At Renew, our goal is to give anyone and everyone who walks through our door -- from the former collegiate athlete to the young professional to the stay-at-home mother of four -- a preparedness for life; to build a foundation strong and smart enough to fight sickness with fitness. And we believe firmly that thoughtful programming, intentional coaching, and a community of accountability are the keys to achieving that goal.

I did CrossFit Renew's postpartum program: "Rebuild." The first six weeks of personal training restored confidence in my ability to use my core muscles. I had not planked in 8 years, because I was so afraid of doing it wrong and hurting my already fragile postpartum core. I did this program 3 years after my third (and last) baby. I am so thankful to have found Coaches (Sadie & Jess) that understand the postpartum body and how to build muscle safely and effectively! I am stronger, more confident and more knowledgeable!

TL;DR -- you want to be a member at Renew.

I've dropped in to countless CrossFit gyms across the country, and was a member at a competing gym in Austin before that -- and all of them pale in comparison to Renew's incredible hospitality and community. These people care for the WHOLE person -- not just your reps or time or weight lifted (though they are the best cheerleaders in those arenas). And they genuinely want to see you succeed -- both in and out of the gym.

And since moving into the new space last year, they've been able to really return the favor as a staff -- spending more time with members in the gym to help work on weaknesses, provide PT services, CrossFit Kids classes, barbell classes, rope/kettlebell flow, nutrition coaching, prenatal and postpartum training and recently introducing a holistic lifestyle mentorship program that's been the gateway for people to really improve their lifestyle as a whole.

Anyway, Renew is awesome. And I've loved it since I was a wee member, I love it now as a seasoned vet, and I'll love it even more when I get to bring my kids in to grow up around such kind and hardworking people.

Top two reasons why I love crossfit: Community and challenging workouts that change daily. No more of the same old class every time you walk in the gym. This review is specifically pointed to Renew's pregnancy and postpartum program, Rebuild. To put it succinctly, if you are a woman in Austin that values your fitness (even if you're not a CrossFitter!) and plans to be pregnant, is pregnant or was recently pregnant, you need Coach Sadie Flynn and this program. I have been fitnessing for most of my life but preparing for and recovering from birth was very new to me. I had no idea how tough it would be returning to the gym but luckily Sadie truly has gone before me and she understands the challenges (physically, mentally and emotionally) that come with being an athlete (I use this word in the loosest sense, lol) and a new mom. I recently returned to group classes after 6-weeks of personal training with Sadie and I have no idea how I would have navigated this season on my own. Thank you CrossFit Renew and THANK YOU Sadie Flynn!

I just went through Renew's prenatal/postpartum program and am so grateful I did! The postpartum trainers are extremely knowledgeable and truly experts at what they do. And they were so comfortable to work with! Getting back to fitness after I had my baby was definitely a challenge - but I've already seen results in my fitness and body composition!

I've been at Renew for a few years, initially signing up as a re-entry back into Crossfit after having a baby (and post-Covid) to re-gain my physical self. What kept me at Renew is the incredible community and support from all the Coaches and fellow classmates. I spent the first few years just attending classes and enjoying the camaraderie until I realized it was time to finally take advantage of the Renew 360/Refuel program. Doing this has really changed my life in such unexpected ways. I just generally feel better about myself in a physical, mental and emotional sense. I've found a new confidence in myself in other areas as well and have set new goals well-beyond what I did before I had my son. I've been a runner for about 10-ish years and had to take a break during my postpartum years, but am back at it and was able to get into both Chicago and NY's Marathon in 2025. I just know I'm going to crush those races and it's due to all the guidance and support I've had over the years from Renew. I hope the crew knows how much I value them!

I am so thankful that I signed up for the Prenatal and Postpartum Program at Cross Fit Renew, I cannot recommend it enough. If you are able to sign up for this, do it! We worked on everything from breathing exercises to strengthening core muscles for delivery. I honestly have to say that a big reason I had such a smooth delivery was the work I did here.

The coaches are so encouraging, kind, and knowledgeable. They truly have a gift for this! I really enjoyed my sessions and looked forward to them every week. I also appreciated being encouraged and gently pushed but at a really moderate pace. The coaches really care and are passionate about helping you. I felt like they were always in your corner cheering you on and rooting for you. I will forever be grateful for such a positive and supportive community during my pregnancy.

I have seen many many CrossFit coaches over the years, and CrossFit Renew's coaching staff is one of the best. They are detailed, hold you accountable, truly care about your life, and want you to be all around better in life, not just in class.

Something that sets this gym apart is the variety of programs. Not only do they have CrossFit classes, but they also have weightlifting, personal training, prenatal/postpartum programs, nutrition, and more. I walked through the doors of CrossFit Renew after the birth of my first kiddo as I'd heard good things about Rebuild, their postpartum training program. I was a member of another gym at the time and had every intention of doing this program and going back to my regular gym.

Flash forward almost a year later and I’m still here. I came for Rebuild, which I can’t recommend highly enough, but stayed for so much more. Two things that stand out for me.

1. Coaches – I have never met a more supportive, caring, knowledgeable, and fun group of people. They will help guide and push you in a way that also meets you where you are at.

2. Adaptable Programming – CrossFit in particular can sound and feel really scary, especially to a newcomer. Having been to several different boxes, I really appreciate how flexible the programming here is. Every workout you are presented with 4 levels of options, which allow you to scale and work at your level while still being pushed. At past gyms, the workout was the workout, asking for a scaled option felt embarrassing or like you weren’t good enough. At Renew, every option is walked through with everyone in the class and I never feel “less than” by doing a scaled version. The trainers and community is are really supportive and you’ll find a wide variety of fitness levels within classes and it makes all the difference.

In the year I’ve been at Renew I’ve benefitted from Rebuild, personal training, group classes, and nutrition coaching and all have been a wonderful experience. Can’t recommend Renew enough!

For any pregnant/postpartum women out there looking to feel strong(er) in your body, I really can’t recommend the Rebuild program highly enough.

My wife and I joined CrossFit Renew 18 months ago when we moved to Austin. At the time, I had no fitness routine and pretty much never had at any point in my life. I wanted to change that and figured the total 180 from doing nothing was doing CrossFit.

I am currently 12 months postpartum with my first baby and just recently finished a half marathon thanks to the help of the staff at CrossFit Renew. This was a BIG TIME win for myself and something I wanted to accomplish prior to trying for baby number two. Time and time again, I tried a new gym and quickly gave up...until I found Crossfit Renew.

From the very first day, I felt like I was being set up for success. When I first joined, I felt incredibly limited. A short walk up the stairs would get me winded. Even standing or kneeling for short periods of time was challenging. But at every point, the coaches have met me where I am at. They taught me proper form and provided alternatives for every movement I could not yet do. Little by little, I have seen the improvement. Six months later, I have never felt better.

Between the classes and the Nutrition Program, I have ever felt more supported. In the Nutrition Program, for example, we have broken up nutrition into smaller, more manageable habits. From eating habits to sleeping habits, we talk about my holistic wellbeing, and look for obstacles and how to manage them. As a plus size woman, I appreciate that I get more than a simple, restrictive diet; I get customized advice, I always feel like we are working towards my health and fitness goals, rather than an arbitrary beauty standard.

The classes are small enough that we always get personalized attention and thorough feedback when needed, but large enough to build a sense of community. Everyone is always pushing hard, but I never get the sense that I am being judged by either the coaches or the other gym-goers. The staff patiently teach me new, more complex variations any time they see consistent improvement, and the other gym members encourage me to do my best, no matter what that may be that day.

It is easy to join a gym with tons of enthusiasm, only to burn out quickly when pushed too hard. But the coaches at Renew emphasize consistency and accountability. I truly believe I have been set up for success, and I cannot wait to see how the team at Renew keeps helping me improve my health and fitness.

As a larger bodied person, it's always been such a nerve-wracking experience trying to find a gym that supports my strength-building and overall health & wellness journey, that doesn't feel like a cold box where I'm just another name in their books. The coaches, whether in Group Classes or Personal Training, are simply the best. They help athletes of all levels meet their goals, and they genuinely care about them. There is no judgement anywhere.

Nutrition Coaching has helped me refocus and change my mindset about what it really means to be healthy — that eating nutrient dense meals, getting enough sleep, and moving my body all play a part in health & wellness. Yes, things I've all heard before but having someone to talk to about how I can just pick up where I left off and how this doesn't have to be an all or nothing approach to nutrition has been very comforting and eye-opening for me.

Apart from the incredible coaching, staff, and gorgeous (and well-kept) facilities, what has also struck me is the community at Renew. I'm pretty new to the gym and yet it feels like everyone is cheering me on - by name - and celebrating me as I finish out that day's workout. I've never experienced this before, and to be honest, I really like it.

What sets Renew apart to me is the culture. You can get a good workout at a lot of boxes, but Renew has got that and so much more.

They’ve achieved in their culture a fine balance to CrossFit that I think a lot of boxes lack.
They want you to lift heavy, but they also want your squat snatch to look like butter. And they’ll help you get there.
They want you to scale appropriately, but they’ll also call you out if you’re sandbagging a workout or lift.
They want you to be in the box often, but they are quick to tell you to recover well and take rest days.
They challenge you to have good nutrition and then they go a step further and offer opportunities that equip you with the knowledge and accountability to actually achieve good long term nutrition habits.

All that is great and then the people that back all that up are probably the best part of the culture. Everyone is super friendly, coaches and members. You can actually get to know people and make friends. Members have had house parties where the whole gym is invited. People compete with each other for leaderboard position but no one ever tears another person down with stupid side comments.

It’s a great gym. I never plan on leaving.

Had the opportunity to participate in the Core & Floor Workshop put on by CrossFit Renew earlier this summer. It was such an enlightening and hands-on workshop that touched on theory and allowed for practical application all in one. This was good foundational workshop for anyone wanting to build strength in their pelvic floor and I highly recommend! The coaches were a wealth of knowledge. The workshop also came with a personal training and pelvic floor physical therapy session that were really excellent in helping me target my specific areas of pain and building a program/routine around supporting that specifically.
I am not local to Austin but will be looking for opportunities to work with this team again!

My experience at this gym as been absolutely superb! Prior to joining this CrossFit gym, I had very limited exposure to workout classes and personal coaching. Though CrossFit is an expensive program/hobby, I’ve gained a lot in their nutrition program, workout classes, and personal coaching. I just completed my first ever series of personal training with Lex Gray at Crossfit Renew and had an incredible experience. As I told Lex, I am often hard to please given my high expectations and that I am very specific and particular in what I want out of a service. Lex did an incredible job of tailoring my training to fit all my requests. Upon completing my training, I feel way more confident in my form on my compound lifts, have created a more diverse workout routine, and have added the often missing element of rest and recovery. She did a phenomenal job assisting me, and I appreciate the added bonus of being able to able to pick my own music for sessions. I have been apart of this community for well over 10 years, and I can say without any hesitation that these people care. They care about me, my family and my health. The nutrition coaching is the most realistic and practically nutrition coaching I have ever had. As someone who has been a serial dieter since the age of 12 ( yikes ) and has been swept into every “loose 10lbs quick” scam, its refreshing to have someone look at my life and my goals and just give me healthy and practically tools to make better choices. No matter what your current fitness level is, or your familiarity with CrossFit you should check CrossFit Renew out and give them a shot, you will not regret it.

There aren't enough good things I can say about Renew. I only lived in Austin for a year, but it's already one of the things I miss the most about the area. It will be the gold standard that I hold all future gyms to, and I don't think it'll be a fair fight.

It's a nice space with plenty of well-maintained equipment for the class sizes. The programming is top-notch with an emphasis on cardio and gymnastics with a healthy amount of weight lifting thrown in as well. They put a huge emphasis on having scaling options available, serving everyone from competitive athletes, to college students, to people who can't (or won't) run a mile, to women who are very pregnant.

The community is outstanding, from the first class we attended I felt welcome and encouraged by other members. I quickly got to know many of them well from class and other community events and they are among the folks I cherish most in Austin.

And finally the coaches are beyond great. People who really know their stuff and are deeply invested in the members and the community. Extremely encouraging, but also able to give feedback and pointers to people who have been doing CrossFit for years.

This CrossFit gym is a model for what an affiliate should look like--or really any exercising community. As a larger-sized person, I do a great deal of research before joining any gym to ensure that it's a good fit. Different ages, body types, and abilities are all represented at this gym and the coaches do a fantastic job of meeting each athlete and adapting/challenging them to reach their own fitness goals. Renew is a place that I know I can confidently go into and feel genuinely seen by the coaches, whether it's asking how my day's going or knowing my goals and helping me get there. I feel truly coached by the coaches in a way that pushes me but also keeps in mind form correction or any scaling that may need to happen. I just went through their Rebuild program (pregnancy and postpartum) and worked one on one with a coach to progress me to my fitness goals in a safe manner. Absolutely love this place, especially the people! When people talk about community in CrossFit there is no other gym that shows up like this gym. I moved to the other side of town and still go to class twice a week, even with a newborn at home. The pregnancy/postpartum program was a great experience for me to stay connected with my fitness even with my life and identity changing entirely. No matter who you are or what place your in with your body, the coaches work with you constantly to make sure you are comfortable, scaled appropriately and have the right form for movements so they are the most effective. I've been a long-time member of Crossfit Renew, and recently completed their "Rebuild" program for postpartum moms. This was my second child, and this approach to getting back in the gym was so much more thoughtful than the first time around for me. Fitness is one thing. Fitness during pregnancy and postpartum is another. While Becky, Mckenzie and Justin were helping my regular fitness routine, Sadie helped me during pregnancy and postpartum with the Rebuild program specially designed for expecting ladies and new mommas. I recently left Austin and Renew is easily one of the things I miss most about the city. I was a member here for about 2.5 years and I cannot imagine starting CrossFit anywhere else.

Programming/Coaching:

Constantly varied, organized, and challenging. Some gyms I’ve dropped in try to fit in so much in the hour to where I feel rushed the whole time. At Renew, they focus on the quality impeccably. All the coaches have the skill of commanding and managing the class as a whole, but also providing 1:1 when you need it. I’ve always felt confident to push myself safely whether to go faster, lift heavier, and even get that muscle up! Coaches are all fun and amazing folks. Like a coach who wants to yell and push you to PR your deadlift? Check. Want a coach who will give you the pointers then watch silently because you feel weird with all eyes on you (aka me). You got it! They are incredibly transparent and organized about everything they do. You clearly see it in their social media presence on Facebook and Instagram.

Facility:

Even pre-COVID, they’ve always done a good job maintaining a nice, organized, and clean space. There is just a good flow to it all. So whether you’re dropping in and need to “check-in”, cubbies to put your stuff, a seating area waiting for class to start, meeting 1:1 with a coach in the office, figuring where all the equipment is... it’s all there and easy to find! They are in a strip mall with a not so busy parking lot which also gives them space to do all our favorites like lunges and farmer’s walks. Plenty of bikes and rows, so there's always enough to go around during the WOD.

The People and Community - I always joke-hate the ice breakers they make us do when warming up, but it’s the little things that makes the difference. As a whole, the gym is incredibly intentional on why and how they create a community. Whether it is supporting your endeavor outside the gym or checking in on you during the Snowpocalypse, it all creates the investment and support for one another in the gym organically.

Tldr; Come for the fitness, stay for the fitness and people.

I was a member for just less than two years. I only recently had to stop going because of an ankle injury (not CrossFit related...trampoline incident) and will miss the people and workouts. I am not the most athletic or coordinated person therefore was always very intimidated by the gym. The coaches and members at Renew always made me feel very comfortable and safe in order to help me reach my fitness goals.

Dropped in at Renew last Friday and was left speechless. I have been a little hesitant to go to the gym because of the "COVID-19" outbreak -- but I was left impressed with the protocols they had in place to ensure a sanitary workout (or WOD, if you will) environment. Coach Brett did a great job of coaching and explaining new cues that I had never thought of before on the olympic lifting technique called the "snatch". I’m a nurse and started coming to renew about a month before lockdown! Loved it! When quarantine started I was disappointed to not go to physical classes but the online workouts were awesome! They use an easy to use app where I could send my couch my questions and they could check in on me and all the moves of each workout had a video demonstration to go along with it! Love the Renew Crew! Recently our training has gone online because of Covid, but that hasn’t stopped us from getting to continue to improve our fitness. The online program has been great and the coaches spend a lot of time helping us think through our personal goals and what we have available to us. The coaches and owner are all wonderful, knowledgeable, and genuinely nice, fun-loving individuals that truly strive to provide you the best, individualized gym experience imaginable. I came into Renew with no experience, and every new member runs through their Foundations Program with one of their coaches to build a strong beginner’s base wherein I could focus in on areas that needed improvement going forth. They are focused on keeping your body safe and have many modifications for all fitness levels, and they check-in with you in order for you to set new personal goals AND just want to know how you’re feeling overall. Renew has definitely created a unique atmosphere and culture that instantly draws attraction. Moreover, I believe their membership packages to be reasonable compared to other ATX CrossFit gyms. I've been a member of many boxes, and Crossfit Renew has the tightest community I've ever seen. It brings in members across a variety of age, color and skill sets, and yet everyone is so friendly and engaged. I love their monthly events and community workouts. The programming is also great! I've never seen a higher concentration of athletes who can consistently do ring muscle ups!

Never really done CrossFit before (or any sort of exercise, let's not kid ourselves) and this is a great place to start. Everyone's super nice and willing to help out. Always encouraging one another and having a great time. There are monthly community events that get people together to do more than just work out (although, they may start with workouts! haha).
There are all sorts of body shapes here and there's a good sense of community. Everyone cares about each other.
As far as facilities go, the gym space is perfect for probably max 10-12 in a class and I haven't seen it go much beyond that apart from the weekly free class Saturday mornings, but they still make it work.
There's bathrooms with showers in case you're going somewhere else after and need to look like you didn't just do 75 burpees.
They have all the equipment there, so you don't need to bring anything besides your sweet A to get started.
Justin, McKenzie, Brett, Becky, and Sadie are all great coaches and provide fun and encouraging classes.
I don't know; I just like it.

I loved my time at Renew (Unfortunately, I just moved)!!! The coaches were...actual coaches. They actually knew what they were doing and they care more about the person than just getting them to lift a lot of weights. They do an awesome job of 1) getting you warmed up 2) making sure you know how to do the movements correctly before adding weight and 3) encouraging you during the workout regardless of your fitness level 4) making you feel a part from the beginning. It really felt like I was a part of a community while I was there. I got strong. I had fun. Now I miss that crew.

I started going to Renew a couple of months ago, as my first experience with a CrossFit box. This place is delivering a lot more than I expected before I started: The facilities are well equipped and super clean, the coaches are very knowledgeable, dedicated, and always willing to explain and help, and the community (coaches and members) is awesome: super nice, very supportive, and makes you feel welcome from the start.

If you never did CrossFit before (and likely even if you did), you'll need guidance to learn good technique to make the best out of the movements. The coaches at Renew always take the time to explain the proper way to do things before starting the workout, and as you work out they let you know what you need to pay attention to and correct, specially if you are new to the place, and even if they happen to be participating in the workout instead of leading it (which is just awesome).

Highly recommended, and kudos to all people involved for making of Renew a great, professionally run, and welcoming place for CrossFit

My friend and I were in town for the weekend from Ohio and came here to workout on a Saturday. Lindsey, Justin, and everyone else we met were so nice and helpful. I really enjoyed the warm up and cool downs they did. We were planning on going to a different crossfit gym to workout on Monday but we loved it so much there that we decided to go again. The facilities, including the showers, were probably the cleanest I’ve seen of any CrossFit gym I’ve been to. I'm 47 years old and an orthopedic surgeon. I really love this place. I don't feel pressure to go beyond what my body can handle and can adjust the workout to fit my abilities. That said, I also definitely get a better calorie burn than I would ever get on my own. Cookie pouch is coming off...slowly. The community is awesome with just the right mix of serious exercise and levity. Every class the coaches spend time making sure your technique is correct in order to minimizes injuries. Highly recommend!

I started going to CrossFit Renew when it opened years ago. Not having any experience before with CrossFit the coaches have taught me a lot over the years and I LOVE it so much! Renew is a place that anyone can come and feel welcome! It feels like family and I miss my people when I’m not able to come.
A lot of CrossFit boxes are super competitive but I feel like Renew has a good balance. Anyone can come to Renew if you are born an athlete or if you have never done CrossFit before. The coaches are awesome at helping people modify to their abilities and strengths and then also pushing those that need to be pushed!
I have been to many drop ins and some that truly no one has come up to me to introduce themselves, even coaches. But at Renew they are so friendly that they make everyone feel right at home!!!
