I was a regular member at this gym and was recently locked out even though my account was fully paid and in good standing. Later, I was told I’d been banned along with two other members over an accusation of stolen hand soap. The only “evidence” they claim to have is that I appear on the timelapse footage around the same time the soap went missing — nothing showing me actually taking anything.

The way management handled the situation was disappointing and unprofessional. Instead of communicating directly or investigating properly, they chose to assume and ban loyal members. Corporate couldn’t help since this is a franchise. I’m sharing this so others understand how management handles issues here.

This was the email I received from this exact location address listed in the photo. Telling me about my free day pass I drive 25 minutes to the gym for them to tell me they don’t do that. Each gym is owned individually and that it states that on their website? Very confused at why they send automated emails, it did not state very clearly or visibly on the website that they don’t do this just a heads up for anyone trying to use a first time free pass you’ll have to pay $200 to work out here (membership fee/key fob fee). End of story. Not a great experience considering it could’ve been easily avoidable by not sending emails promoting something you dont offer…friendly staff if you are to join the gym.

I've gone to at least 15 different Anytime Fitness centers while traveling; including locations in California, Tyler, Dallas, Arizona, Amarillo, & New Mexico. The Gun Barrel City location is the cleanest, largest, and has the most equipment and most up to date equipment than any other location that I've been to. And they have the roomiest nicest, clean showers with large counter sink areas. Yes, the staff isn't usually there until 3pm, but that has been my experience at other locations too.

After careful examination of reviews and using their free test day, this is not a good gym, they overcharge and I have three neighbors who all testify being charged after they had already cancelled their memberships, honestly I would sue if I had the money. I recommend golds gym for a serious gym or just buy your own equipment, it's cheaper

I endorsed what the plaid dad and Michael Smith said. After you close the contract, they put 300 on your credit card. And if you blocked after the first time, they came with scammers to charge more 320... if I had the time I sue this guy.

The water fountain and vending machines need to be updated please! Can we get that wall mounted water bottle water dispenser like all the other anytime fitnesses? Literally all the other gyms in the area have one including but not limited to: Athens, Canton, Chandler, and Tyler! Also the vending machines only take cash? It’s the year of our lord 2024. Time to move on, and get one with at least a card reader. Chandler Anytime has a literal coffee bar! Okay I’m done.

Good equipment, bucky is a really good guy, really friendly and is cooperative, its very clean and everyone here is respectful and gives great advice. Its the 2nd largest anytime fitness in the world give it a try for at least a month consistantly, you wont regret it!

I paid this GYM to not have to go to Corsicana at Planet Fitness, (yes, you read that right) but the way they treat me, oh boy. Abusive overcharges and horrible/inexistant customer support.

There is no zero to rate here so a one will have to do. If you are looking for a gym….DO NOT USE THIS GYM. I signed o for a 3 month membership and the they will keep charging you and charging you. Call the owners everyday for a month with no return phone call. They are absolutely crooks. We we having to send a certified letter and the people at the post office started laughing at us and said good luck and they were right…they never answer them. Although this place is clean, I highly recommend giving your money to a different club! The manager there was very abrasive and not welcoming to members from other locations. This location does not follow the Anytime Fitness model. It might as well be called Barbie and Tim's gym. They do not follow protocol for transferring memberships. They do not return phone calls, even after the corporate office asks them to call me. They also block members for no reason. Please read all reviews before making this your home gym..

Beware of unethical business practices and HORRIBLE customer service at this location. We recently moved to the area and as members of the Anytime Fitness gym we have access to all locations worldwide. We used This gym on a few occasions while getting settled into our new home, we also visited the Canton location and had decided to make that our regular location. I received a voicemail from Barbie's husband Tim (owners of the Gun Barrel City location) that they would be transferring me to their location and raising my dues by more than $10.00 per month. This was done against the terms of the contract which states if you use a certain location more than others for a period of 60 days then the gym may move you to their location. We only used them for less than 30 days. Upon speaking to other Anytime locations I was informed that the Gun Barrel location did not have to raise my rate and it "was not automatically done by the system" as the "manager" Darion stated when I called. After I received the initial voicemail it took me several days of calling repeatedly and leaving voicemails to finally get someone to answer the phone. The person that answered was Darion and she was rude, argumentive and would not let me finish a sentence without interrupting when I tried to explain what happened and that it was against the contract I signed originally. She said that I can either pay their dues and be a member of that particular location or I would be blocked and banned. The business model at this location is basically all about the money and zero customer service. No one will answer your calls and you will have to hunt someone down to try to get a membership... Just read the other reviews. The Gun Barrel location sucks, plain and simple! The Canton location is the place to go and they won't raise your rate without speaking to you first to transfer in. Hey Barbie, get some training for your so called "manager" because she is awful and has no people skills..

Be very careful. I signed my oldest son up for a membership here and he canceled after a few months. I looked at my bank statement, and noticed they were still taking the membership fees out almost 4 months after canceling! I called ABC financial to notify them that I had canceled via text messages, and the man absolutely refused to refund my money! I ended up having to go to my Bank and showing them proof that I canceled. Luckily, I was refunded all 3 months back into my account! I saved both conversations. I spoke with Morgan via text messages, and when I told her I wanted my money she ghosted me. Go somewhere else. I do not reccomend this gym. anyone who knowingly does this should not be to run a business. Judging by the reviews, I'm not their first victim

Love this place they have a great circuit training system. They have ropes for climbing balls and weights whatever you need to get fit with. They even have a back room with a kiosk for classes. This place is awesome they also have tanning beds it's a very clean professional workout environment love it!!!

Horrible... I visited the gym.. trained there a couple of days.. me and come to find out the owner were the only ones in the gym.. this guy is a trip.. I've been training most of my life.. i asked this guy if he would spot me.. first he looked at me as if i wasn't human.. his response "not really man... I don't like to stop my workouts"... haha what a trip.. never has anyone ever said no to helping someone out .. This is a nice Gym, and the staff was very friendly. Now all things considered, I have found it very difficult to get out of their billing system since I have moved from the area. I have received different stories from the billing company and the gym each putting it off on the other one. I have sent written cancellations and emails and apparently it worked for one either my wife's or mine, but I am still getting charged months after the fact and was assured by a gym staff member that it was all taken care of. It would be nice to get reimbursed for their screw up as this membership was pretty pricy for a couple.

I had rather be able to pay out right for my memberships to anything, billing seems like a mail order magazine scam, easy to get into, but you have hell getting out of it!

Largest selection of free weights, cardio, and equipment around. Personal Training is top-notch by great trainers.
