If you value respect, safety, or basic human decency, do not come to this Gold’s Gym.

I was keeping to myself with my headphones on, not bothering anyone, just trying to focus on my workout. Out of nowhere, an older man I had never met began harassing me. He interrupted me mid-set, stood directly over me to block me from continuing, and refused to move — making it impossible for me to keep working out.

At the time, I had completely lost my voice, so I couldn’t defend myself or ask him to leave. Instead, he followed me around the gym, stared at me, and made degrading comments like:
• “You don’t even know how to work out.”
• “You shouldn’t even be here.”
• “This is a waste of time for you.”
• “You should not be here.”

I wasn’t doing anything wrong — I was there to better myself mentally and physically — yet I was cornered, humiliated, and made to feel unsafe in a place that’s supposed to support its members.

What makes this worse? When I reported it, the front desk admitted they had previous complaints about this man. This was not his first time. The manager told me members are allowed to harass someone at least once before the gym will ban them.

Let that sink in:
At this Gold’s Gym, a paying member can stalk, insult, corner, and block another member — and face no consequences the first time.

This is not just bad policy. It’s negligence. It’s putting members at risk. It’s telling paying customers their safety means nothing compared to a membership fee.

If you want to spend money to be harassed, trapped, and dismissed by management, this is the place. If you want a gym that actually protects its members and respects them — go anywhere else.

This gym does not care about its members’ safety. I will never return, and I strongly urge anyone reading this: stay far away.

Honestly...this gym is kind of a dump. One would think it should be nicer since it's in a nice area. Nope. Weights are consistently scattered around, bathrooms clearly not being looked at or cleaned everyday. I think I'll continue making the hour commute to a planet fitness. This golds gym is just NOT it.

Harassment by the GM with emails sent by Gold's I owe a balance. I filed a complaint with the FTC when Gold's did not meet their deadline on May 14th, 2025 to click to cancel. I was one step ahead of them changing my visa card number due to many people leaving reviews having problems canceling memberships and constantly being billed.

Multiple times I have address my privacy being violated with Ben and his staff about people taking pictures in the bathroom when their are two signs that prohibit it. They did not enforced their policy and just say to the person not to do it again. I went to the Bee Cave Police Department a few times and made a police report because, that is what I was told to do at the Westlake location and their cameras don't work. The police made visits. An officer told me if you keep calling us and if the person is their they will make out a police report on the spot and the members will start to worry why the police keeps showing up.

Do not contact me again by email, phone, in person or writing a review. Don't even post my name. This is anonymous. I will file harassment report with the Bee Cave Police Department who already visited you. You've been warned.

Mediocre first impression. Only my first visit so hopefully some change will be seen and I will update the review. Straight to the negative, the first machine I used felt under maintained, loose, noisy and didnt utilize the full motion. Second machine was smoother but felt the same and had torn hand grips. At this point I started looking around to see torn seats and more machines under maintenance. That being said, a few positive things from day one. There is a lot of equiptment, more than the images reflect. Most equiptment is in good shape especially in the free weight area. The 2nd floor is utilized for the cardio machines, which is nice being away from the main floor. The opening 5am croud wasnt bad but it got busy around 6-7.

Excellent area to stretch before & after your workout. Excellent amount of cardio machines upstairs. Excellent amount of weight machines. There's an area for free weights and a classroom; I've used neither, but they're most likely at least adequate.

The only issue: The locker room, especially the shower, area needs an upgrade - it's kind of gross.

We are lucky to have many Gold’s Gyms in the Austin area, but the one in Bee Cave is by far my favorite. The equipment assortment and layout is great. Was out of town and came in for a drop in. Friendly staff. feels a little bit dated, but there for the workout not the decor. Equipment seemed decent, if somewhat worn (I was there primarily for a rowing workout and the C2 rowers upstairs have seen better days and have not been well maintained). That said, deserving of a good rating as it was what it should be!

This location is not the best compared to other locations in the Austin area. It is extremely crowded, and there’s not much space to use free weights. There is a room in the back with pads that you could use. It’s a fairly clean facility. The sauna is the smallest sauna I have been to out of the Golds Gym locations around Austin. The employees aren’t as kind at this location either.

The staff is incredibly welcoming and attentive, and you genuinely feel like part of a community—or even a family. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a gym that offers not just excellent facilities, but also a supportive and inclusive atmosphere!

They will con you if you attempt to cancel.
You’ll call and get the run around and they will buy as much time as they can to get your money even though you’ve notified them already or make some reason how they can’t cancel without you being present etc. It’s 2025, keeping things this hard
To cancel is intentional and unethical.
Then you’ll cancel and forget to check for your confirmation and they continue to bill your for 6 months before selling your debt to a collector with no notice or opportunity to defend yourself.

The gym is perfect for me. I stated pickles pickleball a few months ago, and I realized how important strong legs are. This squat machine was critical in therapying my legs back to strength. Your back are forced straight, and you can control the resistance. You can also vary your leg separation. Wide stance or narrow. That is the important part.

BEWARE!!!! SHAME ON YOU GOLD'S GYM!!! Apparently if you move to a city/state that does not have a Golds Gym anywhere with in 100 miles, you HAVE to go in to the BEE CAVE location and cancel your membership. I moved, found out there are no Gold's here, so I called the corporate "855" number and was told they can not cancel on the corporate line I HAVE to go to the gym. I live 1,254 miles away, soooo that's not an option. I called the gym 4 times and the desk workers said they can cancel it, but a manager will have to call me. I NEVER received a call back June, July, August, but got a NASTY call and email saying I owe $120 in dues and late fees for a $19/month membership I have had for 11 years and attempted to cancel 4 times since I moved in June. In the letter they are threating to "CANCEL" my membership.. Well Gold's... PLEASE CANCEL IT. We are living in an economy of parasitic companies where businesses like Gold's thrive off this autopay and make it difficult to cancel. Again, SHAME ON YOU GOLD'S GYM.

I’ve been a loyal member of golds gym for a while now, but I have been extremely disappointed by their need to tack on unnecessary fees lately. It’s awful to ask somebody to pay $80 for a one month subscription , all because of a $50 annual fee. I simply do not understand why the clause exists, and why I cannot just pay the monthly fee of $30 or $40. I’m a student who comes home from college during the breaks, and it’s becoming increasingly unaffordable for me to continue going to this gym. This annual fee adding up to a total charge of $80 for one month is going to the reason I’m highly unlikely to be a golds gym customer again.

5/5 simply because I’ve seen it all, having both worked at and been a member at multiple health clubs across the country.

Affordable and not painfully crowded.

Equipment selection and availability is just right for my needs.

The gym is as clean as any other gym with similar amenities and given the volume of use. Locker rooms, gym floor, sauna and equipment all appeared in good order and there were plenty of stocked cleaning stations nearby.

Thx, M Dunn

Go elsewhere.
Soo many rude, self-entitled gymrats at this location - most slam weights down hard and don’t give two hoots about those of us who Don’t Wear earphones!!
Many seem to be clueless about gym courtesy. Or sanitation.

People dont clean or wipe after themselves either or cover their mouths when they cough.

On breaks and summer, the high school kids hang around trying to look cool sitting on equipment that we members pay for and they just stare at their iPhones. Just an icky self-absorbed
crowd.

THE NOISE POLLUTION IS HORRIBLE!!
Today for an hour, THERE WAS A GUY BUILDING EQUIPMENT WHILE THE GYM WAS FILLED AND CAUSED SO MUCH STRESS WITH THE LOUD DRILLING, RATCHETING AND OBNOXIOUS NOISES HE WAS CAUSING WITH HIS TOOLS. YET THE MANAGER SEEMED LIKE HE COULDNT BE BOTHERED.

Front desk staff are quite welcoming but the mix of members and overall environment isn’t too good. .not many seems to have manners at all.
JUST A LOT OF THOUGHTLESSNESS WE HAVE OBSERVED AND EXPERIENCED.

I usually use this location for my backup gym. The locker room is usually small as compared to other Gold locations. The equipment is setup tight together.

There's another adjacent area of the gym, were the A/C wasn't been operational for sometime and a industrial type fan instead is being used. Although, the gym does appears clean, many guests don't bother to wipe down the equipment after using it. Usually during the day it's often crowded with students from the local high school.

Equipment is occupied by people sitting using their cellphones. Oftentimes you'll see small loud groups talking and socializing. However, both the staff and trainers are friendly and knowledgeable.

I’ve been attending this gym for around a year and a half now, and I can confidently say it is one of the best in the Austin area. The combination of amiable staff, various machines/benches, the wide selection of cable attachments, and a lively community make this gym the gold standard of muscle-building gyms.

From a purely muscle-building perspective, this gym beats the YMCA, Lifetime Fitness, and Westlake Gold’s Gym. Its equipment is well-stocked with plenty of static bench variants, two decently kept Smith machines, and plenty of squat racks. Furthermore, there are plenty of cable systems, a wide selection of machines for every muscle group, and some boxing bags. If dumbbells are your thing, multiple sets of lower weights and some higher weights reach up into the 130+ range, with plenty of static and adjustable free benches to accommodate.
I also appreciate the well-thought-out equipment placement in this gym; the benches are not too close, nor are they sporadically spread out. If you need some water, there are also many fountains, although some are colder than others. Its 35-40 dollar price is the best option for anybody looking to effectively build muscle for a fair price.

However, the best aspect of this gym is its staff and community. The staff here is exceptional as well as helpful. They initiate conversations, actively listen to what their clientele says, and provide thoughtful responses. Two staff members, Jaq and Keaton (hopefully I spelled their names right), are outstanding. Jaq is an all-around fantastic dude; he’s nonjudgemental, always has a bright smile, and frequently starts conversations with me and other gym members. Furthermore, my conversations with him have always been genuine; he seems to honestly care about the people he interacts with. Moving on to Keaton he is a knowledgeable and respectable staff member; he is always willing to help other members and provide in-depth feedback to their questions. Similarly to Jaq, he is well-mannored and kind to those who walk up to the desk. This is not to say the other staff isn’t kind either; these guys just stick out to me.

The community is also quite accepting, with plenty of nice and mindful people who frequent the location, and the sour interactions I did have were from people who don’t frequent that gym (I haven’t seen any of them since our interaction). I can’t speak on the personal trainers or the classes, but I imagine they’re pretty decent.

Generally, as long as you follow the rules and apply some common sense, you’ll never be approached by the staff or called out by other gym goers.

Now, this wouldn’t be a complete review without a few minor complaints, so here they are: I find that the lids for the wipes often tear the wipe and get stuck under the restrictor, causing you to have to open the thing or just find another station (stronger wipes might help). The Smith machines are slightly gritty, so it might be time to oil up the two safety drop bars. As with any gym, more 45 plates always help as well. Lastly, there seem to be a few unused machines due to their being better alternatives, newer models, and or the machine itself is a little too niche (the bar climb machine). I understand money doesn’t grow on trees, but I feel these machines could be replaced with different or newer machines.

It’s a good gym, one of the few in the area. The equipment and staff are great. It’s well air conditioned too.

Areas for improvement: 1) wifi strength 2) the locker room is a bit dingy and could use modernizing. I generally shower after my workout and prefer a fresh and clean locker room, the sauna could be bigger too. The gym could possibly build cubbies for people who don’t use the facilities and a nice locker room for those that do or have an executive locker room that provides more luxury for a higher membership fee.

Probably going to have my membership cancelled for writing this, but I can't in good conscience simply sit back after what happened today.

I'll preface this by saying I'm usually never someone to write reviews. Simply not who I am, but after today I'm as confused as I am offended.

A gentleman I routinely attend church with asked if he could start coming with me to the gym as he wanted to get in better shape and wanted a workout partner. I was thrilled that he wants to prioritize his fitness and get in shape. We started working out the following week and shortly after the first day, Ben and Kevin approach us and ask if I can step aside to speak with them privately. I gladly agreed, and to my confusion, they start berating me with false accusations of being a personal trainer and poaching their members. They told me about an "out of house trainer" policy and how that places tremendous liability on the gym. Completely understand, no argument there. My confusion lies in that I'm not a trainer, nor have I ever held a certification, the gentleman is personal family friend whom we've known for months, I was not getting paid, and we were completing the workouts together.

I was then told that a write up would be done and put in my file and that if I was seeing working out with another individual at any point again in the gym that my membership would be terminated.

Here lies my confusion - upon looking around, there were at least half a dozen pairs working out together. These ranged from high school aged kids, to couples, to older individuals.

After asking for clarification that I would no longer be able to work out with another individual in any capacity, I was told that is the case and that my membership would be terminated if caught. However, that they "were always hiring, and if I wanted to come work for them they would be more than glad to hire me as a trainer."

After being a golds member for several years, I think it's time to find a a new gym where the staff doesn't berate the members with false accusations and threats.

Good classes and instructors! They stopped locking up two sets of weights forcing everyone to go to one rack for weights during a pandemic requiring masks and a 6 ft distance from one another.

Not sure what's going on with your company. Came to try out the gym based off of internet marketing that reached out to me about a free 7 day pass. Set an appointment and showed up. The two people at the front where very rude and acted like I was lying; even with me showing them the texts between me and Corey. Didn't ask to speak to a manager or anything just told me they didn't know what I was talking about and they couldn't help me. This is very upsetting and a waste of my time. Your marketing team and sells team should be on the same page. I will be going to another gym based off this bad first encounter, wouldn't want to spend my money with your gym.

The low reviews around cancellation and billing procedures are spot on. I suspended for 3 months during Covid lockdowns a couple times. After the last suspension, they stopped billing for 6 months and resumed without my permission. When I went into gym, as they insisted instead of the phone, they offered $15 monthly to hold same rate but didn't follow thru and charged regular rates. This prolonged later cancellations and allowed draws.

I cancelled after 18 years and don't see going back.

Golds fit is awesome here. Can't say enough good things. Adan, Blaine, and Michael are great and push you to the limit. Those are the only instructors that I have had so far. All have a different style, but they are all great. It's a great way to workout all parts of your body. I feel great after doing these classes for about a month now. Look forward to these everyday

Most of the staff are nice and professional. Five stars.
Good upkeep and maintenance. Five starts.

Two star for the management and its billing practice. They are not doing their job when it comes to membership cancellation. My wife cancelled her annual membership 7 weeks ago, but last week they renewed her membership and charged for another year. They said it was their mistake and could be taken care of. I waited a week and nothing has been done. And even worse, now they are saying they couldn't find the cancellation request. I have the confirmation email they sent me after the cancellation. How can they not get strait this simple process? Even if someone drop the ball by a mistake (with the benefit of doubt) why would the management and the corporate office just leave the ball and not pick up and fix the mistake?

This is second time I am going through this. When we tried to cancel the membership a year ago, they told us to come back later since there were a couple of months left on the annual membership. When we came back, they said they could not cancel it because the manager wasn't in the office. A couple of weeks later it was renewed. We wasted whole annual membership just because of their unwillingness to accept simple cancellation request.

Enrolling is a breeze. Why not make cancellation easy like that? Learn from Netflix and Disney. Easy cancel policy actually brings back people.

Member with Golds Gym for 25 years plus (family plan). I have had it! Started billing me without my permission, had it on freeze due to Covid-19. Now they are saying masks not required in the gym. Also they keep minimizing the space in the gym for other paid services, meanwhile I getting billed for the same amount. Just cancelled but of course I will get billed another 30 days because they make it impossible to get anyone of the phone to cancel.

I've been a member of Golds for about 6 years now. I've reviewed several. This one is my favorite I've ever worked out at. it's not the biggest gym in town, but it's got all of the best equipment. The smith machines are smooth, and all the equipment if very well maintained. Distancing and sanitation guidelines are followed here a lot closer than other golds in town. My best part is being greeted by the front desk attendance when you walk in. You're acknowledged by name on the way in and on the way out. Rayne and the rest of the staff are super nice and awesome at their jobs. These people put themselves at risk working in a gym, and they show up everyday with a great attitude and a smile on their faces.. You can still see it even with a mask on, and that's really amazing !! Thanks Golds Gym Bee Cave, you guys are killing it

I signed up and went 1 time in November. It was a free trial and then was billed for a month. Ok. I came down being sick and had a cancellation letter hand delivered so I won’t be billed anymore, I’m sure on a camera, middle November. They have continued every month to try and auto charge me 2-3x a week. It was in my PayPal card account so I have not seen these 60+ attempts to charge me since November until recently. I don’t understand my account was closed they specifically said after receiving letter yup you’re all good, and nobody there can fix it. I’ve spoken to 3 different people and keep getting a 866 number that nobody’ answers. Trust me all the other reviews are true regarding billing. I’ll be taking this up to corporate, and as high as I need too. I went one f’n visit months ago and they billing me and are just “sorry can’t help” I hope they see this too. Someone will be held accountable. You can literally see I’ve scanned in one item months ago yet the logic is oh well yeah we can’t help. How? Nobody can see oh ya this guy came one time let’s get this straightened out. TRUST me that office will be held accountable. Stay the F away from here

THIS is the location to go to if you care about being safe right now. The employees generally care enough to say something, and most gym-goers are following guidelines well. Some do pass close, and a few lower their masks at a machine, but the Belterra location has more than half the attendees walking around not properly masked, or huffing on the aerobic machines in the CENTER of the floor with no mask on. This gym's layout keeps everybody spread enough that it already is safer. I know the parking lot looks a full often, but I believe this is my safest Gold's around.

When employees ask two people who live together, not be next to each other. They should definitely practice what they preach. All golds gyms employees, we're on hanging on each other. NOT 6 feet apart. Giving back rubs. I completely understand that there are guidelines but when the employees are not doing what they are asking of members that Is not professional.

I like it here. The place is constantly clean and updated. I wish that they didn't constantly announce the same thing over and over and over using the intercom but I'm sure it's some kind of company policy. The people don't bother you and the place is clean. Working out with a mask on sucks but if you don't have a home gym what else are you gonna do?

I was very disappointed in this Gold’s location. I provided feedback to Management on a few occasions and they didn’t care, offered some lame excuse, or blamed it on maintenance or corporate. Recently, Management reached out and solicited feedback. They actually seem to care now. I’ve noticed a few improvements and have adjusted my rating to 3 stars (from 1 star) as a result. If I notice continued improvement, I’ll adjust the rating again.

I cancelled my family account back in October of 2019. My daughter (under 18) was "attached" to my account and I made it clear that I wanted the entire account cancelled. Five (5) months later and multiple phone calls to both the Bee Cave gym, the Associate Manager, and corporate, they are still bombarding my email saying my account is overdue for my daughter's membership. I was told they would handle it, but it has never happened. Customer service? The WORST! If I could post this one zero stars, I would.

Only thing missing is a pool, otherwise this gym meets my wife and my needs. My wife loves the aerobic classes especially the pump class. I'm pretty much just into the bike and treadmill for aerobic and weight machines. They have Gold's and large free weight area fit for the serious workouts. There is child care and a small women's only area. There is a large staff of trainers , some of whom has been there longer than the 13 years I've been going.

We live in Bee Cave. My wife and I both had issues with injuries and not being able to recover money for months we couldn't work out. I had an injury and couldn't work out, no money back returned to me for months missed. They were really bad on any kind of reimbursement for time lost due to documented injuries for both my wife and I. Granted at the time of injury I should have contacted them but it was the last thing on my mind. Yet I had documentation both on the times of injuries and was unfairly NOT reimbursed for the time I couldn't use the gym. Actually, we had the reimbursement issue with my wife as well. She had a Liz Franc fracture and couldn't get reimbursed for months lost and had documentation provided on the time of injury and the fact she couldn't work out as well. Add to this the gym offers no discount for those 65 or over. We will try another gym.

The facilities themselves are fine. But it’s filled with what seems like high school or college students. They make the experience very uncomfortable (and I’m not even that much older than they are). It’s the behavior that’s ridiculous — not just talking loudly, but taking photos IN THE LOCKER ROOM WHILE PEOPLE ARE UNDRESSING! Isn’t that illegal?!?!?! (I’m not even talking just one person either; it’s like a gym for kids.) I won’t be back to this location. I don’t know why it attracts such a disrespectful crowd, but I’ve never experienced this in a gym franchise.
