Love this gym. I come every weekday at 5am and am always excited for my workout. They have the best and cleanest equipment, and the staff is great. I do wish the stretching area were a little bigger but other than that, this is my favorite gym!

Writing on behalf of my daughter who recently started training here and loves it! This is the first fitness team that she’s met that openly understands mental health, recovery, and emotional wellness. Michael sets the tone for the whole group with his outward openness regarding his own eating disorder recovery journey, and it’s clear that he’s taught his trainers how to approach fitness with compassion for all. They train the whole person, not just the physical, which is a welcome change for us!

My partner started doing personal training here and the mental and physical changes ever since have been phenomenal! If you’re nervous about gyms, this is the place to go; the athletic clientele and fancy equipment can be intimidating, but we can’t say enough good things about the fitness team here who support you every step of the way! As newcomers I was worried, but Michael and Nick have been gentle, patient, and extremely knowledgeable and kind. While they create challenging fitness plans, they place staying injury free for the long haul as rule #1. This helps you build strength and confidence that you didn’t know you had!

Probably one of the nicest gyms in town, especially for the price point. They have at least two of every machine, and even includes some more rare machines. They have plenty of space for dumbbells. They offer amenities like free towel rental, a posing room, and even massage chairs. My experience with the crowd has been pretty good. It can get busy but there’s usually enough machines that you won’t be waiting that often. I actually canceled my lifetime membership which was 4x more expensive because this gym had better hours and equipment.

All Austin Golds, turn the sauna up to at least 175 (it’s a waste otherwise)
Update: comment left by golds is directionally untrue. The front desk says the sauna temp is set by golds hq, not them (asked at 3 different golds; dyfj)
Friendly staff, good demographic mix of members, equipment is always available
Sauna needs to be turned up to at least 175, ideally 180. I didn’t go during a high volume time and it was 150. That’s not even high enough to cause a significant hormone response. Do your research

I typically avoid big-chain gyms, but Gold’s Burnet feels personal. The front desk lady, Bryana is sweet and approachable. The place looks intense from outside but is actually incredibly welcoming once you step in. Great for all fitness levels, including people like me who are just trying to stay consistent.

I've been working on my fitness/weight loss at home using a Peloton for the past 5 months or so and figured it was time to do some strength training but I was pretty intimidated having never been to a gym before. I cannot overstate how impressed I was after touring this place and doing my first training session, it was such a stellar experience for a newcomer. Michael Bradford was my trainer and he deserves all the kudos he can get, dude really went above and beyond for the whole hour and I'm very excited to come back and continue training. I don't know what peak hours are; I was there from 8am to 10am and it was crowded but I didn't have to wait for anything. So yeah overall, especially if you're considering this location as a newbie like I was, don't hesitate. 1000% worth it.

hi management - can you guys PLEASE turn down the perfume that yall blow inside the gym? the perfume sprayer machines are above the door when you walk in and in the locker room. i literally am gagging walking into the gym because of the smell (you can smell it from the parking lot) i leave the gym smelling like an old lady. the perfume is so strong that i can smell it coming off my body hours later. thank you!!!

I’ve been coming here a little over two weeks, the gym is absolutely fantastic. The price is unbeatable with the amenities that come with it, I still think the culture is developing cause it’s new but it’s on its way to best in terms of value for me, it’s not a budget gym either, it’s a gym for 50 a month that you’ll pay 300 for the same quality else where in Austin. I believe most of the bad reviews are that it gets packed during rush hour cause it’s so damn good. Honestly I feel like this has the potential to be Austin’s Zoo Culture lol

I can’t recommend Rae enough! She is the best personal trainer. She’s so encouraging, truly knows what she’s doing, and makes every workout fit me. Her energy and attitude are amazing — she pushes you in the best way and genuinely cares. I always leave her sessions feeling stronger and motivated!

I thought I would be intimidated by this gym, but it turns out everyone is just minding their own business getting buff. 😉 That said, my experience has been made even better by hiring a trainer for the very first time. Rae is amazing and I’ve really seen results thanks to our work together. She listened to my goals and I can say I’ve never felt stronger and for the first time ever, I look forward to working out. Highly recommend this gym and especially Rae!

This gym is pretty solid. It’s well-stocked, well-lit, and always seems clean despite the crowds. It does get really crowded at peak hours — but not so much that I can’t find parking or finish my workout.
The machines aren’t my favorite, and they seem to be having trouble with power outages. It’s more expensive than other gyms of comparable size, and the amenities are very basic, but still way cheaper than lifetime or a similar country-club style gym.
If you’re looking for a stylish gym with a relatively younger clientele, this place ticks those boxes.

I joined the new Gold’s Gym Burnet Rd location shortly after it opened in July 2025. I hadn’t been in a gym in years, but I was ready to build strength and consistency. I signed up for the free personal training session and was paired with Rae Datt — and it’s one of the best decisions I’ve made!
From our first session, Rae impressed me with her knowledge, professionalism, and ability to tailor workouts to my goals and abilities. She challenges me every time, but always with encouragement and great coaching. She knows how to push just the right amount — enough to make real progress without ever feeling overwhelmed.
Rae understands how the body works and how to design workouts that get results. Every session is different, and she takes time to explain the purpose behind each movement and how it fits into the bigger picture. I’ve gotten stronger, more confident, and I actually look forward to our sessions!
If you’re looking for a trainer who is both knowledgeable and genuinely invested in your success, Rae is the one to see. You’ll walk out feeling stronger every time.
The gym itself is fantastic — clean, bright, and well-equipped with everything you need for a great workout. The sauna and recovery room are amazing bonuses, with HydroMassage beds and cryotherapy chairs that make post-workout recovery so relaxing. It’s an all-around great environment to train in!

Love this gym! I know people have beef with the parking, which I’m sure is not fun but since I’m able to walk, it is not an issue for me. My review pertains to the gym itself and in particular to the amazing talents of my personal trainer, Nick Duran. I am relatively new to lifting so when I joined, I wanted to be paired with someone who could show me how to use everything properly - free weights, machines, cables, etc. - so that I could start to go on my own and not feel like a tool. Over a period of several months, Nick has been so great about explaining everything in the perfect amount of detail so that my form is great for maximum results and to avoid injuries. Because he is on his own bodybuilding path, it is fun to compare notes and learn all sorts of things along the way about nutrition, styles of training, and what sorts of results can be achieved in what sorts of time frames. He and Michael (Assistant GM) always make me feel super welcome and it’s made Gold’s a very fun (if surprising) space for me. I like looking around the room and seeing people at all skill levels - including some RIDICULOUSLY rad physiques for inspiration. So don’t be intimidated. Just join, get a few sessions with Nick in, and you will be off to the races!

Very clean, the crew is always cleaning! Lots of good equipment from free weights to cardio and machines, with additional perks like recovery(hydro beds, dry sauna and cryo therapy).
The training staff is excellent, knowledgable and helpful, particularly Michael and Sabrina, but really, all of the trainers are excellent, at least from my experience in working with them. I would highly recommend booking a session with Michael, Sabrina, or any of the trainers at the Burnet Rd location.

Decent gym. Quite a bit of equipment; of course, it should be state-of-the-art being a new gym in an high per capital income area. Towels are a nice touch. I’ve stopped by a few times but tend to stick with Highland which has been nicely updated with lots of equipment as well. i didn’t realize this gym was not included in a standard membership. Not worth an upgrade given multiple gyms in the surrounding area have plenty of equipment. My negative review is more about how my “unauthorized “ visits were handled being I was not “allowed” here by onsite leadership. I totally get that there can be different membership versions, even though it is not apparent in my contract. Now that I know, the mgr. who confronted me needs a bit of refinement on customer service and the value it can bring to missed opportunities. He was more concerned about calling out that the membership did not include this gym; and his response to why his staff had not addressed this with me the last three times, his response was unprofessional with verbiage “that’s why I’m telling you now”. His answer should have been “I’m sorry this was overlooked. We have a lot of great things to offer for an upgrade such as….would you like to see more?” Up your game dude and lead by example. Don’t simply say something about upgrading as an afterthought.

I joined when it opened and have never regretted it. The vibe is about accomplishment and pushing yourself with no judgment. Plenty of support and help from members and staff both. I want to thank Mike, the AGM for a fantastic complimentary boxing session. He is so patient, kind, and a great teacher. He made it easy to learn and broke it down in steps. People like Mike are the reason this location is totally premier. The GM, Paul, is also fantastic. He is always present and the members can connect with him easily because he is on the floor, not hidden in an office. The only negative I see are the influencers cluttering up the place, just no because they don't take others into consideration.

Purchased a hat after working out and didn’t try it on because I was sweaty. Tried it on when I got home and it didn’t fit. Tried to return it with the tag still on in excellent condition and they wouldn’t take it back because the “manger is a stickler” which must be code for poor customer service.

Excellent equipment, clean, and great price. Love it. Four stars because every time I go I encounter an issue of people filming themselves or taking photos in the locker room which is an obvious problem and violation of the reasonable expectation of privacy in a locker room. Film or take photos all you want in the posing room. Management should have self interest in resolving this issue.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel like people should be warned about this gym. I signed up for a one-month membership to try it out, then canceled. A couple months later, I noticed the membership had never been canceled, and the gym was repeatedly trying to charge my Apple Card—not just for monthly dues, but also tacking on $20 late fees for every month that “went unpaid.”
I called to cancel again, spoke with a staff member who assured me the membership was closed, and was told I wouldn’t be charged anymore. But a month and a half later, as soon as funds hit my Apple Cash account, the gym immediately withdrew another month’s fee plus yet another $20 late charge.
In my experience, canceling here is next to impossible, and customer service gives empty assurances without actually resolving the issue. Be cautious if you’re considering signing up.

EDIT: I bumped this down 1 star, not because of the gym itself… but their lack of clarity around content creation during workouts. I often see “gym-fluencers” spending more time setting up a shot than it takes to get their reps in.
Allow designated times for this, preferably not in the AM while people are trying to work out BEFORE they got to work. Idk, maybe during a normal work day so they don’t chew up all the equipment? Ugh.
This location raises the bar, I’m hoping that it stays as nice as it is overtime.

Pros:Great machines.Love the versatile machine options they have for legs, and arms.Over all not to crowded in the morning.Staff are accommodating, and professional.
Cons:No hooks in the ladies restrooms. Some of the toilets don’t flush in the center stalls. Some machines don’t have instructions.
Last but not least the hydro
Massage chairs need a membership separate from the one you already have.Which is expected. Just some gyms offer it and they have the right to choose to charge extra.Would have loved to used it after a workout.Yet respect their choice.Crowded in the afternoon. Overall knocked off a star for these reasons. Now to be at that gym you do have to pay a higher price to join that one specifically.$50+ taxes and a new annual fee. They never answer the phones.

I recently discovered Gold’s Gym on Burnet Road and have been thoroughly impressed. The variety and quality of the equipment are excellent, and the entire facility is spotless and well-maintained. The atmosphere is positive and welcoming, with members who are courteous and respectful.
The staff deserve special mention. They were attentive, friendly, and quick to answer any questions, which made me feel comfortable right away. Their upbeat energy truly sets the tone and makes the gym feel like a second home. As someone who is getting back to the gym, feeling happy to go thanks to a welcoming staff makes a difference in staying consistent.
I also appreciate the secure lockers, which provide peace of mind even if you forget your own lock. Overall, I’m very pleased with this location and look forward to reaching my fitness goals here and to try the other amenities.

This is hands down the most beautiful golds gym location I’ve ever seen. All equipment is new and lots of equipment not commonly seen in gyms today such as a Roman chair, turf, deka/hyrox sleds, and specialized squat and hip thrust machines. They also have code locks on all lockers so you don’t need to bring a lock, I consider this a huge plus.
Ironically they lack some basic equipment you see at most golds such as weighted belts and a wheels.
It is also crazy busy at all times with mostly young adults due to the popularity of the gym. If busy is a dealbreaker this won’t be the gym for you, I personally struggle with adjusting my workout schedule to accommodate various machines not being available. It could be leg day and no available squat racks but 8 bench press racks are open.

Over crowed, over priced, parking lot is a nightmare. Prices went from 27.00 a month to 50.00 a month and increase per how many members join. To many people filming their workouts. When I first walked into Gold’s, I felt completely out of place. Everyone around me seemed fitter, stronger, and more confident—and I wasn’t sure I belonged. Then I started training with Michael, and everything changed. He turned the gym from an intimidating place into a place where I could grow, push myself, and actually enjoy the process.
I had already lost 156 pounds on my own, but with Michael’s help, I’ve gone even further, losing more weight and, for the first time, building real strength and muscle tone, something I had never seen on myself before. It’s exciting and motivating to notice that kind of progress. I’m also becoming more comfortable with the equipment and, just as importantly, with myself. Michael is patient, motivating, and always makes sure my form is right. He pushes me hard but always checks in, which makes a huge difference (even though I usually say I’m fine, because I actually like the pressure of pushing into muscles I’ve never seen before). His positive attitude makes the gym feel less intimidating and more like a place I belong.
What I really appreciate is how he keeps workouts fresh. He introduced me to boxing, and I absolutely love it. It’s fun, it relieves stress, and it gives me something different to look forward to besides lifting weights and conditioning. We still do the hard work, but that little break makes training fun and keeps me excited to come back.
I’ve even encouraged a couple of my coworkers to train with him, and they were just as impressed with his coaching. Michael isn’t just a trainer, he’s a motivator who genuinely cares about his clients and their success.
Gold’s Gym should know how lucky they are to have Michael on their team. He inspires people to get stronger, more confident, and excited to keep pushing forward. I’m truly looking forward to continuing my journey with him.

I don’t understand why this is considered a “premier” Gold’s Gym location. Yes, they have a few different machines, but that alone doesn’t justify the higher price. The only real amenities are towels and massage chairs, which doesn’t feel like much of an upgrade. The locker room is small and the lockers don’t even allow you to use your own lock, which is inconvenient. Overall, not worth the upcharge compared to other locations. My first few visits were extremely disappointing. The only special amenities are a towel dispenser and a massage chair room.
The lockers have no option for using your own lock. The lockers have a built-in combination, which you create yourself, but half of the lockers were open and in the locked position, meaning they were virtually unusable until a staff member somehow resets them.
The low ceilings make the music seem extra loud, and it’s overall dark and super crowded.
The parking spaces are tiny, so even if you find a space that isn’t around the back of the building, you’ll have a hard time parking anything bigger than a compact vehicle.
All that to say, somehow, they place themselves on higher tier, where you have to pay for a pricier membership in order to be there. The desk has been so busy the first three times I went, that no one even told me it was another tier when I checked in and worked out. I had to hear about it from a friend who was rejected at the door because he had a regular membership.
Edit: 08/17
The manager just replied, but possibly didn’t even read my full review. I never mentioned the sauna. He says there’s 30% more equipment in this gym. That hardly seems true. Cardio machines alone are objectively fewer than in other locations. I can’t possibly see how there are any more resistance machines than either round rock location, William cannon, Anderson mill, or even highland. I’ve been to every Gold’s in Austin. The towel machine and room with massage chairs are the only clear amenities that make this gym somehow ‘more’ than the other locations. I don’t. See this premier status lasting for long at this location. Gold’s should have known better. Sorry, Paul, but your reply doesn’t cut it. You own the actual-lowest rated golds on google, in the greater Austin area. 3 out of 5 stars is really bad, man.

Typical of this company to try and scam members. If you are already a member of another golds gym you don't have access despite them claiming access to all golds gym. You have to "upgrade" or pay 30% more for the same equipment. This is a marketing tactic they do with new gyms to escalate rates. The gym is newer but it definitely doesn't justify the higher costs. Equipment and everything is still the same. Pass. Not a great business model because it's not competitive with the pricing around the area and customers will be price elastic and sensitive to changing prices in this economy.
If they changed back to allowing all members access and charging new members the higher fee for signing up at this gym they would generate more money by having more people workout, But not everyone is that smart with business (; so instead i will be canceling my membership as a 5 year member and bringing my business elsewhere.

Usually I don’t like leaving reviews, and this review is specifically aimed at grandfathered Gold’s gym members.
When I signed up for my membership I was told I could access all Gold’s gyms all over the nation, Golds Gym Express, Flagships, etc.
I came into this location because I needed to workout and was down the road. I was informed that they were “Allowing me” to workout just this once at the location because it was for a different type of membership.
Mind you, the regular membership I’ve had I believe I pay like $28 dollars a month. It is not outrageous and I am capable of affording the rate of $50 dollars. (I used to workout at Lifetime) but being told that I am “Allowed” was the most annoying thing ever. My membership includes all of the Locations, it is not my fault you decided to build a gentrified version of Gold’s.
I get it it’s an homage to the Venice location which I’ve been to a few times by the way.
I will not up my monthly just to barely go to your “Flagship locations”
Maybe instead of building this location you could as a company remodel all your Other Austin locations because quite frankly they are in need of new equipment.
Maybe also train your staff to build value when explaining the cost difference, offer a tour, I was a sales rep for many years and the way this was handled was awful.
If you’re also going to charge more maybe build actual amenities, not that overcrowded locker room. Give people a steam room, a lap pool, something.
Also while I am at it, it’s weird that they told me the same thing at the Downtown location and tried to up my monthly rate.

I would really like to “like” this place because it has great new equipment and it’s close to where I live but I have to dodge “influencer’s” and their camera/phone set ups. I’m almost always is someone’s video and that’s kind of strange considering I’m not really sure I want to be filmed working out (I’m not click bait material). The lockers are a nightmare because they always seem to be locked but open. Members must do that to ensure they always have a locker. High tier level but no classes and when asked I was told that classes weren’t used that often so I have to go to the CROWDED classes at Westlake.
The gym should send an email to the members and post something at the gym to let them know there is parking in the back of the property as a courtesy to the other businesses.

Story Time Folks! Much like most of the 1 star reviews, this is specific to staff, management & their sign up process. The facility itself is amazing.
Tier 3 gym member here for 5+ years, was told the same that an upgrade was needed to access thier gym for an extra $10 to my account so not a big deal.
Ready to sign and they were unable to do complete it at the front desk, for reasons unknown, so was told a manger would be in touch and a note would be made on my account so I can access the gym without being flagged down until the upgrade was completed.
2 weeks go by and no upgrade. every single time i checked in ( 2-3 times a week ) I was harassed by staff about not having the right membership and every time I had to explain my situation and ask them to look at the notes on the pop up screen.
Monday 8/4 I stop by the front desk and asked the staff member onsite if they had any updates on when the membership would be upgraded because I was tired of being harassed at check in.
The response was nothing yet but better notes would be added to ease the check in process.
The very next day by the very same staff member I spoke w/ the morning before, I was stopped at check in and you guessed it, harassed about not having the right membership! I tried explaining - "hey we - you and I spoke about this very issue yesterday morning, and by your own actions , your notes were supposed to help with this" Her response -" I deal w/ over 3000 members, how I am supposed to remember everything..."
A male manager came over and offered some lame explanation as to why it happened, etc. All I asked was to find a way to get the upgrade done so I can be left alone.
Same morning, the male manager came by, offered to do a Manuel agreement to expedite the process, to come by and see him after my work out. Solid, we catch up - he explains the changes that will happen, an extra $10 to my monthly rate ( knew about this ) and a recurring fee of $65 once a year ( did not know about this prior). My current plan does not have this fee and I do not find enough value in that 1 gym to justify the overall increase.
I advised him that I am no longer interested, I will keep my plan the way it is , I'll use the other gold gym's around the area and not come back to their gym.
Next day I go to check in at Highlands and they tell me their is an issue with my account.
Tell me why , the Male manager at Burnett went and cancelled my entire account because I did not want to signup with them!!!
Luckily, the GM at highlands stepped in called corporate on my behalf and reinstated my account in no time.
So with all that being said, my take away from my experience is Poor staff service, horrible management, difficult sign up process, costly, and deceptive retaliatory business practices.
But hey, at least they have towel service...

Kinda tight in some areas but really nice inside. So many people on their phones camping on equipment like they're WFG (working from gym) or setting up tripods, but not the gym's fault I guess.

If they'd crack down on allowing people to record and lowered the music dB by like 40% I'd give it 5 stars

The information I have received is unmatched. At first they told me it will be 45 to upgrade to this location. Now they are telling me it’s 54, even if I have level three access. Been a member for 5 years and new members who signed up are paying less? Makes no sense, tbh honest might lose my business just for one location. I would understand if their was multiple level three gyms in Texas but their is not

You want me to pay extra for.. what exactly? I went here for a few days on my $35 membership before they told me I need to pay $50 to go here. No classes on site; no child center like the Highland location; stretching area is TINY; nowhere to stand/wallflower if you like RDLs or squatting with dumbbells. Cramped. If you like paying $15 extra for a towel dispenser, more power to you! Equipment is nice — that is all.

Tl;dr
Pay more for less.
I was excited to see a new location opening up near me. I went for a few days after it opened and was surprised by how cramped the facility is. Lots of great equipment but virtually no space to stretch, practice mobility, or perform calisthenics. They also have no child care, tiny locker rooms, and don’t offer classes.
After my first few days I was stopped during check in and informed my membership does not count towards this singular gym. It is a “tier 3” gym and does not count towards the “all golds gym locations” I thought I was paying for with my membership. All in all, you have to pay almost twice as much for a smaller facility that has fewer amenities and just as much traffic. They did little to make this clear in the advertising across town and at the other locations. Complete bait and switch. Bad way to treat your members

Be prepared to pay extra! Maybe I am naive thinking that my Gold’s membership would also include this location. But, no. “This is a tier-3 club. We have nicer equipment and amenities. So you will need to upgrade your membership to workout here. It’s $50 a month”. Been with Gold’s for years, never heard of a tiered system. Sure it has nice equipment and amenities, but it’s an unhelpful way to open a business without advertising this online or in the other Austin locations that have posters encouraging members to go to this location. Why even brand it “Gold’s” if it has a different experience and business model and memberships don’t translate?

EDIT: The sauna is way too small, frequently no room. The chairs in the recovery room dont work. ORIGINAL: I like it, but its a bodybuilder/influencer gym. Almost no stretching/freework space. Already overcrowded after one week open. Destroyed the parking in the shopping center it’s located in. Music is way too loud. Recovery room is nice but should definitely have an autoroller and cold plunge instead of five massage beds in a gym with already limited space

Nice and modern gym with lots of things to like but unfortunately there’s some major deal breakers to this location:
- No parking during peak hours and its already peaking 3:30pm? If you cannot work out deals with the garage please enforce towing on bad parkers and trucks over the line taking 2 spots.
- Have bike parking for locals who biked to the gyms.
- Add labels to machine. Its not obvious. Maybe the German are good with mechanics but rest assured I personally cannot.
Edit: Bump this up to 3 stars as they added labels and instructions to the machine. If parking is good I think this is a 5 stars location.

It's got good equipment. Definitely not the vibe I'd expect from a Gold's. I don't have the tier 3 membership and I'm not really sold that its worth it. Some towels and a massage room aren't worth the $50 to me. I like the body building vibe of the other Gold's so I'll stick to those. Affordable and a good workout. It was extremely packed and mostly influencer types which to each their own. Staff was okay, I did sense some entitlement over me having a Gold's membership but not their level of membership which definitely wasn't a good experience. I won't participate in drinking the kool-aid though.

‼️CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING NEEDED FOR MGMT‼️
Went in to the Burnet location to ask about the current “No Enrollment Fee & $25.00/mo.” rate being advertised on flyers and online. The manager was more interested in listening to an employee’s story than helping a waiting customer. When she finally did get around to me, she told me she “didn’t care what flyer I had, that wasn’t their rate”. When I explained I had called weeks ago and left voicemails & I had 4 people wanting to join if she was able in any way to get us in under those terms she replied, “I couldn’t get you that rate even if I wanted to.”
So….you don’t want to? Interesting.
As someone who works in the service industry, I can tell when someone is not at all interested in trying. The rate is still being advertised on Instagram & social media, which is deceptive at best. There are other gyms in the area that are as good or better to bring your business to LA Fitness, Anytime Fitness, Danes Bodyshop to name a few.

‼️‼️‼️
I usually work out through Gold’s Gym and LOVE the flexibility of visiting different locations around Austin. it really works well with my job. Last week, my husband and I went to the new Burnet Road location for the first time. We scanned in, worked out, and left. No one said anything about needing to upgrade our membership or pay an additional fee to use that location.
Today, I went back on my own, thinking everything was fine. Shortly after I scanned in and started walking toward the bathroom, a staff member named Ray loudly called out my name across the gym, which caught me off guard. She stopped me and said I couldn’t work out unless I upgraded my membership or paid a $20–$25 day fee.
When I explained I had just been there the week before and no one mentioned any of this, she said they allow you to work out one time to try the gym, and maybe the staff was too busy or I “walked in too fast” for them to stop me. Honestly, that rubbed me the wrong way. If I wasn’t told the policy the first time, how could I have known? She told me I couldn’t work out unless I upgraded or paid the fee.
It’s not about the money—I have it. It’s the principle. If I had known the first time, I would’ve either upgraded then or chosen not to return. I wouldn’t have taken time out of my day to drive to a gym I apparently didn’t have access to.
I didn’t escalate things or ask for a manager because I didn’t want to waste my energy arguing—but I’m leaving this review in hopes that the staff improves their communication moving forward. I still like Gold’s Gym overall, but this experience was frustrating and could’ve been easily avoided with a little clarity from the start.
Nonetheless, I won’t be back and won’t be ‘upgrading’ my membership lol

The new gym on Burnett, which replaces the beloved 183 gym that was torn down, offers a fresh and thoughtfully designed workout environment. I’m fortunate to train early in the morning when it’s less crowded, which enhances the overall experience.
The layout is one of the gym’s strongest features, prioritizing functional workout space rather than overwhelming cardio machines dominating the floor. There are plenty of alternative options for targeting muscle groups, which is helpful during busier times.
The locker room is somewhat compact but practical, featuring built-in combination locks that are convenient and secure. Cleanliness is consistently maintained throughout the facility, and fresh towels are readily available via an easy-to-use app with barcode check-out, which adds a nice touch of modern convenience.
On the downside, the gym’s music volume is quite high. Even listening to your own headphones at full volume, it’s difficult to focus or enjoy podcasts during workouts. Additionally, the presence of members filming themselves throughout the gym is noticeable and somewhat intrusive. It seems the gym allows this practice, which can impact the comfort and privacy of other members.
Overall, Burnett Gym delivers a solid, well-maintained workout environment with thoughtful design and amenities, though there are a few areas that could benefit from attention to improve member experience. Also, the staff is always energetic and friendly.

Way to ruin the parking lot for everyone! Good luck trying to frequent any of the restaurants in this lot now that Gold’s gym members have taken over the entire parking lot.
If you enjoy driving in circles around a parking lot and watching multiple vehicles all stalk people walking through the parking lot hoping that person is leaving then come on down there’s plenty of it!
Also good luck getting out of the parking lot at the light now since you will be in a line that snakes all the way to the back of the parking lot just to exit.

In typical Gold's Gym fashion, within a week of opening, all the "premium" facilities this gym offers are non-functional. The towel dispenser doesn't work, that's assuming there are towels available. The massage chairs don't work. The temperature chairs don't work. What exactly in terms of premium features are we paying for then? Plus most of the new machines don't have any labels explaining what they do

Great new gym with a ton of space. Only reason it’s not 5 stars is it’s missing standard equipment: no kettlebells above 50lbs, don’t have basics like ab wheels, standard sleds or small bands. That said they have every machine you could ever want. Great for beginner lifters, missing the mark for someone who wants to do more with free weights.
Final thought… the camera tripods are out of control.

Golds has always been a solid gym for serious lifters. It’s a real shame they bought all these awful gym80 machines instead of hammer strength machines.
Just about every gym80 machine is just slightly off… (there’s no tension where the tension should be greatest on the plate loaded lat pull. The lat gym80 pulldown machine doesn’t have a straight pathway down. It pulls down and away from the body. Literally the exact opposite of the way it should be.)
Bottom line: These machines are giving TEMU energy big time. I will say they have great leg equipment similar to lift atx or los. I can’t use this gym for upper body days. Towels is a plus. Cardio equipment is great.

Regular membership not accepted because this is a “Level 3” Golds Gym. You either have to commit to upping your monthly pay to $44.99 AND repay the annual fees, or pay for a $25 day pass. Absolutely fantastic gym! Clean, well-equipped, and the staff is always helpful and friendly. BUT let’s get real: the parking situation is a problem. There simply aren’t enough spots in the front, side or back of the building to handle the gym traffic and the restaurants in the small strip mall. I had to circle around four times before someone finally pulled out. It’s frustrating, especially when you’re just trying to get in and start your workout. Hopefully, they can work something out with the parking garage next door soon, that would make a huge difference!

Impressive new facility that eschews the soft Equinoxing of modern gyms (see Gold’s SoCo) and embraces its weightlifting roots. Similar vibe/rebrand to the Highland location with slightly better lighting, though still a bit dim. Lots of expensive new equipment geared towards serious lifters. None of that Hoist crap. Even their benches are an optimal height that don’t sit you too high. My only gripe is the cable stations are too far away from the free weights, all the way across the gym by the turf—a logistical nightmare for supersetters. Feels like they could’ve eliminated a couple of redundant machines that are destined to not be as popular to make room for the cables in a more practical area.
But no gym is perfect, and apart from the cable stations, this Gold’s nailed what they set out to do. The dumbbell area is massive to accommodate peak traffic, of which there will be plenty. Also, there are FOURTEEN Stairmasters, all smooth as butter. Gone are the days of standing in line for two usable stepmills while you bristle over the rows of unoccupied treadmills and ellipticals. I have never seen a gym respect Stairmaster demand until now.
Being an old head who loves his rickety Cybex equipment from the Flex Magazine era (Gold’s Ben White/Southeast), I can’t properly give this location five stars. Still, it’s an awesome gym and easily the best location on the north side of town. It should also alleviate some of the traffic from the spiritually similar Highland gym, which is beyond overcrowded. Fingers crossed they find room for cables near the free weights.

Imma be honest, the atmosphere is great, the amount of machine is insane and overall it should be a 5 star. I do have some gripes, there’s plenty of machines I look at with no instruction of its use. Looking at it should be obvious enough but it would help. The stretch area is somehow scooted to a small corner where you can tell they forgot about it during development. Even the Ben White location has plenty of room for it ! Still found almost all the machines I use with some being limited to just one or missing. Overall it’s a 3, there’s space but there’s no space either, 2 assault bikes is criminal. It’s really just a jacked up influencer gym but I can’t lie it is nice. The music is louder than most people grunting so take that how you will 🤣

They just opened, and its amazing. Everything we wanted in a gym. Our one complaint is we'd say the music is too loud, but they're doing opening parties this week, with free food, energy drinks, live DJs, the works so its more of a "work out at a dance club" vibe than will hopefully persist after the initial celebrations.
We've been long-time goers of lifetime who left because the private equity backslide into mediocrity has ruined it (particularly for the very very expensive lifetime membership fee.)
If you're looking for a great place to do weights of any kind, this is your spot. Finally north-central Austin is getting a long overdue, beautiful gym we've all been waiting for. Even at the list price of 50$ a month its a steal. Towels are provided and the number of weight machines is staggering, along with tons of free weights. Go & get fit!
