I've been going to Shannon consistently for the last two years now and have had fantastic progress. I'm a distance runner and in 2023 I signed up for 5 races with distances of 10+ miles when I hadn't run more than 6 miles in years. I wanted to ensure that I wasn't going to dive head first into these challenges and injure myself. And through training and Shannon's incredible insights I was able to complete all of these with no injuries.

Ever since I finished that I've continued to see Shannon in order to address other issues that we've worked together to identify and build plans to correct. Her insights into what's going on with your body, her ability to communicate the issue clearly to you, and find a solution that you're actually willing to do is fantastic.

The progress you can make over a few short sessions with Shannon are worth their weight in gold.

Shannon is magic. I will be two steps into the studio, and she KNOWS what my issues are and how to fix them.

I came to her 3 years ago with traumatic arthritis/varus thrust in my left knee from an ACL/MCL/meniscus blowout as a teen. Using NKT and her vast knowledge of body connections, she was able to give me real daily function (I'm a full-time teacher) and delay knee replacement.

Once total knee replacement became the best option for stability, she prepared me for the best possible outcome. My surgery and hardware were complex, but with the pre- and post-op help from Shannon I’ve recovered remarkably. My surgeon and my PT are in awe. Shannon continues to work with my new normal as my body adjusts to the changes (scar tissue, differing leg lengths etc.) and I will continue my journey with her for years to come.

There aren’t enough stars or words to describe how much good she does for so many.

Shannon has made more of a difference than everything else I've tried for lower back pain (steroid injections, chiropractic manipulation, acupuncture, and physical therapy) combined. She uses a combination of different therapies and customizes each visit to your needs. She sends a follow-up email after every session recapping what worked and what didn't, and what exercises and stretching you can work on before your next session to keep improving. I actually quit going to physical therapy even though it was covered by insurance because going to Shannon is so much more effective. My only regret is I wish I'd found her sooner! Cannot recommend her enough.

Shannon has without a doubt, changed my life. I started seeing her almost two years ago in agonizing daily back and hip pain where I could barely walk, and two failed rounds of traditional physical therapy. I was going to get surgery and had already done several consultations, and I was fatefully led one day to Shannon's website through a Google Search, feeling like there was one more thing I should try.

Shannon's approach is unlike anything I've encountered and she meets you where you're at in your journey. I can now walk three miles a day, my nerve pain running down my leg is gone, and I'm at maybe 10% of the pain level I was at two years ago. I feel like I have my life back. I started seeing Shannon when recovering from a car accident. Even though I was going to PT, I still felt less than stellar, and nervous to go back to exercises, let alone pole dancing or aerial. She empowered me and helped make muscle/nerve/ mind connections that helped me realize it wasn't muscle mass holding me back.

That was especially proven true when later I was in a second car accident. I bounced back faster than the first accident. Not only that she used craniosacral therapy to relax my nerves, which was highly important especially since after going to a neurologist, chiropractor, and manual therapy none of those services had addressed the anxiety that comes from physical trauma of an accident. Shannon continues to surprise me with the depth and breadth of her knowledge- she even noticed some inflammation of the lymphatic system and was able to help with draining.

She really listens, and I see myself as a long term client.

I highly recommend working with Shannon! Initially I approached working with her to support ongoing physical surgical recovery. However in partnership with my separate talk therapy efforts, the physical work at Chulel ultimately took on deeper meaning and supported broader change. Shannon is insightful, incredibly dynamic with her approach, curates a safe atmosphere, and is very adaptable to meeting clients where they are during each session, which allows the work to actively progress.

In my last session, I left finally feeling like my legs were working properly again for the first time in years. Shannon's approach is unique. I've seen dozens of clinicians over the last 12 or so years in search of relief from chronic pain. You'll receive personalized, one-on-one attention throughout your time with Shannon, but she has an outstanding ability to listen while seeing what needs attention - making your appointment much more efficient. Together, we are working to encourage pliability in the soft tissues and bring "life" back to some very "stuck" areas. This last time, with Shannon's Thai-like technique applied very methodically to my inner and outer legs, I happily walked to my car afterward feeling like I was wearing moon boots instead of the heaviness I am used to. We've been working together for 7 or 8 sessions so far, and she is the first person I have found who has been able to apply sound kinesthetic knowledge along with an effective bodywork approach that just seems like it comes innately to her. I started working with Shannon at Chulel Corrective Bodywork & Pilates in the summer. I am a professional fiddle player/violinist and have been having trouble playing for years due sports injuries in my left shoulder and my right hand. After the first session with Shannon, I was pain free for a day, which was huge. After working with her for six months, I can slowly start playing violin again. I had the hand checked out by several doctors over the past 12 years and have tried different therapies. This is the first time that the pain is gone for several months. The shoulder has gotten a lot better, too. I am able to sleep on my left shoulder again, and play violin for a little bit without pain.
Shannon’s fine tuned work, and attention to detail of my movements and posture astonishes me in every session, but I feel like that is reason her work has been helping me so much. She uses massage therapies, as well as simple exercises and other techniques to help me. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone who has similar issues as me.

From the first session, Shannon brings a sense of professionalism, knowledge, and skill set at the very highest level.
Through her understanding of the body, mind, and emotions, Shannon uses a variety of techniques as she looks to find the cause of your pain, imbalances, etc. What I especially appreciated was that she did not just treat my pain symptoms, but she found the root causes (there are many!)
Shannon also provides resources and information so that I can work to "re-educate" my body outside of our sessions. She has been the pivotal point in my body restoring itself so that I can remain active and pain free. I highly recommend Shannon and I'm so glad I found her.

Shannon is a wonderful guide, healer, and teacher. She deeply cares about her patients and has a plethora of different expert level techniques, tools, and understandings of the body and can put together a personalized and balanced treatment plan for patients. The bodywork we did in house helped me change movement patterns that've been with me since childhood and the education she gave me helped me continue my progress at home. She's always exploring new techniques, and each time I visit I leave with something new. Shannon is a gifted bodyworker. That claim is an immense understatement! To surmise that she practices body witchcraft that enables you to feel as you should is a fit description for a layman. However, as crafty as she is, she's also a scientist.

I love working with Shannon. She's so in tune with the body and so perceptive. It's truly amazing what she notices as far as comepnsations, where you hold tension, when other body parts move when you are speaking about something emotional. I was lucky enough to win a package of 3 sessions with Shannon a Sky Candy auction. I knew by the end of my first session I would be coming back after my package ended.

I shattered my ankle 13 years ago and I have large plates and screws in it. I have had pain and limited range of motion in it ever since. Shannon immediately understood the extent of my injury and she explained the techniques she wanted to use to help me.

She was extremely gentle and patient with me, as I am very reluctant to let anyone touch or manipulate my scar tissue and joint. The results of her work are seriously magical.

I was able to move my ankle with an increased range of motion immediately. When I stood up, I felt more grounded and less lop-sided. It's so amazing to feel like I can access all these parts of my body again.

Shannon is so friendly and easy-going, but she is also a total professional and a wealth of knowledge. If you are thinking about going to Chulel, do it! My experience has been nothing short of life-changing!

Shannon has been a godsend for my body pain, imbalances, and awareness. She's great at working with problems large and small. My shoulder was giving me pain for two weeks and after 20 minutes working with her, the pain completely dissipated. We're also working on persistent lower back pain that I've had for years, and she's been magical when it comes to assessing the various issues that cause it and addressing them in a gentle but effective manner. I've seen so much improvement since working with her. She's also completely willing to say when something is outside of her scope of work and gives really valuable referrals to appropriate practitioners. Plus, she's easy to talk to and fun to be around. After working with a chiropractor, I started working with Shannon to hammer out finer details. I’m a disabled veteran who came back from my latest deployment with several problems and I was sick of the VA only giving me pills. Shannon helped me work through my issues fairly quickly by helping me to correct some alignment issues as well as just poor mechanics that Had been plaguing me for years. Shannon has a unique way of pointing out where and how one might be using their muscles inefficiently and how to correct the issue. A co-worker recommended that I see Shannon to relieve lower back pain and resolve some pelvic floor issues. I am so happy that I did! She has been able to help me understand how my pelvic floor issue is related to my lower back pain and weak core. In addition, she taught me how my body holds on to stress from work/home life. After hearing from my doctors that these body issues are due to having 2 large babies and getting older, I wanted another option to pain relievers and/or surgery. At our weekly sessions, she has introduced stretches and exercises to assist me in building my core strength. The one on one interaction has been key for me. My family has noticed how my posture has improved and now have no problem getting up from my bed and floor. My issues had prevented me from exercising. Finding Chulel-A Pilates is one of the best things that has happened since I moved to Austin three months ago. I sought out relief for debilitating lower back pain, which I suspected came from the stress and emotional consequences of a big life change. Working with Shannon is multi-faceted in that she works to identify the root of the issue: one, recognizing the mind-body connection (that our thoughts, feelings, and attitude have an impact on our physical being) and, two, examining how posture, alignment, and movement contribute to pain/ relief.

Seeing Shannon is like seeing a physical therapist, healer, and psychotherapist in one. She is incredibly intuitive, and deploys a variety of tools and exercises to address issues. I not only feel better, physically, but I learn more about myself with each session. I know that our work together is resulting in long-term change, because she has taught me how my subconscious habits (like how i walk, sit, or hold tension) tie directly to different discomforts. It's been a month since my visit and incorporating her advice has relieved me of all my pains.

Shannon, much like a good doctor, employs a mix of keen intuition and observation backed by years of clinical experience and research.

By observing my gait and testing my mobility she was able to accurately deduce the cause of my symptoms; it was rather startling that she was even able to guess how I sit at my computer (torso turned left, head turned right).

I limped in thinking my chronic pain was solely the result of over-exercising and short psoas causes by a back injury and, while probably a major factor, she advanced my knowledge further by pointing out my tight quadratus lumborum muscles, the non-trivial weight of my noggin, and other poor habits like shifting all my weight to one leg when I stand.

While I didn't think I had poor posture, it turns out I spent too much time looking down (text neck) and asymmetrically distributing my weight both sitting and standing. Once I nixed those habits my pain subsided.

If you're the type who treats themselves as opposed to seeking treatment via pills or massage, she's a regular Mimir's well of knowledge when it comes to kinesthetics.

Shannon's techniques were new to me and I was excited and open to working with her. The studio space is very clean and nice and she uses a variety of techniques to achieve different goals or processes. I initially visited her to work on some tight muscles and ended up delving into my closed off chest space and other emotionally contrived areas. I've been seeing Shannon for ~4 weeks now, in that short amount of time I've seen significant improvements.
