Austin Simply Fit's purpose is to create a great community and to help people feel and perform better. We are a private studio located in South Austin, TX specializing in 1-on-1 and semi-private training. We offer 30 minute, customized personal training that meets you where you are. In our studios, you'll notice our encouraging atmosphere and world class training equipment.

We'll help you become the best version of yourself possible. Our coaches, certified personal trainers, and nutritionists have the experience, knowledge and motivation to help you achieve all your health and fitness goals.

I’m a little scared to write this review because everyone seems to love this place (and I’m sure the trainers are great!) but the response I got over email about personal training was a little disheartening. You can’t do one session a week (I work two full time jobs and go to school, this is all I can do at the moment) and they make you pay for (starting at) 5 sessions instead of offering session to session. If these don’t deter you, I say go for it! But if you’re in a similar situation-I’d recommend not choosing ASF.

Danny Costa has been my trainer for two years! I had a bad piriformis and knee injury from a gym accident 4 years ago; it made it hard to work with, let alone workout with. As someone who wants to work out, but struggles to know my way around the gym, Vilita is a godsend. She always takes the time to explain an exercise and has a needed focus on form to ensure that I’m getting the most out of my exercises. She knows how to challenge me and how to motivate me, even on days where I’m struggling to make it through. In the past 6 months, she has also been fantastic at turning my 1:1 session into a small group after I convinced my partner to join! Although we are at different fitness and strength levels, she does an amazing job finding exercises that fit both of our goals and adjusting them as needed for each of us so we’re still getting an individualized approach. I train with Mike C. here, and wow I have never had results so quick. Maybe I have never had a good trainer? He pushes you in the gym and supports and motivates you to stay on it out of the gym, he even found an exercise bike for me to stay on top of my cardio. I’ve been working with Andrea for 5 months since November 2024 and I’ve already noticed great improvement in my strength and mobility with the twice weekly sessions. I decided to get a personal trainer to avoid injuries and because I’m new to weightlifting in general. Andrea gives immediate feedback on my form and she is very organized with tracking my progress and moves me up in weight accordingly. When I first started I was struggling with 5lb weights and now I can easily do over head presses with 13lb weights. I started at 30lbs with leg press and I’m up to 100 lbs now. I had the honor of getting fit with Mike when I had 80 pounds to lose. I was physically unhealthy and emotionally depressed. I decided to work with Mike as a last ditch effort. I had zero expectations of myself.

Well, well, well! Not only did l lose the 80 pounds of weight with my diet and goals that Mike set up? But I was strong, muscular in all the right places and clinically healthy (blood work was superb.) I was happy and smiling a lot and had the confidence socially and at work again.

I've been going 3x/week to ASF for about 8 years now and the last ~5 with Sierra. I was never an athlete in school, so I never tried strength training in any serious way. Sierra has helped me learn how to take care of my body and I've been able to do things I never even considered possible from pull-ups to deadlifting hundreds of pounds. I’ve been training with Nicky for over a year now and can’t be any happier with my experience. I joined ASF as a 26 year old in the middle of that transition period where you still have your youth, but you need to set yourself up for your 30s. He listens to my goals and adjusts my training programme accordingly, either a program for building muscle, leaning out, building cardio, balance work, etc. He’s very knowledgeable in the excercises he shows me, catching the slightest dips in form, explaining common gotchas, and augmenting them with progressions when necessary. Summary: If you’re willing to shell out a lot of money and just want to get the workouts in while you’re at the gym with no desire for anything outside of your sessions and looking for more down to earth atmosphere this is the place for you. If you’re looking for any type of long-term goal setting, progress tracking or developing full week plans outside of sessions (to maximize your dollar), this is not it for you.

Pros:
- The instructor I had great focus on getting the right form. I left feeling educated on specific exercises that we did.

- The instructors are very down to earth (except one guy who was super intense).

- The environment was very positive overall

Cons:
- No focus on outside the session (no take home workouts, no tracking, no advice on nutrition or how to improve in between)

- Prices are higher than I expected (about $75 per session for only 30 min). I feel like that should be the hourly price, or if that’s for 30 min then I should be getting a full workout program for the off days.

- I didn’t really feel like there was a focus on goals, I wanted to work specific areas but the workouts were more full body or even when we did a lower body focus it was quads not glutes (which was not what I wanted)

So why does this place have such good reviews?
- 2 reasons: One: the coaches are super friendly. I loved my coach as a person so wouldn’t want to say anything bad about her. And two, I was asked to write a review originally (which was 5 stars) and so obviously I’m gonna write a good review while I’m still there.

Austin Simply Fit has been an absolute changer for me! It’s a truly phenomenal place and I actively look forward to going there twice a week.

I started boxing to get back into fitness, loved it and still do but I hit a plateau. I do exercises both in boxing and at the gym 100% better now than when I walked in.

The location is fully equipped but small and designed for just a few people who are also there with personal trainers. They play good and diverse music, and it’s never loud or crowded.

The personal trainers all seem extremely nice and knowledgeable. My trainer is V and she is THE BEST! My partner and I both train here at the same time and she customizes exercises for each of us and somehow monitors both our form.

I highly recommend Austin Simply Fit to anybody whose looking to get into shape or improve their existing routine.

What can I say? This place (and especially Vilita) is the best! Where to even begin? The location is amazing, the gym is cozy, but has everything one could ever want and THE TRAINERS!! They're knowledgeable, fun and so very friendly.

Up until about a year and a half ago, I had never done any strength training. It had always been cardio. But recognizing how your body changes as we age, I knew I needed to build some muscle mass.

Enter Vilita (who my wife had been seeing for years and also raves about). She listened to my goals, asked great questions about my history and health and set to work developing a tailored plan that has transformed my body through twice a week workouts that are as challenging as they are always changing (which is great, because I never get bored). Vilita is communicative, encouraging and extremely educated in her field. She's also extremely accommodating when I have to change my schedule.

I would recommend Austin Simply Fit (and Vilita Cruz) to anyone at any stage in their fitness journey. They can work with the pros who have been doing it for years and need that extra push, to those who are just starting out and want to be their best selves.

I've trained with Vilita since June, and I am feeling myself again, but like, a better version. My body is my daily driver, and since I can't trade it in, I had to make moves to maintain this thing. I work at a Vet clinic which is very physical, but also stagnant computer work. I was getting achy, couldn't sleep, feeling like a blob; it was hard to do a 1-trip grocery grab.
I tried a free class with Vilita and girl, I was hooked. I never felt so supported, listened to, and truly NOT judged.
Vilita is my daily affirmations personified. She always checks in with how the bod and mind is feeling, and encourages me to advocate for what I need during My session. Some days I've peaked by leaving my bed, and she does not shame me for that, and encourages any movement.
After just a few weeks I was feeling STRONG and more confident. I felt comfy in my own body.
Not to mention that Vilita is extremely flexible in scheduling, and is very responsive to messages.

I’ve sent several of my friends to austin simply fit. It’s one of the highlights of my week although I will always be grumpy about working out. I love this gym! It is right down the road from my house. It is always clean and the trainers are very professional. David, especially, has taken such great care of me. I had been looking to get back into lifting heavy and finding someone who could kick my butt into shape, and he's been doing just that. The 30 minute training blocks are perfect if you've got a busy schedule, and they will leave you feeling like you got your money's worth. I waited to review until I had several sessions completed. Dave earned these 5 stars. I am recently recovered from a flare of chronic cervical disc herniation. It left me afraid to workout again. Dave guides me to strength safely. He is fun which is sneaky because the next day; when he's not around I'm sore! He has taught me that 2 days sore is good; 4 would be bad. It has never exceeded 2. My 15 year old son has been working out with David since last February and it has been fantastic! He was interested in training with weights but I wanted to ensure he learned how to train correctly with proper form and proper breathing. David’s training is exactly what he needed as he shows my son how to stand, how to breath, what body position he should be in and what muscles should be firing for each. He always demonstrates the move first and watches closely while my son performs the reps, redirecting if he sees something off. I appreciate this as David wants to make sure he does not injure himself and gets the most benefit from each set. I put my foot in my mouth when we talked about my goals and he has smiled and pushed me way past what I thought was possible since. He is one of the easiest people to get along with but has every characteristics you could ask for in a trainer! The gym as a whole is state of the art facility (besides the tiny doors to the bathroom) and I've trained at many studios over the years in Austin. The crazy thing is that the equipment is not the best thing about the gym though.... its the employees!!! they bring the energy everyday!

I signed up to train with John Cioffredi at Austin Simply Fit near the beginning of April, and I’ve never made a better decision. I have dealt with multiple health setbacks over the last few years, but specifically some very difficult and unexpected ones within the last 6 months and I became overwhelmed. Austin Simply Fit has been exactly what I was searching for, and so is my trainer John. I could not be happier with Nicky at Austin Simply Fit. He really listens to what my goals and needs are and kept it all in mind when devising a plan, a plan that has evolved as I have gotten stronger. In fact, I have to say he has gone above and beyond what any other trainer I’ve ever worked with has done.

I have a problematic spine and hips that have caused me to live with chronic pain, so training me is not a walk in the park. And it’s never been easy for me either, but he makes it fun and I really appreciate the ‘Atta girl!’ attitude because I need those; they often remind me to celebrate the small victories.

Another thing I really appreciate about Nicky is that he knows how to read the room. He pushes me, and because of that I accomplish things I didn’t know I was even capable of. But he is also aware that I know my body and hard limits and again, he listens. It’s a fine line, but he manages to navigate this dichotomy successfully. If you want someone attentive who knows his stuff, Nicky is your guy!

As for this gym, I love it too! It’s not big, compared to some of the corporate gyms out there. But it packs a punch and lacks nothing! It has literally everything you need and them some and it’s personal training by appt only so you’ll never have to wait for anything. Austin Simply Fit is simply awesome 👏 👏 👏

Having John Cioffredi as my trainer for the past 4+ months has been one of the best decisions I’ve made all year. After having decided to take my health and fitness seriously, I felt as though I needed some assistance to reach my goals after neglecting a healthy fitness routine for multiple years and John has been great to work with since Day 1 of this process. In the beginning, I was cautious of finding a trainer that would push me too far and make me dread coming into the next workout. So, I truly appreciated John’s approach of taking it slow in the beginning, gauge where my fitness levels really are and then start making improvements from there. Since I started, I’ve lost 20+ pounds, but, more importantly, my breathing is better, my back pain is gone, my endurance and recovery levels have made huge improvements, I feel better about myself and what I’m doing and I’m looking forward to continuing to make improvements and set personal records for myself. As someone who too frequently makes excuses, I’ve never once have thought about canceling a workout just b/c I didn’t feel like it and I think John is a huge reason behind that. He’s a great personal trainer who’s very knowledgeable about not just workout routines, but he’ll also pay close attention to make sure you’re using the right form consistently and he’ll tell you about the reasons behind the different movements and what the body’s going through by doing certain exercises. Additionally, he’s an incredibly encouraging and uplifting person and just a great guy to be around multiple times a week. Before I started working out with him, I had preexisting knee and shoulder problems and he’ll modify exercises on the fly to make sure that we aren’t over-stressing an area that's causing pain.
