I recently took my first hot yoga class at Black Swan Yoga (White Oak) & it was such a positive experience. From the moment I walked in, I felt completely at ease…the studio radiates a vibrant, welcoming energy. Even with a full class, the space felt open & comfortable. Lesley was incredibly thorough & kind, making me feel like part of the community right away, even as a first time visitor. I was a little nervous about trying hot yoga, but it turned out to be very manageable & refreshing. That was exactly what I needed during my trip to Houston. I’m already looking forward to coming back next time I’m in town.

I think Candace Q fell from the sky from the heavens and I am not the only one who thinks so. I’ve taken her class for several years and she has only gotten better as a teacher and as a person. She is soooo intelligent about the practice of yoga and does an excellent job of teaching the integrity of the poses. Also she expresses herself to the students in class with such humility and kindness. I imagine it can be tough to hold boundaries in class and give directives in such a tactful and cute way. The other day I took her class and the practice opened me up spiritually and emotionally and I had no choice but to cry tears of gratitude for everything I’ve watched her do for our community. To know Candace is to love her. To love her is a privilege to us all that we get to witness a real life angel in a human suit on earth. Thank you to Candace for your love and devotion to this practice and to your own actualization and wisdom that you gift to us. I think we should have a statue of her outside of black swan and we rub it for good luck. Thank you for always keeping my body and my spirit aligned. We love you so much and we are so grateful for you !!!!!

But also just a suggestions to the studio, more social events, kids yoga, and maybe investing in your teachers more who could use a little more guidance in their education in the practice of yoga. Sometimes I’ll be in a class and the teachers will give queues that are counter intuitive to what is the body’s natural position and can be detrimental. Black Swan is a great community staple and think together, we can make it even better !!!

I come specifically for Jose’s classes but have been pleased with the other instructors modalities when Jose’s not available. I purchased the membership which is a great deal if you go at least four times a month. With their multiple locations in Houston and Denver it’s a no brainer for me since I frequent both cities. If you’re reluctant to commit to a membership they offer donation based classes which is also a win.

Devin is by far the best instructor at Black Swan. His classes embody the true essence of yoga—uniting body, mind, and spirit in a way that feels both grounding and uplifting. He creates a deeply spiritual atmosphere, guiding you to move with intention and breath. What truly sets him apart is his attentiveness: he takes the time to observe each student and offer thoughtful, hands-on corrections, ensuring safe alignment and deeper engagement. Every class feels like a step toward not just physical strength and flexibility, but inner clarity and balance.

I absolutely love Black Swan Yoga! All three locations are fantastic—clean, welcoming, and thoughtfully designed. The instructors are truly amazing: knowledgeable, inspiring, and supportive of every level, whether you’re a beginner or experienced yogi. The hot yoga classes are intense in the best way possible—energizing, grounding, and incredibly detoxifying. I always leave feeling refreshed, stronger, and more balanced. If you’re looking for a place to deepen your practice or just sweat it out and clear your mind, Black Swan is it. Highly recommend!

I love this studio! Everyone is so kind, and the instructors genuinely meet you where you are. Taking breaks and listening to your body is encouraged, but I also feel challenged in the best way. Each instructor has their unique style, but the studio's core values remain consistent, making every new class feel both exciting and grounded. I would totally recommend this studio to anyone who's a beginner in yoga or an experienced yogi looking for a fun and supportive environment.

I joined Black Swan Yoga because I wanted to try it out with a friend. We decided to try it out for 30 days. We both signed up with a membership unfortunately she selected the correct one and I must have accidentally selected the annual one on my phone.

When I went to cancel after the 30 days I was slapped with a hefty cancellation fee tied to the annual membership, $264

This unexpectedly large fee that felt more like a punishment than a fair business policy. The staff was very unsympathetic.

In an industry rooted in mindfulness and personal growth, I expected more flexibility. The rigid cancellation terms left a bitter taste, and I can’t help but feel taken advantage of. If you’re thinking about signing up, don’t do it.

After my home studio YogaOne closed, I needed to find a new place to practice and eventually discovered Black Swan Yoga. Yoga is like a chorus - you have to find a teacher whose voice, style, and heart resonate with you. Natasha has become my favorite teacher for numerous reasons.

She greets every student at the door with genuine enthusiasm, setting a wonderful energy in the lobby and preparing us mentally for class. Her teaching authority and tone strike the perfect balance - maintaining standards while expressing joy for her students' progress. The way she uses her voice throughout the room to encourage perseverance and breakthrough moments is truly a gift.

I often request sweaty post-class selfies (for social media bragging rights!), and her delightful personality shines through as she always obliges with a big smile. She describes herself as a 'traveling yogi,' sharing her adventures and delicious food discoveries with her students, refilling her cup in the process to avoid feeling drained.

Though I only know Natasha through classes, selfie poses, and her vibrant personality, she feels like a friend - which makes attending her classes both easy and pleasurable. Black Swan Yoga is fortunate to have such a talented instructor!

HOT YOGA is the BEST!!

My first thought was that I wouldn’t be able to handle exercising in a heated room but after my very first class I was hooked. I spent my first 20 years in gymnastics and cheer but the last 20 years raising three kids and “jogging”maybe twice a year. When I found myself out of breath after a couple flights of stairs, I knew I had to find something. This was the perfect combo of strength and flexibility that I could manage and really look forward to each week! I’ve been going 2-3 times a week for 6 months and I’ve seen an improvement in my stress, anxiety, and even my sleep. My flexibility is almost back to where I was 20 years ago.

I would highly, highly recommend BSY to anyone interested in Yoga and open to awaking your mind, body, and senses. I have seen all ages, shapes, sizes, and levels in this class and every single instructor is welcoming and encouraging towards the entire class. They are all incredibly talented in creating fun and challenging flows, and I’ve yet to go to a class I didn’t enjoy. Remember that Yoga is a practice of understanding your own body, abilities, and limitations and you’ll do fine!!

Prepare to sweat… A LOT! Bring a water bottle and a small hand towel. Mats can be rented and if you’re worried about cost, don’t! I’ve seen people donate $5-$20 per class. After a couple weeks I signed up monthly and when Black Friday came around I purchased an annual membership… you’ll want to come back over and over again, it’s THAT good!!

My friends and I were really excited to try this place, so we signed up for the 7pm class with Lindsay yesterday. However, we arrived at 7:03 and were told they needed to check if there were any spots left, since after 7pm, waitlisted people take priority, even if we had signed up earlier. After confirming there were enough spots, they had trouble finding my reservation. Throughout this, the instructor rudely interrupted the receptionist multiple times, insisting that she needed to close the doors and making comments, which only delayed the process further. Eventually, when they sorted things out, the instructor ignored the receptionist and closed the doors on us. The only positive aspect of the experience was the receptionist, who was polite and genuinely tried to help us. Unfortunately, the instructor's attitude was terrible, and it's hard to imagine how anyone could relax in her class with such a poor demeanor.

Black Swan Yoga is one of my favorite studios in Houston, and for good reason! Their drop-in class donation ($12) is probably the most affordable option in the city right now. I enjoy going to Black Swan—not only for the affordability but also because they often run monthly specials, which I always take advantage of.

Parking can be a pain if you're going during busy times (after work), but the classes I take around 1pm, or even 4ish, I can ALWAYS find parking on the street. I try to get there 10 minutes before for space and a spot in the yoga room.

The White Oak location has a small room that can fit about 60+ people. It can get a bit cramped, and you're definitely up close and personal with your neighbor, but honestly, it doesn't bother me anymore. I enjoy the classes and the community!

I especially love taking classes from Jose—he’s hilarious and makes every session such a blast. His classes are not only fun but also an incredible workout!

Definitely check them out!

Tried out this place through classpass and loved the vibe! Nosa is a great instructor with a great vibe and the class felt very fun and light. My only complaint would be that I feel like they definitely over-sold spaces in the class and there were way too many people in the room. It was difficult to maneuver during the class without kicking someone which was very distracting and made it difficult to fully enjoy myself.

This review is based solely on one of the Black Swan employees (Jackie). Yesterday I witnessed the most rude entitlement behavior from Jackie when she made a Juice Land customer move from the street parallel parking right in front of the storefront. This customer had arrived first and parked when Jackie pulled her white SUV in front of their car.....got out of her vehicle and told them to move because she works at Black Swan and that was where "SHE" wanted to park. Mind you Jackie could have just easily parked inside the parking lot . Such ugly and rude behavior from this employee towards a customer. From my POV it was such entitlement from her. I'm a regular in this area and there is no assigned parking for employees or customers. We just park in what ever parking is available. Shame on you for thinking you are ENTITLED to do this to people. You can park in the parking lot just like we all do when other spots are already taken.

Other than that Black Swan is great.

Instructors at BSY community in Houston are really awesome but the White Oak location is horrid. Owners of this studio seem to care more about filling up classes for $$ rather than the safety of the students.

It gets over-crowded to the point the heat is dangerous, especially in the summer. I get lightheaded, migraines, & stressed out from these classes and an average stretch at best due to the heat (it has exceeded 100 degrees multiple times). Students constantly leave early & complain afterward. I am surprised that the reviews on here do not reflect that.

The other locations in town make me feel great and relaxed after. I would give this studio a one star if it wasnt for the great instructors of the BYS community. Avoid this one if you want to experience real yoga.

I’ve been practicing yoga for more than a decade now, and the most important thing for me is to find an instructor that is passionate about guiding people to become their better selves through intricate body movements. When yoga is taught correctly— with passion, heart, compassion, deep understanding of the body — yoga then becomes medicine for the body, mind, and soul. Like I mentioned above, it’s hard to find an instructor with said qualities. The GOOD NEWS is you don’t need to look further. If you’re in your healing era, and are looking to be challenged you have to take Ms. Natasha’s class. You will not be disappointed! ! ! She’s stellar, down to earth, funny, and will make you sweat like you haven’t before.

I had an appointment on 2/10/24 at 2:30pm. I was there at exactly 2:24pm and due to the parking situation, I was not able to actually walk up to the establishment until exactly 2:27pm. On top of that I could not find the entrance to the facility solely because of the fact the instructor had already closed the door. When I finally saw where the door was, since it was my first time, I was not able to open or even talk to anyone. I was knocking and waving to someone inside and she very rudely ignored me. I find that very inconvenient and especially unprofessional for the reason that 1. I was not let known to get there any sort of early & 2. No where on your website or scheduling site did I see anything about this.

The past 2 months I have taken over 35 classes with BSY ✨ so why do I keep coming back? First, you get a detox from the heat- its definitely a sweaty practice but it feels so good afterwards and you will definitely feel refreshed after a session.

Second reason(s), are the teachers . there were so many times that I completely surprised myself when they have called for different poses (bird of paradise, crow, wheel, holding chair pose, etc), the teachers just know how to guide and motivate you! The yoga teachers really are passionate about what they do and it’s evident in the class! I leave the studio feeling energized and inspired by the words of wisdom they have shared.

I have had such a great experience at BSY and thats why I keep coming back :) I will say, the white oak location can be a bit stuffy. The studio can fill up quickly as it is not very big - I also would recommend taking classes during the non-peak hours (usually the 5pm-8pm classes can get full) and I know people also have a tricky time with parking, just be aware of that.

But overall, great classes- wonderful teachers- very nice people- lots of class time available to fit in your busy schedule- overall highly recommend if you enjoy yoga :)

Been coming to their classes here recently and love it! The instructors and staff members are always nice and I appreciate that a lot. They also offer different levels of classes which is nice. Love the vibes of this studio, it is exactly what a yoga studio should be! It's also always clean. It does get very hot and sweaty in class but that's the point! Just make sure to come early for busier classes so you get the spot you prefer. Also like how they now have the markers on the ground so everyone has a spot for their mat compared to trying to squeeze in a spot like before. Highly recommend BSY!

This studio has been everything I ever looked for in a yoga studio. The affectionately-and-appropriately nicknamed “hot box” on White Oak has an energy in its walls that brings me home. I love the no frills vibe and the supportive, inspiring community, but it’s the teachers who keep me coming back. I have been a member for almost 5 years! Hands down, my favorite classes are with Candice Quino, whose choreography is thoughtfully crafted to give every student— no matter their yoga experience— a journey into the heart of yoga. I mean it. She is one of a kind, and I’ll follow her anywhere!! I also enjoy Jose Portillo’s challenging classes and kind heart. He kicks your butt and lifts you up at the same time. Somehow at the end of class, you are spent, but begging for it not to end.

If you’re shopping for a heated vinyasa yoga studio and great yoga, BSY is a great place to check out. You don’t have to commit to monthly memberships, as it’s donation-based, however it is an option. Classes offered all times of the night and day, three studios around H-town, avid yoga fanatics that are serious about their yoga practice…

I could continue on and on about all the wonderful ways this community has lifted me up, held me tight when I was hurting, and celebrated life’s happy moments alongside me. We’ve been through a heck of a lot this past five years but no matter what’s spinning in the world outside—a trip to BSY White Oak is like coming home. ❤️

I love Black Swan, I've tried a ton of their teachers/classes, for more stretching/calm Patrick/Amy/Nosa/J'nay all have nice classes where you can do more practice/stretching usually Sunday/weeknight evenings.

For new people, try to listen to the teacher rather than watch others except for brief checks. After a few classes, you will start to notice a pattern and be able to follow with your eyes closed for the most part.

I do think there should be a warning for the 11:30 Saturday class with Juliana which almost always is at max capacity and thus also max heat/humidity should be avoided for first-timers but is a nice challenge if you're ready for that.

I think a lot of new people try out Blackswan for a nice Saturday morning and end up in HIT style vinyasa flow and can kinda feel trapped in the room.

Background I'm 6'2" and weigh 220lb with a lifter physique I've had my heart rate in the red zone for 20 minutes before touching 195 and I usually have to start doing modified easy posies or taking a break into child's pose in around the 3/4th's mark of class in the 11:30 Saturday.

A little story about communities, cultures, and people. First, the assignment of four stars is specific only to the business, Black Swan Yoga (BSY). Although they are close to five stars. The business is nothing special, but several key teachers working there redefine the common misconceptions and negative stigmas that are normally associated with Western designer yoga practices.

I will address the BSY Business later; however, I wish to give priority to a few very special people.

Candice Quino is the primary reason I attend BSY

While this review is supposed to be about the studio/business, my review of her has nothing but praise. She's a teacher's teacher, a true mentor with legitimate, authentic compassion and mindfulness. She is authentic, a real person being real and entering a place where she knows her path is to hold the light and elevate people. I can imagine her teaching classes at even the most advanced level with clarity, but where she shines is by making any class she teaches attainable and enjoyable for any attendee.

She has consistently demonstrated a willingness to go above and beyond the scope of her job requirements in order to engage the students of the class and impart training, wisdom, and support on physical, mental, and emotional/spiritual levels. She thinks of her class first and foremost. This means listening instead of talking, sharing only what is uplifting, and being an example to remind us all that we can lift others up even if we ourselves aren't having the best day.

She has an incredible knowledge of anatomy and the focus to walk through any flow with a clear, simple-to-understand narration of the movement, its history, and the impact it will have. The oration is so clear and easy to understand that even the most beginner (without needing to even see a demonstration) can confidently execute the flows and grasp the poses comprising them.

Recently she has begun expanding her teaching with new emerging styles. While already a master teacher, these new styles require significant training and practice. Not only has she studied the material well, but she has personally committed to as much training as possible for this. I can't even imagine the value she brings to the company, but it is tremendous and noteworthy.

I can speak highly of a few others. Namely, Inga Seals and Nosa Edebor both have set similar examples. I don't discount other teachers, but I don't yet have enough experience to speak of them.

The BSY business is pretty cliche. It's "a designer yoga studio." The facilities are nice. The rooms could be hotter LOL (I know I won't win this one).

Now a few blunders

This review. The business pressed on its instructors the need to solicit reviews. Knowing the instructors are the magic, the BSY sought to further exploit this, knowing that loyal students only speak highly of their teachers. The reviews incentivize staff by giving them credit vouchers to BSY for each review a teacher gets. Wouldn't it make more sense to incentivize instructions with actual pay bonuses..? This knocks down my impression of BSY.

Occupancy. In January, they call it "The BSY Challenge. It's a gimmick to cram new people in. It's shortsighted. The constant overbooked classes become painfully frustrating. As a regular attendee missing out on classes from overbooking is infuriating. I was open to the challenge, but cramming took away from the experience. I’m not even targeting primetime, and I can’t get a class without a waiting list.

Don’t get me wrong, I am open to sharing a large class, but the quality of experience is diminished, with the first few minutes of each class suffering the chaos of sliding in one or two more mats. Kudos to the instructors that kindly and compassionately try to accommodate everyone. I want to remain a champion. However, when those closest to me ask, I will be honest and say, “Don’t go in January; it’s a bad experience.” I often invite others to join me. In January, I direct them elsewhere.

Anyone who hears me talk about taking yoga classes in general will ~always~ also hear me drop Candice’s name. If you’re reading this, please do yourself a favor and sign up for a class with her- you won’t want to miss her Candlelight flows at the White Oak studio. Some words that come to mind when thinking of the experience she creates: transcendental (not an original thought, this is actually what the facilitator of Black Swan’s teacher training will tell you, no lies), deeply impactful, educational, melodic, fun, divine. Simply the best. Just go :]

I go to Stephanie’s class on Friday at 4pm at the White Oak location and LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it every week! She is so fun and challenging. Her sequencing is always challenging but doable, and she plays fun hip music and also a sound bowl at the end of every class that aligns the heart chakra while laying in savasana. If you want a fun, challenging, butt-kicker of yoga to start your weekend off, or end your week, go to her class!!

Candice Quino’s 10 PM Chill class gives me a calm closing of the day. It’s like folding my clothes into a drawer at night. I get sorted and massaged into shape while listening to her day’s story. Telling a story and moving to it is her strength. The darkened room gives us access to calm dramatic breaths that would make us feel conspicuous in brighter levels. Visit and thrive. (Her 8:30 is a faster story.)

Another teacher, Natasha Ponciano, has the voice of a saxophone and a presence to it that invites you to positions and breathing that feel great and returns access to your body’s full potential.

I practiced yoga for many years but never really hooked into it consistently until I met Stephanie McCarrey. I love how she designs the class structures including core workout, balances and her fun music. She always tries to make the classes with different challenges, new poses, energetic music, and thanks to that it’s much more fun to do yoga with her. She encourages people to try but always prioritize safety and respect personal limitations.
In general, I like all yoga instructors at Black Swan. They are all nice and well trained. The studios are also nice with exception that sometime classrooms are too crowded in the rush hours.
