This is my first 8WC and I was worried about missing week 2 at BFT South Congress in Austin as I was traveling for work. Rod was super helpful and got me scheduled for Cardio Summit and Strength. When I arrived, Asia was so welcoming and Mychael and Julius were amazing coaches. While these coaches tried to convince they were the best, there’s no place like home and I’ve imprinted on my coaches in Austin. BFT SoCo 4-ever 😜 Thank You BFT River Oaks for welcoming me to your studio this week! And for this sweet merch

I recently visited BFT Riveroaks, and I was beyond impressed with the experience! From the moment I walked in, the energy was high, and the coaches were incredibly welcoming. As a visitor, I immediately felt like part of the community.
The workout itself was intense but well-structured, combining strength and conditioning in a way that pushed me while still being adaptable to different fitness levels. The trainers were knowledgeable, motivating, and took the time to ensure proper form, which I really appreciated. The facility was clean, well-equipped, and had a great vibe that made the session even more enjoyable.
If you’re looking for a challenging yet rewarding workout in a supportive environment, BFT Riveroaks is definitely worth checking out! I’ll absolutely be back next time I’m in town.

I started coming here through ClassPass when I was looking for a strength training class. After a few classes, I signed up for an unlimited membership as I loved all the classes they have to offer. Cardio days really push you and make you work and strength days are all about lifting heavy while maintaining good form. Each class has 2 - 3 trainers to help you with your form and motivate you to keep going. Shout out to Margarita, Mychael, Kyle, Sue, Jasmin, and Julius! They are all great trainers and have built a welcoming community that I love to be a part of!

The structured programming ensures a fresh, challenging workout every day, and the coaches are fantastic at teaching and pushing you to do your best—special shout-out to Margarita! I love using the heart rate monitor to add a gamified element to my workouts. The energy and atmosphere of the community are incredible, with strong, supportive, and encouraging women all around. BFT changed my life
I have been coming to BFT about 5-6 times a week for 11 months and it has completely changed my body, my energy levels, my health, everything. The workouts are structured to give you the right amount of weight lifting and cardio every week. The coaches are so supportive and make sure you lift with proper form. They are all amazing but shout out to Mychael, Kyle, Margarita, Jasmin, and Kip! The whole community is awesome

BFT Houston is hands down the best gym I’ve ever been a part of! The trainers—Kyle, Myke, Jeremy, and Julius—are absolutely phenomenal. They’re always there to correct your form and ensure you're working out safely and effectively, which has made such a difference in my progress.
What really sets them apart is their positive and upbeat attitude, even at the 5 AM classes (seriously, how do they stay so energized that early?!). They make every workout fun, which keeps me motivated to show up.
The sense of community here is incredible, and it’s clear the team goes above and beyond to create an environment where everyone feels welcome and supported. If you’re looking for a gym that challenges you while keeping things fun, BFT Houston is the place to be!

Great franchise, great location, great owner, and great coaches! Unlike F45, BFT has 2-3 coaches on you at all times, so you get that personal trainer input without the cost! BFT is also more equally balanced between strength and cardio than F45, which tends to be more cardio focused. Great community, and the coaches/owner try to make it fun! If you’re looking for a HIIT class that will work on your form while delivering results, BFT is the place to be!

Yeah, I mean, these guys are alright, I guess. They make you do pushups and burpees and sometimes even crawl like a bear on the floor. And they make you warmup and cooldown. So, I mean, if you like that type of stuff, then this is the place for you. OK OK OK but for real, these guys have built an amazing community of people and the workouts are really great. They do training blocks, so about every 8-10 weeks they teach you new moves and you get stronger pretty quickly. I've worked out in every gym in Houston and tried every style of training and gotta admit that this place is doing a fantastic job at both the training stuff and the community building, and the results speak for themselves. Oh and the coaches are awesome, we always have fun and laugh together, it's a good time! Thanks BFT fam!

Being a founding member at BFT River Oaks has been one of the best decisions I’ve made in my FIT life! I’ve only been in Houston for two years, and it’s been challenging to find the perfect group workout program with a fun community. My idea of an ideal workout program is a place that balances strength training, most notably with barbell work and cardio. BFT raises the bar because you get all the above plus coaches who get to know you personally and push you out of your comfort zone. The science behind the program has taught me how to control my heart rate and accurately recover. The workouts are balanced, so I can work out six days a week without overtraining. If you're wondering if you should join our community, the answer is YES!

TLDR; BFT is one of the most welcoming gyms I have found in Houston and the workouts will quickly whip you into shape. The trainers, other attendees and owners are all amazing and will make you want to keep coming back!
--
The long winded version: I started coming to BFT about 7 weeks ago after trying no less than 15 different gyms and workout studios in Houston. When looking for a workout studio, I was looking for something that would help me gain strength without having too much of a "HIIT-only" focus. BFT checked the box -- with split workouts between strength and cardio, it's the best of both worlds. In the last 7 weeks, I can see the results -- I've increased my weights across the board and can tell that I have improved my cardio ability (re: I am no longer gasping at the end of every cardio set).
The unexpected thing I gained at BFT is the community. Between the coaches who will keep you laughing (even when you're struggling) to the amazing group of people who attend classes (shoutout to the 7pm squad), it has truly become a part of the day that I look forward to. I cannot put into words how great Kyle, Mychael, Rich, Julius, Emily and Jeff have been at providing encouragement when you need it the most, holding me accountable for coming to classes and just generally bringing the good energy.
All this to say that I would highly recommend BFT!

Wow! This place! From the manager to the coaches to the amazing members. And then the workouts ❤️ I cannot say enough about how exciting it is to be part of this community.
I have traveled extensively through many gym memberships and I was pumped to sign up for a founding membership “just to see” if I would like it AND give up other founding memberships (…OTF…). The variety, plus actual science, focus on form and minimization of injury, love and encouragement AND 1-3 personal trainers in every class to encourage, correct, and empower—-I cannot say enough about this beautiful gym. Thanks to those who mentioned it to me-I am so grateful. And to the BFT community!

10/10 recommend. I’ve tried a variety of gyms around the city and this is the closest you can get to personal training in a group setting. The workouts change every day to allow you to keep coming back even though you pushed hard the day before. I especially like that the weight focused days are designed to allow you to lift to your max safely with a strong emphasis on form. The coaches really make the gym. They are motivating, knowledgeable and show interest in helping you improve. Most of the time you work in groups of 2-3 which allows the opportunity to really build a community that will keep you motivated during the session and also to keep coming back.. not to mention the playlist is pretty lit. Overall there is a lot of attention to details (rest periods, pairing partners with similar abilities, etc) that really exemplify the programs effectiveness and dedication to results which separates BFT from the rest. You’re going to work but you will probably have some fun doing it at BFT.

Take your favorite parts of F45 and Orange Theory then add real strength training with an awesome community and you get BFT River Oaks. I have always been a group fitness girl and I’ve done them all. Body Fit Training is by far my favorite group fitness studio in all of Houston! I happily drive 40 minutes 6 times a week for their workouts! My week with BFT consists of 3 strength days and 3 cardio/HIIT days.
I am obsessed with their strength days. I have never done squats and I was worried about learning how to properly squat without getting hurt. The fact that they always have 2-3 personal trainers in each class makes strength days really feel like you’re getting one on one sessions. All the coaches are knowledgeable and helpful. They are quick to correct everyone’s form and push you to challenge yourself when they feel you can safely go up in weights. I always feel safe and doing all the exercises in correct form. It’s very empowering because in just 5 weeks there, I am already seeing results and feeling stronger!
BFT has my favorite cardio and high intensity interval training days. Unlike OTF, they don’t bore you to death with their treadmills. Unlike f45, they don’t burpee you to death. The cardio sessions are as well planned and thoughtful as their strength days. Each cardio session targets different heart rate zones and having their heart rate monitors are great. Sometimes after a strength session, I take a 2 mile run on Buffalo bayou because it’s so close to the BFT studio and yes, the BFT heart rate monitor works outside of the studio so I get credit for my run on the bayou.
If you love group fitness classes, drop your memberships to F45, Orange Theory, and class pass. Head over to BFT River Oaks and you’ll see why this place is going to change your life!

In the short time I’ve spent at this gym, I’m already seeing and feeling results! Even in a group fitness setting, I’m actually getting stronger in a lot of my lifts such as the barbell back squat and the standing military press. This is all because of the one on one coaching and assistance I get from the multiple personal trainers that are in each class. I am on the unlimited membership so I come in six days a week! Each week has three strength days where we lift barbells, dumbbells, and kettlebells and we prioritize form. The trainers are all great and challenge us with heavier resistance when they feel we can push ourselves more. I have a lot of previous injuries and working out at BFT makes me feel safe with the modifications the trainers give me.
As much as I hate cardio, BFT’s cardio HIIT classes are actually fun. They are fast moving and their heart rate monitor is great. We don’t just workout and try to die, we actually have certain target heart rate goals each workout. It feel like the cardio workouts are smarter than the other places I’ve been to like f45 and Orange Theory. Even though I’ve always avoided cardio, I find myself going 3 days a week at BFT for their cardio sessions.
In addition to the great workout programming and knowledge personal trainers, I’m surprised to how much I am enjoying the community here. The members at BFT are really diverse, inclusive, and awesome. I have enjoyed making friends at this gym. It’s been a really great experience for me and I’m glad it’s in Houston. The range of fitness programs available here is outstanding. Whether you're a seasoned athlete or just starting your fitness journey, you'll find something tailored to your needs. From high-intensity interval training (HIIT) to yoga, strength training to cardio, they have it all. The variety keeps things interesting and ensures you'll never get bored with your workouts.
The trainers are exceptional. Shoutout Mychael, Kyle, Julius, Wesley, Rich, Emily, and Jeffrey. They are not only highly skilled and knowledgeable but also passionate about helping members achieve their fitness goals. They provide personalized guidance and support, making sure you're using proper techniques and pushing yourself to your limits safely.
The members here are friendly and supportive, creating a motivating environment where everyone encourages each other to strive for their best.

Great gym and great coaches! I love how they learn to get to know each one of their clients on a personal level and treat everyone like family. Coaches are very good at correcting you when needed and properly training you even in a group setting. After one month I can already see myself getting stronger. Glad I joined a great gym family!

Typically I have focused on one on one training sessions for most of my adult life. BFT has brought me back to my younger training self where you are supported by 'coaches' pushing you along, and 'team' woking off each other for best results. I am already seeing results and can't wait to meet the future me.

BFT opened about a month ago and it’s been a fitness revelation thus far. With previous gyms and workout programs I’ve used, I’ve felt frustrated by a lack of results and confusing programming and messaging. With BFT, I’ve seen more results more quickly and I feel a sense of coherence that had been missing from other studios.
Each day BFT schedules one class that’s held between 3 and 7 times that day. The days generally alternate between strength-focused classes and cardio-centric sessions, with some hybrid or stretching days sprinkled in. They also have yoga on Sundays and various educational sessions led by the trainers to help us along our fitness journeys. There are different class structures beyond the type of class that take a bit of getting used to with new acronyms and lingo to learn, but once you’ve done the classes once or twice you pick it up pretty quickly.
The other members are really kind and encouraging people so you don’t have to worry about obnoxious gym obsessives judging you or hurrying you along. There are always 2-3 or more trainers in each class that are there to check your form and encourage you and provide helpful cues.
BFT is a great training option if you want to incorporate more strength training that meets you at whatever level you are at and provides you with a form of personal training at a fraction of the cost. I am looking forward to growing with my BFT family in the months to come!

I love BFT! I’ve been going to Body Fit River Oaks for over a month and feel it made a difference already after taking a hiatus from the gym during covid . The classes are a great combination of group training plus strength training which most other group training gyms don’t offer. I am a convert from F45 :) and the trainers are great - Mychael you are awesome !

BFT River Oaks is the best thing that’s happened to me in 2023! This is by far the best gym and fitness community I have ever been a part of. Before Covid, I was always doing something to stay in shape. After 3 years of trying to get motivated to get back to a fitness routine, I stumbled on to BFT River Oaks. The program and the workouts looked interesting on Instagram so I took a chance and joined as a Founding Member. It’s the best decision of 2023!
This is the first group workout studio where I actually feel like I’m lifting weights like I would want to, if I were in control of my routine. On strength days, we do exercises like the barbell back squat, dumbbell chest presses, deadlifts, pull ups, and dips to name a few. The strength days are usually rep based so we lift until failure for the prescribed rep count for the exercise. Get this, you are “forced” to take a break in between working sets during a strength session. Having been to F45 and OTF, I was more than happy to know I can take a break so I can lift heavier on my next set. The breaks are awesome because it allows me to get to know the other members. Everyone here is very interesting and inclusive. It’s really easy to make fast friends with this group of fun fitness minded people.
I am not a rookie lifter but having multiple personal trainers in each class has definitely helped me to refine my technique in almost all of my lifts! BFT River Oaks has done a really great job in their business model to make a group workout session actually feel like you’re getting personal training with all of the one on one attention from their knowledgeable and helpful trainers. Kyle, Mychael, and all of the training staff really know their anatomy and modifications for my prior injuries don’t hold me back with my progress.
The cardio and HIIT days are also really fun. Like F45 and OTF, they have their own heart rate monitor. Unlike at 45 and OTF, BFT‘s workouts are different every day and have a different heart rate zone goal for each workout. It’s great because I don’t feel like I’m being rewarded only for working out in the “orange zone” or with really high heart rates. It really feels like you are working smarter, not harder. Another difference with BFT’s heart rate monitor is it also works outside of the studio. When I’m running or biking I can still keep track of my data in the BFT app for everything that I do for my fitness.
BFT has been the highlight of 2023 for me. I’m living a healthier lifestyle and making new friends. I’m excited to see where BFT River Oaks can take me on this journey.

I’ve definitely found my new gym fam at BFT River Oaks! Due to knee injuries/surgery, I had not been able to work out for a while and was looking for a new gym to kickstart my fitness routine again. I was previously a long time F45 member but knew I needed a change and wanted a place that focused more on strength training and less on strictly cardio based exercises.
I randomly came across some social media posts about a new gym that was opening up that sounded exactly what I had been searching for. After doing a little research I decided to become a founding member, and I’m really glad I did.
BFT’s progressive programming has really met my expectations - I feel like I’m lifting heavy in each class, getting constant feedback from the coaches (big shoutout to the River Oaks team), learning to target my heart rate zones, and really just getting a great workout in. Unlike other gyms where they have repetitive classes/exercises every week, it feels like BFT gives us a different workout each time. I’m really looking forward to seeing my strength improve and hitting some goals that I haven’t been able to reach in quite awhile.
If someone is looking to change up their fitness routine I’d highly recommend BFT, especially my studio, BFT River Oaks. Come and check us out!

LOVE LOVE LOVE this gym. It gives me the best of the best in one place! I love that we have true strength days and true cardio days. I used to go to F45 where it seemed like everyday was cardio. Not to mention, I always seemed to get injured due to the time pressure the workout had and form was out the window. There are always 2-3 coaches in each class! They are all knowledgeable, energetic, and very helpful! Get this: there is a true warm up before and stretch after class! But wait, there’s more! They even have mobility and yoga classes in the mix!!! As someone who just turned 40, I NEED TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE on yoga and mobility! It is needed 100%!
Another thing I love about this gym is THE COMMUNITY! After the 5 am class, we always have a good post class chat and laugh which makes my mornings so much better and worth waking up at 4 am for!! Love my BFT family!!

I go as often as I can to BFT, and I think the value of this membership is unmatched, considering the amount of personalized coaching I have received.

BFT River Oaks has it all! Strength, cardio, strength + cardio, and balance days! They have every type of equipment - from barbells and racks, dumbbells, kettlebells, rowers, skiers, bionic bikes, treadmills, etc., etc.! Every workout is different, challenging, and fun! I get a great workout every time.
The gym is super clean, towels are provided, and there is a filtered water station. Love that there are at least 2-3 coaches in each class. The coaches are the BEST! Mychael, Kyle, and Jeremy are always there to help, give pointers, and are super encouraging. I actually look forward to my morning workouts! And everyone at the gym are all supportive of each other and welcoming. You’ll make an instant friend your first day. Im getting stronger every day because of BFT!

Best group training workouts, great coaches, wonderful community. As a former F45 member for the past 2½ years I saw great weight loss success with their system, but after frustration from programing (several injuries from overtraining certain muscle groups chasing a clock) and maxing out on weights within a year, I started looking elsewhere. With a secondary a goal of muscle building, I was only able to achieve this when supplementing my F45 workouts with outside strength training. I joined here at BFT River Oaks as a founding member and like how evenly split the focus is focus between HIIT cardio and resistance training. They discipline you to strengthen and condition your heart by focusing on targeting heart rate zones during work periods and controlling your breathing during rest periods to lower it back down. Love how resistance days are rep-based, not time-based with so you can focus on going heavy, tempo and proper form. Speaking of going heavy, it's nice to have a squat rack with compound barbell lifts instead of just dumbbells and kettle bells.
After being here a month now since their opening, I'm very happy here and see my health, physique, conditioning improve dramatically. I'm very impressed with the coaches like Mychael & Kyle as they're very well trained and attentive tailoring to every member's specific needs and fitness level. Great culture and community with other members making you really feel like you're in a supportive environment where everyone is having fun pushing to reach their goals. The heart rate monitor chest strap is a must have as you can see on the monitor during class when you're in the right zone as well as if you hit the target for that workout at the end.
I really feel like here at BFT I'm back in my first days of working out at F45 in November 2020 where I was having fun, motivated, disciplined and seeing consistent results. As long as the programing stays the same and keeps me feeling like I'm being pushed, I can't see myself not being here for years to come.

TL;DR – fantastic gym, trainers, and community! The workouts kick your butt, and you’ll develop both strength and endurance!
BFT is a new cross-functional training gym in River Oaks offering a variety of workouts that include strength, cardio, HIIT and more. I had tried other workouts in the past including OT & F45 but nothing ever stuck for me because it all felt repetitive / boring. With BFT, the variety of workouts keep me going back, and the week-over-week progression is highly emphasized here which keeps you pushing harder. Their biggest plus point are their trainers – it really does feel like personal training in a group session because there are always at least 2-3 trainers per session and they are always around to spot you, fix your form, and push you to go harder. The community here is also super friendly and welcoming. Facilities are clean, and well-maintained, creating a comfortable and safe environment for workouts. Overall, I think BFT is a fantastic program, would recommend to anyone looking for something new to try out!

Goodbye OTF… hello BFT!
Can’t say enough good things about BFT River Oaks.
Beautiful new gym, growing community of friendly members and awesome workouts. On top of all that, throw in a team of trainers and staff that are super supportive, very motivating and quick to correct bad form.
If you’re looking for a workout that’s functional and never boring, skip the usual OTF run + row + dumbbell routine and give BFT River Oaks a try… you won’t be disappointed!

I spent many years doing F45 with decent results early on but seriously began to lose interest in the last year because of what dawned on me were scattered, random-seeming workout sessions. At the end I felt like I was just forcing myself to go to workouts in some hope of continuing to make progress in my own fitness journey. BodyFit Training (BFT) River Oaks coincidentally opening recently (just about a month ago as of this review) was a godsend, and I cannot say enough good things about my experience there so far.
Probably the easiest way I could describe BFT itself is combining the best aspects of OrangeTheory, personal training, and F45 with a particular focus on progressive strength development and cardiovascular enhancement. There is a heavy emphasis on keeping track of your cardiovascular and strength progress at BFT River Oaks.
They utilize heart rate training/monitoring as an integral part of every session (emphasis on going up, down, or maintaining specific target rates depending on where you are in the workout) and the staff at BFT River Oaks has loaned out monitors to members and newcomers who may not have their own so that they can take full advantage of class. Progressive strength development is also an integral part of BFT - you can opt in to testing for your 5-rep max on a series of fundamental strength movements (such as deadlift, back squat, military press, etc) so that the weights you use during class are appropriate to your personal strength growth. During each multi-week training block certain of these movements will reappear throughout the block with variation on weight lifted and reps (generally fewer reps each week but heavier weight) to encourage further strength development. And of course the weight training equipment used in BTF is legitimate stuff - you don’t see or use equipment like trap bars, land mines, or power racks in other group fitness chains.
The real strength of BFT River Oaks is the burgeoning community of staff and members it has developed. Although consisting of people of vastly different fitness experience and levels (from complete newbies to longtime athletes) everyone you meet tends to be extremely enthusiastic about pushing themselves and each other to perform at their very best. Camaraderie is the norm and not the exception at BFT River Oaks: at each class you will typically be grouped into pairs or triples, and work/rest during sets is typically designed to utilize this format to full advantage such as “You-Go-I-Go” where the resting partner will also spot for the active partner. It feels safer and more reassuring to push yourself to max weights and effort when you know you have someone always watching your back and encouraging you. And the coaches are no slouch either. There are always two or three of them at each class but you never see them up front just barking generic encouragements like at many other fitness studios - there are constantly roaming to spot you, provide individual instruction/feedback on form, or even flat out work a set with you to push you ahead.
TLDR version: One of the best group fitness/progressive strength training gyms you will find in Houston with an awesome “fit family”. If you are looking to improve your fitness then try BFT River Oaks out - I do not think you will be disappointed.
