I've been seeing Alyssa at AthleX for the last 4 months and she's been the absolute best! I'm a fairly athletic person who enjoys exercise (most of the time), but noticed that my results had plateaued and I was getting injured more often. Over the last 4 months I've gained muscle, lost fat, increased my PRs in all exercises, and am in way less pain. In our weekly sessions together we start with some body work before working out - where she focuses on problem areas, but also related muscles that are actually causing the pain that I didn't even realize. As a 44-year-old male who has been fitness-averse my entire life, I never imagined I'd be writing a glowing review for a personal training company. But after three months at Athlex, I can honestly say this place has transformed my life in ways I didn't think were possible.

My journey began with some complicated pelvic floor issues that required physical therapy. Much of my problem stemmed from incorrect breathing patterns, especially during any form of exercise, which put tremendous strain on my body. After several surgeries and weeks spent in physical therapy relearning proper breathing and movement, I reached what felt like a "now or never" moment. I knew I needed to build sustainable fitness habits, but I also knew I couldn't do it alone.

That's when I found Athlex and met Chris and Alyssa. From our very first meeting, they took the time to understand my unique situation and talk through all of my concerns. They didn't dismiss my issues or try to push me into a one-size-fits-all program. Instead, they work with my physical therapist to create a routine specifically designed to strengthen my body while addressing my pelvic floor challenges.

I primarily work with Alyssa, and I cannot say enough good things about her. She is incredibly smart about fitness, muscles, nutrition, and sports medicine, but what really sets her apart is her golden personality. She's absolutely hilarious and makes getting through even the most challenging exercises enjoyable. She worked with my schedule to find times that work best for me, and I'm incredibly grateful to be able to follow her expert guidance.

Every single session begins with bodywork that helps tremendously, especially when I'm dealing with achy muscles from new exercises. Alyssa always explains in detail what we're doing and why, and she can answer any question I throw at her. It's wonderful working with someone who is continually learning about fitness and the human body. Her passion for what she does is genuinely inspiring and motivating.

Beyond the training sessions, Alyssa put together a comprehensive nutrition plan for me and always takes time to check on my wellness, especially if I slightly pull something during our workouts. This level of care and attention goes far beyond what I expected from a training program.

Chris runs an incredibly knowledgeable, supportive, and calm business. He has the most friendly disposition and a wonderful smile that immediately puts you at ease. Working with both him and Alyssa, with their quiet encouragement and wealth of shared knowledge, motivates me far more than working with a trainer who would just yell at me. Their approach is exactly what I needed.

The results speak for themselves. After three months, I'm seeing drastic improvements in my body, my posture, and both my physical and mental health. Friends have been complimenting me on how much better I look and seem. Even more importantly, my physical therapist is incredibly impressed with the progress I've made and has noted remarkable improvements in my pelvic floor issues.

But perhaps the best part is that I've achieved something I set as a goal during our first meeting: I actually enjoy exercising now. I didn't think it was possible, but I genuinely love being active every single day. I look forward to returning to training, to improving, and to seeing actual, measurable results and numbers.
The facility itself is immaculate and inviting, with fresh towels, a clean bathroom, and complimentary water and protein bars. All of the other clients I see always seem just as happy and satisfied as I am, which speaks volumes about the quality of service here.

This place has truly changed my life. I'll be eternally grateful to Chris and Alyssa for sharing their expertise with me, for taking such excellent care of me, and for motivating me to continuously improve. If you're looking for knowledgeable, caring trainers who will meet you where you are and help you become the best version of yourself, I cannot recommend Athlex highly enough.

I’m an athlete & have been my entire life. College basketball & now playing professionally. I first met Chris through a friend in February of 2025 (1 year after I tore my lateral meniscus. I had surgery to repair it March 15th of 2024) & I expressed to Chris that after my torn meniscus & surgery to repair it that the strengthening process hadn’t been smooth. I was getting compensating injuries, my balance was off, I felt weak & I couldn’t get through even the simplest on court workout without straining a calf, or injuring something. I felt as though I had no way forward & was frustrated immensely as summer of 2025 was supposed to be a year after surgery & im expecting this summer to be massive for my professional career & development. After meeting with me and giving me a full body assessment chris & his team quickly put together a plan that had a series of phases to not only help me get back to where I was pre injury but to get even more explosive, more flexible, more balanced, and even more consistent than I ever was even before the injury. Nothing short of a miracle honestly, I’m beyond grateful for Chris and his staff. They genuinely care about you & your goals. They want to see you be great and will push you to get there & see you get over the mental hurdles. If you’re willing to commit to the plan and work hard you’ll achieve anything you want here with Chris and his staff. It’s actually incredible the work he does. I’ve been with strength coaches in college & Chris stands head and shoulders above all with his knowledge and expertise of the bones, muscles, respiratory system, and everything that goes into making the body work. I’ve worked with a lot of trainers or coaches or whatever they want to call themselves but again Chris is head and shoulders above the rest. Originally the plan was to work with Chris for 8 weeks but after seeing the results week after week I don’t see any reason to stop, Chris is ELITE at what he does and anybody who spends time with him will be able to see it clear as day. Don’t take my word for it, give him a go and see for yourself the difference it makes. You won’t regret it!

Athle-X and Chris revolutionized my fitness journey! I am an avid weightlifter with the goal of competing in bodybuilding. I’ve been plagued by minor injuries and pains over the past year, but after only a few sessions with Chris, my eyes have been opened to the causes for those injuries and he has given me the tools to avoid future injuries. Not only that, he has given me tools to trigger the target muscle even more than I was doing before. The pumps are incredible lately! I have not been able to do a bench press or any type of overhead press for months due to shoulder issues. However, within 2 sessions, Chris got me to do both of them without pain and with full muscle pump. I’m all about optimal form and not ego lifting, but I’ve realized my form is not as optimal as it could be. It’s great to have someone watch you and point out some of your mechanics that you might not even be aware of. In all honesty, I feel like I’m starting from scratch because I didn’t know how to breathe when lifting. I wish I would have started with Athle-X sooner. I was really hesitant to invest in getting a personal trainer, but my physical therapist at the time spoke very highly of Chris and suggested I work with him after PT to get more focused full-body rehab/strength work. I decided to go for it and started working with Chris and it was the best decision. He handled all of my concerns/questions with grace and patience. He’s incredibly knowledgeable and not only helped me understand the impact my previous injuries had on my body but also how to correct them and find more balance.
