My husband and I went from MMO champions (hardcore gaming) to gym novices. After a decade of bodily neglect we finally got away from our desks and into Fred's office at Bodies by Design. Along with a healthy diet (huge turn around from Doordash btw), satisfying success was inevitable.

Unlike dietary adjustments according to pre-existing health conditions, exercising at this gym is very straightforward. I believe our motivational speech included "Just get up and move." Given our background, direct and uncomplicated physical application is totally necessary. Working out has become one of the hardest yet easiest things we've done. Highly recommended Bodies by Design, bring your strongest self, diet with exercise, "Get up and win."

**Update: After 6+ weeks at BBD I've lost 21 pounds, gained TONS of mobility, and generally feel healthier with lots of energy to spend. Gym culture is great too =)

I'd been working with Dr. Morgan at Opal Movement Therapy for over two years - first at their old location, then when they moved to their new location with Bodies by Design. She was helping me deal with herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, rotator cuff repair and the lovely parade of issues that come with 31 years of chronic back pain. I was getting stronger and having fewer flare-ups, but I was still babying myself when it came to actually working out.

I had a membership at Cowboys Fitness, but I only used the machines. Free weights? That section was for people who knew what they were doing and had bodies that cooperated. I figured I'd just tweak something anyway. And honestly, I didn't go often because "I'll do it later" turned into "not this week either."

Then Morgan started suggesting I talk to Fred about joining Bodies by Design. My first thought when I walked in was "this looks like a CrossFit gym - I can't flip tires and do pull-ups." I tweak my back SLEEPING, for God's sake. But Morgan kept saying I was ready, so I finally met with the owner Fred Sassani, for an assessment.

Fred knows that most people in his gym are Type A personalities who run businesses, take care of other people, and are ON all day making decisions. His rule is you leave that at the door and focus on yourself for an hour. No being on your phone while you're on the treadmill. No need to know 5 steps ahead of what you are doing. Focus on the one thing in front of you. No negative talk about yourself or your body. He will absolutely call you out if you start that, and honestly, I needed it.

Here's what changed everything: the small group training model. The workout has been chosen for me. Fred, Morgan, or Martha demonstrates each of the six movements for the day, then adjusts your form as needed throughout the session. You're not wandering around a gym trying to find an open machine, figure out what to do or wondering if you're doing it wrong. Someone who knows what they are doing, knows your body and your limitations is right there.

The community here is something else. There's a guy who has lost over 135 pounds and is honestly a beast with weights. There are women in their 60s lifting weights I can only dream about, crushing it three times a week. And everyone is genuinely kind and supportive. When I'm having a day where I need more accommodations, or I'm slower than usual, nobody makes you feel bad about it. Some people have been members for 15+ years, which tells you something.

I've been working out here for five months now, going three times a week. I work out during Morgan's and Fred's classes, still modifying exercises where necessary, but I'm feeling stronger every day. I've had fewer flare-ups and I've lost 15 pounds and 2% body fat so far.

I've learned the difference between being "regular strong" and functionally strong is huge. I've always had muscular calves and strong quads, but my glutes didn't fire properly, so all that strength wasn't actually useful for daily life. Now I'm building the kind of strength that translates to real-world movement, better coordination, balance, and stability across multiple muscle groups working together.

I've got about 30 more pounds of fat to lose and more muscle to gain. I hope that when I reach a healthier weight for my body and achieve functional strength gains, I'll experience less nerve pain and back pain. It's early in the journey, but I'm actually making progress for the first time in decades.

If you're dealing with chronic issues and you don't think a gym like this is for you – I didn't either. But if you're willing to start where you are, modify what needs to be modified, and actually show up for yourself, this place and these people will meet you there.

Review:
Perfect functional training place in Austin area.
I had functional training place experience before in Arizona but here it is semi private. You will be in a group class and the coaches focuses on everyone on how they are doing correct the form and see if we are slacking and pushes us to achieve true resistance and strength training.

I really learnt correct forms of even squats and it made huge difference. I even learnt shoes make a huge difference and they did. They have body scans to tell us how much protein is needed, muscle and body fat needs to be.

Realtime difference: I am able to do basic tasks more easily. I can push heavy furniture by myself, lifting 5 gallon water can with ease. I was able to do these things before too but now they feel like so easy and light weight tasks.

My coach showed me I am stronger than I look and always encourages me.

The group you workout with is so encouraging and the senior folks who have been here long, (when I say long people are with this place for more than 25 years) encourage us and keep accountability.

I still have long way to go to reduce my body fat but this is a time taking process and we need to "Trust the Process". I have not worked out in more than 3 years so I have gained good amount of weight and body fat. but within two months I could see lot of changes, you will too.

The coaches Fred and Dr Morgan are amazing. I worked with Coach Fred a lot. He is the best. Dr Morgan is the Physical Therapist too and they have the clinic in the gym. The classes make sure they address all muscle groups on a weekly basis. I regret not joining them earlier.

I hate treadmill but the class made me love it and look forward to warming up on it.

I am a vegeterian and still figuring things out with nutrition but the process takes time and looking forward to learn more and become stronger.

When I joined Bodies by Design in April 2024, I had never done any structured workouts or strength training. My goal was to increase muscle and become stronger.
In the last 18 months, I have become stronger and more so than anything learned so much about fitness and healthy lifestyle. I have also built great friends who enjoy working hard. Immediately, I recognized his sincerity and expertise. I really like the set up of this gym. I was doing private training for a few years and didn’t really want to go back to a normal gym. But the cost of private training got to be too high.
I was seeing Dr. Morgan at my brothers recommendation and she mentioned she leads class at Bodies by Design so that was my reason for starting.
Dr. Morgan and Fred are fantastic trainers, they are quick to point out how I was doing some exercises incorrect or in some cases, doing too much. There is always a great explanation about why we are doing the exercise and modifications to make it easier to do if needed.
I really like the class set up- you have set times to get started with a warm up to do before every class. I’ve never done HIIT classes before so it took a little time to learn how to properly pace myself but Fred and Morgan also made it clear that there was no pressure to do the exercises for the full time and breaks were okay.
One of the reasons I never did classes before is that I didn’t care for some gyms goers egos but that is not the case at Bodies by Design. Every person I’ve met has been kind and friendly and answer any questions I had when I was new. Every session ends with everyone giving you a fist bump that I think showcases the mindset of everyone there.
Highly recommend- 10 out of 10.

Bodies By Design is truly a special place! I started working out here earlier this year, and what stands out most to me is the incredible sense of community. I’ve never been part of a gym that feels so much like family.

The small group fitness classes are one of my favorite aspects—they offer personalized attention with cues and modifications tailored to each individual, while also having a team energy. After having a total knee replacement, I knew I needed to regain my strength and mobility. I also thought, I can do this myself, I know how to work out, but maybe I'll try a trainer. From day one, the staff ha e been welcoming, attentive, and genuine invested in my recovery. What I didn't realize, is how much I needed that extra push! The trainers took the time to understand my limitations and goals and modify the exercises to ensure I can do them but that they are still a stretch for me. With the on site PT team, I have come to also learn where I need to strengthen. Both PT and the trainers ensure the right form is used for any exercise.

What stands out most is their patience and encouragement, and the positive atmosphere they have created. Whether you're recovering from surgery. managing an injury, or just looking to improve your health, I can't recommend this place highly enough.

I came across Bodies By Design after searching for a personal trainer and wanting to avoid crossfit after previous experiences. After meeting Fred, I found exactly what I was looking for.

There was no rushing straight into workouts, instead they took the time to make sure I worked my out of shape body up before throwing me into the fire. They remain very cognizant of everyone's abilities and injuries while making sure to push everyone. After just a few months, I went from barely able to finish the warmups to finishing the regular workouts and recovering must faster afterwards. In addition, I was able to lose almost 10lbs of body fat while maintaining my muscles. I look forward to even more improvement in the future.

It's not limited to just workouts but they also help with nutrition. I'm just starting on that journey and look forward to working with them on it.

3 Year Update:
It's been quite a few years and the BBD family has been great. I've made huge improvements in my fitness and health. With combination of working out and meds I've lost over 40lbs. Fred has been great and always checking in to make sure I don't lapse too much on my workouts.

With more consistency, I'm sure I'll continue to lose even more weight and get healthier.

I started with Bodies by Design in December 2022 with my son, Connor. I weighed 439 lbs, and we were both inactive. During COVID, we began walking daily and lost some weight, but after both our physicals showed pre-diabetes, I knew we needed more support.

Connor briefly trained at Gold’s Gym but stopped going. I didn’t join because I felt too heavy and embarrassed. Then I found Bodies by Design and liked the small group sessions led by trainers. Connor agreed to join, and we met with Coach Donavon the next day. We’ve been consistent ever since.

Donavon gave us customized nutrition plans, taught us to track meals, and motivated us at every workout. I lost 84 lbs the first year and felt better—less pain, more mobility, and real lifestyle changes. My first victory was being able to get up off the floor again.

When Connor moved out of state, Donavon gave him a binder of routines, and they still stay in touch. I kept going—now four days a week—and have lost 129 lbs. I wear 3XL instead of 6XL, shop at Walmart instead of DXL, and no longer worry if a chair will hold me.

This is an awesome gym. I had some back issues and hadn’t worked out with weights in a long time so I was concerned about aggravating my condition. This place really focuses on safety through proper form. First there was a PT Dr evaluation of movement followed by a body scan to determine my starting baseline of muscle percentage. Form is everything here and everyone follows the program and is very respectful. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast. Every exercise is explained in detail and they are very patient in explaining the purpose. I’m never too sore not to come to the gym which motivates me to keep coming. They change the workout everyday and I’m never bored running through their circuit. It’s run by true professionals.

I moved to Pflugerville last year shortly after undergoing a surgery. It had been six weeks after my surgery and I was looking into slowly getting back into a fitness routine.

I did a google search for gyms near me in the Pflugerville area and stumbled upon Bodies by Design. With their 5 star rating and only 5 mins away from my house I decided it was worth a consultation!

I met Fred and he immediately made me feel excited for my journey. He told me he could tell I was athletic and was excited to help me get my body back in motion, and listened when I told him I was needing to start slow due to my surgery and overall mental block with fitness due to overtraining in strongman a year or so prior.

That was Oct of last year. My first few months I only made it in about twice a week but even then it has made an incredible difference. I’ve already lost 4% body fat while still gaining 5lbs of muscle. I am a casual runner and was able to run a 10k in December (without walking/stopping), and I was only running about once a week on top of my workouts. I also play sand volleyball at Hanovers on Main Street, as well as some other leagues in Austin, and I can tell how much faster and stronger I’ve become.

Not only are the results amazing but Fred and his team are passionate, inspiring, and caring individuals. They want their clients to be the strongest, healthiest versions of themselves. Every time I’m there I put in so much more work because Fred knows I am stronger and more capable than I think I am. My body has never felt better due to the combination of strength training and mobility/functional fitness built into the workouts.

After seeing the amazing results of only going twice a week I have made a promise to myself to get to the gym as much as I can because I am excited to continue to progress into the athlete I know I am!

I've lost 11 pounds in a month, but that's not even the best part.
I was terrified of working out. I was afraid I'd injure myself. I was sure that, in my 40s, I would damage my body beyond recovery if I tried to exercise. I decided to face that fear. The pros at Bodies By Design met me where I was and helped assure me that we would go at my pace. I even went to their in-house physical therapist (shout-out to Dr. Sam!) to make sure I wasn't going to cause future me any problems by going through the workouts.
At first, I couldn't get through the warmup. Then I would have an emotional breakdown when trying a new exercise.

Before starting BBD, I tried working out at home. But, it wasn’t working. I realized that I needed to be accountable to someone. Coming physically to the gym was daunting at first but I was able to immediately feel like I’m part of the group. The people at BBD are super supportive and want you to win and achieve your goals. Now, I workout 4x a week and it has become a nonnegotiable part of my life. I also love competing with myself to see how much stronger I’ve become each week. I’ve been working one-on-one with Fred Sassani at Bodies by Design, and it’s been a total game changer for me. After struggling with years of chronic illness, I was finally ready to rebuild my overall strength and health—and Fred’s approach has been exactly what I needed.

There is so much to say about being a bodies by design member and all of it is overwhelming positive. I personally never dreamed how working out at a gym with a trainer would have changed my life. However, this isn’t only a gym and Fred, Donovan, and Morgan aren’t only trainers; they’re family.

From the moment you inquire about working out at Bodies by Design, Fred and/or Donovan make you feel like you’re at home. During my first call with Fred we spoke about being physically fit is as important about mental health as being able to lift anything and let meant a lot to me. When my wife and I met with Fred in person for the first time, the energy of Fred is amazing and incredibly contagious; you can’t help but feel inspired.

Personally I’m not a person who loves working out, however I love being treated like family. That’s what drives me to the gym everyday. Seeing all of my family and everyone pushing each other to be the best they can really thrives.

If you’re into data and apps, BBD has it all – the InBody analysis and sit-down with Trainer Fred outlines your full body composition and will track your progress of muscle mass, body fat, etc. The BBD app allows you to easily access the schedule and sign up for classes and keeps a tally of your workouts. They have a great podcast that covers everything from diet to motivation and everything in between.
Something that hasn’t changed in 10+ years is the intensity and focus of the workouts. I love the traditional weight lifting mixed with higher intensity intervals. Every workout is different and you’re always using different equipment. Trainer Fred focuses on form and the mind-muscle connection so you can really concentrate on the muscles you’re targeting while minimizing risk of injury.
Lastly, the best part -- the culture of BBD is unparalleled. There is a mix of all ages and fitness levels and everyone is so encouraging, welcoming, and positive. With the start of a new year, I decided that I wanted to make a change from the typical diet I had been on to something different and challenging. I was looking specifically for something to help increase my muscle mass and flexibility while hopefully decreasing my body fat. After a little research, I ran across Bodies by Design and reached out to them via their website. Within the hour, I received a call back from Trainer Fred asking me to come in and check out their gym. That evening, I went down to meet him and then showed me around gym while thoroughly explained their process. Even though I came with a list of questions, I never got the opportunity to ask them just because he had answered everything already. I soon started the workouts and wow, even though they are extremely challenging, they are really fun too. Trainer Fred gives his expertise at every working, explaining everything from the stretches prior to starting the workout to the exercises we will be performing in detail. He remains with his class during the entire workout walking around monitoring everyone. If he notices something you are doing that does not look correct, he will stop you to explain what you could be doing wrong along with what needs to be done to improve it. This is in no way done in a negative manner, as Trainer Fred is truly committed to not only get everyone into the possible best shape, but also to prevent any type of injury. That is something you will not find in any other gym. I highly suggest that if you are looking for a change in your life, please give Bodies by Design a chance. If you’re looking for accountability, long term results and a place that feels like family, this is the place to be!

I joined BBD early February of 2024 and came from a history of online and in person fitness coaching programs, yoga classes and at home self paced workouts. I have also used MyFitnessPal to track calories and lose weight that way. In the 3 months I’ve been with the BBD team I’ve been able to go on hikes which is something I love doing, I feel more energized every day, I’m eating better, sleeping better and most importantly, it has impacted my emotional and mental health 💯. I’ve seen more substantial and overall results with their program than with anything else I’ve tried in the past. The main reason? Accountability.

What Fred and the team explain from the very first day is that you won’t get anywhere without accountability. The team is going to make sure that you do things correctly and avoid any possible injuries during workouts. They take the time to teach you the correct and safe way to do each exercise and handle any kind of equipment. This has made my experience a very humbling one since unlearning bad habits or old perceptions on how workouts should look like is never easy, however, in a very graceful.. and 😜 fun way they make it easy to accomplish along with their incredible skill set.

The gym itself has all the equipment one needs to complete the task, and what’s even more special is that we get to support each other as we achieve our results. Everyone cares for each other and champions each other’s successes.

Coach Fred and Coach Donovan are first rate - they are knowledgeable, observant and will modify your workout to ensure you push yourself in a healthy way. Their training knowledge and oversight is invaluable.

I attend about twice a week - The classes are one hour long but no two classes have been the same in terms of content and exercises. The classes are typically in a small group session format.

BBD is also active in supporting and interacting in the community from putting on open free sessions every couple of weeks to donating money and time to St Jude’s and other community groups.

Pros: - Trainer Donavan was very motivated, he asked me a lot of questions to understand what my goals are and explained clearly how he can help me achieve my goals.
Cons: - If you call the phone number on the website, it always goes to voice mail and your calls are never returned back. I and my husband went to the gym twice before even we could talk to someone in detail about their membership plans. They don't offer any trial class and they want you to sign a 12 month agreement. They do not have different types of packages such as 3 classes/week or unlimited classes/week. There is only one plan and it is super super costly. The package includes nutrition guidance. Since the price is not affordable, we decided not to go for it. But if someone can afford, I believe you can see some good results.

Edit: - Coach Fred reached out to me and apologized for not returning my calls and he seemed to really care about his business. So I am changing my rating from 2 to 4.

BBD is the absolute best if you are looking for a gym that is inclusive of all ages, body types, and backgrounds. I have trained with trainers Ninette and Fred over the years. They really know their stuff especially when it comes to preventing injury and they work closely with you to modify the work out if you have preexisting injuries. This year I joined Fred’s crew and he checked in frequently on my preexisting back and knee issues. We made sure to modify movements like lunges and dead lifts to movements that worked out the same muscle group but didn’t aggravate my back and knees. Now that those muscle groups are much stronger I can do much more than I have ever been able to in the gym. The small group training format gives you the feel and attention of a personal trainer but is much more affordable. I moved away 3 years ago and when I came back last year I was at my heaviest I have ever been. BBD welcomed me back with open arms. I dropped a lot of weight, I feel better than ever, and I can’t stop checking myself out in the mirror. I would give BBD 6 stars if I could.

I notice changes in my body; I’m getting muscles, I’m more confident, I eat better, and I WANT to be better because I want to do it, not because I should or because it’s the healthy thing to do. I used to have a small nutritional education and only knew what I would google or hear through the grapevine; I never understood it or what it all meant.
Since joining Bodies By Design, I have had the opportunity to learn about nutrition, what all of the terminologies mean, and what foods I should eat to meet my goals. And it’s easy to do that when you have such amazing people surrounding you. The coaches are amazing and genuinely take the time to get to know and understand you as a person. All of the people who you work out with and are a part of the fitness family are so kind and welcoming. I’ve never seen someone upset or disappointed that they were working out; everyone is happy to be there. I no longer have a fear of working out with others because everyone there is so supportive, and we feel like one team. This is amazing because I was a former athlete, and I always craved being a part of some team and competing in some way. So now, I have my Bodies By Design family/team, who always pushes me to reach my full potential. Bodies by Design has transformed the way I view exercise. My mindset has changed from hating the gym and the growing pains associated with a commitment to fitness, to embracing the discomfort and seeking the feeling of strength that comes at the end of a vigorous workout. I started my fitness journey 2 years ago at Bodies by Design. I joined on advice from my doctor in hopes of improving my sleep. The first year I was able to stop taking a sleeping pill that I had been taking for over 10 years. The second year, my doctor took me off my sleep apnea machine because I didn’t need it anymore. Coaches at BBD are the best!!! After playing basketball my freshman year in HS, I hadn’t taken care of my body like I wanted. Fast forward 10 years later and this place has me feeling like I’m back!!! In about a year, I’ve gained about 10 lbs in muscle and lost some of the body fat I wanted to lose for a while. Fred does an excellent job of ensuring proper form and the best part is we do dynamic warm ups. Hard to find a gym that stresses importance on warm up as much as the workouts. I’ve been training at BBD since July and I love it. I love to work out and I’ve tried many gyms over the years, but BBD really has it all. It has state of the art equipment like rogue racks, ski ergs, and air runners, extremely knowledgeable coaches, and an incredible community of members. I absolutely LOVE this gym! I have never been so motivated to work out consistently in my life. This place has changed all of that for me. The results that I am already seeing after less than 90 days are amazing! And none of this would be the case if it wasn't for Coach D. I have had other coaches and trainers throughout the years but none have made me actually enjoy what I'm doing more than Coach D. Even though we're in a small group setting he really works to get to know each and every one of us and what our specific needs are. He is extremely knowledgeable and applies that to create training programs that are never the same. When you show up for your session you never know what you're going to be doing! It keeps things fresh and engaging. You can tell he really loves what he does and that kind of attitude is contagious! As an ex professional athlete, I can honestly say that you cannot go wrong with Bodies by Design! They are amazing and below is my story to explain my opinion.

A little over eight years ago I was hired to help start a company and basically became a "workaholic". Unfortunately, about a year after starting the company I had to have major abdominal surgery which resulted in a hernia the following year. To add on to the misery, I had already been diagnosed with 4 herniated discs due to the wear and tear of sports. Yep, you guessed it, I became the most sedentary person.

Last year, I was challenged by my niece, okay well she really tricked me but it worked. We went snorkeling in the Caribbean and I had a panic attack (due to being so out of shape) which did not settle well with my niece. Therefore, when we got back she went and sought out a new gym. I asked her how it went, she said it went great and was so excited. I told her maybe I should try it, she said well I don't know they will fire clients (she was kidding of course, but I didn't know that). As you see, there was the challenge!!

I called the next day and I have never regretted that decision!!! At first, it was very difficult for me, I could barely sit down and get up on my own from a floor exercise. Nonetheless, I kept going back and I can say that it was the best decision of my adult life! I do not know where I would be without BBD! I can actually do jumping jacks, jog and even walk without tripping and falling down!

I have literally had an umph number of trainers and gyms but the trainers at BBD are the best ever! They took the time to understand what I had gone through, and to ensure that I eased into the exercises and learned them correctly. I felt a part of a "Team". After playing basketball for so many years it felt great to have that "Team" feeling again. Not only does BBD have phenomenal Trainers ever, they also have amazing physical therapists and massage therapists on site.

If you are reading this review you probably may have already noticed the significant amount of other five star reviews by now. There is a reason for this. Below are the details of my experience at Bodies By Design.

I have worked with my trainer Fred from day one and all I can say is that the overall guidance and fitness plan provided to me is simply on point. I had never been to a gym before and Fred understood this. He closely watched me and at any time I was struggling, he would help me adjust. If at any time he found that I was completing the exercise with ease, he would add more complexity to the movement or weight to keep my results coming. Each month I found that not only my body changed, but my mind as well.

Long story short, I was recently awarded the Transformation Client of the Year award in this gym and friends and family are surprised I am even the same person. At the beginning of my journey I weighed close to 230 pounds. Today I weigh 161 pounds and am at about 18% body fat. I am aiming for 14% and plan to achieve that this year. I have a desk job where I sit and work at a computer all day. I discovered the effectiveness (and enjoyability) of high intensity boot camp style fitness programs several years ago so was very particular in what I wanted when looking for a place to work out after two years of "vegging." There are several gyms in the community at large that offer this type programming but what drew me to the Bodies by Design Workout Room was the "private and semi-private" training offered, something I'd not yet experienced. How was this going to happen in a boot camp (group) setting? As I've only been at BBD 5-weeks, my interpretation of this so far is: workout sessions are conducted in a group, usually less than 10 people (semi-private), and one on one training for technique/tweaking (private) as needed occurring as well. Sounds good to me! So far I've improved my balance and my strength is increasing. My mental state after a workout is pretty high. Anyway, similar to most all reviews I've read, BBD trainers/coaches are well trained and certified in many areas so you know you are working with professionals in reaching your fitness and health goals. They are passionate about what they do and the relationships they foster with clients - many who have been for 10+ years - and in the community. A fit family at its best! Change is a simple decision to make but hard one to honor. If you are ready for it, BBD will take you where you are and get you places you didn't think possible.

BBD is more than a gym. It's a supportive community. Every individual I meet at BBD is friendly and welcoming. I started training with Fred in July. I had worked out before with a trainer that was not at the same level and I can see the results of consistently working out with a professional. The training sessions are efficient but do not interpret that to mean that they are easy. Each workout is challenging. Fred explains how these exercises help you in your day to day life. If you need assistance with your nutrition, BBD can help. If you have an injury, BBD can help. A few months ago, I had a tightness in my lower back. Fred showed me stretches to loosen up my muscles and modified the exercises while my back healed. Do not be intimidated by weight training. I can honestly say that Bodies By Design has changed how I think and feel about working out and what a gym can offer. I reached out to Bodies By Design in March before my June wedding hoping to get some help losing those last few pounds to look like the perfect bride. I figured I would join, get some personal training for a few months, and then go back to my old habits.

I have been working out at BBD for almost 9 months.

I was a college varsity athlete from 2004 - 2008 so I've spent most of my life in relatively good shape which is easy when you're burning 7500+ calories per day.

After college and soccer, I started doing compound weight-lifting. I gained a decent amount of muscle mass, but mass came at the cost of muscle endurance, flexibility, and injury.

Crossfit eventually came along, but I was turned off from that almost immediately. I knew I wanted to transition to more HIIT-focused training, but it seemed like the only real option was crossfit so it was back to compound lifts for me. (I will spare you my crossfit rant)

This was until I started working with Fred at BBD. Fred opened my eyes to a lot of things I have been doing incorrectly or redundantly the last decade. Fred showed me ways to utilize my workouts more efficiently, not just for aesthetics, but also to be able to play a pick-up basketball or soccer game today without worrying about pulling a hamstring or tearing my shoulder after the first shot.

Over the last 9+ months my flexibility has increased significantly. Muscle endurance is the best it's been in my entire life and I have the knowledge of how to train effectively.

If you're stuck in a rut or plateauing doing the same compound lifts year after year, but are put off by the nonsense of crossfit, BBD is the place to go.

Although you are in a small team, your workout is specifically designed around your own needs and goals.

Coach Donovan does more then tell you your workout for the session, he takes the time to explain the workout and shows you the proper form. I am not the average 41-year-old mom who wanted to get back in shape.
I have been living with metastatic breast cancer for over 8 years, have had three brain surgeries and a bone marrow transplant, so to say I needed to be handled differently is an understatement!

Since I joined Bodies By Design 2 months ago I’ve made a commitment to a much needed lifestyle change. Can’t say enough how BBD is amazing. I started my journey in January of this year on my own not really knowing what I was doing. Felt like I was wasting my time at the gym. All I knew was I was craving for a change and for the first time in 15yrs I was mentally ready for a it. After 2 months or so I wasn’t really seeing much improvement on my own. I was becoming discouraged and knew I needed something different. I came across BBD on FB and decided to try their 28 day boot camp challenge and was instantly hooked! I started at BBD with my wife about 6 months ago, and can't say enough great things about this gym. I've been through several at-home workout programs over the last 10 years, but could never maintain them for more than a couple months... Due to distractions and lack of motivation. A few years back, while on yet another weight training app, I pulled a lower back muscle at a regular gym doing deadlifts, not knowing the proper form or how much weight to use. Since then, I had reocurring flare-ups and days on end of constant pain. Starting with BBD was a huge step for me, since I hadn't ever tried a bootcamp-style gym class with a trainer. I'm so happy we did!! Not only has my lower back pain subsided (with a stonger core), but I've now stuck with a fitness program/community longer than anything else before. This does a number on self confidence and motivation. I look forward to the gym (which I never thought I'd say) for the at-your-own-pace, yet challenging workouts, and for the great community that comes along with it. Fred and Donovan have been awesome trainers for the evening bootcamp classes, and always mix up the exercises so you'll never get bored doing the same things! I honestly did not know what I was getting into when I started with BBD. I knew I needed to make changes in my life and had no idea how to start. I needed to lose weight, exercise and make a commitment to save and extend my life.
What I have found is trainers that are there, in every class, hands on demonstrations. Coaching me, until I understand and can be successful in the exercise. I have worked with Fred and Donovan. Both have trained with safety in mind, so we are not harming ourselves by doing the exercises incorrectly.

Bodies By Design is AMAZING! I can't imagine a trainer being any better than Fred. BBD offers a variety of exercise choices from boot camps to 1 on 1 training. In the past I have worked with several trainers and nothing has come close to the experience I have had at BBD. I have never had coaches that truly care about every aspect of my fitness journey from the initial meeting, to the training, nutrition and the accountability that has been put in place to make sure I will keep up my end of the bargain. Oh, wow, where can I start? I have been battling with my weight for years. It has always been up and down, I could never consistently stick with a fitness routine, and I was battling with depression and anxiety because I was so unhappy with my physical and emotional state... When I first spoke to Fred on the phone, he was kind and compassionate. He made it clear to me that I had to put in the work and that everyone at BBD is family. I cant wait to see what the next few months have in store for me. Did I also mention that my depression and anxiety are practically non-existent now? I used to take medication and it wouldn't help! Now, I'm working out, surrounding myself with positive influence and people and my whole mindset has changed!
Just recently, I Skyped with my step mother who lives out of country, and she gave me the biggest compliment... She said, " Franchesca, I can see the light in your eyes again." I had lost that and it's so true, I have regained that and so much more working with Fred and his team... I now have the confidence to continue to push forward. I truly feel like part of the family... If you are at your wits end, feeling like you have lost that light, and need a drastic change, come here! You will get results if you put in the work and do what you're told. Not only that but you will be part of a supportive and uplifting family! Update: As of 1/21/18, I am down 66lbs, and have dropped 4 dress sizes..My range of motion and movement has greatly improved, and I no longer have any pain in my knees. I can do a deep squat with zero knee pain! Never in a million years did I think that would be possible...Aside from the obvious physical change, my mind is clearer and I’m in a better place mentally. Everyone tells me I look happier. That’s probably the biggest compliment I could ever receive. This places really does change lives y’all... Check it out!

I came to Bodies by Design five years ago. I was overweight, my self-esteem was tanked, I was miserable in my own skin and I knew I needed a change. I was so skeptical and nervous about going to a gym and it took a lot of online research to bring me to meet with Coach Donovan Owens. I do not like gyms (or, at least, I didn't then) because I've always felt self-conscious and didn't know what I was doing. Well, Bodies by Design is not your average gym. The coaches there are incredible and truly care about each and every client they train, you are not just a dollar sign to them. They inspired me to work harder and see that I was capable of achieving so much. I have lost weight, gained a lot of strength and muscle and my self-esteem and outlook on life is back. I ran into a friend a few years ago and saw what an amazing transformation she had made with herself.  I wanted to know what she had been doing and she shared her BBD story with me.  Seeing her excitement and transformation made me want to find out what this place was all about.  I submitted an inquiry and Fred contacted me to set up an appointment.  After meeting with Fred and going through an assessment I knew this was a place I wanted to be a part of.  Having a prior back injury was a concern for me, but the trainers coached me on proper lifting techniques and stretches to strengthen my back.   The trainers are experienced to work with any type of injury you may have.  I had a set-back in the gym due to my back injury and had to take some time off from the gym.  I began feeling defeated and feeling I wouldn’t be able to return to the gym.   My trainer was constantly checking in on me to see how I was recovering and when I could return to the gym.  After 2-3 months I returned to the gym and listened to all of the training advice the trainers were recommending.   The trainers genuinely care about your well being and want to help you achieve a healthier lifestyle.  One thing I am so thankful for is the confidence my BBD trainer Donovan gave me to overcome mental obstacles and pursue a goal of competing in the Festivus Games competition.  I only had 3 weeks of training before the competition, but with my trainer and partners support we were able to compete and take 1st place!  Not bad for a 52 year old competing with much younger competitors.  I love this gym, it is my home away from home!   Everyone supports and encourages each other through the accomplishments and struggles.  If you are looking for a no judgement gym where you will be supported, but held accountable, pick up the phone or send in an inquiry and come check out what you are missing out on.

I recently started workouts at Bodies By Design about 4 months ago. I have really been pleased by the results that I achieved in a short period of time. I came to the gym after suffering a 2nd back injury. I was suffering from some sciatica on my left leg from this recent injury. I was feeling pretty depressed since I have already had surgery once on my back to remove a cyst due to a disc rupture several years ago. I started a 28 day challenge with Bodies By Design in October. The first couple of weeks was pretty rough I have to admit but I stuck with it and at the end of the 3rd week my sciatic nerve pain had calmed down very significantly. I was able to lose 8 pounds during the 28 day challenge as well. I really believe that listening to the trainers about nutrition is key. The hardest part is just getting to the gym. Once you are there the trainers work with you during the workouts and focus you within your ability. You do not to have to figure out what to do after you get there, the trainers lead you through everything. I really believe that continuing to work on my fitness with BBD will lead me to success in avoiding a second surgery on my back. I state this on how I have felt over the last few months compared to the few months after my injury. I feel confident that I am on the right path to recovery. I would definitely recommend the gym to anyone considering getting back into shape that is struggling with injuries or even motivation. I definitely struggled with motivation myself. My wife has been a BBD member for a couple of years now. BBD has helped her to achieve many of her fitness goals. She really inspired me to try to get fit rather than deal with the surgeons again. So far so good. Hopefully my results continue to improve. I believe that they will.

I absolutely love this gym! I came here to check it out and to just try out a jumpstart program they offered... I’ve never regretted a moment of it. I was so scared at first, since I had previously tried other boot camps and gyms before, but this was so not like that at all. This gym has become my second home. I’ve never felt out of place or felt gym-timitated. Everyone supports each other here and help show you that you can do it! I’m not going to lie, I fell off for a bit but that was on me. The trainers were genuinely caring about me and my well being and guided me back. Since then, with their guidance and encouragement, I have lost 22lbs since Thanksgiving. Before starting with Bodies By Design I was jumping around from gym to gym. I tried CrossFit, Orange Theory, and the traditional gyms. Every program had something I liked but they were all incomplete and missing something. As a former collegiate athlete I value a fitness program that is complete in all area's with high level coaching. That’s exactly what I found when I walked in Bodies By Design. The atmosphere is welcoming, the coaches are experienced and extremely knowledgeable. I came to bodies by design in a bit of a rut. I enjoyed weight lifting in the past but hadn't been able to stay consistent with workouts after moving to Austin a year and half ago. I started working out with Donovan. The sessions were challenging, in a good way! The small group atmosphere makes you want to go workout. I've been able to get my consistency back. I've been going to BBD for 8 months. The experience has been amazing. My job is pretty demanding and making time for the gym was difficult. I made countless excuses on why I didn't make all the time...until they did a 30 day challenge...they have many more programs but this really turned me around. The dedication and availability of the trainers has and continues to be an incredible encouragement. Additionally, they have cultivated a family atmosphere where the people you workout with encourage you. I originally trained with Fred Sassani and Bodies by Design over 10 years ago. I am a runner and have had some type of workout program most of my life..until I torn my ACL and had to have surgery. My surgeon told me that I would never do certain exercises again and that I should learn to accept my limitations. February 2015 forever changed the way I worked out or so i thought. I returned to Bodies by Design two years after my surgery in not so great shape but determined to get back what i once had. May 2017 I met with Fred Sassani who told me he would help me achieve my goals! It's now one year and three months later and I am well on my way to achieving the impossible. My get fit journey started two and a half months ago , I had a gym membership and noticed I was paying for nothing because I wouldn’t go it was boring,I needed something more ! I found this place and within two months I noticed i have more energy and I can see my legs,shoulders and arms are starting to get lean ! Oh and I can’t leave out how my butt is more round and firm my butt lifted!!! For the first time in years I went out in a dress with confidence and it’s only been 2 months! I joined Bodies By Design in 2010 right after I finished physical therapy for ankle surgery. I had been living in Texas for 2 years and had gotten a bit out of shape from all the good food. I had never belonged to a gym before but knew I needed someone who would keep me accountable, not just a gym membership that I may or may not use. Boy did I find what I was looking for! This is more than a gym. It is a group of friends who keep you wanting to show up and bug you when don't! The trainers and the other people there give you the nutrition education you need and the support you want. I lost 5% of my body fat in the first 3 months and am now down to 19% body fat which is amazing for being over 40 years old. Not to mention the muscle I have gained. When I decided to check into Bodies By Design facility, I had been trying to exercise and lose weight on my own, but I found that I was unable to take myself to that next level. Because I had “experience” in exercise and healthy eating, I felt as though there was nothing new I could learn. That was not the case! I also found the Bodies By Design family to be welcoming, challenging, and goal-oriented. I never get bored! Unfortunately, about 6 months into my training, I injured my knee while playing volleyball with my family. My trainer, though, encouraged me to continue coming to the gym, and he individualized my training to fit my needs. I know that my injury would have been much worse if I hadn't already been fit, thanks to Bodies By Design, and in addition, my recovery went much faster with my trainer. Having been a college athlete my goal when looking for a gym was not weight loss but to gain muscle mass that I’d lost over the years.
I’ve now been working out here for 6 months and have started seeing results. Not only have I gained muscle back but have increase energy levels.
I look forward to each workout,with every workout being a full body workout. There are no “leg” days and the trainers focus on technique and form, instead of amount of reps or weight. The workouts have remained challenging and vary from body weight to heavy lifting. I can’t recommend this gym and the trainers enough!

When I came to Bodies by Design in May 2014 I had already lost some weight on my own at home. Why would anyone go to a gym if they had been successful on their own you ask? My motivation was at a standstill and I was stuck and frustrated. I knew I couldn’t do it by myself anymore. Fred walked me through the basics and took the time to get to know me and help me refocus my goals. This was all before I even joined the gym. I found an amazing tribe of supportive people of all ages and sizes who cheer each other on not only during workouts but in life.
Fast forward to October 2016 about 6 months after I had my sweet baby girl. I hadn’t been to the gym since a few months into my pregnancy. After an unfortunate series of events, I was suffering with postpartum anxiety and I barely recognized the woman in the mirror. As a stay at home mom I felt isolated and I knew I had to do something different. I returned to the gym where Fred and my gym family greeted me with open arms. I started doing boot camp with Donovan and met more welcoming people. The first year or so I really struggled to let go of the anxiety and regain my self confidence. Every time I took a few steps forward in my progress I suffered personal loss after loss. I was in a season of hurt and heartbreak where I was treading water and trying to keep my head above the waves. In all of that pain I realized I to had release my desire to be in control, and I learned to let go of this idea that I had to be perfect. I finally learned I was wasting time chasing this idea of perfection that only existed in my head.
Instead of trying to recreate who I once was I decided to only look forward. Small victories at the gym reminded me that I’m in charge of my happiness. Now I am really enjoying this transition from one version of myself to another. Bodies by Design has done so much more for me than just help me lose weight and help me commit to eating healthier. I feel blessed to have a place with amazing trainers and friends who simultaneously inspire me to gain inner fortitude while encouraging me to build my physical strength.

If you're ready to move your fitness goals from a hope to a reality, stop by and visit the trainers at Bodies By Design. I've lost weight, significantly reduced my body fat content, take NO medications any longer, and feel better in my late 50s than I have in decades.

But that's not the best of it - under their guidance I have adopted a lifestyle that keeps me active so I can do the things I put off long ago waiting to "feel like it." My relationship with Donovan is not limited to matters inside the gym -- his persistent advocacy for me to drive healthy changes has been a difference maker.

About a year and a half ago, I was at my lowest point in my life. The numbers on the scale kept increasing. Everyday, I felt draggy and fatigued.
I had reached a point of no return and it was time to take action.
One of my neighbors recommended BBD.
She was enrolled in the “boot camp” and noticed successful changes in her body.
Being located about two or three miles away from home, I agreed to check BBD out. Very quickly, I discovered BBD was not your ordinary gym. I enrolled in the small class session with Coach Donovan. I remember being unable to keep up with my workout at first since I was so out of shape.
In addition to the workout sessions, Coach Donovan made some recommendations about my nutrition and I changed some aspects of my diet. It is important to note these changes are now permanent. Slowly, I started feeling better and more energized. Pounds were shedding and I looked better in the mirror, which increased my intellectual presence and my confidence level. At my annual check up, my doctor was so proud of me. All of my numbers for my blood work improved. What keeps me walking through the door even on my "lazy days" is the amazing coaches, the sense of community, the accountability and knowing that I won’t regret it. indeed, I always feel better after my workout. So far, I’ve lost 20 pounds and I’m working on losing the next 10.

Bodies by Design (BBD) takes the whole person approach to fitness. The work out regiment is very rigorous however the motivation from the trainers are great. I started my dedication to my fitness journey with a 30 day transformation challenge about 6 months ago and decided to continue with the group training program at BBD. There have been days when I absolutely did not want to go and workout however the motivation and support that I have received from the trainers and other clients helps me power through these times, it is definitely a family atmosphere. BBD constantly reinforces the fact that half the challenge to maintaining a healthy workout program is to simply "Show up". My workouts are now more intentional and I have experienced double digit losses in body fat and weight. BBD's fundraisers and promotions to support charities like St. Judes Children's Hospital also reinforces their commitment to the total person and not just being a "gym". I walked into BBD one evening with my husband and my 6 month old, not knowing what to expect but in desperate need to get my life back. At the time I was still recovering from a C section, weak knees and lower back issues needless to say insomnia and fatigue. In trying to cope with the situation my husband and I took to food for comfort and ate out a lot, before we knew it each of us had gained a good 30 lbs which worsened the situation. That's when we realized we needed help.
What I saw when I walked through those doors for the first time was a bunch of motivated men and women really sweating it out. My first reaction .. Serious intimidation. For someone who has not done more than hopping on and off the treadmill, lifting weights was a herculean task. Trainer Fred saw me perplexed as I stared at one of the ladies lift 200 lbs, he walked up to me and said she's 50. My jaws dropped, I wanted to be that fit at 50. I knew we were at the right place and we've never looked back since. Its been a year and Trainer Fred and Coach D are just as motivating and encouraging as they were when we started. I am 15 lbs lighter and my husband close to 30 lbs. My back feels better and my knees have are the strongest they've ever been. I am now capable of doing things I could never have imagined. Since our wedding 4 years ago, I have gained over 60 pounds and lost interest in a lot of things we used to do before we got married. I was obese, unhappy, and being only 29 knew I was too young to live life like this. We have done crash diets like the Ketosis diet and the GM diet to lose weight and yes, we did and gained all that weight back and even more. Back then, I used to run 4 miles every day and used to do Hot Yoga. I have never lifted weights in my life and thought I was doing my workouts the right way until, I joined Bodies By design. When I walked into this studio and saw the success stories all over the wall, my wife and I knew we were in the right place. We were determined from day one to give it our 100% and see where this takes us. We joined BBD in February and I have lost over 20 Pounds and my wife has lost over 15 pounds. We could have never done this on our own and we owe this all to our amazing trainers at BBD. The trainers at BBD have more than 15 years of experience and bring all their skills and experience to our sessions every evening. They are very focused on us as their clients and drive us to be our best.
We have had personal trainers before at Gold's Gym and other private Gyms who were all money minded and did not really care about us as clients. BBD is no comparison to what one would experience at other gyms. The trainers here at BBD are not focused on how much you can lift or how many reps you do but on technique and posture which is very beneficial to us down the line. Three years ago, I started working out at BBD. I arrived at the gym a little broken, having realized that my ongoing shoulder issues were a result of the training program I was doing not being a fit for me. The previous three years had been a series of injuring one shoulder then the other until after visiting a physical therapist, I learned that I had muscles in my back that were not “firing” at all. Instead of my scapula rotating the way it should, the smaller muscles of my shoulders were trying to do the work. Every time I laid off and healed, I would reinjure myself, alternating between one shoulder and the other. This continued re-injury was a result of repetitively trying to do movements without correct form. I knew that I had to be picky about who I trained with and how I trained.

Enter BBD. From the first day, Fred saw that my back muscles weren’t working together and repeatedly fixed my form and worked with me to do the right thing the right way. These corrections included simple movements and complex movements. Everything I thought I *knew*, Fred could make a little better.

More than just fixing my form and helping me grow strong, Fred has encouraged me to raise my expectations for myself and make health conscious decisions in my everyday life. I have become focused on eating the right things to fuel my body. Fred meets his clients where they are and helps them hold themselves accountable for the results they achieve. For me, this had resulted in about a 12 lb loss over a 2-3 month period. While that may not sound flashy like the “instant” success promised in a whatever fad currently being advertised, consider that using the InBody Test that Fred makes available to his client, I can see how much my muscle mass changes as I lose weight. The desire is to retain or even gain muscle while losing fat, which I have done because of the strength training with Fred.

By changing my eating habits and ensuring regular exercise, I have also gone from a pre-diabetic A1C of 5.9 to a “normal” level of 5.6.

I'm not really one to write reviews... however, I do feel the need to spread the word about a place that I can truly say has changed me for the better! I've been working out at body's by design workout room for about a month now and man do I see/feel a difference in my body AND mentality. My mom was the major push factor in me going to this place, but to be completely honest I wasn't interested because I was a part of a huge commercialized gym and thought that nothing could get better than that..... but boy was I wrong lol. The BBD workout room is designed to not only get you in the best physical shape but to educate you each step of the way. being 20 years old I thought I couldn't be in any better shape however, I didn't know how uniformed I was on most movements and how I was doing them wrong. After working with Fred, I'm now discovering strength and muscles in places I never thought I would have allllll while being pushed to be the best version of myself. sure, it's not the huge gym with the indoor/outdoor pools BUT what it does have is some of the BEST trainers I have ever come across. Are you that person that feels like you got the "lucky" genes? You know the one that you can eat anything and NOT gain weight. Well, that's who I USED to be. When I walked into BBD in December I wanted to just join a gym because I thought I needed that little extra push. I'm a nurse so naturally 3 days out of the week for 12 hours I'm running around doing some type of cardio workout. What I didn't know was as I was walking into the gym I was weighing 134 lbs with 41% body fat and I'm in my early 20s!!! Yes, you read that right. I'm 5'1 and up until that point I was happy with my size 6 self. What I didn't realize was how unhealthy I truly was and how much it was affecting my body. For the first month and a half Fred and I were watching my heart rate crucially. I would be ten minutes into a workout and it would be in the 180s. I felt as though all the weight was around my heart and if I had to do one more workout it was going to explode! Fast forward three months I'm down 10% of my original body fat and 10 lbs down. I workout 3-5 days a week and my heart rate is better controlled. Thanks to everyone at BBD I am conscious of what I eat and I drink 90 oz of water a day!!!!! The best part is when you join this gym you join our family. We push each other to get better and when we don't see one another at a workout we are quick to text to make sure everyone is ok! In September 2015, I walked into Bodies by Design on the advice of a former teacher friend of mine. I can remember that just going through the warm up was hard. I can remember that I couldn’t do a push up. I remember that the weights and the ropes and the tires looked intimidating. But, slowly and steadily, I got stronger and found my groove. I can remember during one of my first couple of workouts, my trainer mentioned in passing that the weight would “melt off” if I did x, y, and z. I can remember thinking “I doubt it”.

For as long as I can remember, my weight has been something I have struggled with and it’s been a source of self-judgment. I have not been confident and I have not loved myself. I wanted weight to come off, but I was doing nothing to work on the inside.

I was working out hard, three to five times a week for an hour at a time, burning a lot of calories, and the weight was not melting off. I was frustrated, so I stepped back and left the gym.

After being away for a few months, I really missed working out and decided to join a different gym that was closer to home. I was enjoying working out again and I was starting to feel better physically and physiologically.

One day in December I got a text message from a friend that I took personally and it really hurt my feelings. It shouldn’t have and was not intended to hurt, but the reality of what was said stung. I felt like I needed to workout right then and workout hard…and there was only one place that I knew where that would happen. That night, I walked back into BBD and I haven’t looked back since. I needed the welcome that I received that night. My trainer and I sat down the next day and he asked me if I was serious about coming back. He challenged me to re-read The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz and journal EVERY DAY, writing a list of what I was grateful for, including things about myself. I had to read the book and I owed him a completed journal for the remaining days in December by the beginning of January.

He held me accountable and I had to show him my journal that first week of January. Accountability is something I need, and he doesn’t lie to me, which I need. I can fully trust that the words he says to me are 100% truth. If he’s calling me out on something, it’s true. If he says I can do something, I can.

I’ve learned that I am beautiful just the way I am. I realized that I am strong and I can do things I never thought I could do. I can do a push up and I can do a hamstring curl on a stability ball. I can do several of them, actually, and I couldn’t even do one this time last year. I remember. I can feel the muscles in my legs and arms. I am setting a healthy living lifestyle for my girls and they are seeing a mom that loves herself and works to be fit and healthy. I have learned there’s more to weight loss than food…it’s a process that starts on the inside.

If you want an environment where you will be encouraged and loved for who you are, if you want a place where you will make gains mentally, as well as physically, and if you want to be held accountable, BBD is the place for you!

I was THE poster child for quick gimmick diets and fads that promised to give you incredible results. I have been a member to every gym in the vicinity, some are open 24 hours. Some are cheap. Some even have "personal trainers.” Every time the same result nothing gained or lost.
Then I discovered Bodies by Design Workout room from a friend and decided to give it one more go. I was lost, intimidated and scared. I have been a member since April 2016 and have been working with Coach D (Donovan). Before joining BBD I was extremely overweight , always tired and had no energy. My ankles would get swollen all the time, I would be out of breath just walking to my car or walking up a flight of stairs and I would snore at night because of my sleep apnea. I just felt very unhealthily and pretty much ate anything. I did not like the way I looked and I had a hard time finding clothes that fit. I decided to join BBD because I needed to change my life and get back in shape for myself but most importantly for my family. Joining was the BEST decision I made. Since joining I have more energy , lost 25 lbs. and built more lean muscle. My blood pressure has done down and I no longer snore. I had to purchase new clothes because everything I had was too big. My story didn't start here, but I ended up exactly where I needed to be. I'm a disabled Veteran. My back is a wreck of bulged discs and degeneration. I'm writing this review on Veterans Day because it seems fitting that while I take some time to reflect on my service, I also reflect on my journey back to health. Almost a year ago to date I slipped and fell in my hotel room while I was working out of state. My back had locked up, not for the first time, and I was fortunate enough to reach my phone and dial 911. It took 4 firefighters to get me on a gurney and to the hospital. I wasn't huge, but I was overweight. I had to change.

I recovered enough that by February, with the support of my Wife, I sought out BBD. It was intense, it was hard, and it was great. We go together.

At month 2 I was down 20lbs and I still hurt, but I could MOVE. I can't stress that enough. I could sit, stand, walk, and even do a little jog. The workouts were still hard, still painful, but so satisfying. Our Trainers worked with me to build strength around my disability, not avoid it. It works.

Today I am down 50lbs, but the weight loss isn't the real win. The real win is the change in myself. I FEEL like me again. I am living my life in control of my pain, not "managing" it like my doctors told me too. The bottom line is if you want to change YOU through fitness and nutrition this is your new home.

I came to Bodies by Design a little over a year ago with some encouragement from a friend who had recently joined. Having heard nothing but positive things about the gym environment and how encouraging the trainers and other clients were, I decided to check it out. I was overweight, unhappy, and knew that I was too young to be living my life that way. It was time for a change. I met with Fred Sassani and it didn’t take much persuasion for me to know that I belonged at Bodies by Design! Unfortunately, I had to deal with some injuries along the way, but Fred was always there to help me work through them and heal faster.

I went from eating out all of the time to prepping healthy and nutritious meals every week. This was definitely a challenge for me at the beginning, since I never cooked and if I did, it wasn’t always the healthiest dish. The biggest and most important thing I learned was that this isn’t just a quick fix, it’s a lifestyle change and one that I desperately needed.

I have been a client of Bodies by Design for 3 years and when I got pregnant, I instantly thought of all those sayings about weird food cravings, swollen feet, and lots of weight gain. With that in mind, I set forth a plan to continually work out during and after my pregnancy to ensure I wouldn’t become one of those negative pregnancy stories. The great trainers at Bodies by Design, through their active participation in my pregnancy goals and encouragement, worked with me every step of way. If I wasn't able to do an exercise, they made a modification to always keep me moving and motivated. I've lost 30lbs, lowered my body fat percentage, and have a lot more energy than I did 8 months ago when I showed up for my first BBD workout. I'm also stronger, more confident and happier than I've ever been. I've gotten rid of my size 10-12 clothes and can now fit into size 6 clothes. 1 month: quantitative results!

-With a month’s worth of deep restful sleep, you’ll notice significant increases in performance at work and other aspects of your life. Your metabolism will be in high gear at this point, and your immune system will fight off pathogens with ferocity you haven’t felt since your 20’s. You’re on your way to total health and wellness.

3 months: time to go shopping! You’re gonna need some clothes that fit. But don’t buy too much because you’re gonna be back at the department store soon!

Bodies by Design has by far been my BEST boot camp experience. Trainer Fred's motivation and high energy are so helpful in keeping you pumped throughout the session. He's great at mixing up work outs so that you don't get bored of the same ones all the time. You can tell he really cares about all of his clients and wants them to reach their full potential. His sense of humor and genuine kindness make everyone feel welcome and encouraged. However, he isn't afraid to push you and that's exactly what you need in a personal trainer. I miss going to Bodies by Design and have every intent to join again if I find myself in the Austin area!

Bodies by Design (Our Workout Room) is my favorite place to workout! He is not only a great personal trainer, but an amazing nutritionist as well!

I have tried every diet and exercise program around but nothing worked until I found Fred and Bodies by Design. Thanks to Fred's unique training and nutrition program I have lost 58 pounds in 6 months. I am at my lowest weight in 15 years and have never felt better! Fred Sassani at Bodies By Design Personal Training provides an extremely rewarding fitness experience. I have joined other ‘big box gyms’ and was never motivated to go exercise. I was basically throwing away money each month paying those gym membership fees. I appreciate how Fred takes the time to teach you how to correctly do the exercises. He does not use cookie cutter type training techniques like you see at the ‘big box gyms’. He gears your exercise program to fit your fitness level. He will either work individually with you or put you in the right group of people. He teams people together so they can help motivate each other to participate and continue to get to the Workout Room. Fred provides great advice on what to eat in order to become healthier as well as lose weight and look great. I have never felt this motivated to get healthy and look my best. If you’re tired of the ‘big box gyms’ and have not seen the results you expected or if you don’t think you can improve your life, go visit Fred at the Workout room and your life will be changed.

Fred Sassani at Bodies By Design is professional, very knowledgeable and cares about his clients. The workouts are in small groups and the content is always changing. Fred works with each individual every workout to ensure proper form, adjusts the exercises to your fitness level and ensures you have proper form to prevent injury. You won't find him giving you a workout then disappearing until it is time to leave; he is there every workout from beginning to end.

Coming off an injury, I was frustrated thinking I would have to cut back on the intensity of what I am doing; Fred adapted the workouts to accommodate for my injury while still getting an incredible workout. His knowledge of fitness and the human body is helping me rehab which I completely did not expect. I expected to have to adapt myself, big bonus.

I went to Fred out of shape, over weight, bad eating habits and unmotivated. He has brought me to a place where I am loosing inches and pounds, building muscle, increasing endurance and feeling a lot better about myself.

I get regular emails with helpful information on fitness, nutrition, motivation and more.

I am in the medical field and am more then pleased to find someone putting as much in to me as I am in to myself incorporating fitness, nutrition, motivation and a relationship that builds myself as a person. Bottom line, Fred Sassani knows what he is doing and has passion about it. He trains the whole person which leads to over all health and well being.

Bodies by Design has truly helped me achieve my fitness goals and somehow made it fun. Working out has never really been my idea of a good time but I really enjoyed the variations in our routines. I never felt bored or felt as if I could predict what was coming next. A HUGE THANK YOU to Fred who works very hard assisting me and making sure I’m doing everything correctly. In a short while, I lost 17 pounds, had a 10% body fat reduction and I’m down 15 inches over all .
