I took my kids to several different gyms in the area, and everyone (especially the kids) were unanimous in choosing Excel Academy. The level of energy is just completely different here-the kids never stop moving and are constantly engaged. This is especially important for my 5 year old, who doesn't yet have the attention span to stand still and listen for long periods of time after a day at school. I'm impressed by the number of helpers and the ability of Master Valdez and Ms. Isela to manage everything with no downtime. Also, the pricing was simple and reasonable, with no long-term commitments or high-pressure, scammy-feeling stuff that I saw at other places. I highly recommend Excel Academy!

I am beyond happy we found Excel Academy. Day 1 I was there to just get information and see what it was about but instead Master Valdez invited my son to participate. I honestly wanted to cry because I was scared to let go. I was told to look away and let him participate again I just wanted to cry. I saw how great they were with him. Once done I asked my son if he liked it because he never liked anything and he loved it. We went back the next day for his first official class and right away my son knew to go straight to the mat and join everyone else. He was super excited to go back. I felt so much better. You have other parents there that notice you as a parent is probably scared too but they are very encouraging and comforting. Other kids were approaching us after and letting my son know that he did a great job. I felt extremely happy and I can honestly say I’m in love with Excel Academy. Thank you Master Valdez for not being soft on us and thank you to the entire staff for also being there to get us through day one.

I have know Master Valdez for years and have trained and competed with his students as well, and everyone of them exemplify honor and integrity. Master Valdez molds people into phenomenal martial artists and human beings, and gives his students and their families his all. His dojo is a family and cornerstone of the martial arts community. I don’t know where to start. I never had a clue especially with two young kids and the need to find a way to allow them to channel their energy. I took my children to a different Taekwando academy and saw very little to absolutely no progress with what they were learning. Granted, they weren’t really interested in their curriculum much either. We tried a class with Master Valdez and were immediately in awe. The professionalism, the attitude, the humility, was all so refreshing to see. He is the epitome of a professional, and is an absolute master in every aspect. I personally have also joined Excel Academy as a 37 yr old white belt. The lessons me and my children are learning are priceless and we can say we have the best Taekwando FAMILY to learn from. My children smile in class and love their lessons, they even practice them in bed.

What was once a grueling thing we did on Saturday mornings has now become something very important in our lives and we are blessed to travel this journey with Master Valdez, and all of his incredible helpers. Top tier talent, and attitude. Much love and respect.

The miracles maker

Master Valdez is the miracles maker, my son was a crying boy, who keeps screaming and running everywhere. I remember when I called master Valdez and asked him if He can help my son to be calm, more focus, and more confident. He said that I can see the difference in few weeks.for weeks I saw master Valdez working with my son, he was very patient, he also worked with me and after every crying he asked me to bring him back.
Last week my son got his golden belt. I can say is different person more confident and positive. I even got Compliments from other parents on how my son changed. Master Valdez has a big charisma, you can feel the pride in what he is doing. Also the team working in that place are very friendly and helpful, they care about every one in the class. Master Valdez his amazing. I enrolled my boys last fall. We were struggling with their behavior at school and at home. In a matter of a week we saw a drastic difference. Master Valdez has brought out the best in my boys by showing the self discipline and respect. Having another adult show them by example really made a difference. The atmosphere is fun and structured. Love the school! Excel Academy of Tae Kwon Do has been a great physical activity/training for both my sister and I - especially getting us up and working out and working on our confidence. More than just learning a martial art, they teach and emphasize great self defense skills to all ages. 2020 was horrible for all of us. I wanted to challenge my 6 yr old grandson with a Christmas gift that would channel his verbal skills and keep him physically busy. Turned out to be best Christmas gift ever. After his first class, he recruited his 17 yr old brother and 7 months later they are still loving it and working diligently to improve. The environment is so positive and students and instructors alike are very team oriented. Everyone goes out of their way to help others and provide a safe space. They make students with special needs feel important, comfortable and accepted. Master Valdez teaches so much more than karate, to include communication, leadership skills, and good sportsmanship. Master Valdez and his team provide instant positive feedback to students. Great investment for anyone to build karate skills, confidence and much more.

Seriously has changed my daughters life. Her confidence has skyrocketed and she loves going. Shes 5 and cant wait to get to class each time. The absolute best studio there is. Master Valdez brings out the best in kids. The classes are wonderful, the instruction is clear and well taught! The parents are friendly and the atmosphere is very pro-kid! We were very welcomed and love being there!

I highly recommend visiting this studio before you join elsewhere. You will quickly see the difference in studios and understand how well-worth this studio is for your children. Master Valdez is awesome and our son LOVES it.

Excel Academy is the best martial arts school in the Metroplex and is run by Master Valdez, a dedicated and talented instructor.

I have two children, 4 and 6, that both take TKD at Excel and I couldn't be happier. Since joining they have both seen dramatic improvements and have shown remarkable confidence. Master Valdez always makes their classes fun, he has a wonderful sense of humor, but he expects discipline and focus in equal measure. I have also watched Master Valdez's students embody the principles of taekwondo in the way they help and encourage their fellow classmates – a behavior instilled by the instructors at excel.

After a few months watching my children train here, I decided it would be fun to join myself. It has been a great experience. Master Valdez's adult class is the perfect blend of physical fitness, practical self-defense and sport. I've lost weight and have enjoyed sparring with all levels of fighting talents, from the beginner to the unbelievably skilled.

The facilities of the school are top notch. They are kept clean and provide additional workout equipment for use by students. Master Valdez and Ms. Isela are present for nearly every class and welcome every kind of student. I can't say enough nice things about this amazing school.

I go to Excel Academy and master Valdez is a stunning and astounding martial artist, but above all he is an above your expectations, one of a kind teacher. He has helped me so, so much, I recommend him to people who are not very good at different things just as much as people who are very excellent at different things. Master Valdez's school is absolutely amazing. We have 5 boys under the age of 9 and the older 3 (8.5, 7 & 5) started 6 weeks ago. My kids don't watch TV or play video games, they love reading and soccer, but were pretty uncoordinated and a bit on the whiny side. They did not even know how to do a jumping jack the right way. Within 6 weeks this gentleman has my boys doing 101 jumping jacks, completely focused and respectful, but most important--motivated! They passed their 1st test to gold belt and do the training video everyday. I just cannot believe how much their form and attitude has improved. Nothing works better than "We'll see what Master Valdez has to say about your behavior when we get to class"

He is very strict but at the same time very caring, demanding but loving. We are extremely grateful we found Excel Academy, Isela and Master Valdez. Recommend it 110%!

My son was in an ATA school before we moved him to Excel. The difference in the quality of the teaching between the two schools is astounding. My son has improved more in one month with Master Valdez than the entire time he was with his old school. This is a school that actually teaches and cares that the kids learn. Master Valdez only tests a kid for a belt when they are ready. You can tell that he, unlike the ATA, is more concerned with a child’s progress than collecting the belt test fee. I love this school, and more importantly my son loves it.

Master Valdez is the best teacher. He is absolutely wonderful with the little kids. He teaches them to do their best all the time, not just in class but in all areas of their life. We drive over half an hour to get to Excel and we wouldn’t consider going anywhere else.

All three of our children attend classes here-- two boys ages 7 and 9 and our daughter who is 4. Master Valdez does a great job teaching all three of them and encouraging them to do their best. His level of skill and training is exceptional and the children are really learning- not just getting passed from one belt to the next. He also teaches them respect, safety, builds their confidence and trains them to be teachers and encouragers. He does not expect perfection-- he expects each student to do their very best and that builds confidence.

One of our children has low muscle tone and struggles in the class. Master Valdez and his assistances continue to encourage him, work patiently with him and look for new ways to help him do his best-- all while demanding respect and hard work. He is thriving.

The cost is also very reasonable for larger families.

I have been going there for a short time thus far, and from the beginning Master Valdez, and his students have been welcoming and generous to a returning student of Tae Kwon Do.

Another student recommended this school to me, and I can tell you that I have not regretted one moment of being here for the few months I have been training here. Master Valdez is the consummate professional when it comes to teaching his skills, and treats everyone with respect and courtesy.

I travel 30+ miles one way to come here, and I have looked all over DFW for a school of this quality. I always walk out of Excel Academy drenched in sweat, but looking forward to more!

Trust me, if you start off with no previous regular exercise coming here, you will find yourself catching your breath, and at first I was winded and needed to fall out of class for a minute to catch my breath. After a while, with the intensity you train in class you will find your stamina improving significantly. Also be prepared to do some muscle targeting exercises as well as your standard martial arts training.
