody was friendly and chill. I really enjoyed working out with their stable for a few days and hope to make it back next time I visit San Antonio. They got some badass swag too.

I have been to 5 classes so far and I am really enjoying them. The atmosphere is friendly and respectful. The gym has good hygiene and has a water fountain inside. The coaches are patient and will gladly, with enthusiasm will show proper form and technique. In my opinion, this is a great option for beginners, intermediate, and advanced trainee’s.

I can not recommend Ambush enough, from day 1 you’re treated like a life long member. The very first person to chat it up with me on my first day was the current WBC national champion and he treated me like we had been friends for years and that is a perfect reflection of the atmosphere of the gym and the athletes bred there. No ego’s, no negative energy just a group of people lifting each other up every day pushing each other to work hard and be the best version of ourselves we can be. Wether you want to compete, lose weight or find discipline and routine, Ambush provides you a family that will support and push you to achieve any goal and you’ll always be welcomed with open arms.

I visited San Antonio from out of town and had the opportunity to drop-in for two classes. Such a good gym! The community seemed strong and supportive, and the gym seemed like it would be a good choice for anyone. It seemed like it catered to first-timers just as easily as it catered to fighters. If I'm in the area again, I'll definitely be dropping by!

Overall this seems like a very good gym with coaches that are both patient & knowledgable, however there is most definitely a space issue here at night for adult beginner classes. The coaches really try their best & navigate that issue quite well. The people attending the class were also awesome, very friendly & supportive. Overall great training environment & coaches seem to genuinely care & most definitely have the experience & skillset to teach effectively

My main issue with this facility is the “sales reps” (I guess thats what you call them?). The experience we had with this side of Ambush was not very good unfortunately. They are extremely slow to respond to interest in joining & getting your questions answered. There were 3 packages we saw at the actual gym that had staggered pricing for different membership options based on # of visits per month (9 sessions, 13, or unlimited).. that was fine & made sense but it didn’t include pricing for a family of 3.. Anyway when the sales rep “Mike” finally got back to us (over 2 weeks later) we learned these 3 different package levels don’t apply for some reason for a family of 3 & the difference in price between 9 sessions a month & unlimited sessions per month is ridiculously nominal. Since my husband & I are both veterans we hoped there may be a veterans discount, or at least a decent family of 3 discount, but there just weren’t any offered. Perhaps they just don’t want to add more members at this time due to the lack of space as is? Not sure.. it was unfortunate because we really liked the place overall.

Anyway facility itself gets 4 stars (a little small), coaches, class itself & atmosphere get a solid 5 stars, but sales team gets 2 stars, which definitely drags their average down IMHO. If you are a single person or a family of two looking to join they have some sensible options to offer you. They even have a great unlimited option for a family of 4! Just don’t be a family of 3 or you are SOL 😂

***updated review*** I have officially been a member of this gym for 1 year as of may 1st 2023 and I still feel the same way I did as last year when I first posted my review! I have made even more friends that feel like family! This gym has pushed me out of my comfort zone for the better and I've never been more grateful for this team of amazing fighters and coaches!

**Original post**
have been doing Muay Thai for a few years at different gyms in San Antonio. I started at ambush when I moved to the stone oak area in 2022. I have never met such an amazing group of coaches and teachers who motivate me to come almost everyday. I love each and every coach I have ever worked with! They have all made me better in my practice of the art of Muay Thai. The people I meet here everyday are very passionate about what they do and you feel it when you walk into this gym. 100/10 highly recommend to all. I made life long friends here and I’m always going to be grateful for this place and the ones I meet here 🥰

I have learned a lot about the sport of Muay Thai and have fallen in love with it. This is the place for you whether you are a beginner or a veteran in this sport.

Ambush Muay Thai is a place where any skill level is welcomed and encouraged. The coaches do an amazing job of checking your technique as well as your comfort, to enable advancement to the next skill level. Of which, the different levels of training offered here makes the world of martial arts feel much more “user-friendly” in that there are clear “next steps” to take. Additionally, they offer nice gear for the students to equip. Ranging in a variety of sizes; shirts, tanks, shorts, gloves, pads, wraps, and more. Normally I wouldn’t mention add-ons as a bonus, however the gyms designs and stylistic decisions are as fine as their skills. I couldn’t be happier with my gym choice and look forward for years to come.

Joined this gym about a year ago and have been completely stoked by the decision! Head coach Bobby has created a group of amazing coaches like the 2 Mike’s, Bob-O and Anastacia. The classes are always full but there is always coaches helping to correct a technique or help. Love that they have so many class options as well as my schedule fluctuates from week to week and they have a schedule where I can get my workouts in daily!

Long and over due review!!! Where to start? The atmosphere is great from the coaches to the fighters to the individuals looking to just stay fit! YOU WILL LEARN SOMETHING NEW EVERY DAY. Won't drop names but I've seen one of the coaches come go from just been an enthusiast to a Knowledgeable coach to now an official that refs!!! Dude is a great inspiration!!! Mauy thai has so many opportunities if you apply your self!! And Ambushed Mauy thai is the place to do so!!! Nothing but the best San Antonio can offer and if you been following them, we can all agree that they are the best in Texas!!! The fighters aren't just for show either they care and will brake down technic for those individuals ( such as my self ) that require just a little more detail orienteded demostrasion. Your gonna walk in feeling intimidated or out of place but you will walk out feeling part of a family, a team and with confidence!!! Give it a try! The coaches offer a free intro class and depending on the day of the week you go in the intensity factor will be high ( Thursdays are usually my favorite as I got to be humble by other enthusiast ) my favorite experience was learning how to use pads from a trainee!!! Yes you read that righ you'll learn something new from every individual that attends Ambush mauy thai!!! Just come with an open mind an a can do and will do attitude!!! Can't wait to go back!!!

Ambush Muay Thai has welcomed me with open arms, no ego here just a bunch of QUALITY people who enjoy training. I have several years experience (8+) I've traveled up and down the east coast, Thailand, Middle East, and Europe training. The quality of instruction here is for sure in the top of my list.
If you want to fight, this is a fight gym with skilled fighters!! but if you don't want to compete, this is a place that will teach you real world self defense skills in a friendly atmosphere. I would recommend Ambush to parents who want their teens to learn self defense, to women who want to stand their ground against a threat, to anyone who wants to compete and climb the ranks. This is a Quality gym no doubt about it!

I just enrolled my 10 year old son and his attitude improved within the week- if it were up to him, he’d wear his uniform ALL DAY, EVERYDAY! This pandemic dimmed his uplifting spirit but joining this gym has done wonders... I appreciate the instructors for everything they do with our young ones! Keep up the great work!

Coaches and team are really welcoming to newcomers (like myself), but there are also groups of more advanced members and fighters if that's your skill level. Awesome place I love it here.

The first thing I noticed when I started at Ambush is the sense of camaraderie. The gym is very family-friendly, and even offers kids’ classes.

The coaches are very professional, knowledgeable, and are attentive to all levels of Muay Thai. No two classes are the same so the workouts and drills never get repetitive or boring. Whether you want to train professionally, for fitness, or for fun, Ambush makes the art of Muay Thai accessible for everyone.

Fantastic atmosphere. I have seen many gyms over the years and this is one of the few that not only has a population with a myriad of skill levels from begginer to professional - but also maintains a welcoming and open enviroment to anyone who walks in the doors.

Past history of training aside, if you want to better yourself - I would recommend this facility and staff to anyone in the area. Local gem of a gym right here.

Ambush Muay Thai is life changing honestly! I went to try their free day trial just for a workout but actually learned a lot on my first day! I have always loved the art of Muay Thai but never thought I would be joining a gym to commit myself in learning this craft. The staff and owner are very friendly and welcoming and not to mentioned very knowledgeable and experienced. Their gym is always clean and organized. If you’re reading this and you want to try it out but have doubts, Just show up for their trail session (if available) and give it a shot! You’ll want more after you’re done, I know I tried it and signed up the same day!

Ambush Muay Thai is a great gym for people of all skill levels. Whether you're training for an amateur fight, or just wanting to learn a new skill and stay in shape, the coaches at Ambush will work with you and help you achieve your goals.
There are many different classes to choose from and you can train every day of the week if you wanted to, which I think is great.
Bobby is a terrific gym owner and he and his coaching staff go out of their way to make sure that you feel welcome and that you are staying up to speed skills wise.
I'd recommend this gym to anyone looking to learn solid Muay Thai fundamentals while in a tight-knit, community oriented environment.
The Ambush gear and apparel are also awesome too!

My daughter has trained with Coach Bobby for years, beginning when he was working out of another gym in town that focused on ju jitsu. The gym was simply a large open area, and the noise and activity of those kids while trying to train Muay Thai alongside was very distracting. Since Bobby opened Ambush on Blanco Rd that problem has disappeared. Great location, new paint, mats and bags, the best of focused MT instruction — and no issues with parking. The training itself is all-encompassing, including all skill/experience levels, for kids, teens, and adults of all shapes and sizes.
My highest recommendation.

I’ve been training at Ambush since before they settled at their Blanco location, even through all the transition Bobby was very attentive to all newcomers. Coaches are knowledgeable, dedicated to their students and keep the environment family oriented. Classes for all levels, gym stays clean and they’re always carrying training gear/apparel for anyone interested. Definitely the best Muau Thai gym out of 210 area.

I've been training muay thai for ~4 years and I've been at Ambush for about 5 months. Ambush is absolutely the best place for muay thai in San Antonio. The coaches put an emphasis on clinching that I've found to be missing from some gyms. They never pressure you to take a fight but are very supportive if you decide to. If you are a girl looking to try muay thai for the first time (do it!), it might seem intimidating to join a gym of mostly men but the guys at Ambush never make me feel unwelcome or uncomfortable.
Also they don't lock you into long contracts and there's no unnecessary "registration fee" that you might see at other gyms. Their focus is 100% on the training, not getting your money.

Let me tell you, if you’re thinking about joining Ambush just do it. Don’t wait. I’ve been at Ambush Muay Thai SA for around 5 months and absolutely love it. I have been training pure jiu jitsu for the past 11 years and didn’t know how to throw a punch until I started training under Bobby Peek. His instruction is second to none and world class. He’s patient and very attentive with his students, as are all of his coaches. The classes are exciting, the progression is real and the atmosphere is a positive learning environment. Excellent academy!!!

Excellent place to train Muay Thai! Bobby and his staff are professional, strict, but friendly. Great workout and an awesome place to train for kids, beginners or an experienced MT fighter. The academy is always clean and Bobby continues to make improvements to the school. Numerous amount of classes throughout the day, so don’t use that as an excuse. You will not regret training at Ambush Muay Thai! ALSO, NO CONTRACTS!

I joined Ambush Muay Thai in January, since then I have learned a lot with the help of the best coaches and staff, Bobby Peek, Peter Stanonik, Mike as well as everybody else, they are very helpful and nice. I’m not a professional nor amateur and training around his amazing peers is a very good experience. There are classes for begginers were they teach foundations and basic moves that are extremely helpful even if you are more advance. If you want to be a professional, amateour or just for fitness this place is the best. They treat you like family, love the place.

truly an amazing place to train. Coach Bobby is one of the best coaches out there and truly teaches the martial art in its purity. The environment is also extremely positive. At first it may seem intimidating for the gym has A LOT of talented and strong people however, you will find that as long as you have a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and embrace all virtues of a martial artist then everyone will cling to you and everyone will come together to become better. Regardless of your goals whether its to lose weight, learn a martial art, become a fighter or you just want to belong somewhere with like-minded people I would strongly recommend you come by

Been training Muay Thai since at least 2003. I've trained in a number of different states (in the US) as well as having trained in Thailand for a short period. Tried out a number of the gyms in town, but this is my favorite by far. The team environment is second to none. The head coach is very attentive to detail and is actively engaged with everyone during class. The facilities are clean and the equipment is in good condition (not falling apart). There's nowhere else in San Antonio that you're going to be able to train with this many professional Muay Thai/kickboxing fighters. The program isn't just for fighters either, as there are many hobbyists and people just looking to get in shape. I bring my kids to the kids class too. I'm really enjoying being able to train in such a great atmosphere, with friendly people, and receiving detailed, authentic instruction.

My two daughters (12 & 9) have been training with Bobby and the rest of his coaching staff for a little over a year now. The atmosphere is very welcoming and respectful, that my 17 year old son also joined the program. Bobby and his team have taught my children a lot about Muay Thai but most importantly he taught them dedication and accountability. I would definitely recommend anyone who is new to Muay Thai, getting back into it, or wanting to advance to come check out Bobby and his team.
