Avoid this place at all costs — the way they handle billing and communication is unbelievably unprofessional.

This gym repeatedly hits you with surprise charges, refuses to take responsibility for their own mistakes, and hides behind fine print instead of being transparent. The customer service is dismissive, unhelpful, and seems designed to make sure you pay for their errors.

Here’s what happened:

1. Three charges for one service.
My girlfriend had to book the body scan three separate times because they couldn’t get their act together — the machine was broken the first time, the trainer didn’t show up the second time, and only on the third try did she finally get the scan. Despite that, they charged her for all three appointments. When we brought it up, they blamed us for not reporting their own no-shows and technical problems. They refused a refund even though the extra charges were entirely due to their failures.

2. Misleading membership information.
I spoke with the manager, Liz, about adding myself to my girlfriend’s membership. She explained the new monthly rate and very clearly told me that we could go back to the original plan at any time with no fees. That turned out to be false — downgrading comes with a $20 processing fee that was never mentioned. When I pointed this out, their response was basically, “It was in the agreement,” instead of acknowledging that I was given inaccurate information.

This experience was enough for me to decide I’m done with Crunch entirely. If you’re thinking of joining, think twice — the lack of transparency and accountability here just isn’t worth it.

Edit: Finally found the right form to cancel but even with my billing cycle being the 26th (cancelled the 6th) I still get hit with another month. Sure it's "legal" but damn is it scummy. Highly recommend finding another facility.

Got my membership while in town doing work for a few months. Pulled off the job and forgot to cancel. Now I'm in another state and can't get a hold of anyone or anyone to return my calls to cancel. Owners of the gym disabled/state of Texas* the cancel online membership as well.

Forgot about it and I understand but had my light bill money in my checking account and boom Im without money for my light bill and I emailed Elizabeth Binder and explained that I have a special needs child and have to have the power on can you refund me what yall took. I go once or twice a week, and lately a lot of the equipment has been out of order or broken. Its a bit unprofessional. I canceled my membership today because I noticed they had been overcharging me for the past month, as well as drafting double out of my account today. When I called to ask about the charge, they said my membership contract ended so automatically it charged me $10 extra since I was in the "base flux" plan. When i said this was ridiculous, and I did not agree to be moved to that plan they just shrugged it off and said it happens. Offered no reimbursement even though they overcharged me with no mention of this in their membership agreement or terms and conditions page. If you can, save yourself the annual fee charges and the frequent overcharging that fluctuates all year round- just go to a new gym with working equipment. Use your money wisely like I wish I had done. Crunch, do better.

I used to really like this place. New tall lady upfront that I’ve never seen before. Wanted to patronize me for asking for a tanning bed and talk to me like I was a child. Is it so hard to just find a gym where I could go in and work out and get the things I pay for without being patronized? The worst experience ever! Came to cancel in August! They downgraded me instead, game me a ton of papers to sign, and charged me 20$. Then got a call saying that I awe them 34.5$. Turns out they did not cancel! I called them to cancel they were so rude and added another 20$ on top of it 30 day whatever to cancel it over the phone ! What a horrible company. Never again!

Saturday morning group workout instructor turns the radio and his microphone up so high no one else can enjoy their workout. Even with really good earbuds it doesn't come close to drowning out the loudness. You can literally be on the treadmill watching people stop their workout and walk out. The gym this morning was pretty full for a Saturday morning and 20 minutes into the loudness it was less than half full. They are all within normal talking distance from each other.

As seen in other reviews their cancelation policy is pretty unreasonable. I called last month to cancel and was told it would be taken care of as far as cancelation goes.
Then after being charged an annual fee and charged for all of July they told me I needed to cal an 1-800 number to cancel my gym membership.
I’m sure who ever told me just made a honest mistake but their unwillingness to work with me was kinda baffling especially since I moved and have no access to crunch and haven’t been there since may. Pretty unsatisfactory.

Dirtiest gym in midland. The are violating the the negative option rule. The FTC can impose substantial civil penalties (up to $51,744 per violation) for violations of the Negative Option Rule.. They do no offer online cancellation but you can sign up online which violates this rule.

I've had such a positive experience at Crunch Fitness, and I wanted to share how incredible the team has been—especially Tiki Granados, GM Liz, and the childcare staff.

Tiki Granados (Personal Trainer):
Working with Tiki has been an absolute game-changer for me. He’s always upbeat, positive, and genuinely cares about how you're doing—not just in the gym but overall. He knows how to adapt workouts to your ability and makes sure you're being challenged without feeling overwhelmed. Thanks to his guidance, I’ve lost two clothing sizes and three inches around my waist! He celebrates every victory with me, and it feels like I have a true partner in my fitness journey. He’s even happy to let my husband join in on sessions, which has been a huge bonus.

Liz (General Manager):
Liz is amazing! From the moment I first reached out, unsure about joining, she was warm, encouraging, and made me feel welcome. She even took the time to connect me with Tiki directly and passed along my contact info so he could help ease me into getting started. Every time I see her at the gym, she greets me with a smile and makes me feel like I truly belong there.

Childcare:
The childcare team is a lifesaver. The manager is kind, patient, and never rushes me. She always makes sure I’m comfortable, whether it’s letting me take my daughter to the potty or giving me a quick call if a diaper needs changing. At first, my little one didn’t like being left, but now she absolutely loves going—she looks forward to seeing the other kids and the super sweet staff every time.

Coming from a previous gym where staff was rude and unprofessional to come to the same situation and pay more. That doesn't make sense. The front desk check in changes day to day for the guest depending on who is working. Not sure why front desk staff has such a nasty attitude. If you can't be pleasant don't work with the public. And signing in was never changed a month ago. These minimum wage workers always think they have so much power. Sad. Another membership being canceled.

ITS NOT WORTH IT!
Cancellation process is stupid. I joined and was never able to use my membership due to being sent offshore. Because of that, I tried to cancel my membership by calling customer service and told me I would need to pay the previous month,month ahead and annual fee. HELL NO! Almost $200 for not even stepping a toe inside?? I tried to do the website service just to get managements attention as they don’t do cancellations online. But, every time I tried to submit it would bring an error. I would gladly pay my previous months bill to cancel. Even though I didn’t get to use it. But those extra fees? Come on now. Also for a month to month??? I decided to close the bank it was tied with anyway so I’m not worried about getting charged but come on. Just cancel it.

Terrible Cancellation Experience – Inconsistent Policies and Poor Management

I’ve been trying to cancel my Crunch Fitness membership for over 4 months, and the process has been an absolute nightmare. I was initially told to cancel through the Crunch website, which I did, only to later find out that the cancellation process varies by location—even though it's the same Crunch Fitness corporation. How does that even make sense?

I've been tossed back and forth between the Midland and Lubbock locations, with neither taking responsibility. I've also received promises of callbacks from higher management, but those were just empty words—no one ever follows through. Meanwhile, Crunch Fitness has no problem calling me promptly when it’s time to collect payment.

My last call with the Midland location was especially frustrating. The General Manager actually asked why I kept calling Midland, telling me I needed to contact Baley, the General Manager in Lubbock, since that’s my “home” location. But again, isn’t this all Crunch Fitness? Whether independently owned or not, the company should have clear, consistent policies and properly trained staff to handle issues like this.

Long story short: Crunch Fitness makes it easy to join, but nearly impossible to leave. Their lack of communication, poor accountability, and inconsistent procedures are unacceptable.

On the second incident,
I recently received a call from a Crunch Fitness trainer to set up an appointment, but the experience was very unprofessional. As soon as I answered, the trainer told me they had another call to take and abruptly ended the conversation. It felt rushed and disorganized — especially since they were the one who initiated the call. First impressions matter, and this left me questioning the level of professionalism and respect for clients' time. I hope the staff is better trained in how to manage client communications moving forward.

I actually really like the gym and their equipment. I’m a former personal trainer and bikini competitor, so I know what I need to do and what I need to inquire about for my goals. The trainers that text you to book a session are relentless, Ernesto in particular. Explaining my above mentioned experience and asking him to delete my number was taken as rude. I went in and thought it had been canceled only to start getting charged again. Overall disappointment I wanted to like it desperately but I just don’t it’s over crowded, small not enough equipment especially the popular ones people try to use more than one equipment at a time taking up something they are not using. I can’t do it I really wanted to but it’s to much and the music omg it’s sooooo loud even with my noice canceling headphones on I sounds at a normal volume take them out and wow it’s to much. I went and talked to them on the 1st or 2nd of January. I am positive she told me I had personal training included. I saw one I paid for, but got very little out of it. The second time was a freebie but she put me too close on a machine. She said we are the same height, but my legs are long, my body is short. I had been trying to cancel for like a month, but couldn't find it on the app. I am on the go, all the time. I called then, they had me call an 800 number, but made me pay the end of month fee and another month plus about $30. It was right at $90. I only went in 3-4 times in January. It was too much effort, just to get in, do the workout, and get a shower afterwards.

The cancelation process is a nightmare. My wife got pregnant and we did an online request to cancel, got charged again. So we called and got a number that lead to India, where they told me I have to pay AGAIN to get my membership canceled, because the online form is essentially meaningless. They are insanely unprofessional, offloading you to a call center in India, and couldn’t care less about you, only your money. Find a gym that values more than your wallet 😒🙄

I called the gym location in Midland months ago to cancel my membership since I moved out of state temporarily and I was told I needed to go up there personally. I came back, went up there to the Midland location personally paid 49$ worth of fees and asked to cancel and they gave me a number to call. I think it would’ve been a lot easier if they would’ve just given me that cancellation number over the phone months ago when I asked to cancel. Anyway, I call the number and the Hindu guy (or that’s what he sounded like) that answers the phone is extremely rude. He tells me I have to pay another $17 for another month to cancel. I explain to him that I already paid $49 worth of fees when I went up there. He said it wasn’t showing on his end. He hangs up on me. I try to call back other days and it went straight to voicemail/busy line. I called from my son’s phone and he answers. I give in to pay another month (the $17) he sent me a receipt and said that’s my proof of cancellation. It’s is a complete hassle to cancel this gym subscription. I hope that receipt is actually proof of cancellation like he mentioned. Other than the gym always being completely packed, and having limited equipment on the most used machines I do not recommend.

If there was a dress code/standard or at least a bare minimum requirement for our children in the clothing they *Choose to wear, the gym would be something more. It is sad that men and women have fallen so low that they come to this place in order to display their bodies and skin, causing each other greater temptation, than we already face. This "gym" promotes and glorifies young and old to come in practically naked to "exercise". It is clear who the leadership is of this place. It is not only the one who is tempted*and enjoys and *agrees with the temptation, who will be at fault. But it is also the person who *chooses to dress in such a manner, to cause others to stumble, who will also bear the greater judgement.

I'm not sure about other times since I only come here in the early AM, but it is extraordinarily hot in this gym every time I come here. Needlessly and excessively hot with little to no air movement. My wife almost passes out every times she tries to work out here with me and she's a beast anywhere else. Seriously need to drop the temp at least from 0500 to 0800 by like 15 degrees. It's not even a reasonable temp in here.

Update,
It's finally a nice temperature outside and instead of taking advantage of that to lower the energy costs in the gym, they crank the heat and turn off all the fans so it's hot, stagnant, and humid inside.

I had the pleasure of working with Dylan at Crunch Fitness over a 24-session program, and I can’t say enough about the impact he had on my fitness journey. 10/23/24 I would change it to 5 stars since This review needed to happen. The new manager is more concerned with being popular in the gym than the upkeep of the gym. It’s more hairballs on the floor than in the movie Cats. It’s pieces of equipment that’s been broke since May and I have taken pictures every months since. Bros in there skipping legs days, what kind of world we living in when bros skipping leg day. They can’t be skipping leg days. Legs ext machine talking about everybody need a rest day I mean since May come on man. The ppl that work there keep giving that played out lie yea we hired somebody they will be here next week.

It’s only one person who cleans and he can’t do it by himself. He is also the only person who try’s to fix things I’ll get a picture of him and post it later he should be managing the gym and not the fake manager they got running it now. Whoever owns this place should do an undercover boss and go in and check out your business because these clowns you have employed are running it into the grounds man it’s nasty in there. Maybe you should hire a cleaning service to clean that place it shouldn’t be tumblehairs blowing about the building like we in the Wild Wild West.

The lady took my payment for my remaining balance at the front desk as I explained I was moving and I no longer needed my account, she then told me it was good to go and my account will not renew. Little did I know she was WRONG and it did renew, and I have late charges stemming from this place. When I called back whoever was at the front desk could not help me whatsoever and said it was never cancelled. So now I have built up late fees due to this facility and corporation. Really happy with the staff and overall support and the vast array of equipment. My doctor recommended to start going to the gym. I have been putting off for years so I finally committed. Been training with Dylan for the past month. Loving it. Can't wait to see the progress over time. He's pointing me and pushing me in the right direction. 80% of the time when my friend and I come a lot of the machines are closed due to maintenance. Also, the AC goes out a lot and it’s like a sauna throughout the whole gym. It’s also not very clean. The Crunch in San Angelo is immaculate, and the Midland Crunch could take some notes from them. Just a little frustrating knowing we all pay our membership fee each month, and it can’t be kept in a better condition.

It gets REALLY OLD, the amount this gym allows vendors of some sort to post up outside and inside the establishment. It puts a bad taste in my mouth when I’m just trying to live my life, go to the gym, and every week I’m bombarded by a vendor entering and exiting this place asking for my money. Can I not just go workout without being asked for a handout? It’s so unprofessional. Some of the dudes will even yell after you if you ignore them. I’m sorry, but I do NOT owe you a second of my time just because you’re trying to talk to me. Call me rude all you want. I think it’s rude to stop someone going about their day to ask for money.

Josh at the front desk was awesome! He answered all our questions and gave us a lot of info about the gym. I had an Intro session with Laci and can’t rave enough about her! Brittany has also been extra supportive! Thank you Brittany! My only complaint is there is quite a bit of equipment not working. Please pull them off the floor and fix them. these free passes are effecting members a lot, you folks need to limit free passes per month, otherwise we all will deactivate our membership and start the free pass game.

The friendly staff is about the only redeeming factor.
A large portion of the equipment is always out of order. And unlike other gyms, they don't seem to have a problem with people slamming the weights down on machines, and free weights.
Worse yet, the air conditioning either doesn't work, or they are saving money by NEVER turning it on!

Greta gym in size and cleanliness overall. The sauna is nice after a good workout. I rotate between Midland and Odessa facility and this one is my preferred one. Like most gyms it does get busy around 4-5 but there are still enough machines and room to set up and get in a good workout. I’ve been to three different Crunch gyms and they all are great in size and space to workout.

I worked in Midland but live in Dallas. I drove to the Dallas location to close out my monthly subscription to find out I couldn't, and I have to drive to the midland location in person or send a written letter. I had to call my bank to block any further charges and file a complaint to the BBB. Make sure you get the crunch cancelation paperwork online and have them sign it. Then, a receipt when you close the account.

Like other Crunch facilities, the temperature is kept exceedingly and excessively high. About 15 to 20 more degrees than the gyms I've preferred in the past and with very little air movement. Producing a stale, stagnant, oppressively humid and hot environment.
But the value is still good if you go with the base plan option to get access to the equipment....Assuming it isn't broken.

I am very disappointed. Ladies Locker rooms haven’t been cleaned since Monday today is February 2 2024. Hair everywhere in the shower stalls since Tuesday. Very disgusting, Machines are filthy, Treadmills

Do not trust with your bank information!! No one answers their phone, I’ve been down to the site MANY times to get this fixed and the manager is always “mysteriously gone”. They’ve already admitted their mistake once and to the best of my knowledge issue would be fixed and my account closed. No! They have continued to charge my account EVERY MONTH! While the equipment selection is amazing, it’s full of juice heads that can’t put weights away or count by 5’s and put dumbbells in the correct place. It’s so busy after work hours, you have to wait in line for 20 mins to use anything. This gym sucks.

All the equipment is good, everything is clean from the front door to the bathroom, nice atmosphere , the staff is very friendly and helpful. The only thing is most of the women come here just for show and attention. Half dressed, no underwear, bending over for the whole gym to see. I got tired of it so I just cancelled. Not only this gym but all gym should have dress codes for men and especially women.. A few of my buddies did the same.

If you might ever want to cancel your membership, I’d join a different gym. This gym will do anything and everything to not let you cancel. I specifically bought the package that costs more but let’s you “cancel any time”, and didn’t sign any contract. And yet they are still billing me after I called and cancelled.

I love this gym! They have amazing customer service, as soon as I walked in I was helped almost immediately! They give a lot of information about their memberships and the benefits of signing up to become a member. Their rates are super good, which I have had a hard time finding gyms with affordable rates! The bathrooms are very clean and the hand soap smells great! My only complaint is that the water bottles now cost $2.15 when they used to be $1.
