I absolutely love the Y. The instructors and trainers are great. Pool is almost always the perfect temperature. Treehouse cupcakes is onsite and have the best coffee. They have a great massage therapist onsite. Gym and restrooms are always clean. Front staff are always friendly.

Just dropped my girls off for a get together there that had previously been paid for by the mother of the child having the event. We were treated like a complete inconvenience by all people at the front desk. They were rude and dismissive especially when she tried to charge me for day passes and the event had already been paid for. Then when I tried to text the lady who had left our names at the desk to be let in now all the sudden I didn’t need to purchase a day pass. She then checked us in but was very rude about it. Then just stood there for a while talking to coworkers and goes “that’s it” Like I was supposed to know she was done. I was considering a membership for the summer since we just moved here but will find somewhere else to take my kids. You should too. This is not it. This was at 6pm 5/16/25.

I came here with a friend whose daughter was having a small group of kids for a swim party. She had called and asked all questions well in advance. No one knows what the heck is going on at this front desk, even the most BASIC questions, they don't know. Each person has a different answer. They lost an hour of party time because they took so long to get everyone checked in and then proceeded to say the pool actually closed 30 minutes earlier than she's been told. After seeing the chaos I could never recommend this place for anything.

Facility is now under new management, and now is a YMCA facility. All complaints mentioned below have been addressed! They even have after hours access now!

This review should be 5, but it's a 2 for management and poor customer service.

This facility is amazing, but it is horribly run. For all intents and purposes, the Cain Center is a gym facility, but they don't communicate or run it as such. After coming almost daily for over a year, we are ending our membership. We have been multiple times in the past year, and they have closed the facility with no warning. Nothing posted on social media. Occasionally it's just a paper posting on the door. Sometimes the door is just locked, with no communication. 2 weeks ago, my kids were denied entry to the pool. They have no rules about kids not being able to enter, and we have been well over 50x. We are not going to pay for a monthly family membership to be denied entry to the facility on a regular basis.

Water always out, today there were no water fountains toilets always out. AC doesn’t work especially in the racquetball room… avoid if you can.

Also, whoever is responding to these messages, it’s clear there’s problems so the snarky responses are the worst customer service.

The YMCA closes all the time. It makes me wonder why I pay full price for a place that closes so much. If it’s not closed then the pool is undergoing renovations or there are games going on in the gym so you can’t play basketball. The only thing here usually always available when the facility is open is the weight room. For the most part the staff is friendly but there are some that make you question whether they actually want to be there. It’s always clean and there are rarely equipment problems. This facilities main problem is availability. If I pay for a membership I expect it to be open and available. Unfortunately, I think this is the best gym in Athens.

We attended an event there. The staff was very polite and friendly. The building was clean and had plenty of tables and chairs. There was photo backdrop already available. The room rental rate was $95 per hour (they don't offer a daily rate). They have clean restrooms located near the room that we were using. There's an indoor swimming pool available for a small fee per person if you would like to use it. Overall it's a very nice facility. Thanks

Our family spends a inordinate amount of time (6 days a week) at the Cain Center and parks, and we love it. My wife and I run the track around the facilities there while our kids swim on the swim team. We utilize the softball fields year-round for league and tournament play. Sundays we make our way to the tennis courts for pickle ball and picnics. We love it here. There are a number of events host at the Cain Center throughout the year from Father-Daughter dances, 5k's , Triathlons, concerts, to corporate and community events. The Cain Center does have some age and could use some updates. I know that things are being worked on.......... All in all a wonderful place to be ...

This is your local community place for being active and healthy. They recently redone their weight lifting, nice rubber end free weights, as well as the machines. The mornings before work are best time to use the weights. There is a disc golf course, a walking/running paved trail little more than half mile loop and half of the trail is shaded, and there are open fields for soccer. Also, there are baseball and softball fields, with one batting cage.

I drove up there, and they said no, plus twas awkward. Where on the wall does it say how long that track it, or spray paint. Gym is okay. Other than that, it's a unique place for exercise, can't find a place like that in Dallas (easily) or Tyler. Tis special, every city ought to have a place like that.
