Update: Upon further reflection, I’ve decided to update my review to be four stars instead of five. The reason being that I took a control 1.5 class with Claire. This was not my first control 1.5 class, I took several at the Bellaire location with Ashley before. When I signed up for the class, I obviously knew what I was signing up for. During the class, Claire kept making comments about how some of us probably signed up for this class by accident and thought that it was center and balance instead which is a “much easier class.” She kept saying it… but I didn’t think anything of it.

It wasn’t until the end of class when I commented that I enjoyed the class that she said to my face that It’s a lot different than center and balance, and that’s when I realize she was talking to me. For context, I am a plus-size black woman.

At the time, I didn’t sit with the comment as much, and I even went back the next week.. but when I think about it months later… I realized that this was the reason I stopped going to Club Pilates. This is the third location that I have gone to where I’ve been treated like an “other” (Tanglewood and rice military, I’m looking at you).

It’s severely patronizing to presume that an adult doesn’t know what class they signed up for, like I could only be in a control 1.5 class by accident. To me, I equate that with a micro aggression. I can’t even begin to describe how that makes me feel, and I didn’t really process it until now, but I don’t appreciate that comment or assumption at all.

I remembered the comment because I was about to book a class here and I was trying to remember why I stopped going… That’s why. Even though I think she’s a great instructor, comments like this really ruined the experience for me. I switched fully to solidcore and pure barre where I’m never treated like I signed up by accident.

Besides that, Ben is amazing. I came here after trying Center and Balance (yes, Claire, I actually do know what that class is…) at another location (Rice military) and it was a very discouraging experience. However with Ben it’s the complete opposite. The lights were low, the music was calm, and he was very supportive and even helped me deep in my stretch within my ankles which is a growth area for me. he is the embodiment of excellence and more instructors should be like him. He seemed to just be happy that we showed up for ourselves and that is very encouraging.

I hope that Claire and this location can reflect on my experience and learn from this. It’s very bold to call people out my name but it’s also very bold to presume that I don’t know when I’m signing up forWhen I never said or implied that at all.

Club Pilates West U is a great studio. Bryan, the manager, is genuinely amazing - friendly, attentive, and always creating a welcoming vibe. The instructors are (mostly) all pretty good. Claire’s classes are truly the best—she’s talented, thoughtful, and brings so much positive energy. I also really enjoy Amelia’s classes. I really appreciate that no one films during class - it makes the space feel safe and respectful. If people start filming, I will cancel. They host fun workshops, and the location is super convenient. Highly recommend!

Joining Club Pilates has been one of the best decisions I’ve made! I absolutely love going—it’s become such an important part of my routine. The West U location is amazing, and Daisy is hands down my favorite instructor. She’s a beast in the best way, always pushing us while keeping the energy high. And her playlist? On point every time. If you’re looking for a great workout with an instructor who knows how to bring the vibe, this is the place!…. I haven’t looked at myself in the mirror this much in so long, I can see the difference.

Club Pilates West University is the absolute best! I’ve been doing Pilates for about 18 years and it started to feel a little monotonous. Club Pilates changed all that for me! The classes are always a great mix of chair, reformer, mat work and TRX. Instructors are amazing and always make your day brighter! Club Pilates West U is a game changer!!!

Pilates at Club Pilates West U has become part of my fitness / lifestyle routine. 50 mins to "come into the room" and be cued, challenged and stretched. The instructors are all amazing! How do I choose? They all bring something different and special which makes my unlimited membership GREAT since I can come 5 times a week and have a unique session every time. Amelia: Best, clearest cues -- although I still mess up -- and the most gentle "correction"; Arva: new kid on the block, love her routines; Ben: Ben at 4:30 on a Friday -- you are getting your weekend kicked off!; Brittany: Get your week started girl with her cardio-sculpt, bringing the energy; Claire: our resident ballerina!; Daisy:
we don't have her often, but when we do, ok, it's on! Lizzie: so encouraging; Nancy: get ready to burn, in the best way; Sally Jo: my heart, it's not just Pilates, its a positive mental moment. And I have had Bobbie once and scheduled for the new Intro to CP Circuit with her coming up. So how would I choose the "best" instructor --- put it this way: which part of this watch can you do without? None! We need them all!

An update in April, 2025. With almost 500 classes at Club Pilates at West U, I am still loving every class! There're so many talented instructors to work with. Daizy, Nancy and Sally Jo are my favorites. So fortunate to be trained by these inspiring instructors!

I love Club Pilates! It helped me heal from herniated disc injury. There are so many different ways using the reformer, chair, balance boards that each class is different and you learn something new. There are many different types and levels of classes that you can have a good varieties of exercise in one week. Many excellent instructors to work with! I love it because it is safe, effective and fun!

Love the classes, but I have to book the classes a week in advance to get into the class I want, because they are all booked. Once in a while I get in fast through the waitlist when someone cancels. If I end up cancelling is because they do not have that many afternoon options for those who work 8 to 5 pm. or on the weekend. I have been to classes where I am indirectly made to feel uncomfortable to be “in” because that is all they had available for me since I am still a beginner and I don’t want to waste my classes, and try to get into the 1.5 or other options I can try.

This was the first time that I had been to this studio but I have done many Pilates classes before. The class itself was great and very challenging. The instructor was very unwelcoming. She made rude remarks about other members in previous classes not knowing how to use equipment, being rude to me about not having the right equipment for this class, and when I did not know how to use something in the studio she barely helped me. Another person taking the class had to stop their workout to help me setup instead of the instructor. I’ve been to great Club Pilates studios but would not go back to this one because of how unwelcome I felt.

Ok so I signed up for a free class for later this week but for some reason I KEEP getting calls from them almost every day. I don’t answer. There’s no voicemail. And finally I just called them and told them to please remove me from everything and cancel my appt. I need to go to a place where I can just sign up, go to a clas, and be left alone.

Another year past and I still Love it.. the best workout and meditation 2in 1 session for me! The only time my mind and soul truly rest (able not to think about work) is in the moment .. And I even got my Teaching Certification! That must tell you how much I love pilates and recommend to everyone.

This studio offers a wide variety of classes. If you want a slow stretch class or cardio workout it is available. All instructors have been excellent but you can find ones that work best for you. I have been impressed with those instructors that really try to help those with special adjustments for height, pregnancy or joint replacements.

I started at Club Pilates after a long time of being inactive during the pandemic. It's been great for keeping me accountable, and I really get a great workout every time. Some instructors are better than others, and I definitely have my favorites (shoutout to Bobby, Ben, and Morgan!), but everyone is wonderful overall. It really just depends on your personal preference. Going on 6 months of the unlimited membership and will definitely keep going! It's pricey but so worth it.

Shady sales practiced beware! Club pilates offers a nationwide unlimited membership ($250 a month). Here they will claim that doesn't exist and the only unlimited is the one in "their network" (aka the ones that are owned are affiliated in that franchise). This does not include all houton locations. They do this because they get paid more if your membership is local to them. Dishonest.

This is a great studio for anyone looking for an approachable introduction to reformer Pilates. This studio delineates classes by different levels and class types. At first I enjoyed this, but it ended up complicating scheduling classes when it was difficult to get into intermediate classes with my favorite instructors.

I have been attending classes at this location since July 2021. I started with the 4 classes/month package and recently upgraded to unlimited.

My nature is un-bendy, uncoordinated, and generally miserable with exercise. That being said, pilates is amazing. I'm stronger, more balanced, and very pleased with my results. Each class is challenging and yet totally do able. I have progressed to the next level class and I continue to learn.

When Club Pilates says 'pilates is for every body,' they aren't kidding. The instructors are great and are always helpful with modifications to help each class participant.

If you know you need to move more and/or gain strength, check out pilates classes with Club Pilates.

Signed up for the 8 class pack after my free intro, after the first month I realized 8 classes was not enough and upgraded to unlimited! I love the variety of classes, especially the cardio and control classes, they are challenging and yet low impact. I have several old injuries that usually bother me but never have an issue with Pilates. Gaining muscles and moving my body has been such a blessing. Thankful for the friendly teachers too especially Nicole and Amelia!

The cancellation process is horrible. You have to request a form then discuss with the rationale for cancellation with the general manger. I had to request the form twice because they forgot to have the GM contact me. Then the GM talked me into freezing the account instead of canceling which requires a $15/month fee. There was no mention of this fee. Noticed it after the conversation and once paperwork was received via email. Now I have to request the cancellation form all over again. In the mean time, I’m still being charged for membership. It’s unfortunate when companies take advantage of clients this way.

This studio has wonderful staff and is in a convenient location!! It’s extremely clean and safe with their extra hard work from their team with COVID-19. They keep everyone socially distanced, keep the studio super sanitized. The community is the best and everyone has a great attitude. It’s so warm and welcoming!
