Love this location & the instructors!! Always a great, challenging class for me if I want to take it further & I can’t seem to get enough! Allows me to improve my core, balance, & flexibility, not to mention the amazing mental health benefits & stress relief. If I had it my way I’d attend classes at least 3-4x week, my schedule permitting!

My best friend and I came here for the first time after living in austin for years and we absolutely loved it! We are semi beginners and Kaitlyn was absolutely amazing, sweet, and welcoming. Our first class here made our day! We are now looking forward to making BSY a apart of our weekly routine! 🖤🦢🪷

Decent yoga studio. Better if you're a female. I feel they cater much more to girls than guys. Not as bad as Y7 in that regard, but just FYI fellas you'll be one of a verrrry few males most classes. Pure Yoga on Oakland is much more co-ed in practice, and they have Bikram - proper 105 degree hot yoga.

I like the variety of classes and there are some really great teachers. I wish the schedule would explain a bit morw about the classes. Most classes are flow however each teacher has their own style and intensity level. It's hard to know what to expect when taking a teacher's class for the first time. Classes can be very crowded and there is not a lot of personal attention from instructors which I miss from my previous yoga studio.

I really love it here. It's been extremely helpful for my fitness, but also for my overall wellness and growth. My favorite class and the best kept secret is Jessica L's Yin class, which has been immensely helpful both for flexibility as well as for emotional processing and release. Kewal's chill and flow classes are also awesome. But really, I haven't had a class that I haven't enjoyed in some way.

Let's talk about Andrew at the Black Swan Studio – because he's the REAL deal!

What makes Andrew truly special is how he leads the class: intentional, funny, and energetic.

He turns yoga into a challenge that's ridiculously fun!

I've been wanting to get back into yoga for a while, and Andrew made it so easy. 🤗

If you're looking for a yoga experience that pulls you out of your monkey mind, join Andrew's class.

Total mood changer 🤯

I've been going to BSY for 4 years now and I'm constantly impressed by the distinctive styles and skillsets that each instructor brings to class.

I'm personally a huge fan of Aly (Power Flow), Erika (Flow), Hailey (Flow/Slow Flow), Allison (Flow/Hot Onit) and Sean's classes (Flow)!

But a note about Sean: His background in massage and jiu-jitsu shines through in each class. You get a blend of yoga, self-care, and functional movement/strength.

They're definitely different from your standard flow (I think they should be listed as a specific class type, like Power Flow...but something else? Maybe "Functional Flow"?!?!), so come prepared knowing that! I am challenged in every class in ways I have never been before, and he really pushes us to be curious and playful in movement....a good reminder to not take things so seriously!

I have loved being a part of the BSY community the past several years, and I look forward to many more.

I love it here! I am sure all of the instructors are amazing, but so far I particularly love classes taught by Liberty, Stephanie, and Nicole!! I love the philosophy behind black swan yoga, I love how it is an affordable donation based studio, and how all of the instructors make everyone feel so welcomed and appreciated. I have started going at least twice a week, might aim for 3x a week next month :)
I have been doing the Flow classes, they are all levels, and the instructors will offer alternate positions for different levels and suggest advancements for the more senior or experienced yogis. I feel like I am somewhere in the middle, not a beginner but also not advanced, and the classes are perfect since I can take the postures I need to make the most of my practice and get my workout & sweat on. And if i’m ever having an off day and get too winded, I just go into a child’s pose or a down dog! no judgement, no pressure. You know your body best and when you need to rest :)
I have also brought friends who are beginners and they said they liked the class as well and found they were able to get a good flow in.
finally, i love the emphasis BSY puts on community. and how they have complimentary hair ties at the desk for people like me who constantly are losing or breaking hair ties

I really love this studio. I’m not a yogi or by any means intermediate/advanced, but the energy in this studio feel so free of judgment, so calming, and empowering! The classes as a beginner may seem hard at first, but isn’t every kind of workout? By my third class I had found a groove and by the fifth had no problem keeping up. I bought a membership and haven’t looked back! Erikka with the curly blonde hair is my favorite instructor! Her classes are balanced and it’s a definitely a full body work out. She focuses on certain areas of the body each class which I really enjoy. 10/10

I always love the classes, but the scheduling of said classes through the website needs A LOT of work! The UI is not at all easy to navigate. I never am able to verify if my class has been scheduled(if I'm even able to find how and where to sign up) and typically, when I show up the say "I'm not on the list." The staff is nice enough to add me to the class, but it's frustrating to spend so much time and not have anything to show for it. The "chat bot" that is on the website to "help" is next to impossible to interact with. When I ask to speak with someone, I get a text that says someone will respond to me, but I never hear back from anyone. It's getting close that I don't even want to book classes with the studio anymore. Please update your system and find something that is easier for customer/students to use. It's likely your bookings will go up if you have better and more easily navigated systems.

A very nice and clean studio, but the "all levels" classes are not really all levels. it's pretty impossible if you're not at the intermediate or advanced level. doesn't feel very inclusive to novices as compared to other yoga studios I've been to. I won't be coming back.

I love the yoga classes and would give 5 stars, but it's too HOTTT! I like Skye the best. Great teaching style and she doesn't make it too hot for her classes. I really wish they had several unheated classes everyday. I would bend backwards to get to those. Sadly, I will probably go back to my previous studio once they open back up, even though they're more expensive - just because they don't heat all their classes.

This yoga studio is super cool. This location is clean and has two yoga studios in one building, so there will often be two classes going at once but they also have their own parking lot with plenty of spots. The studio is an older building but lots of bright light from the windows and cool art/lights on the ceiling make it feel comfortable. There are a ton of different yoga instructors here and there are honestly so many different instructors for the basic flow classes that I can hardly remember their names but they are all super nice and friendly. I love that they offer different types of classes, some really unique things that other yoga studios do not. The HOT ON IT class with Gypsy was awesome! This studio definitely is not as nice/fancy as others I've been to but the prices are low (I sign up on classpass) and the instructors really know what they are doing. The studio is also always pretty clean.

COVID: I have been coming here almost weekly since August 2020 & so far there can be anywhere from 12-23 people in a class. They are not allowing people to use the cubbies to prevent creating a high touch area. Some instructors make a big effort to tell everyone to breathe out through the nose to prevent spreading droplets from the mouth and some tell us to please wear our masks while others don't mention it. There is a cute sign by the door encouraging attendees to wear masks. However, when there is more than 15 people in the studio I feel really uncomfortable, as it is not large enough to spread 6 ft apart at that point. I wish they would cap how many people could come to class (10 people? 15?) and would pay a little more to attend a smaller class.

Bring back Yin.

I used to come to Sean’s Yin class like clockwork. The energy was always calming, and I’d leave feeling extremely relaxed. I’ve been back a few times since the shift to “chill” and it frustrates me to say this, but it just isn’t as good. I don’t feel like it’s on the same level compared to the Yin restorative class.

Obviously every teacher has a different style, but aside from getting a great restorative class, I felt always welcome at the studio in Sean’s classes. Tonight, I had to turn around ad go grab my mat so after I grabbed it, I tried to introduce myself to the teacher since we hadn’t met yet. I was in the room with him and two other guys, and I might as well have been invisible the way he completely ignored me. It was so uncomfortable I just left without saying anything at all...

I’m sure he’s a good guy so I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt... but it might be worth reminding your teachers that first impressions and can make or break the experience. I don’t think I’ll be giving his class another chance for both the reasons above.

What a great group of people! The instructors are all super nice, helpful and welcoming. I started off on a class by class donation basis and quickly signed up for their monthly unlimited because it is such a deal. I have truly fallen in love with the practice and enjoy coming here!! Might I add I was brand new to yoga when I first started but I never felt uncomfortable- from day one I was encourage and welcomed. A special shout out to Todd, Whitney and Michelle who all teach excellent classes!

My only one criticism isn’t to the studio necessarily- when I first started I didn’t realize you needed to take off you shoes before you walk in (as not to drag in dirt all over the floor where people are practicing). Maybe the studio could post a larger sign or mention it more often to their yogis.

I really enjoyed the environment here. I appreciated all the feedback. People said BSY changed after they were acquired by Onnit but I don’t see it. Yes, they are a tad more corporate but I think that’s just a necessary growing pain. The staff is incredibly friendly, the space is maintained and clean, and they don’t have any weird rules/regs that plague some of the more corporate yoga studios

Took my very first class this Sunday past. I took a Flow class with Michelle and was very nervous being I hadn't taken a yoga class in quite a while. I was a beginner and had no idea what I signed up for. Boy was I pleased. The house class time flew by. The pace of the class was perfect for me. Tho I was completely unfamiliar with any of the poses or what I was doing, I felt very comfortable and at ease. Loved my first class and will be back. I now have a good yoga mat, proper clothing and I've found the right class for me. I will be back! Great location for me too.

I walked in at 10:15 Sunday morning to be hit hard in the face with the thick, moist musk of pee. It literally smelled like a hot, wet, piss soaked diaper. I brushed it off somehow and gave my donation and set up my mat. Sitting on my mat I noticed how filthy the floor was. Their floor is black and it was covered in hair, dust, and white SHOE marks! Shoes! In a yoga studio! I asked the girl next to me if the floors were usually this filthy and she shrugged and said, “Yeah.” I couldn’t imagine relaxing in this rancid environment. I was already having a hard time breathing the putrid air so I packed up and asked for my donation back. The girl working the counter laughed at me but gave it back. Upon leaving, the fresh air outside greeted me like a warm hug. Also, if you’re still are keen to go here, it is hot yoga and they don’t have showers - not that surprising as it seems sanitation is not something they are concerned with.

Black Swan Yoga have heard of it I've never been there. I'm reading it at 3 as it's moved into the area and looks good. I have interviewed three or four people that go there and have pretty much the same response that it's Black Swan Yoga that has been around for awhile it has a particular membership that is all being a little bit metrosexual and clicky. I have a hard time with that all alone given the realm of which it is supposed to be. I don't do anything that is contrary to what it is supposed to be. When I think of yoga I think of Swami's quiet incense and things away from snotty comparative people. Evidently this is not always the case it Black Swan but then again this is only what I have heard. I have been threatening to go and experience it myself. Because I need something like this in my life for relaxation and stretching Etc given that I am 65 years old. But in all fairness perhaps I should do that. I just wanted to chime in about what I had heard. And anybody reading this review should consider it as such. This is not a good bona fide review of actual circumstances this is all second hand news and hearsay. There is that fair?
