Absolutely unbelievable multipurpose sports venue. We had a wonderful time watching our granddaughter play volleyball here and we hope her team has another tournament here.

One of the best indoor facilities, you will be impressed.
Up to 8 basketball courts, depending on how you want to set them up.
8. Volleyball courts.
Indoor soccer/football field.
Clean little bestro for a snack or drink

Lots of different equipment to use plus an indoor walking track. Cost for Terrell senior citizens is minimal. Cons are there are only two recumbent bikes, and in the past at least one of them were either broken or did not function properly. The staff still take off per school district designated breaks but the facility is open for use.

This is our least favorite venue in three years of club volleyball. It feels like a place that wants to do all things (soccer, basketball, volleyball, etc) but ends up doing all of them poorly. But that’s just the start of the issues:
Overpriced
—we had to buy single day passes at $15 each, no multi-day tickets are available for a lower cost. This is unacceptable and greedy.
—spectators are barred from bringing any food or drinks into the venue, even water, which again is very greedy and nonsensical. I would like to see the specific health code regulations they are citing around this silly rule. It really feels like a blatant move to extract more money from the wallets of visitors.
—speaking of which, the in-facility ‘bistro’ we were forced to use is very overpriced. $7 for two slices of stale bread, cheese and turkey? What a ripoff. Talk about taking advantage of a captive audience.
—For anyone spending a weekend tournament here, bring a cooler and eat and drink out of your vehicle unless you want subpar food at premium prices.
Safety and comfort
—in addition to no external water, this facility bars people from bringing in camp chairs. Fold up Stadium seats are permitted
—however, there is simply not enough seating in this venue, so you’ll likely have to stand or sit on the floor. The weekend we attended was absurdly crowded and there was barely any place to even stand. I wonder what the fire marshal would have said.
—the metal benches to watch the games are designed for children, not adults. They are far too low to the ground. They are also awkwardly positioned for a volleyball tournament, behind one side of the courts only. It’s very hard to watch our kids play, and even more uncomfortable to sit in these miniature benches.
—the facility is dominated by an indoor soccer field; the multi purpose courts for other sports are definitely an afterthought.
—on the weekend we were here, the bathrooms overflowed with raw sewage, which is a major health hazard and made the entire facility reek. Everyone had to walk across the street to use the neighboring school bathrooms.
TLDR—Overpriced, overly restrictive, too cramped, unsafe, uncomfortable, and poorly designed for a large volleyball tournament. I wish all volleyball clubs would collectively decide this place isn’t up to standards and stop playing here.

We had a volleyball tournament here and it was the worst! The bathrooms did not work so we had to go across to the middle school. The seating was horrible, and it was extremely small and crowded with tiny walkways. Not a great place.

This is the worst volleyball we experience ever. They charge 15.00 per person and force you to purchase everything from the facility no food water allowed in. Our game was at 930 am and by then the bathrooms were flooded and not available for at least 100 people. The courts have not defined the out of bound area efficiently with lines. There are so may different court lines on a wooded floor you could not tell where the inbound lines were. It looks good from the outside but that is it. Not sure I would give them a 1 star

Worst experience ever.. $15 a day per person for entry into a two day volleyball tournament.. (no senior discount) they force you to only purchase drinks and food from their cafe and made you literally walk out the door if you had a beverage… then all toilets for every restroom were flooded with sewer water and unable to be used.. staff was so rude and unapologetic and showed no empathy for anybody!

I just want to start by saying the facility itself is amazing… very clean !
Next I want to say as I got here being my first time ever ! I was walking I had an outside chair .. a gentleman said no outside chairs and I said ok I will pay first then I will put it in my car is not a big deal! this other lady comes very aggressive saying the same thing and I told her I will put it in my car…and she tells me don’t start with me I shouldn’t even let you pay if you have a chair .. and I told her again ! I was going to put it in my car but the nasty attitude that she has so early in the morning ! Is unacceptable specially when she is talking to me like if I’m a child ! Then I ask for my receipt and the lady also having a nasty attitude tells me is on your phone ! Like what is their problem ?!? If they don’t like it why work so early in the morning ?! They should be a little more understandable and know that alot of us parents are new to this place… I didn’t like her attitude at all ! They need to do better specially the 2 women.

During my daughter’s soccer practice I took my son over to an empty basketball court in the corner and was working with him on shooting. A few minutes into it the guy up front raised the goals on us. I asked why they were raised and if we could shoot. It was 8pm and we weren’t interrupting anything. The pansy wouldn’t do it. That’s ridiculous! Other than my daughter playing soccer in there, I wouldn’t give that place a penny!

If you plan to attend an event at this facility make sure you leave all you drinks and snacks (including water bottles) at home. Per their rules this is a "health code concern" and can result in a fine.
I wish I could find that health code that all the other facilities in Texas are violating. In my opinion, thay have this rule because they want you to spend money in thier bristol. With this type of rules, they will not get me to spend anymore money then I have to. Other then that, it is a great facility and the people managing the place are very friendly.

The sun that affects several courts players visibility and that this hasn't been addressed in over a year is ridiculous. Volleyball courts 6 and 7 should have huge disadvantages for teams. The lines for volleyball aren't visible across the court either, they need to tape them blue bc the white reflects to much.

Faciltiy is nice but has very limited seating for parents and spectators. we attended for Volleyball Tournament and the staff wouldn't let the athletes bring in their water bottles. Nearly all athletes from every team had to smuggle them in. Outside chairs are allowed either so there is nowhere to sit once the very limited bleachers were taken. The courts can only be viewed from one side. Overall not a great venue to visit for an out of town tournament.

There is a very nice adult gym facility with 30+ machines plus free weights and other free exercises. Usage varies but it has never been crazy busy. Two sanitizing stations and you can help yourself and others remain healthy. A machine or two could use service. One of the thread mills isn't working, the leg press has an annoying squeak and one machine is roped off and has an out of order sign. For a small community gym, it seems to be a nice facility. It is missing shower facilities, but I guess in these times, that is to be expected. There is a private keyed entrance from the parking lot and the gym has access to the 2 walking tracks in the main section of the ExCEL. That area gets very busy during after school hours and during indoor games. I have only been going a week, but to date, the Bistro has never been open. I wish I would have known about this 5 years ago.

Very nice and new facility. There are 8 mix use courts (volleyball or basketball) with an indoor soccer turf in the middle. It's a nice setup. Very good lighting throughout with a nice mixture of natural sunshine.
For volleyball, it is hard to see the portable scoreboards from the bleachers. It would be nice if they could use the flat screen TV mounted at each court on the wall. Or if they could angle the portable scoreboards so people in the bleachers could see.

Very nice facility with plenty of parking. Hosted a club volleyball tournament there. 8 courts, with the automated nets like at Fieldhouse. The facility rules are pretty strictly followed, this is both slightly frustrating to some people - and also makes for a very clean and well kept facility!
Notes from our Club Volleyball Tournament Experience:
- No outside chairs allowed. There’s plenty of seating though. You can still bring in stadium seats for the bleachers
- No outside drinks allowed. Lots of people drinking that morning coffee hurriedly after being turned away.
- No outside food allowed. Players didn’t seem to get bothered.
- No outside balls allowed. The facility provided warmup balls and game balls.
- Plenty of Parking, if you don’t get in the primary lot you can park in the lot of the School? and it’s a similar walk.
- Reasonably close to Fast Food (if you need)
- The playing surface is nice and clean
- 8 courts with plenty of room between them.
- scorers tables were nice with digital scoreboards
- every team bench had a bucket for
Other notes, specific to spectators:
- none of the bathrooms ever had a waiting line.
- the cleaning staff is on the ball - for spills, and for the above mentioned restrooms. The facility was clean clean clean!
- the entry line is managed well and goes fast.
- cost was $10 per day per adult. I didn’t pay attention if kids or seniors got a different price.
- there’s a Bistro, so they can sell you the food you couldn’t bring.
- there’s a place to eat / work next to the bistro - a bunch of cafe tables
- there is only seating on one end of the court. This is obviously sub-optimal when your team is on the far side
- there is no putting tripods anywhere on the playing surface. Makes for a long game recording distance, but it’s no big deal really.
- the facility seems to have the most amazing Air Conditioners in North Texas. I wonder how it is in the summer
- No netting between courts. So there’s a reasonable amount of “ball on court!” Scenarios, but it wasn’t too bad.

Had a prior bad experience with Excell. Well I thought I did but found out after volunteering to coach that it wasn't Excell but the coach that was over my son's team. I have gotten to slightly know the staff and found out that they are more than willing to try and accommodate any conflicts with game days and practice days and times. I gave 4 stars because I still feel even though I have a different outlook on Excell I still feel there could be more done to make game play fair.

For Terrell to spend billions of dollars on this facility and make you pay for a membership in order to enter the place and your not able to use the amenities for recreational activities... Terrell needs a place like a rec-center for the public to go and enjoy time with friends and family especially in this world of separation... So don't go thinking that the TERRELL EXCEL CENTER is a good place because it's not... Screw Terrell!!!

I’ve have hundreds of reviews of various establishments, most are recommendation for great places to visit. I wish the same was true for ExCel.
My wife had gone early to let the boys play a little pregame practice at the new courts. She was confronted by the “manager” and belittled. He reprimanded her for coming early and was rude and disrespectful in front of the children. No tact. Poor candor.
The facility may be amazing, but I hope this feedback resonates within the management team, is assessed, and improvements made promptly.
I will change my rating upon making contact with management.
Update: issue resolved. Thank you for taking the time to discuss the issue and resolving.

Nice courts and in door soccer field but who chose those bleachers? I have never sat criss cross in a bleachers before. These bleachers are for small children not adult. With that being said it a shame there is no outside chairs allowed. The older silver head guy that acts as manager needs people skills. Very rude how I heard him speak to others as I drank my coffee in the morning. Another poor decision, at least let people bring their coffee in.

The older manager guy that walks around being bossy has a problem and needs to learn how to talk to people especially since it’s a place for children. If he doesn’t like his job he should quit. Also the scheduling is horrible they don’t have the kids best interest in mind. They only let you practice the SAME DAY as the game. So for 15 minutes before the actual game they get to “practice” . That short amount of time for children is nothing there’s no way they can learn anything without the proper time allotment.
