Unfortunately, no one showers before entering the steam room and about half wear their dirty gym shorts and sometimes shoes. They are all confused about what a steam room is for. The management doesn’t care because it is a widespread epidemic of selfishness and inconsiderateness that also comes with patrons walking around having loud phone calls on their headphones. It’s all a sad symptom of our siloed, empty, lonely, solipsistic culture.

Mixed feelings about this club.
The temperature is too cold, the Pilates classes are always booked as soon as you can book them (24 hours in advance). Not worth the expense. I won’t be renewing the membership. Personal trainer and private Pilates classes cost 140 per session (50 mins) on top of the membership.

I joined this gym a week ago. Initially, I was apprehensive because of the google reviews but decided to give it a try after a friend referred me. This gym and community have been great and live up to the Equinox standards. Not sure where the negativity is coming from. The staff are wonderful and committed to making the experience top notch!

I really want to like this facility due to its location and recent membership purchased , but it does need a lot of upgrades to be at par with other luxury gyms. Locker rooms are small and crowded. We also need more machines. I really don’t see any luxury that they advertise. Not worth the money. Only good thing so far is the wet towel they provide

Staff is nice. Improvements have been made. But compared to the rest of the equinox family, would like to see equinox corporate invest in the Dallas market like they do NY, LA, Boston, etc. Let's upgrade the interiors & truly make it luxurious.

Recommend expanding to the newly open restaurant space to have a second lifting floor, expanding the locker rooms & rehauling the steam rooms completely. Let's also look at how we can make this a place where professionals can work by moving the seating & tables to a window facing area where we feel comfortable talking versus in the center of the entrance.

Spa services are great but the tile throughout the gym feels like I'm in 2002. Maybe consider how the locker rooms connect the gym to the spa, so that you could go from steam to facial or massage. Look at the standard miami for inspo. Isn't this one of the most profitable locations? Let's see some investment to match.

The perfect day! My husband took the kids and I went to Equinox HP for a workout class + massage. Westen and Alicia spent a long time (on a busy day) figuring out an issue I had with a really old gift card. They were patient and so kind, and ultimately figured it out (so thankful!)! Ramey taught a (packed) HIIT class that was killer but also somehow fun. Megan and Bridget were extremely accommodating in the spa area — making me coffee and bringing me a blanket (really over the top kind). And my massage with Liz was exceptional. Great team + great place to spend a day!

Booked an appointment at the spa and had to wait 43 minutes before I ended up asking them to take me off the schedule. Never experienced something like this before at any spa. I told the employees several times that I’d like someone in management to call me, but they never did. I will not be using their spa services again. In addition, the staff in the locker rooms are extremely rude. Making me wonder if it’s worth the outrageous $200/mo to be a member when Lifetime has more amenities and a nicer staff.

I was at Equinox recently and saw the assistant manager, Ralena Philips, being rude to another client. It felt really unprofessional and honestly made me uncomfortable. I come to the gym expecting a positive and welcoming vibe, but this interaction left me thinking this isn’t that place for that. I think she needs to work on being more respectful to everyone. Hopefully, this gets addressed because it’s not a good look for the gym.

Thank you, Justin Timberlake, General Manager at Equinox Highland Park, for your exceptional professionalism and assistance in temporarily canceling my membership. Your helpfulness made the process seamless.

Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for the General Manager at Equinox Plano, Ivanna Berrios, whose uncouthness and unprofessionalism created unnecessary complications regarding my membership status. I had to escalate the issue to corporate and switch my home gym to Highland Park to get it resolved.

If you’re considering a membership, I highly recommend Equinox Highland Park over Plano for its superior management. I look forward to renewing my membership in the future, thanks to your excellent service, Justin!

How can this have such a low rating!? This is the best Equinox in the whole chain. I’ve had the all access membership for years and travel all the time. This actually used to my home gym about six years ago when I lived in Dallas for a year- and I’m back here this week and it’s the same staff from six years ago; the staff retention is amazing! The club is clean, beautiful, big and has friendly and courteous members. Love this place!

❗️SCAM❗️STAY AWAY‼️ EQUINOX told me at the front desk they would freeze my membership for 2 months and then just charge me $100 at the end of the freeze period, which was completely fine, but then they try to charge my card $317 for the month I just froze‼️ Luckily I put a prepaid card on there so they can’t charge me, and I knew that was a smart idea because it’s just in Equinox’s nature to screw people over with the memberships‼️

If you look at ANY bad review for ANY Equinox location, 95% of the time it’s because of some idiot employee lying to them about membership details‼️

I surely hope Equinox can get rid of their bad reputation as being “scammy” with their membership agreements and just be more transparent with people because it’s a decent gym with high quality equipment💪

The only way I will delete this review is if you guys waive those fees for the months I froze and just charge me what I am supposed to pay which is the $50 per month. Thank you

While I loved utilizing this facility, I am very disappointed in their follow up and follow through with my cancellation request due to a relocation for work. I have reached out multiple times to cancel my membership and they are saying no cancellation request has been made. I have records of text conversations where staff would reach out to me and I would say my membership should’ve been canceled. I am very disappointed in the service and follow through with my cancellation request. Really unfortunate that the experience turned into this. The situation further developed with the assistant general manager telling me that she couldn’t accept the documentation that I provided, and she is sorry this the case. I provided a picture of a conversation I had with her staff member where they said that they would look into it and follow up. They did nothing. And this is only the most recent of the attempts to cancel my membership. I will be handling the claim with Amex directly.

Very dated and worn down gym with very unimpressive amenities. Nothing about this location is "luxury" or worth the Equinox prices. It's badly in need of a complete renovation and refresh. The training prices and trainer quality is very overpriced and subpar for what you get. There is lots of boutique fitness studios in town that are far superior and a fraction of the price for personal training with far more experienced professional trainers.

Parking is ok but for the price the roof top parking should be covered so cars dont get so hot in summer. Overall would not recommend a membership here until it's rebuilt into an actual luxury gym. Good location though but way better options with boutique studios compared to equinox.

Not going to nit pick about little things ( like a bug in a pool ~it’s Texas those things happen) but gym is kinda basic imho for the price. I think it comes down to location. Just like some lifetime are small and some huge. I have yet to try the equinox Plano with the rooftop because it’s far but I think that one is probably better. If they were able to have an outdoor pool here that would be amazing. Gym feels small. Locker rooms and showers are nice. They have spa massages here but the new lifetime location has free massage chairs on the floor. I think lifetime is winning guys in terms of what they offer vs price. Someone in one of these reviews said something about the finance bros standing around on their phones making deals and I died LOL I seen it too. I always park in the garage or the upper outdoor level to the garage and never had any issues, there has always been parking available. So far my locker has been safe I saw those reviews of people stealing,I think they got rid of whoever was doing that. so far so good. No real complaints. Just another ‘upscale’ gym, it is what you make it. It’s definitely the best gym if you live in downtown/ uptown

Honest review from an ex member of 4 years
Positive: Responsive & attentive staff
Negatives:
1) Over crowded- members have tripled since the Preston hollow location closed (that was my last straw)
2) equipment breaking due to increased wear & tear
3) several car break ins in the last few years

It’s hard justifying the price for a facility that is now similar to a lifetime fitness or less expensive gym

Absolutely disgraceful customer service.

I have had many gym memberships - LA Fitness, Lifetime, and several smaller private ones. By far Equinox has been the worst experience in spite of the high price. The facilities are pretty good but if you sign up pray you never have any sort of dispute. Club management is incompetent and lacking in accountability.

I had to spend months dealing with closing membership and resolving account issues. Concierge and local branch team are dishonest and give you the run around. Save yourself a lot of stress and just use Lifetime instead.

★ 3

A very mediocre and underwhelming experience for what is supposed to be a top tier luxury gym and spa.

Equinox Highland Park (EQX HP) is a very tough value proposition, even if you have plenty of money to throw at a $230+ membership. If you've been to the other locations across the Metroplex (ex. Plano), it's abundantly clear that this location is in dire need of expansion and/or renovation to keep from falling further behind.

The Highland Park location suffers in many ways from the fact that it is unacceptably small and constantly busy. The weight floor layout is primarily open, but piecemeal across the gym leaving a lot to be desired as far as a luxury workout experience goes. A generous amount of classes are offered led by enthusiastic and fun trainers. EQX HP shines in this department if your schedule allows.

The locker rooms suffer from overcrowdedness and lack of cleanliness. It's very typical for dirty towels to be strewn about on the floor and near/in the showers. The showers themselves are fine, but the water pressure is quite sad and it takes a long time to feel like you've adequately rinsed off. The Plano location is a 180 difference and blows this location out of the water (no pun intended). The Kiehls products are a nice touch, but the hair conditioner smells absolutely disgusting. There is also no dry sauna (only wet) in the locker rooms, leaving another amenity to be desired, yet excluded likely because the facility is too small to accommodate one. Certainly there was no price adjustment levied for this shortcoming.

As an annual contract membership, this location fails to impress in most regards, and falls short of providing a sense of true luxury or value for the exorbitant price tag that comes with it. Other Equinox facilities perform at a substantially higher standard and outshine this location, but unfortunately, they're too far to reasonably travel to across the metroplex.

If you live in the area and have to be able to tell people you have an Equinox membership, or you can't live without a $15 smoothie, I guess this location makes sense. Otherwise, Lifetime would be worth checking out, along with other boutique gyms within the area that offer a similar experience in terms of equipment, classes, amenities, and hours, but for a lower price.

This Equinox was impeccably clean and had excellent amenities. During my visit, I participated in a boxing session led by Juan Castillo, who ranks as the best trainer I've ever had. His depth of knowledge and expertise were immediately clear, making the experience both rewarding and enlightening. From technique refinement to personalized guidance, Juan's instruction elevated my workout to a whole new level. I highly recommend him to anyone seeking top-tier training.

This gym is a joke. Made an appointment to tour and then was immediately pressured into buying a membership on the spot. The “sales rep” was extremely awkward and had no sales skills whatsoever. When I asked to use the facility before purchasing a membership I got a stone cold look. Why would I drop $300 when I’ve never been there? Not to mention there weight room is extremely crowded. No dry sauna or hot tub either which is unusual for a luxury gym. Not worth the price in my opinion.

Poor management at this location. I’ve been a member for about 6 months, and I arrived Saturday morning to work out, and was told I couldn’t use the club because they were hosting a private event. No notification from the club about the event, so I’ve lost 30 minutes driving each way. Emailed the club manager Logan Timberlake to ask how they’d make this right and have yet to get a response. Will update my review if he ever responds. Note: Equinox has no other locations in Dallas, so the staff here said I’d have to drive to Plano if I want to workout today. Net/net - would recommend people avoid this gym if they have other options (FWIW i plan to rejoin Lifetime Fitness as I’ve had much better service there and great facilities).

Equinox Highland Park, while draped in the familiar hues of the Equinox brand, falls dismally short of the standards set by its counterparts. The attempt to conceal its deficiencies with a recognizable facade is but a feeble disguise for a gym that seems frozen in time.

The layout exhibits poor planning, marked by dead spaces and outdated equipment that bear witness to neglect. The antiquated furniture and aging bathrooms further contribute to an atmosphere that fails to resonate with the modern and sophisticated image synonymous with Equinox.

In contrast to the meticulous design showcased by Equinox Plano and the upscale allure exuded by Equinox River Oaks, Highland Park stands as a glaring exception. It is not an appeal for replication of the glamour of New York or California but a plea for a fundamental upgrade in aesthetics and functionality.

This establishment appears to exploit its prime location, assuming members will overlook its shortcomings. Yet, a closer examination reveals a stark contrast to other esteemed Equinox clubs. The time has come for Highland Park to shed its dated image and undergo a revitalization that befits the brand's commitment to excellence. In doing so, the club would not only honor its members but also align itself with the refined standards set by Equinox establishments elsewhere.

Made an appointment to discuss membership, and the staff who was supposed to talk to me about the membership decided to talk to another walk-in person who arrived later than I did. Waited 40 min, finally did tour, and it became evident that they do not want new members. Gym is packed, old and barely qualifies as premium gym. What really pissed me off was their dynamic pricing and offer. They wanted me to sign up for their special weekend $0 initiation deal which they claimed that it ‘disappear’ in few days, and yet I received another offer weeks later for $0 initiation fee and $100 gift card. Such a low grade commercial tactic for so called premium gym. I got a membership at lifetime, transparent monthly membership fee posted online without contract. I have been a member for 8 years and this was one of my original gyms I frequented. In those years, I don't think they've enhanced the gym at all, banking on the popularity of location and spaciousness of the footprint (the only positive to this location). Given the continued rate increases and brand promise of luxury, management and / or corporate needs to significantly invest to address the myriad problems. They include: consistently out of order equipment, equipment 20+ years old, A/C out of order, filth literally everywhere (three examples: 1) pre-COVID, there used to be someone vacuuming almost constantly but I've not seen a soul vacuuming since post-COVID, 2) there is an inch-thick layer of dust next to the "water fountain" in the stretching area, 3) the men's locker room counters aren't cleaned - there's a spot of goo-ed up lotion in one area that wasn't cleaned for over a week), and wooden floors with full sections chipped out to the point they had a mini orange cone on one of them for *months*. I could go on, but I'll stop there. This location needs help desperately.

The other two are much better kept up. The A/C is consistently broken, the locker room isn’t kept up very well and the steam room works half the time lol. Staff is really nice though! Eqx corporate give them a remodel for the love of god 😭

Been going to this gym for over 1 year and have been to many other equinox around the country. Old building with poor upkeep. Water has been out intermittently along with air for a long while now. Major leaks from ceiling and mildew on waterfall near stretch area that is gross and smelly. No management in site and no one addressing this with its members who pay 220 dollars per month for no where near luxury quality. Poor representation of equinox quality.

This gym has been going downhill for quite a while. Is a very common topic among members who feel management only says what they think customers want to hear. The AC has been out or next to nothing in several areas of the gym for a couple days. This pic was their answer this afternoon, while Dallas' heat index is over 100. One lady was suffering heat exhaustion and had to lay down and be assisted by staff. I was told this morning the AC would be fixed by the afternoon. I was told this afternoon when I arrived the AC was being fixed in the men's locker room at that time. Both statements were not true. Meanwhile they were putting up plenty of effort to set up a pic station with balloons for guests.
The pool is so over treated you can smell the chemicals from the hallway, and the air ventilation system has not been working for about a week, so they have to keep the pool area door open to combat the humidity. Saturday I asked to speak to the manager but apparently the front desk is trained to tell customers the manager is not there. The manager was there and eventually came out. If I had a close upscale gym alternative with a lap pool close to my house I would not be a member here. When I ask other members that I know if they have complained to the front desk or management, they reply no, because the experience is that nothing will change.

The product has some positive highlights but the atmosphere is not ideal for beginners. I took a Cycling class for the first time and I felt completely lost. I mentioned to the receptionist but his attitude was really bad. I felt I was bothering him with my 2 questions. The class instructor never acknowledged any first timers. I didn’t have the right shoes - zero info about it - and instructions were unclear. Equipments seems dated. To change the speed on the treadmill I had to push buttons pretty hard. Overall it’s a slightly good looking club but the culture is not welcoming or helpful.

I agree with all of the reviews below identifying the problems with equipment, cleanliness, and overcrowding. When I inquired about this with management, they essentially said that this location is busy and the current state of the gym is just how it is going to be for now. Very frustrating but I was willing to overlook.

What ruined the equinox experience for me was the personal training sessions. Despite being advertised as full hour long sessions, I was regularly getting 40-45 minute training sessions. I thought this 15-20 minute reduction was normal, but it turns out that I was just taken advantage of and losing that training time. After working with the same trainer twice-a-week for nearly 10 months, I paid for time equivalent to 12-15 sessions that I never received. Again, very little help from management other than "have you considered changing to our Preston Hollow location?" Putting my experience out there so nobody else wastes the same amount of time/money that I did.

Overall, the inflated pricing is just not worth it unless you are one of the many finance bros coming into the gym to solicit business while pretending to workout. I'd recommend saving money and signing with the nearby LA Fitness Signature for a nearly identical experience.

Quality and upkeep of the facility has precipitously declined - especially since reopening after COVID. Customer service is lacking and responses to requests and inquiries takes weeks - if answered at all. After the latest round of price increases - in light of subpar facilities, deteriorating equipment and amenities along with apathetic staff and an absence of customer service - there are many other health clubs that will offer a better experience for the money.

The gym is great; however, the spa just opened and I made an appointment for a facial to try it out. I ended up missing my appointment because I got no reminder or notification about it. Every other luxury spa I’ve been to has either called me a day or two before or sent a text reminder. The manager and staff are completely unprofessional and not accommodating. I do not recommend. Go to Sturm, the Joule, or the Ritz.

Just so-so. I go because it’s the closest gym to me, but definitely not worth the price tag. After 2 years, why is there still no juice bar? Also both times I’ve asked about my membership they’ve said that the advisors aren’t there? Just disappointing for the city’s most expensive gym.

Gym is okay, but nothing special. Dated equipment and design. I would give the facilities a 3/5 compared to other gyms in the area, but I’d also quite a bit more expensive.

The biggest problem is the management staff. They are extremely difficult about cancellations- demanding doctors notes for freezes and doing everything in their power to keep you from freezing or canceling memberships.

I had originally done a freeze (was given incorrect pricing on cost to freeze) due to travel. Got injured and didn’t realize I was still being charged. Found multiple $220 charges when doing an annual audit. I had to call multiple times to get someone to answer me. Finally heard back from management who told me they needed a doctors note(what is this elementary school?) to get refunded for the previous months. Told them I never got one because I didn’t know I needed one. Got a doctors note and they said that they wouldn’t honor it because it was dated after the months in question even though the doctor addressed those months in the note. Ridiculous excuse for customer service. It was clear that I did not use the gym or know I was being charged and even after providing a doctor’s note they still wouldn’t honor several of the months.

After receiving the terrible customer service I decided to just cancel my membership and they told me I was locked in for a year. Had to go back and find where I got a guarantee from the rep that I could cancel at any time. Thankfully I had pushed for this to be documented because I remembered having similar treatment from management the first time I canceled before Covid. I don’t mind paying 3-10x the cost of most other gyms in the area for a product and service that justifies the price, but other than nicer products in the locker rooms, this place has neither a better product nor better service (in fact really terrible service.) stay away to avoid the same mistakes I made.

This gym has unfortunately gone from bad to worse. I’ve been a member for 10 years now and have worked out at many clubs across the country. The Dallas Highland Park location is a marginal upgrade from a YMCA. The ONLY people that are professionals are the group fitness instructors.

Here’s what you get as a member: you pay $200+ a month for a dirty locker room, broken equipment, closed the next day any time it storms (guaranteed), a steam room that never works, no juice bar (haven’t had one for over 2 years lol), half the building under construction due to flooding…and to top it all off…you can get your locker AND your car broken into all under one roof…

It’s honestly sad what has happened to this place. No use providing feedback to local/regional/or corporate management; they don’t do anything.

There is zero competition and they know they can keep collecting our money without recourse. “There is no alternative”

I joined Equinox back in October of 2020. I made them aware of my health condition and that I might start medical treatment for my condition promptly after joining. They assured me that in that case, they’d be able to work something out with me to ensure they either pause my membership or extend it. They didn’t give specifics, but they told me they would work something out with me. I was active at the gym until I began treatment. I called them and they told me to come in to speak to a manager. I came in and the manager was “no longer there”. They told me they would make a note of my situation in their systems, and would let the manager know. I never got a follow up call and continued to pay for a gym I could not use due to medical reasons. I called them again and they told me they couldn’t stop billing until the end, but that something could be worked out once I had paid the full balance after 12 months. I reached out to them in November asking what could be done and I was told they would speak to the manager and that I would get a call back. I never got a call, email, or notification back. I ended up paying about $2,340 for a gym I could only use for around a month or so… even after consulting with them and them ensuring they would work with me. I am very disappointed given that this is a “top” gym that promises great customer service. I feel robbed and lied to. If you foresee any issue coming up with your health or life, I do NOT recommend Equinox.

I walked in to an appointment fully convinced this was going to be my next gym. The lady for my appointment had left early, I decided to wait for the next rep., I waited at least 30 minutes in the lobby just to be told that there was absolutely no one to help me out, not even a tour. I was appalled as to why a gym wouldn’t have any sales reps ready to go at 6pm during the week. As someone that has done sales before, I would have jumped at someone wanting to sign up on the spot. I get the hard feeling that they didn’t want me as a member due to my race.

Recently joined and absolutely love this gym. I understand it’s not like other equinox gym’s throughout the country but it’s Dallas after all and the price reflects that difference (half the price of EQ in LA). We love coming here every day. Great vibe and layout. Plenty of machines and weights. Locker rooms are well stocked, Kielhs products in the shower (including face wash!!!), razors, eucalyptus chilled towels, eucalyptus steam room, well attended with cleaning and stocking of supplies. Classes included — absolutely love the group fitness and yoga classes. Staff are all amazing, super friendly and helpful and encouraging. Insane how many people remember your name, feels like a great community. For being new to the DFW area, we appreciate Equinox helping us feel at home!

So far excellent customer service. Constantly cleaning up areas. Very good vibes. I will continue to post here if things changes.
Price: I think it is reasonable for what they provide. I was going to another gym with almost zero amenities and was costing me 140-150 per month.
Cons: It is getting very crowded and sometimes you can’t find a locker or parking if short in time. Swimming pools with only two lanes and is shallow.
If you are looking for cheaper place May I suggest YMCA facilitates (very underrated) which has a lot of similar amenities with classes, excellent swimming pool, customer service and price is 25% of what you pay here. Different venues have different facilities.

Equinox Lite - This gym is very basic, no frills. Not a ton of machines. It is clean, and they do a good job with the upkeep. The locker room feels cramped, tiny lockers, no sauna, no hot tub, no lounge area to cool down. The steam room is tiny and there is a bottle of eucalyptus oil you can spray, smh.

Lifetime Fitness, Verandah Club, Cooper Clinic are all superior options.

3/5 stars - not horrible, but not worth the membership fees, imo.

During this tough time with no water due to the weather ( I'm fortunate power is back on) I called to ask if I can pay to use the facility to take a shower. I'd bring all my own product, I just need water. I am an Executive for a company here in Dallas. The receptionist was very nice and talked to her Manager. The response was "No, because they are a private facility". How's that for helping out the community? Now I understand the bad on line reviews stem from Management creating that culture. Thanks for nothing.
