I have a membership here and the gym and classes are great but the spray tan machine is horrible they do not clean it and unclog it there for the tan doesn’t really show up. They seriously need to do something about this.

My husband and I recently decided to come back to the gym and we were helped by Fernando and James right away! They are very knowledgeable and genuine with all the amenities they offer here. This place must be going broke! There aren’t any paper towels to clean the machines. This is probably turning into a cesspool with germs building up. I’m probably going to have to start bringing my own cleaning supplies with me. I’m already set in place here. I just need to shop around for a new place! Ugh!!!

After sticking with this gym for almost two years now, I am going to say that conditions with this particular facility have not improved much at all. The gym is consistently dirty with equipment that has not been fixed. The faucet in the men’s room has been broken for almost a year now. What does that have to say about the management? They are not qualified to manage a facility like this and have no experience in doing so either. They obviously don’t care about all their customers who depend on them to manage this place exceptionally. We all are paying a monthly fee and on top of that, we also pay a yearly fee. Where is the money going?!

If you are looking for a great gym to go to, don’t pick this one! This one is less than mediocre at best.

I called to find out why my membership jumped from the $10 a month to over $17 a month with no notice. A girl named Chloe answered the phone and said she was the “manger at the time.” She said they don’t notify people of when their contract ends and there’s nothing she can do about it. I asked her for corporate’s number and she said she didn’t have it, even though she was the manager, and the only thing I could do was to go into the gym to cancel my membership. Way to keep your customers…not that they actually care.

Been going here for years. Cancelled my membership when I got sick because I wasn't able to go for a while.
After a few months told them I'm ready to come back and start up again. They said they never cancelled it and because they didn't do that, that I would have to pay multiple months worth of dues or they'd send me to collections. I'm trying to be a paying customer and they want to threaten me and charge me after I cancelled? CRAZY

I absolutely adore this place. Have been going to this gym for as long as I can remember. Always clean. Very good machines. They’re smooth and feel natural.

I love the people here! Especially the employees!! CJ always has the biggest smile and is always helpful and extremely kind. Chloe is the sweetest girl I’ve ever met and I always love talking with her! Bailey is always super nice and cheerful! Rebecca and John are also extremely kind and inviting to be around.

If you’re looking for a gym with everything you need, good people, and a fair price, I’d recommend this place!!

Take your business somewhere else. I had the 32 dollar monthly membership which states cancel any time no contract. I attempted to cancel do to not being able to go any more. Im a disabled vet who can not get around easily. I hadn't gone in for a month after it charged my card I attempted to cancel so I didnt pay the following month. And they said come in to cancle I can not drop in to cancel after 2 .months of not going I had to replace my card and they put me in a negative status and after another month of not going they are telling me they will send to collections.. my bill which is now $62. They are stealing from me even tho I haven't used there facilities in over 3 months and online customer service is no help.

Prior to this experience, everything was great! However, I decided to get my own membership and the lady who signed me up specifically said that I’d be able to cancel my membership a week after in order to not pay the annual fee. By doing so, I’d be able to get a feel for the gym. Unfortunately, when attempting to cancel my membership in person, the manager told me that I would still have to pay my annual fee on top of three monthly payments. On top of that, the manager decided to give an attitude, which is extremely unprofessional. This was not once explained to me when signing my contract, and now I am dealing with their management team. I would give this place 0 stars if I could, and I’d recommend everyone to go to Club4 fitness instead. Club4 has new equipment, same price, and a better management team. Do better Crunch.

I never had a private trainer. Everything That I see on TV they’re overbearing, excessively motivated, and just yell all the time. I was hesitant to come to crunch fitness however it happened. When they told me about this Personal Trainer thing, I was even more hesitant. Everything I thought and knew about personal training, ended up being a total incomplete fabrication. Abram is not only a great trainer. He’s a good person. Us having things in common such as being prior military, he knows how to motivate and lead the correct way. He understands that you don’t have a cookie cutter or a one size fit all workout program. He detail one workout for me each and every day it’s something different. And something totally different for my wife as well for us to reach our own personal goals. I can’t recommend him more than I do now. My wife likes him, and if you know her, it’s high praise. If I had to choose one thing, and now I’m being picky, I would suggest getting a larger turf. However, I would say five star all day long! Thanks Abram.

I would give this 0 stars if I could, I got a membership almost two years ago and I have been trying to cancel it for well over a year and a half and they continue to charge my card every month and say I have to come in person to cancel it but I have moved out to Los Angeles, which is wild I don’t understand why there is no option where I’m calling and telling you to cancel it or I can’t cancel the membership online like I was told I would be able to do. If you want a quicker summary of why you should probably skip this place, just skip to my last paragraph. If you want more details feel free to read through but this is mostly to vent.

Billing and sales practices are somewhat dishonest and predatory in my opinion. This is on par with any commercial gym as you can see all of the other one star reviews ripping them for it. When you sign up, they will be deliberately misleading about how much and when you will be charged. Classic car dealership tactics: Talk fast, hand you a bunch of misleading promotional papers and rush you into signing a contract with a lot of small words and multiple pages. At base membership level, you are”paying 10 dollars a month” but in 3 months I never paid anything less than 20 dollars. In fact, 3 months of membership costed me about 130 dollars. VERY far from “10 dollars a month”.

The workers here are just corporate robots. When you try to bring up any issues they will just sit there and restate rules and policies like chat gpt. And all of it of course points back to you being at fault. It will always be YOUR fault that you were deceived or mislead by the hiring manager.

Multiple times I got charged 10 dollar late fees even though my payment is linked to a credit card that is either consistently paid off/kept on a low balance and being paid to. Addressed this with my bank and they said it was likely on crunch’s end. Talked about it with them and they just blamed my bank. I have had no other issues with recurring payments on the same card so I am inclined to believe that this is on crunch’s end. Nonetheless, I was told these late fees were non refundable so the only one losing in this situation is me.

Cancelling your membership will also be a pain as they will try to lock you into a year long contract. There’s ways around this but it’s just a pain. They fail to mention that”click to cancel” only applies when you apply for membership online. If you apply in person, good luck getting off the hook. It’s also worth adding that many people I see on here or even know personally have complained about crunch billing them for months after cancellation.

The equipment is also just not very impressive. Machines are constantly broken and can stay that way for multiple weeks at a time. If you want to do chest/rear delt flys expect to be waiting for half of your workout because they have exactly 1 machine. This is far from the only instance where you will have to wait. For the demand in the area, this gym is severely under equipped.

To keep it short, just use a local gym. Less funny business and honestly, with all of the hidden fees crunch charges you, you will be paying just about the same if not less while supporting a local business. Not to mention I have received better treatment and much more transparency at local gyms compared to commercial ones. And of course, canceling at these places is MUCH easier.

Every time I visit this Crunch Fitness location, I leave disappointed. The gym is consistently dirty and overcrowded. There’s not enough equipment to accommodate the number of people using the space, and there are never any wipes or spray available to clean the machines — which is a basic hygiene expectation, especially in a shared workout environment. Trash is regularly left around the workout areas, and it feels like cleanliness and upkeep just aren’t a priority here.

Unfortunately, this is the only Crunch location in Lubbock, or I would’ve switched long ago. But at this point, I’ve decided to start looking elsewhere. I need a gym that values its members’ health, safety, and experience — and this one just doesn’t.

BE AWARE! Crunch on their website does give you an easy streamlined way to cancel. Yet at physical locations, they LOVE making it harder. They add a 30 day notice for cancellations (not how it works), they make you sign a cancellation document (according to corporate it's ONLY a cancellation letter you need to give them), they will purposely delay cancellations to charge next months, and on several occasions did crunch charge people for broken equipment...you know, things used by MANY people not just one. None of which is actually legal.

You want to cancel without dealing with them? Call your bank and tell them the crunch charges are fraudulent after the day you left, that way you stop the charges. If you're bank is good, they WILL do a fraud investigation. Trust me when I say this, they will keep charging your account and even threaten to place your account in collections. Funny enough...that's not how any of it works. I had been charged 500.00 for months after I told them I was going to cancel. What's funnier is the charge was dropped at the end of my banks fraud investigation. What they have on corporate page and their contact is actually different, misleading and deceptive. They even sent a text to come back and "no hard feelings". The audacity!

If i could give this place a minus zero stars I would. My membership started out pretty nice. After a coyple.weeks I was invited to do a free training session just to see if I liked it. I did but inwas honest with the trainer and told him, look I have 2 jobs and I clean houses on the side plus I run a full t8me ministry so I don't really have time to be in here on your schedule. If I come it would be like at 3am or 4am. So his manager came over and I explained the same damm thing. He said oh don't worry whenever you can't make it in, just let me know we will freeze the account and non-payment for the training will come out. Lies all lies! First Connor left and told me his manager had froze my account till June nope that was a lie my bank got hit for $110 plus I paid my $36 membership a few days later. When I went up there I spoke to another guy who said my manager will call you Monday. Nobody called me but ingot a text a week after that from another trainer and I said no! I dont have time right now I didn't get my money back they said oh well you have 2 sessions paid for. No shit! I think I know that. So then I talk to another manager and he's like oh I froze your account till 9/2025 . Well I got up this morning and my account was hit again by crunch for $133 ?????? I told him this morning he had better cancel all my membership. This is ridiculous. His name is Alex.

First time coming to Crunch Fitness in Lubbock. The place was clean and the array of equipment is great. Only thing I’d say is I wish they had a regular leg curl machine that doesn’t have the extra pad on it like what they have at planet fitness like the black and blue machine shown. Besides that, it’s a great place to pump iron and get some cardio in. I’ll be back sooner than later and will at least get the base membership.

Beware before you join Crunch. They won't let you cancel your membership the way it states online, on the corporate website. Guess what? You HAVE TO go into the gym to "sign a document," did you move for work? Doesn't matter, they still require you to sign document, so, now you have to mail them a signed document to cancel your membership and it takes one to two weeks to process, according to Lubbock Crunch. Now, here is the kicker, if you didn't give an 30 DAY NOTICE, it doesn't matter if you are cancelling two weeks before your next billing date. They will still stick you with another payment before they let you go, you know, to make sure they make you pay for all of the failing gym equipment.

Beware of predatory billing. Sister was charged $1,080 without explanation and this place has made it nearly impossible for her to cancel. Though I’ve encouraged her to report to the Texas attorney general and TDLR, she is a little unwilling. It appears that in her case, under the Texas Health Spa Act, this place has violated §702.304, §702.311, §702.311(b), and §702.312. I will not disclose further details of her situation.

I’d like for people who have trouble cancelling their memberships (or found it increasingly difficult to do so) to do the following:
Carefully review contract terms before signing.
Cancel memberships upon WRITTEN request.
If necessary, file formal complaints to the BBB and FTC.

**STAY AWAY** Bailey/Zochi name she gave me was Zochi but cancel paperwork says bailey whichever she goes by, was incredibly rude while trying to cancel my membership after paying the annual fee as well as membership fee last month.. I simply wanted to cancel my membership, she felt the need to tell me how banks work, how the membership would work, I asked several times for the explanation to stop yet she persisted adamant in getting her way and the last word... Iv come for years and years off and on. This is the only interaction I've had that is cross. I have canceled my membership on the charge date, I have not been charged for next month's membership. I do not want a membership at this gym. After having spent $100 the past 2 months for the membership I have that right and choice period. Canceled membership around 6: 45

Edit 4-5-25, they are trying to charge me $42 for a $25 membership claiming late fees. IV never dealt with the late fees and don't know when they started. Over $150 in the past 2 months for this membership. On my way up there to find out how many of these late fees they can apply to me and how high this debt can climb. Stay away from this place. It's not what it used to be.

I had to cancel my membership due to hip surgery. It felt like I was dealing with robots when speaking to the front desk. No consideration of my situation at all; they stated that I needed to come in to sign the cancellation form. As immobile as I was, it felt like I was being held hostage just my small monthly membership fee. They asked for confirmation that I had surgery via MAIL, as if digital means like fax or email don't exist.

"I feel you sir....", no you don't you robot. They are very good at reading rules to you, like a robot.

Heads up to anyone signing up for a membership; if you get injured/sick and need to cancel your membership, they will try to milk you dry.

If I could give this gym zero stars, I would. Their business practices are completely unethical and predatory, especially toward young college students. They make it ridiculously easy to sign up online, but if you want to cancel? Good luck. You have to do it in person—and if you’ve moved they tell you to send in a letter that is mysteriously never received.

Their contract is intentionally deceptive, locking you into payments you cannot cancel. It’s clear they count on people not reading the fine print so they can keep charging your account.

Overall it's a great environment! Like any commercial gym it does have its peak busy times which is why I changed my schedule to workout in early morning hours with my wife. Problem solved! The staff is all around satisfactory and generally helpful. The facilities are satisfactory and pretty clean. Only complaint i have personally would be the restroom and showers needing more frequent attention to deep cleaning. I use the shower almost daily but is seems that they only ever get lightly cleaned. Other than that it's a great facility with a good selection of equipment for beginners to moderately experienced lifters. Pricing is not bad at all! The daycare is an awesome perk for parents! Haven't had an issue with dropping the kids off and going through a 2 hour session yet!

This gym is in a great location, and it's open 24/7. It's behind Hook and Reel, the seafood restaurant, and not too far off the south loop, so that makes it very convenient.

The staff are friendly and helpful. The interior is kept nice and clean, and members always seem to wipe the equipment after use.

It's got a clean feel and smell to it, unlike its competitor, Planet Fitness. The men's restroom is also well kept, and I haven't had any issues thus far.

Overall, I've had good experiences with the equipment at this location. I do wish the gym had more than one Smith machine. Also, the staff is usually friendly and helpful with the exception of one long blonde haired fellow on the early morning shift. Every single time that he works he is talking to one or two of his buddies that just come there to hang out apparently. He does not get off his chair to greet you upon arrival or exit. I have seen him come out of the janitors closet with that one "buddy" (female friend) coming out shortly after him. I have stood at the counter for 10 to 15 minutes one morning waiting to tan, finally had to hunt the janitor down to find him. He was in a dark room (the closed kids Daycare room) for some reason. Every time he works the weights are strewn about and the towels are empty. I'm not saying that is his job or it isn't, but if he has time to sit and talk to his friends that come to his job just to hang out, I would think he'd have 5 minutes to pick some weights up off the floor.

Update: They also stalker call you if you don't let them squeeze the last months payment out of you. Their policy is that you have to pay for another month AFTER you cancel the membership. If you can afford better do not entertain this gym.

Thanks to ' Manager' Avery, she made my decision to cancel my membership so easy! I am a highschool coach here in Lubbock and due to my schedule I had not been able to use my membership for 6 months. Yet still to make every payment with our incident . I called and asked to speak to a manager and Avery was very deceptive, asking why I needed a manager but failed to state she was the manager on shift! Asked me twice what I needed the manager for after I told her I rather just speak to the manager she stated she was the manager, ( what's that about) are you only able to assist customers only based on what they need or are you a competent manager willing to assist all customers with their concerns?
I noticed because I was calling to cancel she didn't want to be the one to have her name attached to a cancellation so she was dismissive and quite frankly not suited to uphold a managerial position based on how she handled that call. I will be sure to let athletes and parents know not to join Crunch after such an off-putting experience and I'm glad to be ending partnership with Crunch.

Customer service is horrible here. I am not from here but I was I was here out of town for my grandmas funeral. I just wanted to get a workout in to try and clear my head some. I walk in and whoever was working the counter just looked at me and turned back around and continued to talk to someone on the other side of the counter just talking and laughing. Another guy sees me and doesn’t say anything until a minute or 2 later and tells me to wait on the side because it’s going to be a minute before he can help me. As others behind the counter helped other people as they came in. I ended up leaving and going to another gym where they treated me with respect and compassion.

I've tried most gyms in Lubbock but Crunch is still the one I like the most. When I go I usually run most of the time and they have plenty of treadmills that I never have to wait.

Dropped the review to 3 stars because of how annoying it is that you will get kicked off the turf and functional area if there is a workout class. Even if it’s 30 minutes before they start and there are only 2 people in the class like most of the time.

They have all the equipment I could need for arms/legs as well as space to do functional workouts.

Dropped to 2 stars for how hard it was to cancel. Ended up having to pay an extra 2 months even after done because of an error and timing of billing cycles.

Updating my original review. As far as I know my account has been resolved and i have confirmation that my membership has been canceled.

I was a member here for roughly 2 years with my husband. The gym is clean and though equipment is limited. I do enjoy the message beds and tanning. After a ton of research I found a gym more accommodated for my family and I. But, Nick was very helpful and seemed to understand where I was coming from.

Decent for the price. Good hours. But always packed, and a lot of equipment is always out of order. They keep the bathrooms pretty clean which is nice. There’s frequently some self centered weird kids throwing footballs and soccer balls around while actual lifters are trying to squat and deadlift, certainly a safety hazard to be throwing balls around in a lifting gym. Not sure why staff don’t put a stop to that. Last time I told those kids off they just stood there arguing and bickering about how throwing a football around a confined while actual lifters lift is somehow not a safety hazard.

Good staff that stays out of your way, good set up. My only complaint is it can be crazy busy certain times of the week but that’s literally every gym. I haven’t had much trouble avoiding the crowds after figuring out a good schedule.

Their employees can be a bit of a mixed bag. Some are fine, but some are macho dudes who are just there to be lazy or try to flirt with everybody. I think that’s still an every gym thing though. They do seem to have an incredibly high turnover rate, though, so for better or worse they’re usually not there for long.

My boyfriend moved and has been trying to cancel his membership for over a month and they keep making excuses like “the manager has been sick for weeks and that she is the only one that can cancel”. Crunch is a great place the best priced package is $30 a month cause you get everything from working out by yourself to workout with a group in classes. You also get hydro beds which work out your sore muscles with water massage therapy. You get tanning (regular(laying or standing)or spray(bronze or clear) ) there is childcare(at certain times) body scans (which help you know where you are) personal trainers for the classes you book it on the app or at the help station. Everyone is really nice and don’t feel like I am next to people that are way advanced so not intimidating. I would recommend this place to anyone PLUS they are open 24/7 so you can go when you can.

I like crunch, my biggest complaint is that there are a few machines that are highly used and there's only one or two and it's a struggle getting a set in on them because they are always being used. Other than that, it's clean, and the staff are nice.

Nick and his staff are fantastic! I've never joined a gym, before Crunch, and I can honestly say that this has been an extremely positive experience. There are so many workout options, ranging from the Cardo equipment, to free weights and many different strength training machines. The hydro-massage is fantastic and a welcome treat for a good workout. The staff has been very helpful with showing me how different machines work, that I'm unfamiliar with. I also highly recommend the CrunchOne session, with a trainer. I learned so much, from doing that, that I will definitely benefit from it in the long-run! Crunch is awesome and I highly recommend it!!!

We all know Christmas is an expensive time of year. I came into crunch to cancel & I was informed that I could pause instead. Come to find out, you have to pay no matter what before you cancel. Well, that stressed me out. The manager. Nick, came to my rescue & got my account figured out & was a great help. I love the gym & the classes. Definitely recommend.

The last time I was there was 2020. I didn't like that they didn't give me medical freedom. Being forced to wear a mask is not right, and not being 6 feet of a person is not right either. Wearing a mask is like putting a plastic bag on your head. Not allowed to socialize is bad for mental health .

Machines broke when I went there, people didn't clean the machines, communication and billing needs work there.

Only God knows how many people go into the wrong locker room, pretending they are the opposite sex. That is endangering women and kids.

Nice gym, occasional equipment issues but it a gym. You get what you put into it. Plenty of cardio, free weights and solid area to stretch and do various exercises. Staff is friendly. One thing I will mention is they are always cleaning around the gym which is worth noting. It’s nice to walk into a clean gym knowing everyone in there is sweating and dirtying up all the equipment.

I love the staff at the front desk. Come in for a onetime visit or sign up for a membership and they’d be happy to help. I joined crunch for weightlifting, but they have tons of ellipticals and free weights to accommodate the amount of people. The only negative I have is that 5-8pm can be very busy, sometimes waiting 10+ minutes to get in on machines but that’s the case at most gyms in my experience.

●April & Melanie have been the heart & soul of Kid's Crunch for many years. I have told every single GM that has been in charge that they need/ deserve raises. Not sure why the company doesn't do more to treat them better and hold onto these gems. I
am always 100% comfortable leaving my children with them as they have watched them grow up and treat them as their own. I don't feel this way about just anyone.I have been informed that April has quit, and Melanie turned in her notice. This isn't the first time this location has lost Melanie- they were lucky to get her back.
Several of the other ladies have quit as well. The last few days there is only ONE person working in the Kid's Crunch Area. That is just insane to expect one person to have so many children to look after- especially since the ages range from 6 month Olds to 12 year olds.It's really near impossible for them to be able to watch every single child with how busy it gets.
Madi, Tara and Divinity are really the only ladies left- for how much longer who knows. Please do what you can to keep these remaining three.
●The Kid's Crunch area could really use more toys, games, activities etc. for the children. There's plenty of room for a play structure like the Frisco, TX location has.
Be aware that you can no longer bring your baby starting at 3 months old even though it has been that way since this location opened in 2018. This has been changed to 6 months- so good luck getting your workout in if you don't have someone to watch your child.
●Pavi is the BEST group fitness instructor. She is energetic, fun, motivating, the list could go on. I loathe missing her classes, throughly enjoy them when I can attend. Working out is never boring when she is in charge. She cares about every single person in class. Thank you Pavi for never giving up on me and keeping in touch.
●Front desk- Cam is an absolute all-star. He is always cheerful and helpful, never without a smile. My son adores him and Cam always gives a hug, wave or fist bump. He acknowledges every single member coming and going.
He too, deserves a raise. This coming Tuesday is his last day. It seems this location can't keep awesome employees.
Isaac is another friendly person that we enjoy seeing. He is happy and helpful every single time.
Hopefully, he won't be leaving anytime soon.
●As far as equipment goes, there is a decent variety. Certain machines seem to be broken more often that others. The hip adductor is frequently broken. It may be repaired for a few days but enevitably it has sign posted again that it is down. It would be nice if it would stay in working order and if the gym had another machine comparable.
The hydromassage chairs have had many problems lately as well.
●Watch your account and make sure you get charged the correct amount. There have been several occasions where I was overcharged and double charged. It was super frustrating getting it straightened out. I understand mistakes happen, but it became quite ridiculous.
I have also been booked for PT sessions that I never signed up for and received receipts for items never purchased. While nothing came out of my direct account- it is troublesome that this has happened.
The management changes up frequently so maybe things will be better when Nick leaves. Bailey would truly be y'alls best bet as the new GM.
Y'all may want to go over professionalism with staff- particularly management. One person was flipping off another employee. While this person was working out/not on duty -it just doesn't look good that an upper management member would do that to a subordinate.

I'm truly not sure how much longer we will be members here given all that has gone on.
The uncertainty of the Kid's Crunch Area makes it hard to stay.

Signed up my wife for personal training with certified trainer. Was told that payment would be biweekly from day of signing contract then got bill twice two days afterwards. I was told by the trainer manager that account would be credited and would be charged next biweekly scheduled payment but like always charged again. Went in person to get refund and situation solved and was told several times that they put refund a cash and would need to change to check or credit. It been several weeks now same story and run around. Very disappointed with how this is being handle I should have followed my gut and decline the personal training. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me kind of feeling!

My experience with this location has been amazing. Lots of great equipment, and enough so even during prime busy time there still is equipment available. Very clean, great staff, other gym goers here are very kind as well. Tanning for winter time, plenty of stair machines, nice hydro massage for faster recovery, AND open 24 hrs. LOVE. I am new to Lubbock and I have a crunch membership back home. When I was here I was using the crunch gym here so I decided to cancel my membership. When I arrived at the gym location an individual named Logan greeted me. After I explain the reason for my visit he took time to ask me why I was trying to cancel my membership, for me mainly not knowing where the equipment located was enough to want to cancel. He then gave me the tour of the Lubbock location as well as getting to know my fitness goals. Nice to say I didn’t cancel my membership and have a new fitness goal to work towards!!
