This location has been a blessing to us and our kiddos swim journey. We love coach Jensen and coach Savannah! You have to understand the coaches all evaluate differently and will provide different feedback, and your kiddos progress may be slow. It’s okay. They will learn water safety and comfortability along the way. Be prepared to remember these are kids teaching younger kids so schedules change and life happens. The front desk does a pretty great job letting you know before your class if there will be a coaching change.

We have had such a great experience with AquaTots! We have two kids, ages 4 & 6 and they have progressed from not wanting to put any part of their faces in the water to being able to independent freestyle with side breaths, float, backstroke, and my older kid is currently progressing with her breaststroke. Over the 5 months that we’ve been there, we have had some of the best instructors; Jensen, Erianna, J’Kahla, Jaida, Braden, Savannah, Ainsley and Sara. Also, all of the ladies at the desk have been so helpful, kind and encouraging.. The coaches all have taken such great care of our kids and have shown great patience with them. I would highly recommend bringing your kiddos here! It was tough at first, but it has been worth every penny we have spent. My kid’s confidence in the water has gone up and they are so proud of themselves. We could not thank all of them enough for what this means to us!

After a year and a few months after my toddler started attending Aqua Tots, I am happy to see him enjoying water and feeling comfortable in the water. Definitely confident. He has been attending just once a week. Looking forward to increase the frequency per week to twice a week in the upcoming months as he loves swimming and I can see progress for his age. Staff and coaches are fantastic. They make it a good experience for the kids and are helpful and tailor their lessons to their age and needed skill.

Avoid at All Costs – This Place is a Disaster

This is by far the worst experience I’ve ever had with any swim school. Aqua-Tots Swim School Central McKinney is a complete mess, and I deeply regret enrolling here.

The so-called “trainers” are shockingly unqualified — they looked like they were just thrown into the pool with zero preparation or skill. My child came out more confused and anxious after every session. It’s terrifying to think that these people are trusted with kids’ safety around water.

And if you think the trainers are bad, wait until you deal with the supervisor. Rude, arrogant, and completely indifferent to genuine concerns. Rather than listening to feedback or trying to help, they acted like we were bothering them. Zero accountability. Zero professionalism. It felt like no one cared.

This place is all about taking your money, not actually teaching your kids how to swim. It’s unsafe, it’s poorly run, and frankly, it shouldn’t even be in business.

Parents: if you value your child’s safety, time, and well-being, stay far away from this place.

Extremely Disappointed – Poor Trainers and Unprofessional Supervision

I had a very disappointing experience at Aqua-Tots Swim School Central McKinney. The trainers handling the lessons were clearly inexperienced and lacked the skills needed to teach young kids effectively or safely. It felt like they were still learning themselves, which is completely unacceptable when dealing with children in water.

Even worse, when I raised my concerns, the supervisor was unhelpful, dismissive, and came across as completely unprofessional. Instead of addressing the issues, they seemed more interested in defending their broken system than actually listening or making improvements.

I expected a safe, supportive environment for learning, but this location failed on all fronts. I cannot recommend this place to any parent who values quality instruction and responsible management. Definitely not worth the money or the risk.

The trainings and swimming lessons are really good at this swim school. The problems that I have is with maintenance of the center. The hooks inside the changing closet is broken, the cloth dryer/ringer is also broken, And few other cosmetic things. I’ve been asking the management to fix those things and complaint to the front office desk multiple times and they all fallen on deaf fears. I’d really appreciate if those things are fixed so that it won’t be a trouble to the parents.

Our overall experience was amazing, so thankful to coach Aly, who focuses on each kid skill level and focus more on what they are behind. It always felt like she loved what she was doing. At times, it's like Aly creating a comfort zone for the kids and enjoy the moments with them like a parent would do.

The facility is located in a prime area and is always busy.

The only reason for giving a 4 star was because of some disappointment with a ew coaches who don't focus well on the individual kid skillset and sometimes doesn't even care to give a feedback.

I've had my daughter enrolled at Aqua-Tots for 2 years and decided to cancel after multiple negative experiences (lack of consistency with coaches, random timing changes, cancelations, etc.) I am livid after hearing that they don't give a grace period to use make-up classes. They have a $20/month membership to use only 2 makeup classes per month. They're literally stealing money out of your pockets. These make-up classes have already been paid for. The decent thing to do would be to give at least 2 to 3 weeks to use them up. Also, to my surprise, they're claiming that I signed a waiver with their new make-up policy in May 2023. I have no record of signing such a document and they're unable to provide me a pdf copy of the signed waiver on their end as well. Please look at alternative options before signing your child up at this school.

I feel like 5 stars doesn’t do enough justice because of how good our experience has been with Aqua-Tots. Every single employee we have dealt with has been knowledgeable, patient and kind. Our daughter started out with LOTS of tears…to the point that I wanted to quit coming because it was an hour of crying beforehand with her being so scared. This same child has been now BEGGING to go to swim lessons. Katie is an ANGEL who encouraged us along the way going out of her way to spend time with our daughter, help her calm down and foster a sense of security. Coach Eri has been another standout with his patience and calm, supportive demeanor. Highly recommend!

Looks like again this McKinney aqua tots became bad.. there are lots of make up classes not scheduled when coaches not available and system show to do new enrollment … front desk people are not able to understand the issue… they say no classes that’s and IDK for any questions. we had lot issues on my son’s promotion to next level… they took almost… 1 year to promote next level… this is also I escalated to area manager.. my son had special permission to have private lessons… suddenly this center did not schedule his classes… now again they for got the agreement… also the acting manager SHERA does it talking like does not have any sense… I complaint about her so many times… and she is not suitable for any job in this aqua tots … she does anything

Very bad policies with only intention to loot people. They want to charge me though we are going on vacation and wouldn’t allow to use the make up classes until I make payment for the period while I’m not in USA.
They want me to still make payment during my vacation, add the unused classes to make ups. Then they wouldn’t let use the make ups. Got to enroll back in order to use the make ups. They just want to keep people always enrolled And keep paying them.
They don’t want to refund for the make ups or let you use the make ups.

We have been here with Aqua tots from past one year and initially we started with good coaches (but the random/frequent changes in the coaches even after complaining them number of times , is always a problem here).

But what has made me dropping my son out from here is the quality of class with the new untrained coaches that has been getting worse over past months now.

Updated July22/2023: We re-joined my kid in level-3 Leap frog on April /2022. It has been over an year with 2 months break like 6 months back, my kid is still in the same level as of July 22/2023. They are not good at updating skill chart so you will end up paying for same classes for months. Our instructors keep changing like every class a new instructor from past 6 months. If I have other swim schools near my area I would have moved my kid from this school. Very disappointing, I don’t recommend this place if you have other choices.

Absolutely love this place. My daughter has been swimming for 10 months now and we have worked with multiple instructors. They are all amazing! My daughter is on Level 2 and we are currently doing our lessons with Coach Payton B. and I can honestly say we’ve noticed the most improvement with him. She’s 3 and while I was confident that she was water safe, I knew she didn’t know how to swim proper strokes, so we looked to enroll her at aqua tots. After one session, we already saw improvement. My both kids are attending this swimming school. The front desk staff are always amazing and helpful. My daughter was so anxious and very dependent on the coach while in the pool, but now she is so confident and happy to be in water. And I have to say that all the credit goes back to Coach Sarah J., she is the one who worked really hard with her, was very patient, my daughter loves her teaching a lot. For my son, Coach Bellinda have always been beyond amazing, with her unique ways of handling her students in a very professional yet friendly attitude. My son learnt a lot from her throughout his levels progress. And finally, Thanks to the manager H. Waldron. for managing this place. strongly recommended place.

Instructors are phenomenal! They are so incredibly patient, kind, and have very effective teaching methods. I have been impressed with every instructor here that my children have worked with, but Atiana U. and Payton E. have been two of their most favorite coaches! My girls' progressions with them have been incredible.
The front desk employees are very friendly and helpful. They are always smiling and make us feel very welcome every single time we come in.
I also really appreciate the technology they use here with the feedback and the flexibility of scheduling the make up classes online.

The Aqua-Tots website has statements like "world-class swimming" institution, "you're OUR family," we have "flexible schedules and make-up lessons," mentioned throughout, yet Aqua-Tots unfortunately failed to live up to these expectations throughout our journey with them and our 3-year-old toddler.

Our toddler is deathly afraid of the water, and a "world-class swimming" institution should understand that being afraid of the water is a perfectly normal thing. A world-class institution should also understand how important it is to be patient with their students, and not to push too hard. However, Aqua-Tots did not show that they understood this when it came to our son. Our son attended class for 3 weeks, each time crying throughout the 30-minute class. Each Saturday, it was a major event to try to convince our toddler to put on his swimsuit and go to his swimming lessons. He even stopped enjoying bath time, which is something he deeply loved in the past. So, on the 4th week of swimming lessons, we made the decision to post-pone lessons until the following year so that we didn't push our son too hard.

We called Aqua-Tots multiple times to explain this, but with every employee and manager we spoke with, we were fed the same generic speech about how they require a 30-day notice as part of their cancellation policy. We ended up having to pay for 1 full month of lessons ($104) that we weren't even able to use. It's unreasonable to expect anyone - not just a kid - to be able to plan ahead 30 days in advance and decide they no longer want to do swimming lessons. This isn't simply a piano or karate class that you want to quit because you get bored with it - this is an activity that some individuals have a true fear of, and therefore cannot be expected to plan ahead. Forcing us as parents to make the decision to either lose $104 or push our kids too hard to continue with lessons in no way makes me feel like you're treating me like family. It in no way makes me feel that you're a world-class institution who truly understands how delicate swimming as an activity can be.

On top of this, the employees did not put my cancellation request into their system until 2 weeks after I called. Because of this, I was charged a 2nd month, and I had to speak to multiple employees/managers in order to convince them that crediting me back for this 2nd month was the right thing to do.

At the risk of sounding cliché, this company is clearly nothing but a money grabbing scheme. I would not recommend them to any family or friends, and I will most definitely not be trying again in a year with my own family despite having 1 month credit on my account.

This place is amazing. I can’t recommend it enough. The instructors really do care about each and everyone of their students. One time my little one was having a rough day and not wanting to do her normal favorite thing diving to the bottom. Two of her previous instructors noticed and both jumped in the water to give her encouragement and dive to the bottom with her to make sure she had the best time possible. It’s those little things that really make this place stand out.

My son has been attending Aqua-Tots for about 3 years now and he absolutely loves it! The instructors are amazing. They hone in on whatever he's struggling with and push him to do better. He just moved to Level 5 and already has his sights on joining the swim club. I definitely recommend Aqua-Tots to teach your kids how to swim.

Have been bringing my now three year old and 1.5 year old for a year now, I wish that the classes were smaller so that each kid would get more instruction time. I also feel that the facility used to be overall cleaner but I feel it’s been lacking a bit lately. I wish that instructors focused on pushing students a bit more so they could master their skills. I do like the class make up system.

My kids (3.5 age level 3 and 10 months level 1) have been attending lessons here for 3 months now. They both absolutely love it. The smiles on their faces and the skills that they learn are wonderful to watch. The staff are incredibly helpful and personable to them. This location is amazingly clean as well. Incredibly slow progress as you would expect from a school that financially benefits from keeping your kid in classes as long as possible. There were skills my son had clearly mastered that continued to be repeated and were never counted as learned on his training card. It was apparent after 4 or 5 classes that the goal is to keep your kid in class, not to teach them quickly.

It's also inefficient from a time perspective. A 30 minute class has about 27 minutes of instruction and an average of just over 3 kids. That's less than 9 minutes per kid per session but it takes 30 minutes + drive time. A private lesson is a 1:1 ratio of time to instruction. In the long run, private lessons were actually about 30-50% cheaper and your child will learn much faster because of those time inefficiencies.

Then if you add in the 30 day cancelation policy, the value gets worse. If you have access to another pool or swim school that focuses on development over revenue, I strongly suggest going that route.

The only reason I would recommend this school is if you have a kid that needs to learn in the presence of other kids. It does help some to see other kids going under water. But when they are comfortable learning...the value is gone.

When signing up, make sure to read the forms they give you. I was told they were just waivers, so I skimmed and signed. No one explained anything to me upon sign up OR CANCELLATION. Went to cancel my daughter's account before the billing cycle ended, and was told I wasn't going to be charged. Next billing cycle comes around and I was charged for the next month. A month I didn't want and honestly couldn't afford. Called to get a refund, and was told that I needed to give them 30 days notice of cancellation and that nothing could be done other than giving my daughter more makeup lessons on her account.
RIDICULOUS POLICY. Terrible customer service.

We've only attended one class so far. My 2 year old beginner is in Level 2 based on her age. My 4 year old will be in Level 3 for his first class. I am looking forward to seeing them improve and move into higher levels. We were happily splashing and singing songs to encourage our babies to jump into the water. Such a happy and encouraging atmosphere!
