I just needed to get this out of my body bc it's the most disgusting and disturbing behavior I have ever encountered in my life. Fitness 19 - Katy, TX has someone by the name of Daniel who runs things out of the West Rd location. The monthly $20 had gone through and with my surgery (needed emergency surgery about 2 weeks ago) I was like oh yeah let me go and freeze my acct and see if that $20 can be refunded or how the freezing and the whole process works bc I'm gonna be down for a long time and haven't been able to utilize anything etc etc. Instead of just telling me what their policies are he tells me "that isn't how the real world works," that I’m “not gonna make them pay for what was out of their control" and goes on to belittle me as a person in the most condescending of ways and in the most disrespectful tone. I share how disgusted I am with his behavior, I share I can't drive, etc bc of my surgery.... I tell him instead of freezing now I need to cancel, at first he says he'll let them cancel me over the phone but he then changes his mind and I'm told I have to walk in to do so, surgery or not.

I'm just in complete disbelief and utter shock by this "persons" way of treating anyone. Especially when I'm literally just saying idk how their policies work and was just asking questions. 😳

Very small gym but also incredibly affordable. I haven't had any issues with availability of the treadmill or various elliptical or stair climber machines when Ive been going (around 5p). I've been focusing heavily on cardio workouts so can't really comment on the weights section. Staff doesn't hassle or bother me at all, I just sign in and go workout. No hard sell on individual workouts, no upsell nonsense, etc.

Would like to see a little more cleaning of the machines after use. But it's not a major problem but rarely see staff cleaning the machines (the people who used the machine could really help out here also!).

We paid cash for our annual memberships so no issues with overcharging or credit card charges or access to bank accounts which was VERY nice. I recommend this approach.

This place has a decent gym for price. The actual machines and lifting stations are fine for what they are, and there's a good amount of variation for exercises. It does not however have the best customer support, and can be a money drain if you are not careful. My account is supposed to be frozen until december of this year, and I just got charged for november. Also in order to freeze or cancel your acount, you have to physically go in to sign a form. Even then, they require like a 30 day notice before they actually freeze or cancel the account, which makes no sense. Know what you are paying for, and MAKE SURE YOU OBTAIN A COPY OF ANY CONTRACT YOU SIGN FOR YOUR USAGE! Probably going to cancel when I go back.

Honestly, I have no complaints about the gym experience. It’s a basic gym. My disappointment comes from being told to come inside to cancel, and not being explained that for two months I would be charged almost a $150 in fees. My disappointment also comes from being told to cancel before the yearly dues, which I did and THE YEARLY DUES WERE CHARGED ANYWAY. When I showed up to complain, Daniel wanted to usher me to the back. Nope. Dignify me up front. He just waved his hand and walked away. READ THE OTHER REVIEWS. He gives a lamé response in the comments. I blame myself for assuming excellence in customer service from a low rate gym.
I definitely got what I paid for - it’s cheap for a reason.

I have been a member of this gym for years. I have had to cancel my membership a time or two back when I wouldn’t go as often and thought it was a waste of a bill but have never had to go through a hard time cancelling my membership. You do have to visit the facility to cancel but that’s no big deal. Almost every time I’m there, someone is cleaning the machines. I haven’t seen any “out of order” signs on any machines lately so if there ever is any, it’s not for a long period of time I’m sure. Everyone I see go there is doing exactly what I’m there to do, work out. I’m not there to pass judgement on anyone or the facility. After all it is a gym and for the price, you can’t complain much. If it’s not suitable to your liking then shop around. In the end, no matter what machine you work out on, clean or dirty, your not going to get any results if your standing around judging and complaining……💪🏼. To each their own.

Gym is dirty. Trainers are unprofessional and they don’t let you cancel without jumping through hoops. I’ve been trying to cancel for a year and the first time they didn’t let me and I said fine. But after going back and still not getting the expectation of a clean gym I don’t want to go back and when I call they tell me I have to go in to fill
Out a form. If I’m telling you to stop drafting from my account, then you don’t have the authorization to do so. And from what I’ve heard even when you do cancel you still get charged for other fees. 3 years later. Fitness 19 changed their banking identification # again and charged me twice on March 28 for $100/transaction and again on March 29 for $100 more. I spoke to someone who called themselves Joe who refused to remove my information from their computer.

Don’t waste your time. Awful experience, went to this gym one time. Cancelled membership with Austin and I’ve been charged 3 times since. Two times on the same day-yesterday. Disputing transactions and had a stop pay put on my bank account with Fitness 19. Just garbage.

Update 6/8/2020
Fitness 19 found a way around the block on my account by using a different merchant number. Seriously? Yes. With everything going on in the world, Fitness 19 is interested in robbing people. I had to put a new block to my account to stop payment to this place. I literally tried the gym ONE time back in January and disputed every charge since. Please don’t give them any of your info. My bank informed me when placing the second block that the transactions were manually entered. They are crooks. Class action lawsuit?

Fitness 19 was able to charge me again!!!! I was charged by a different location this time August 5. An $80 charge and a $5 charge the same day of course. It's criminal. This gym needs to be put out of business. Period.

Fraudulent company. Do not enroll at this gym because even though you cancel your service they will start charging you again even on a different credit card. I had to call in the bank and post a block on Fitness 19. If you have enrollment there please be careful with the owner of this gym. Billing fraud beware. Three months after canceling they charge arbitrary charges plus they find a new credit card and change again altering any detail to get charges. They are not to be trusted with your information.

Update in response to reply: Moved out of the area and called several times to explain. Currently, I am in Guatemala. Fitness 19 IS a fraudulent company that wants to explain away stealing money using technicalities. This company searches out and finds ex-members who have not technically and physically come in to cancel their membership, even when it is impossible to do so.

Joint fitness 19 because of the low price rates but it’s like they say you get what you pay for equipment constantly down when I noticed nothing was getting repaired I Started using the gym at Katy but had to stop because of constantly overcrowded I canceled the account but noticed I still kept getting charge so I had to talk to my bank and stop payment talk to the gym I sent them the paperwork multiple times about canceling my membership back in August it’s December I’m still getting harassed after repeatedly sent them the cancellation paperwork that they gave me when I canceled it in person.

My husband was charged for saying he wanted to join over the phone even though he never went to the building. Then they said he had to cancel in person. I was like heck no! I received a flyer to sign up 0 down and $10 a month, which I thought was great. I called right away and spoke to Daniel the GM. (I had mentioned 2 of my friends are interested in signing up also) He informed me that I'd need to go in to sign ppw, to officially be a member, he never mentioned when. Within one week he had blown up my phone (txt msgs) asking about my friends phone number, asking me if I wanted to sign up for extra classes. At this point I'm kind of annoyed that he's texting and texting me, but I ignore it. So I do continue to gym shop and found a better gym 24HR Fitness. I decided to go into Fitness19 and cancel. (card on file so wanted to make sure nothing was going to be charged) Daniel did not want to even speak to me, as I explained to him I have not SIGNED anything yet, confirming membership, so I shouldn't be charged anything. He was not interested, did not care about anything I had to say. He stated that I had to pay the last month and needed to sign for it. I informed him that I am not signing anything, because I have not signed anything to begin with stating that I am a member. He says "look at the text msgs, I told you that you had 7 days to come in and sign, it's too late'' I pulled up txt msgs and I said "WHERE did you say that? It's not here" he said "OH, YOU PROBABLY DELETED THEM!'' lmfaoooo WHATTTTTT, I said "pull up your text msgs and lets compare'' .........Daniel is rude, and very pushy to sign up for this this and that. When I first came into fitness 19 Jan 2019 I was greeted with such enthusiasm with the front desk employees. All of the employees are so friendly and helpful and are willing to take the time to help you out or attend to your fitness goals and needs. The manager Daniel is so welcoming and understanding of each members individual needs. Their kids room is really fun for my 9 month old. If the room gets too crowded they will send employees to the back to help out. Not only the staff but even other members are so helpful and friendly. Fitness 19 is a home away from home and has been such an incredible experience for my family, and my fitness needs.

The reviews about this gym's poor cancellation policy are true - they will claim you have a window of time after joining to decide if you want to cancel or not and then give you the run around when you wish to cancel during that time frame! I cancelled over the phone and no one told me I had to cancel in person for it to be valid. I was charged a week later and called only to find out I had to come sign a cancellation form which was news to me. After a month I have been charged 4 times even though I literally cancelled the day after I signed up. Today a girl had the nerve to call and tell me they were having issues charging my Visa on file! I asked to speak with corporate - I was told there is no corporate. The manager was conveniently on vacation. Oh, and all they could do for me was offer me a 6 month membership instead of a refund. Unacceptable! It shouldn't matter if I sign a form or not - cancelled means cancelled aka I am not using your service so stop charging me! It shouldn't be a fight. The customer service is terrible, the staff unprofessional, and the practices dishonest.

Please, if you have experienced similar I urge you to file a complaint with the better business bureau otherwise they will continue acting like sore losers and mistreating those who cancel.

Been a member three years. Seen people come and go, and stopped going for about 1.25 yrs, but am back. The workers are nice and it's gotten better in the last few years. Some machines are old, but useable. Trainers are nice. Not overly crowded, and they recognize you and some even call you by name. TVs, music, tanning and childcare. Reasonably priced and open everyday. Could stand a revamp and update on some machines, but it's okay. Hymen, manger, is great and been there years. I train with Johnny, he's new there, but great, too- a master trainer. There are plenty of gyms around, but I like this one because it's personable and close and I don't have to fight for machines, usually.

Fitness 19's website claims to have a cancel-anytime membership policy, but when I tried to cancel my long-term membership, a few days after being billed, I was told I would get 1 more bill (for a month I wasn't going to use). But when the bill came it was for TRIPLE my normal membership rate $60 instead of $20). Fitness 19's web site does not even have a way to contact the organization to file complaints against their individual franchise locations. The only way these kinds of places will stop treating former customers like dirt is if we as consumers take a stand. We will not tolerate this kind of post-service abuse!

Will not allow me to cancel, manager says he must be there to approve then every time I go, he is not there to approve. They continue to charge me, refuse to approve my cancellation request. Elmer, the manager is demeaning over the phone. I am trapped while they threaten to ruin my credit.

Very satisfied for what it is: a gym with plenty of equipment at a low cost. If you want a bunch of extras, go to another gym and pay 10x more a month. If you want a place to get in, work out, get going, then this is it. Works for me.

Good well kept clean gym. Just can't get past the fact theirs no locker room or showers so plan on going back home before work.
