It seem like they dont do maintenance to this gym anymore like they used to, there are water leaks when it rains, equipment seems old and not secured to the floor, daycare had to be closed, abs machine been broke for almost 2 months, maybe its gonna end up going out of business thats why they do any new additions, machines been broken for almost 7 months

One of the staff members touched me inappropriately and though management initially took me very seriously and seemed like they were going to do something, I think they just told him to avoid me, but he definitely continued to work there.
Facilities themselves are standard and well-maintained.

Locker room is usually dirty and lockers are broke and have been for some time. When staff gets around to cleaning the locker rooms itβs usually during peak times in the morning when people are trying to get to work. Obviously this gym is understaffed and customer service is not a priority with this establishment.

A week before I was Leaving college station, I spoke With an employee there Ashley, I wanted To cancel and she said there would be a cancellation fee so it would be better to just run it out and cancel on last day of my paying month, and that I could cancel over the phone. When I called To cancel, the man I spoke to said thereβs no way she would say this and I was Wrong, kept saying regardless we would never cancel over phone and thereβs no proof of her saying that so now I have Been charged twice. If thatβs how they treat their guest I will Never return and will tell a lot of friends that have gym memberships there to cancel. Very poor

I am very disappointed in the quality and ethical decision making of the staff members at this gym. I canceled my gym contract, due to the pandemic. I was not using it and did not see the need to continue to pay for a service I was not using. I went in and put in my cancellation (filled out all the necessary paperwork). The team member I spoke to told me it would be processed first thing Monday morning. I purposefully went and canceled my contract before my billing period day (because of the 30 day rule) to eliminate me being charged for an additional month. However, the staff members forged my cancellation date from 12/5 to 12/10. Which would leave me having to pay in Jan due to my billing date. I called to try to get it fixed and the staff members were rude and unprofessional. I asked how a date could magically change and they could not account for the error. I then tried to explain how the situation appeared to me and the team member got an attitude with me... THE CUSTOMER ABOUT THEIR MISTAKE! Then told me that another manager Mr. Wilder would call me back to take care of it, but he did not ask for my number, nor would he tall me when Mr. Wilder was working so I could call him myself. Long story short, if you are cancelling at this location, please make sure that you keep documentation of your cancellation date for your records.

Unmatched personal training. I generally don't take advantage of any "free" personal training offered when you sign up at a new gym because I did so once (at another location) and was very unimpressed. The trainers at Gold's in Bryan really know their stuff. I was impressed that Nick and Lane knew so much about different muscles in the body, how certain injuries are caused and how to prevent them. All of their personal training clients also receive coaching around nutrition and a 30 day guide. I've trained with Lane for a month now and I'm really glad I did because he changed my negative stereotype about personal trainers and helped me reach my goals.

This location has the WORST customer service I've ever experienced! I have been trying to get a hold of the GM or a manager for over a month and no one bothers to return my calls. I've called numerous times so its obvious im deliberately being ignored. It all started with my personal training in which i was told was only a 3 month membership. when i talked to the corporate billing department she said I was signed up for a 6 MONTH membership. i was never aware of this and I would have never signed a 6 month lease knowing i had a surgery scheduled after my 3 months of training. The employees at this location are liars and scammers! I also went in to cancel my gym membership back in July but after also talking to corporate, my account shows no record of a signed cancellation form hence the outstanding balance. I asked to speak to the girl to i spoke to that day and they told me she no longer works there and i will still be held liable for the active pending charges that shouldve never been charged. Do not waste your time and money on this outdated and overpriced gym.

I donβt usually write reviews, but as a member of this gym before it officially opened, I think some might find my reasons for quitting helpful. First, I want to distinguish between the Bryan and the College Station gyms. College Station is well maintained, well run, has good classes, good trainers (NoΓ«l is great) and I have been going there a lot. But Bryan Golds is different. A lot of problems with the gym, and many of them have to do with poor management. It is not well maintained and the equipment is old. It has lots of free weights, but College Station is better. The front desk staff change constantly and often cannot provide accurate information. They also donβt really know the gym and canβt fix problems. Most irritating is they are not allowed to fix problems. For months Bryan must have been the only gym in the country that didnβt show College and NFL football because the gym manager had locked up all the TV remotes. It took the better part of the football season and the direct intervention of the regional head to allow the front desk to change channels for sports . Then there is the music, which consists of Golds Channel pop. And this awful music is not background, it is BLASTED.. I am not exaggerating. After complaining to the front desk with no solution, I downloaded a decibel meter and on two different days at the weight room it hit 82 decibelsβwhich is DANGEROUS and can cause hearing damage. One member of the front desk staff actually started arguing with me that that 82 wasnβt too loud! On all occasions the staff told me they did not know how to turn the volume down. I got a call from the manager who said that patrons requested the loud volume. I guess he canβt see that all the people in the weight area have their earbuds in. Maybe he should go back there now and then? Or download a decibel reader? His solution was to turn it downβto 78 decibels. The next is not nice, but having been there a long time It is deserved.I think the staff plays fast and loose with the accounting to th disadvantage of customers. We signed up before the gym opened with a flat rate and lifetime guarantee that the rate would not change. It says so on our contract. Then the rate changed and the managerβs excuse was that it was illegal to have lifetime contracts. Within a few years we were paying 300% of what we had signed up for. No responsibility from Golds, no effort to make it right. Just the moral equivalent of βwe lied on our contract and you have to pay for our mistake.β Over the years there have been several other instances of similar practices. Once we had to travel and freeze our membership, only to see charges on our account. Inevitably the excuse is that someone ( no Golds employee ever takes responsibility) messed up the paperwork and we got charged a couple of extra months. So sorry, but no reimbursement. The best you get is an apology for misunderstanding, but you still pay. Obvious Question is why I put up with it? For the last year Iβve been going to the College Station Golds for a great class (yea Denise) But the class is over and I donβt feel like driving the extra miles when PLANET FITNESS has a gym nearby. So I quit Golds with what I am quite convinced was sufficient time to avoid a months extra charges. I was assured by the front desk person my account was closed. Then I see charges four weeks later! I have called twice, and all I can get is an apology that someone misinformed me. It turns out that processing my quitting took just long enough that I could be charged for another 30 days! So sorry for any misunderstanding! But no admission that their dysfunctional gym might have made a mistake This is how Golds Bryan treats a patron of almost 20 years You can guess how the will treat newbies. I have joined PLANET FITNESS. It is 1/3 the cost, no hidden fees, cleaner, better equipment. And, I keep meeting former members from the Bryan Gym!

Decent gym, the brand new one in college station (off highway 6) is much nicer however. The gym has everything you need for the most part. It is reasonably clean, safe, and friendly.
The thing i hated was Golds Gym itself; i like the brand and i own alot of their merchandise but the company has corporate memberships ($40/month) and franchise locations ($30/month). The franchise locations wont allow corporate memberships (even though they told me they will at the corporate location) and vice versa. The franchise location also uses a (terrible) third party to manage memberships so don't think that the gym itself will help you one bit when your trying to quit the gym or have any issues with your membership. Also there is a 30 wait period when you cancel which assures that you pay for a month you don't need (even if you dont have a contract). Speaking of contracts the franchise locations make you sign a 2 year commitment, most apartment leases are shorter than that! The corporate gyms let you do a three month, afterwards month to month, agreement which was better.

If I could give it zero, I would!!!!!! I have been calling since April 4th in regards to cancelling a personal trainer within the 30 days, to get a refund. It is now May 18th, no refund. They wont even give me a call back. They are ALWAYS out to lunch. I called at 8:00AM and they were on break, called just now, they are at lunch. It is ridiculous! Poor guy at the front desk having to pick up the slack of his managers. ON TOP OF ALL OF THAT when I cancelled, they did not even inform my personal trainer that I had cancel. Talk about awkward when he texted me about not showing up for my appointment. I guess I can just kiss my $500 goodbye. So, if you want to waste $500 on nothing, by all means sign a membership here.

First of all dont buy there products. I was sold some expired stuff that was a year after the expiration date and then they tell me I cant exhange it, but I have to go to all this trouble just to talk with a specific person. What!? Just waiting on my gf for membership to expire to go to another gym. Most front desk people have no idea what they are doing and some of the trainers as well. As a former college athlete I could find somewhere better that will help me reach my goals. Place is also small for the amount of people that go. I can see they either need to fix their equipment or get new ones. I tend to try to use some of there stuff like an ab wheel, but stuff goes missing and no one seems to know where anything is. Gggrreeaaattt.....

If you were to ask me if I would renew my membership, I would say HELL NO! I would not recommend this gym and here is why. The gym environment is good and that is pretty much the only good thing. The owner and management are horrible. They never give you call backs when they say they will. I had left my wallet at the gym and I went in person and called several times asking if anyone turned it in they kept telling me no. Then I get a phone call 4 months later that my wallet has been in their lost in found. I asked to speak to management and they never got back to me again. Water fountains are always out of order, equipment is sort of out of date, and equipment is always out of order.

Pros
-Lots of lifting equipment to use. With the exception of the squat racks, I don't have to wait to use equipment, even during the busy evening times. This is also true for the cardio equipment.
/Group Classes are never crowded. The instructors are experienced and knowledgeable.
-Ample parking.
-Child care is provided.
-Responsive customer service.
-Reasonable price (a&m employees will receive a discount)
- women's locker room is always clean.
Cons
-Broken Equipment takes a long time to be repaired. (Ex: there are only 2 stairmasters and one has been broken for at least a month).
-There are lighting issues.
-There is no AC in the women's locker room. They have some bootlegged vent/fan system set up currently.
-It is very hot and humid in the gym during the summer. It's as if they don't turn on the AC or keep the air at 80+ degrees.
-The TVs often have connection issues. (I blame suddenlink, the cable provider. They are horrible and one of the only cable providers in the area).
-There is limited towel service. I believe you can pay for a certain amount of towels per month, but I haven't seen anyone "check out" towels.
-Not so much a con as a pet peeve. The gym opens at 8am on the weekends. I wish it would open at least at 7am.

I have never left an online review before but felt compelled to do so on for this business. The manager and salesman are absolute scumbags. They intentionally lied about the contingencies for being able to cancel the year membership (the told me I could cancel it in a situation that I clearly could not). In addition they refused to honor the 3 day free trial pass (because they claimed to be too busy) despite advertising it on the website. Lastly, they refused to accept the value of a Groupon that I had already paid for. I had to file a report with Groupon to get the value I payed for it. Even after having to file the complaint they were unapologetic and offered no compensation. I would strongly advise choosing else to workout if at all possible.

They are very good at scamming one into a contract. I was young and dumb and they conned me into a 2 year contract--my fault. That itself wasn't the bad part. It's a reasonable price--$40 per month. That's the deal you get when you sign on your first visit. If you leave and come back five minutes later they jack up the price of a membership. That's how they get you to sign on your first visit.
I ended up moving out of town (28 miles northeast of this location). You have to live outside of a 30 mile radius from a golds location to cancel your contract. I don't even want to know what they would charge for that "inconvenience" for their company.
Watch out for late fees. For some reason, payments weren't going through on my card so I constantly would pay a $10 late fee.
When your two year contract is over with, they decide to not inform you but, rather, put you on a "rollover" membership and you keep on paying until you catch on. Then you have to go in and fill out a cancellation form (even though your membership contract is through). Then they slap you with something like a $50 cancellation fee.
It's not the employees fault...it's just a shady corporation with good lawyers who know how to write a contract.
I'll never be a customer at golds again. Also, this location sucks. It's way too small for the volume of people there in the afternoon.

I was in town and needed a place in order to keep up on my routine. Service was not very prompt. It should not take more than 15 minutes to get information about working out for 5 days. I could understand if it was really busy, but I was the only person in area and waiting. Also, if reception has time talk at leisure with trainers then they might be able to handle supplying information about promotions and prices.
I decided on the Student rec. center. Even with the less than ideal parking situation, the prompt and friendly service more than makes up for it.
Cheers

I have no problem with the gym itself... but the Accounting and Customer service is HORRIBLE!!! They kept charging me AFTER the 30 day cancellation notice. I even called to be sure that no more charges would be charged and the very next week I got another charge. I called and they said that NO 30 Day notice was ever given so not only would they not refund the last charge, but they were going to charge me for ANOTHER 30 DAYS!!! I have never in my 31 years EVER been this mad at a company. RANDY MATLOCK said that if I had cancelled it online I would have gotten a email confirmation and without that he couldn't do anything about it. Well... I called Gold's Gym Corporate to see if they could look it up for me and guess what - THEY DON'T SEND CONFIRMATION EMAILS!!! I HAVE NEVER BEFORE PUT A BAD REVIEW ON ANY COMPANY FOR ANYTHING... UNTIL NOW!!! SO BEYOND AGGRAVATED!!!
