Grat place for dance lessons

This review is long overdue as this happened in August. I reached out to Balance via text message, as that was recommended online, for a trial class for my two girls. We confirmed the trial date weeks in advance for a 4:00pm Monday class. Balance’s schedule changes so my oldest no longer can try a class before 6pm on Mondays. We arrive at 3:45pm on a Monday for my youngest to try a class. At the front desk is Li (Studio Manager) and Clay. I just talked to Li and she tells me the class is at 4:30pm, not 4pm. We wait until 4:30pm to find out from the instructor that it’s for three year olds. Not the right class! I go back to the front where Li apologizes and admits she wrote it down wrong and it was in fact at 4pm. We end up rescheduling it for 5pm on Thursday for both of my girls and my youngest leaves upset as we just waited around for 45 minutes. Thursday comes and Clay and another woman are at the front desk. I talk with the woman who tells me she only has my oldest on the schedule. Explaining with that the other class might have been canceled! Then follows with “we only offer trial classes to new clients”. That doesn’t make sense because my oldest is returning with no issues for a trial AND that was never mentioned by text or on Monday when we were there in person. I reply very matter-of-factly that they need to work on their communication. I DON’T mention how incompetent they appear because that would be rude. Clay, who has witnessed both instances, stands up from behind the desk to get in my face and repeatedly yell, “Ya here now! Ya here now!” NOT an apology or an approach to correct the problem. Of course he does this in front of KIDS AND CAREGIVERS! My first reaction is shock, then anger, and then wanting to leave. I don’t retaliate to set a GOOD example. The woman ends up getting my youngest in the class. When we leave, I ask for the manager’s contact using the text thread previously used. It takes multiple attempts to eventually get the correct email address as they keep referring to the info email address. That’s when I speak with Li (Studio Manager). I explain my experience where she then admits she was the one at the desk on Monday and apologizes again. I’m understanding as everyone makes mistakes and she was friendly the whole time. I then find out that Clay has a history of this type of behavior!!! What?! Why is he still working there around children? He apparently has multiple roles at Balance too! She asks me if I’d be interested in trying a month for free and promises that I wouldn’t see Clay. I reluctantly agree as my girls initially liked their classes. We’ll, Clay IS at the front desk Thursday afternoons so I do have to see him. We end up not finishing the month out and my girls end up not liking their classes anyway. I will never support this company as they still employ Clay even with repeated offenses.

Before enrolling my daughter at this studio, I visited other schools and tried some trial classes. In one of them, I left feeling overwhelmed: there was no one at the front desk to answer questions, there seemed to be preferential treatment for certain kids, and the instructor lacked classroom control.

After that experience, we attended our Free Trial at Balance Dance Studio, and from the very first moment, it was the complete opposite. There was staff at the front desk who kindly welcomed us and guided us to the classroom. Every email I sent was answered promptly, which gave me great confidence. From the very first day, I saw my daughter engaged and happy. The teacher was very attentive, carefully noticing every detail and handling every situation with discipline and care, which truly makes a big difference.

From that very first class, I knew this was the place I had been looking for. I highly recommend it if you want excellent attention for both parents and students, with the perfect balance of discipline and kindness.

My 2.5 year old daughter loves dance class with Ms. Kira!! She was really scared her first class and Ms. Kira was so sweet and made her feel much better. Now she walks in the class confidently and comes out smiling!

We rented their studio space for a round of auditions, and it was so great! The space was perfect and they were so accommodating. Tatiana was especially kind and great to work with. Would highly recommend!

I really love this studio! The teachers are great and you can watch your children on TV in the waiting areas. The front desk is SUPER helpful and always go out of their way to make scheduling easy. They even have snacks and refreshments available for purchase. And there's a fun playground the kids can play on before or after dance.

Balance Dance Studios has been an incredible place for my child to grow and flourish in ballet. The professionalism and dedication of the instructors are truly commendable—they create a welcoming, supportive environment where students feel encouraged to develop their skills.
Not only is the staff helpful and knowledgeable, but the entire studio radiates a sense of community that makes us feel right at home. My child looks forward to every class, excited to learn and improve in a nurturing space. We couldn’t be happier to be part of this wonderful dance family.

Spacious rooms with nice floors and mirrored walls. Many different types of dance classes going on here for people of all backgrounds and ages. The bathrooms are nice and clean. There's a waterbottle fountain. Parking is abundant.

We love Balance Dance Studio. My daughter has so much fun when she goes to dance. The Studio is very clean, welcoming and you do not feel like a sardine waiting in the parent area lots of space to wait for your dancer.

My four-year-old daughter is very much enjoying her Acro hip hop class. The teacher is fun and engaging and she looks forward to it every week. As a single mom a single mom on a tight budget, I also appreciate how affordable it is.

This place is awful. SUMMER CAMP WARNING: Beware, they charge you 100% of the fee for summer camp up front at registration...and then refuse to refund you if summer plans change - more than 3 months in advance! There is plenty of time to fill a spot.

Definitely THINK TWICE before booking anything here... there are better options.

We celebrated my daughter's 4th birthday at Balance Dance Studio last weekend and it was great! Kira was fantastic leading the kids' dance session –you can tell she has a lot of experience teaching little ones (guests were 2-5 years old). The staff is friendly and helpful, and the studio has a really nice atmosphere. It was a comfortable place for the parents to hang out, and the kids had a lot of fun!

Love this studio. They have 2 buildings with several studios inside. Great talented faculty who truly care about the children and educating them in technique as well as providing entertaining age appropriate choreo for recitals. There are multiple ways to engage in competitive dance here. This studio also offers musical theater activities including voice as well as a musical theater team. There's a store on site with cheaper options than many other places for all your dance needs and charges to your dance account. They also assist with transportation to the studio and now amidst COVID there are a ton of zoom and day time class options. It truly is an atmosphere where a child will be supported, find themselves, and flourish.

There are some amazing teachers here who really care about the kids and do a great job teaching the fundamentals of dance. My son absolutely loves coming here and he looks forward to it all week, and he’s been coming for over a year.

Unfortunately, the staff or owners or I don’t know who feels that pushing their religion on people is more important than running a good dance studio. They play this awful Christian music that everyone has to listen to and refuse to change it. It’s so disappointing because if it wasn’t for this, I would have nothing but good things to say about Balance. But we’re strongly considering finding a new studio simply because pushing their religion has become more and more annoying.

This is the best dance studio in South/SW Austin! The instructors are professional dancers and truly love their craft. They give students a strong foundation and there’s no limit to what they can learn. There is a huge variety in both kids and adult classes. Pricing is very reasonable and the recitals are fantastic. Highly recommend!!!

So sad I moved out of the area, I love the different adult classes they offer at this studio, the staff is also knowledgeable and kind.
