I've been going to District H semi-private classes for about a year now. As a "woman of a certain age", I was somewhat dubious whether I would be able to keep up or just slow everyone else down, but both Christy and Chris have managed to get me up to speed and (more or less) keep me there. I am definitely stronger than I was a year ago, and both trainers are kind, patient, and accommodating of my often-cranky joints. They are also very good at chatting with me to distract me during some of the more obnoxious exercises, like squats (bleah!). I just finished a new one-month Nutritional Challenge that was offered, and have high hopes for sustainable weight loss as I embark on the next phase of the program (all the fingers and toes crossed!)

Semi private with classes are amazing for achieving strength and fitness! No matter your age it is set up for you! Your goals are met along your overall body and mental strength . Nutrition is a huge part that is focused on for you which allows you to come in and do the hard work. My sleep is so much better and stress levels same! I learn so many new skills and see something new in myself which is incredible. Recover from surgeries has put me back to an active life at 70yrs old.

The gym itself seems fine but they don't publicly show pricing on their website. They force you to type in a name and email to send the pricing info to. I wouldn't be surprised if this automatically signs you up for an email campaign from them. I'm not keen on businesses that use shady marketing practices like this.

I started working out at District H six months ago. As someone who has never worked out before I started with 1:1 strength training and have slowly added in group classes in addition to that.
Offerings
District H is a great place for anyone looking to improve on their long term fitness goals. District H focuses on functional fitness and long term health. With a great mix of strength training and cardio focused classes you get a combo of everything you need to support your fitness jouney. Additionally they offer 1:1 training, small group training, and large group training to match any skill level.
Coaches
The coaches are great and it's clear from ownership to the individual coaches that they truely care about the people they are working with and ensuring the are helping to make a difference in peoples lives.
People & Community
Everyone at the gym is so welcoming and supportive of one another. I also love that in every class it's almost a 50/50 split of women vs. men. On Saturdays most people like to walk across the street after class for a coffee and hang out.
Overall amazing place, amazing community of people, and I would highly recommend it for anyone that is looking for a place that will suppor them in their fitness and health journey.

Finding Dustin Ma and District H was genuinely a life changing experience for me. Prior to joining I hadn’t exercised consistently in years, and my physical and mental health were paying the price. I was nervous to start because I was so out of shape, but Dustin and the rest of the coaches and members of the gym were so kind and welcoming, that it didn’t take long for the gym to feel like home. I’ve been training at District H consistently for the past 6 months and never once have I wanted to miss a workout. The energy in the gym is fantastic, I always feel welcome, and I’m in close to the best shape of my life now. The programming is smart and Dustin is always very careful to make sure that I’m keeping good form and completing the workouts safely. I highly recommend this gym to anyone! I have been doing private training sessions with Dustin Ma at District H. He took the time to assess my strengths and weaknesses and tailored a workout program to specifically address my personal goals. I can’t recommend Dustin enough for remote personal training! After struggling with constant pain from a tight and inflamed QL muscle for over a year, I started working with Dustin in June, and the progress has been incredible. Before working with him, I had accepted that lifting would always cause some pain, and my workouts would constantly be disrupted. At the start of November i made the decision to try and get back into shape. I am 57yo male who at 6'5 / 248 pounds was totally out of shape and rating myself a 1 on a fitness scale of 1 to 10 was generous. I opted for the 90 day program of nutritional coaching and a one on one personal trainer as after 90 days i would have an out if I did not the feel the value. Here are the results.
Nutritional Coaching
1. When I started I was easily drinking 2 liters of soda a day and with Tommy's incremental approach after 90 days I can't even stand the taste of diet coke anymore
2. Likewise with fast food. I have reduced fast food from several times a week down to maybe once every 3 weeks. Giving I have an obsession with "Fried Chicken" this was a huge step forward for me.
3. What impressed me the most perhaps was the willingness to help me identify the food's I enjoy and will eat compared to a lot of programs that force you into a box to the point you get tired of the food and just say "no way" and go back to things you enjoy.
Personal Trainer
1. I can't tell you how much I loath taking an hour out of my day to go to a gym when my mind keeps telling me that I could be doing something more productive. I expressed this to Chris, my trainer, and was upfront that the way to keep me going was to keep my mind off the actual workout and thinking about other things. He took note of this and kept me from thinking how much i hate the gym. I mean how many other trainers are going to engage you in several conservations about "The Lord of the Rings' or "Harry Potter" just to keep your mind off a workout.
2. My goal for having a personal trainer was not to develop muscle mass but to focus on my core and flexibility. Chris once again listened and instead of endless rounds of weights and 20 minutes stuck on a bicycle he designed a program that took into account how bad shape i was in and what my limits were. At then end my core was in better shape and my ability to move around was noticeable improved.
3. The best thing though was Chris read my moods well and he paced each session to what I was willing to do and felt like doing. Had he been a typical trainer and barked 5 more 10 more etc. I would most likely have stopped going after the first several weeks.
End Results.
I started at 248 pounds and am ending the 90 day program at 236 pound in spite of the all the holidays. This has been a sustainable weight loss and I expect to continue to lose weight with what I have learned. My ability to move around, bend, reach have vastly improved.
If you are looking to make an investment in your health and overall fitness District H, Tommy and Chris, are worth contacting and exploring as an option. The programs and sessions are designed with you in mind and not some cookie cutter / text book approach.
Should you do make the decision to give District H a try my best advice is to communicate with them what your triggers are, what will motivate / demotivate you etc. They will listen and design a program with you in mind.

Coach Tommy is amazing! I signed up for Nutrition Coaching and it was the best decision ever. For the first time I was able to overcome issue with body image, learn how to eat and was able to attained my goals. What I loved is that it was very individualized and personal. This is a no BS gym. From the start of class to workout completion, there is no wasted time. I’ve been to some boxes where you stretch for the first 15 minutes and then mozy into the workout that lasts for 15 minutes and then you’re done - nope not here.
Great people and great culture, not to mention, you’ll leave every class way more fit than had you tried a workout on your own. Highly recommend coming by and giving it a try. You know you have been thinking about it!!

If you’re thinking about trying out District H, just do it. There’s no reason to be scared or intimidated, it’s just not like that. I’ve been working out at District H for about ten months, and I’ve never been stronger or fitter even back in my bike racing days. My middle aged dad bod is looking a lot more lean these days, and my ability to move without stiffness or aches has improved significantly. Every single coach at DHCF is supportive, attentive to detail, and always vigilant against injuries, and the owners work hard to create a sense of community that you don’t find too often these days. All in all, I’m so happy that I decided to sign up at District H instead of buying the sports car that I was going to buy to make myself feel better about getting old, lol.

I've been a member of District H since it opened in late 2012. This is not your run of the mill gym or business. The programming is stellar, both classic crossfit as well as "reboot" (e.g. more boot camp style) classes, and coaches cater to every age (I'm in my 50s) and ability level. Not only are you supported by the coaches, every member openly encourages every other. The management has always prioritized a strong sense of community and support. You may walk in a stranger looking for a new fitness routine, or as a drop-in from out of town, but you'll be warmly welcomed by coaches and members alike. We moved to Houston earlier the same year DHSF opened, and this group of people (from a wide and interesting range of professional backgrounds) has become our core group of friends. If you're looking for an amazing workout with thoughtful, individualized and professional coaching, and a place to which you actually look forward to working out, this is it. I have never loved working out the way I do now, nor have I ever been in as good shape. Come check it out, you will not regret it!

This gym is AMAZING! I reached out before dropping in and someone called me to ask me some questions and seemed genuinely excited that I was dropping in! He warned me that one of the classes fills up quickly on Saturdays so I should sign up that day. The partner workout was so much fun and everyone made me feel welcome. A lot of the members came over to ask me where I was dropping in from. I loved the community and had a blast...just what I needed on a Saturday morning. I will most definitely be going to this gym again if I'm ever in Houston again.

I've dropped in 2x now, this is my go-to CrossFit when visiting Houston. Very traditional setup and class structure. Friendly people, good workouts, coffee shop across the street.
