Ashtanga Yoga Austin provides the sacred space I've been searching for since moving here two years ago. Priya is highly intentional about the room's energy and values the conventional Mysore Practice while showing compassion and grace. Both Priya and Catherine are highly experienced practitioners who create a safe space for all levels to grow.

I've been a student at Ashtanga Yoga Austin since they opened and love the practice and the community Priya has cultivated! I feel gently guided in my practice by the teachers and appreciate how as my needs and energy level evolves over time the practice and guidance has evolved as well. It's a gentle "dance" between teacher and student that Priya and her assistants navigate with grace.

Great studio here, it really has changed the way I see yoga and deepened my breathing. Priya is all at once strong, gentle, intelligent and extremely dedicated and experienced as a teacher. Thank you!

I couldnt be more grateful for AYA and to Priya who runs this beautiful shala. I joined AYA after moving from NY and was looking for a home where I could continue my practice. I was out of practice for sometime and worried how and where to start - Priya guided me through all my fears, gave me the perfect adjustments and went out of the way to accommodate my crazy schedules so I could practice and get home in time to do the school run and get to my work.
She is organized, committed to the shala and its students, and balances this traditional practice against the demands of modern life. There is something truly magical about the energy she brings as she guides her students each day - don't miss an opportunity to practice here and feel the magic

I joined AYA in 2016 and it's been my only yoga home since. Priya and her team over the years (Erin, Ashley, Catherine!) have cultivated a safe, patient, and caring space to practice. They continually do such a wonderful job of welcoming people of all ages, cultures, races, experience levels, etc. to the shala and supporting them on a personalized level. I never feel judged by the instructors or the other students. I always feel welcome and accepted by everyone. And it's fun! We take time outside of practice to bond as a community, and it's through AYA that I was able to practice & build further community with some Ashtanga pros, like Eddie Stern, David Swenson, and Angela Jamison. If you're looking to take your yoga practice to the next level in an unbelievably magical space, this is it!

I found Priya, AYA, and her beautiful family at a time in my life when I needed something steady and grounding. I practiced in the shala as a total beginner to Ashtanga yoga and moved slowly through the series, never feeling rushed or judged for my ability. We had difficult conversations about Ashtanga and were encouraged to be open about our feelings toward its controversies. This never interfered with our ability to practice in a safe and supported environment. I no longer practice Ashtanga or with AYA, but it has nothing to do with the shala, the owner, or the community. In fact, I would return in a heartbeat if circumstances allowed.

I consider myself lucky to have had the opportunity to practice yoga with Priya and other instructors at AYA. The devotion, support, and expertise of the teachers in both the practice and theory of yoga are truly remarkable. AYA provides a welcoming and inclusive environment that is truly exceptional. Even during my pregnancy, I was able to continue practicing Ashtanga yoga under Priya's guidance. I wholeheartedly recommend AYA to anyone looking for a high-quality yoga experience.

I have practiced Ashtanga on and off for 20 years and never found my home base until I found AYA and Priya. The shala has beautiful energy and the teachers are experienced and highly attuned to the practitioners. When adjustments are made, they are so gentle and supportive and helpful. I am so grateful the shala is open again ❣️✨.

Priya runs a beautiful and welcoming shala for ashtangis of all levels, including complete beginners. The teaching philosophy is really unmatched. Priya and Catherine take the time to understand each student individually and encourage mindfulness in the practice. They're also ~ the realest ~. They deeply understand that asana is just a part of the yoga, and they model this aspect beautifully as well. These folks are walking the walk! Incredible place to learn, grow and take some deep breaths.

What a hidden gem in Austin! Priya teaches traditional Ashtanga (as taught by SYC) in a very welcoming and intimate space. She really strives to understand and guide each student individually and is very accommodating to our often hectic lifestyles, especially post pandemic. There are students of all ages and walks of life and is very beginner friendly.
