I've studied various forms of martial arts off and on for most of my life. So, I speak from experience when I say that this school is great. Scott and Will, the teachers, will tell you that they aren't "masters," but they have great knowledge and skill. And they continue to learn and grow.
There's so much to study in Chen-style tai chi, including the famous empty-hand forms and weapon forms, as well as push hands. Scott and Will can teach all of this.
They're both great teachers, too. I've seen them show lots of patience with people struggling to learn a difficult posture. They make the whole experience fun. I always leave a class feeling happy and relaxed.

When I was in college one of my theatre professors had integrated some Tai Chi, Chi Gong, and Yoga into our daily warm-ups in class. I trained with him for a couple of years and experienced the benefits of Tai Chi, Chi Gong and Yoga. I started participating in Austin Chen Tai Chi around 2011 because I needed to take better care of my overall health which includes my mental health. Since I was a child I have had an anxiety disorder in addition to a family history of heart disease, high blood pressure and cancer. Upon meeting Scott and Will who lead the class I was very impressed with their dedication, skill and training as well as their passion to teach us. I also really enjoyed how they push us to work on our Tai Chi form, but I never feel pressured in any way. They allow everyone to train and grow at their own pace. Scott and Will are remarkable Tai Chi teachers, and I don’t say that lightly because I am a master educator myself. Everyone who shows up consistently to class grows in their Tai Chi form and practice. I have learned a ton about Tai Chi from Scott, Will and everyone in class. As a result, Tai Chi has given me the ability to better manage my physical, emotional and mental health. I can’t even begin to explain how much the training and practice that we do in class prepared and helped me through the pandemic. I am looking forward to the day when this pandemic is under control and I can gather with Scott, Will and all my peers at the Chen Tai Chi Association of Austin to continue practicing Tai Chi.
With Gratitude,

I've studies Martial Arts most of my life, finding Chen Taji in 2009.
I had taken a few years off after my original teacher passed away and I was happy to find a Chen training opportunity when I moved to Austin.
Scott and Will have taught me a lot in a clear and easy to understand way!
They (and the rest of the students) are super helpful to beginners, so even if you've never trained before, they can help you on your physical and spiritual journey.

Scott and Will are both amazing teachers! Very professional, very skilled and great to be around! They’ve built an amazing community that is super welcoming, friendly and helpful. They’ve always answered every single question I had about the form, tai chi itself, or anything else I wondered about. If I ever felt like I needed extra guidance with a move they always made the time to help help me either during the class or right after. I really loved their teaching style and the way they structured the class. Having a solid and clear structure, as well as a very set routine is extremely important for me when it comes to martial arts or sports in general and they’ve nailed that!
If you’ve been shopping around for a tai chi class, no need to look any further! This is it!! :)

This is a great group. Very well run by Scott and Will. I highly recommend Chen Tai Chi Austin. I have learned a lot there over the last several years. There are so many positive things about Tai Chi. I recommend giving this group a try as soon as it returns from from it's absence due to Covid.

I have CFS and Fibro. This chi was a turning point and life saving. My neurologist was in awe of the progress I made after a couple of sessions. I am so grateful for the knowledge sharing and kindness.
Perhaps of my situation, I appreciate when the pace of the movements are slower.
Peace and well-being!
