The gym is great for the price you pay each month. I used to go to a gym that cost me $60 per month before joining Gold's, and the equipment there was much worse—with no isolated saunas or group classes.
The manager was very helpful during the contract signing process. My husband and I tend to be very nitpicky when it comes to unclear terms in documents, and he made sure to explain everything clearly.
The staff is always welcoming when you walk in. If it’s your first time attending a group class, they guide you without hesitation. I attend one group class per week with Hope—she’s amazing. She helps people adjust weights, and her classes are always fun and engaging. I love it!
The gym itself is very spacious. There’s a separate area for powerlifting, and I’ve never seen all the power racks occupied at once. I do agree, though, that the dumbbell area is overcrowded—it’s hard to find a bench there. I guess people just love doing shoulders and bench presses with dumbbells like nothing else exists. That said, I’ve never had any issues with cable machines—they’re always available.
One suggestion: it would be great to have an additional assisted pull-up machine. As a woman still working on my upper body strength, I often have to share it not only with others in the same boat, but also with men who could easily do unassisted pull-ups but still prefer using that machine—ugh.
Overall, the gym is nice and affordable. The staff is wonderful, and even during peak hours, the amount of equipment available is pretty decent.

Good luck if you ever try to cancel your membership. I've been trying to cancel my father's membership for over 3 months now and been charged multiple times after asking them several times to cancel it and fill out the paperwork. The manager Len will doge you and lie to your face.

Very sad they are closing! I've loved my time at Gold's and the trainers I've worked out with over the years here. Other nearby gyms don't seem to have as many options for 1:1 training, group classes, machines, and free weights. I will miss the workout options, people, and vibe here.😔

I left a review a few weeks ago and took it down bc I felt you guys saw my review!
1. This gym has a really hard time keeping up with things that are "out of order"
2. The girls bathroom never has soap or paper towels...seriously?
3. The gym itself, spray bottles always empty, paper towel dispensers broken, no paper towels in dispensers.
#4 takes the cake. They NEVER CLEAN THE SHOWERS! I work out 5-6 days a week and shower here more than my own house due to working out before work. So gross! People do all kinds of weird things. I have photos and videos of the same stuff being caked on the walls for over 2 weeks! This has got to be health regulations! I will never go to this gym ever again.

I joined Gold’s as my first ever gym and loved it initially. The amenities were nice for the price, the staff was friendly, and I never had any issues until I decided to cancel my membership. I called, gave my name, number, a reason why, and assumed that it would be that simple. I’ve been called, emailed, and texted numerous times since then about overdue payments. After reviewing my bank statements, I realized they’ve been charging me for my membership since April (when I initially tried to cancel it) and I am fed up. I am incredibly disappointed by the level of negligence. If you’re looking for a low stress and easy-going gym, Gold’s is not it.
Edit: I was told to contact the owner directly, who told me I need to complete payments for an entire year before cancelling, which was not made clear in the slightest before joining. When I brought this up, he never answered my second email. Not only is this establishment shady, but the owner himself contributes to this issue.

Like many other reviews, I have gone in person to try and cancel my membership, called, emailed Leonard several times, filled out paperwork that was “lost”. I hate leaving reviews but the negligence to members is ridiculous. I now live across the country and cant physically come in again. I have even tried to take my card off the account and was told it would go to collections.
PLEASE cancel my membership. Why is this an issue with so many members at this location??

I’ve gone in person twice to this location to fill out membership cancellation paperwork, and they lost my paperwork both times. I even filled it out directly with the general manager, Len Rouse, inside of his office the second time! They are now refusing to give me a refund because they lost my paperwork, and saying I should’ve taken a personal photo of my cancellation form in case something like this were to happen. Make it make sense!!!
Edit: I have been trying to contact you, Len, and you’re ignoring me. You’re really going to make me come in person again to see you I guess!

I am really surprised this gym has such low ratings. This location is my favorite out of the 5 locations I have visited. There are 8 other Gold's locations closer to me than this location, but I would visit this one most often if I could. I only get to this location if I have a reason to be in the area.
I think I like this location bc it seems to have more natural light than any that I have visited and it has ellipticals with incline (the Gold's closest to my home does not have a single machine with incline), and my heavy cardio days...it has the machines close by that I use. I have not visited the free-weights area of this gym, so I cannot give an honest review of that area. I tend to avoid that area of all Gold's (I use my free weights at home) bc I don't like the high testosterone vibe. I just want to workout out in an area with a chill vibe and free weight sections of most gyms do not pass the test for me, personally.
I have only visited between 9am - 11am...and I have never had problems with crowding.
The staff have always been friendly.

I was a current member of world gym when gold gym bought them out many years ago, i would go to the gym at Hesters Crossing in round rock by my house for 15+ years great gym, I used to the pool every day and the sauna. Then I moved out to Cedar Park I used that golds gym for a good six years no issues we currently moved off of in 19. I came back two weeks ago to re-join noticed the pool was closed along with the sauna due to the 2020 issue. They told me there was no plans on refilling the pool or opening the wet area which is very sad because there was a lot of people that use the swim area and was always pack really a waste of my time now was needing the pool. Then the young man that works The front desk had a serious attitude because he actually had to get up out of his chair and get his face out of the phone to sign up my two boys and just acted like it ended the world because he had to do actual work, with those two things alone, I will be canceling my membership and going to another gym. I watch that same young man on Saturday, sitting in his chair face in the phone and I counted 15 people that walked in and never swipe the card. If your employees don’t care about the gym and we have less amenities there’s other clubs to go to really sad to see how far golds gym has fallen since I’ve been gone.

My job has a benefit you can sign up for called Active and Fit Direct. If you’re a member you get a discounted rate at several gyms of your choice. My coworker and I chose Golds gym. It’s in the same parking lot where I work.
My coworker went in a week before me and signed up at Gold’s, no problem. When I went in I spoke to a really young guy at the front desk. “We don’t take Active and fit Direct, only Active and Fit.” I told him “My coworker was in here last week and signed up with the same discount program.” He says “I’m not allowed.”I tried to show him my paperwork, but he said his manager wouldn’t allow it. I asked if I could speak to the manager. He said there was no managers past 5. The whole interaction made no sense.

The gym is clean, the staff seem nice, but none seem super helpful or go out of thier way to be helpful to all the gym goers...which is an impossibility being that the place is super crowded! There are way too many people packed in this gym. Sometimes its a struggle to use the equipment needed to complete a circuit timely. I plan on doing a class soon and will update if needed, but the culture seems to be catered to seasoned gym pros and not really welcoming to beginners.

I recently joined this gym and it’s such an inviting place. There’s a variety of equipment that is available. From what I’ve seen in the short time I’ve gone, if a machine is out of service, it gets quickly repaired. I really love the Body Balance class with Christy! The manager was very kind about me starting my fitness journey and asked me questions in regards to why I wanted to join. Sophia is an awesome trainer and is super motivating! Overall, I feel like this is a very inviting place. It may be intimidating at first, but allowing myself to try different stuff has really made me comfortable here.

I had a very bad experience with this club. My son canceled his membership at the start of November 2022, but Gold Gym continued to withdraw membership fees. After January 2023 withdraw we checked and found that the club staff forgot to cancel his membership, and it's still active. Be careful with this club, check all documents and operations, read fine prints, and make copies. Do not trust their words and offers. Check details. In my opinion, cheating clients is Golds Gym main way to earn profit.

Update January 2023: so that guy who answered this review, Len, did call and promise the moon. 3 months ago. When they charged again in December, WE HAD TO CANCEL THE CREDIT CARD! Everyone knows what a pain in the butt it is to cancel a credit card and move all your autopays over to a new one. That's what you will be doing if you join this gym.
Gold's Gym is refusing to cancel our membership. We moved out of Cedar Park five months ago and they are still charging us, even though I came in to the gym personally and put in the cancellation that they demanded. If you join them they will not let you cancel your membership. It's highly unethical and apparently the gym is being run by some pretty shady people. Do not join this gym. You will be sorry.

My husband signed us both up in early 2020 - I was not present. No major issues when we used the gym but when we moved, wow, I could not be any less impressed. My husband went in to let them know we were moving and a Gold's Gym was not in our new area. They told us it took 60 days for the automatic payment from our credit card to stop and after 60 days the payment for his part of the membership stopped but mine continued. We contacted the manager and he initially informed us I would need to come in to cancel. Funny that I didn't have to BE THERE TO JOIN. Anyway, we told him we already moved 3 hours away so he asked us to send an email and my membership would cancel in 60 days. So my husband's request to cancel didn't count for me too? I swear, some businesses will do anything for your membership fees! This was all after them knowing we had not used their gym for 4 months or longer! NOT IMPRESSED.

Absolutely trash service. Half the building never re-opened and is left looking rough. The rest of the building that is available to use is filthy and the staff is not helpful in the least bit. Child care is non existing and will not be returning so parents beware. To top it all off they mess up my billing every month for 4 months straight.... This month charged 100, last month 58 and so on. Not once have I paid the advertised monthly membership costs. Every month begins with a dispute with golds. When this location changed hands during the pandemic it lost all quality control. No pool no sauna. talk of turning that portion of the building into a crossfit section but no plans are even in place yet. Save your money and go to LA fit or any other gym that's located within a mile of this trash gym.

Big fan of the gym, I’m a new member and use all 3 locations in the Northwest Austin area (Cypress, Anderson, and 1431) the variety keeps me stimulated. The cypress location definitely needs more mirrors, they got like 2 walls fiilled with mirrors and 70% of the rest of the building is windows and Sheetrock..not trying to sound like a narcissist but I like being able to see my form it is a gym and results and mechanics or on your mind 24/7…Anderson location has a nice setup, only complaint is the dry sauna, it takes like 30 min of sitting in it to break a sweat which is kinda silly..replace the machine in there or add another one please. The 1431 location is probably my favorite one, but…the basketball court is dirty dirty…the floors are a liability for pulling your groin, dusty is an understatement. I’m not sure when the last time the floors were swept or mopped but it’s been A WHILE. Please clean that court at least once a week. I’d sweep it if they left a push broom in there (not kidding). That being said i am overall happy with the gyms and would tell others to join when asked if I recommend it.

This gym constantly has broken and missing equipment. The staff has no interest is helping you succeed with your fitness goals and is solely interested in your money. They reported me for using a workout program on my phone. I have never been in any one’s way, I have cleaned up other peoples weights, and cleaned my own equipment and I’m basically told I can’t workout there anymore because I won’t use their trainers. They doesn’t take cancellation request online..so I visited them and have filled the form for cancellation and they told me that one more installment will be deducted and after that it will get canceled successfully. They charged me for two months after that and when i called them they told me for some reasons it didn’t get canceled. They asked me to send an email to the branch manager which I did and I humbly asked him to refund me one month amount that they have charged coz that was not at all my mistake. They did cancelled the membership after that but nobody has ack my refund request. I feel bad about that and will definitely avoid golds gym membership in future. And the email they have mentioned on their website doesn’t belongs to them which again shows how bad management they have. Please avoid membership for this particular branch.

I Joined a few years ago. I recently moved and have access to several Gyms on an Army base. I went to a local Golds Gym to cancel my membership. They told me it wasn't possible to do it that I would have to return back to the Original gym I signed up with to cancel. Unfortunately I live about 10 hrs away. Made a phone call, talked someone, gave them my info, was informed it would be handled, and I was charged the following month 43.29$
Called again talked to someone else, same situation, and charged again. Called back emailed someone (who was just a random person and nobody that could handle anything) and I was charged again. Finally in February I got an email for someone could handle the situation. End of March comes and I was charged again. Right now since I moved here I'm sitting at 259.74$ I was charged. I sent them bank statements and credit card bills. Unfortunately because I'm not the one who's active duty the on base housing isn't in my name and the utilities bill is just a mock bill so my name doesn't have to be on it. I was charged during quarantine and couldn't call because the gyms were closed. I didn't complain. Hundreds of dollars down the drain and customer service that doesn't exist.
Make sure to do your research before you join. Other gyms have better customer service, better hours, and better equipment.

I've been a member since January 2014 at the Cedar Park Gold's at 1890 Ranch. I have seen lots of changes. I continue to see Will Carter for personal training and participating in studio classes. Even with this crazy past year, I wouldn't consider skipping the gym. The Covid-19 lockdown was the longest period for me. Even though I worked to remain active, I felt my fitness gains slipping. I've been back since the gym reopened. I have felt comfortable and seen the staff strive to keep the gym clean and safe to work out in. Will has gotten me back to working out hard again. He also runs several of the Burn and Cycle studio classes. I highly recommend these classes. We do a variety of weight and cardio exercises. Will makes everyone feel comfortable and gives options for various fitness levels. I love the members I workout with and the staff that supports us. You will be greeted friendly from the time you enter the gym until the time you leave. Management is good to listen and work to make the 1890 Gold's the best in the company.

It is pretty good, clean and maintained. It is just flat $25 a month, only thing is once you sign up and if you want to cancel they also change you for next month as well, we have to let them know almost 2 months before which is better i feel for short term membership. Minimum would be 2 months and it would be $50 for 2 months. Make sure you let them know that you want to cancel a MONTH before.

Very rude, condescending staff. Seniors are not welcome here. If you have a special need, you (like myself) will be treated with the utmost disrespect. I cancelled my membership on the spot.

Broken, rusty weights. Many broken machines. Kid can't even sit and wait for the parent at any age without buying a full membership.

I see many bad reviews for this location, but this is a solid gym. People are professional, machines work well, the gym is very big, and it is located in a nice area with many stores. I had to cancel due to relocation, but I had no issues with canceling, they canceled without problems, and did NOT continue charging like some other reviewers complain.

I did like this gym, but their failure to enforce mask restrictions was reason enough to cancel my membership. Management failed to enforce several times including their own employees. Hard pass.

Coming from the Sunrise Location in Round Rock, this place is in desperate need of new equipment. It also could use more frequent cleanings. If things don’t change soon I will be taking my business elsewhere.

My wife and I are coming back to Golds Gym in Cedar Park. We are disappointed with the YMCA. At the Y you have to wear a mask to enter, but you can remove it after you enter. Most people at the Y do not wear masks while working out. Most people at Golds Gym are wearing them.

Many people at the Whitestone location do not wear a mask.... they have one cleaning person for the entire gym, they do not take care of your account I have been there 7 years now since high school.... by far the worst gym in the entire Austin area- because of the employees... I feel sorry for the customer’s they deserve the best and receive the worst!

I canceled my membership over a year ago, both by phone, then filling out the cancelation form requested after being charged yet again. I had to change banks because I was being continuously charged many months after canceling both over the phone... Then in person filling out the cancelation form.
Today I received a collection email from Golds via a collection agency.
When does this end! Anyone reading this... Stay away from Golds unless paying cash! I will also contact the BBB.

Shady business practices. I would recommend you look elsewhere for a gym. Gold’s Gym switch software platform, resulting in lost personal trainer credits. I was left trying to recover with zero help and ultimately gave up. Ended up losing $2,000 in personal training. Really I see it as Gold’s just bought a one star.

Customer service is horrible especially after COVID. They closed down the closest gym towards us in Georgetown and the cedar park location is always crowed, the equipment is old and broken, plus it is a further drive for us. Gold's refuses to cancel our membership unless we pay them $100 per person after they took out $160 two days before the gym closed. If I were you I would sign up somewhere else.

Today I rode my bike 8 miles in 90+ heat to Golds Gym. I arrived between 1-2 pm, unaware that they were closed for "deep cleansing" due to Covid19. I was told that I could not come in to cool off and I was not able to get water either. I was told i had to wait 45 minutes outside. Mind you, there were people working out that were in there prior 1pm. It makes absolutely no sense and shows the complete lack of humanity, courage, and respect from the Gold's gym management and staff. Cowardice move Golds

Not sure why there are so many bad reviews, I like this gym quite a bit. It had an average setup for racks until they got two new very nice olympic platforms/racks a few months back like their counterpart down the road on cypress creek. I don't use the pool so I can't comment there. It's generally very clean, plenty of equipment, not super swamped when I go (6:30-8:00pm), and has everything I need for lifting. Really the only thing I think is lacking would be maybe a steam room but other than that if you're into lifting it has everything you need. I'm thinking most of the people giving this place bad reviews are probably better off at Planet Fitness ;) also I canceled an old membership at a diamond level Lifetime Fitness and they charged me for a few months afterwards, it seems to be pretty common for the industry. Don't get mad because you didn't read the contract that you signed.

This gym is poorly managed. Countless times they have had no hot water. Also the water fountains only put out hot water. They are too cheap to fix anything. Go anywhere else.

I’m a triathlete and marathon swimmer and I’ve tried training at these facilities and it has been impossible. I’ve swam at gyms all over and this pool is massively over chlorinated, the pool room is way too humid, and the facilities are filthy. When I’ve attempted to do my 2 to 4 mile swims, I am often forced to quit shortly in to the swim due to coughing uncontrollably and my lips being dried out from the heavy chemicals. I’ve swam at all different times of the day with the same results. There have been several times I have started a swim here, been forced to quit, and gone and finished the final 2 or 3 miles at Lifetime and felt great. I’ve spoken to the staff here about the humidity and chemical issues and I’ve only received comments suggesting that indoor pools areas will be humid. I don’t blame part time employees - these facilities are so poorly maintained it speaks to poor management. I get that Golds gym probably doesn’t cater to triathletes but I’m generally unimpressed with how they manage the facilities I’ve paid for. So frustrating.

They charge $100 dollars to cancel after 30 days of signing up. Even if you have a valid excuse, you have to pay another months bill even if you have only used the place 3 times. You have a better chance to go to planet fitness. You get way more for your value and they dont try to squeeze every penny out of you

I’ve been going to this gym For over 10 years and I’ve just had numerous of problems with them, they double charge all the time and will never give you your money back, their staff is snobby and unapproachable and now that I’ve canceled and signed I’m still getting charged. All I’ve ever wanted to do is Pay, Workout, and go home.

Joke, I canceled my membership over a month ago due to injuries that won’t allow me to work out any more. I the day after I canceled I was charged my last monthly fee (according to the person whom helped me) here we are a month later and I just got charged again. I called the gym and they said no this is your last payment. I said no I was told last month was my last payment. The person on the phone said that I was misinformed and this month would be your last... what a joke, I have been down this road with companies who such as much out of you as they can get away with. I will not recommend golds gym to one friend or family member. I hope your 45.00 was well worth the bad publicity...

The gym is small compared to the newer golds gym and equipment is very very very run down and beaten up. This place has a lot of members so it is obvious that they have the budget for new and better equipment but that very much seems to not be a priority. Plus the sauna is coed and smells like chlorine. I'd rather drive the extra 10 minutes away to the other location since it's newer and cleaner.

Really glad I wake up at 330 to be here by 4 (the time this gym is supposed to open) ... only to find the gym doors locked, and the Opener sauntering in around 415. I guess I'll have to make the extra 10 min commute and go to the Cypress Creek one instead. Its cleaner there anyway. I dont feel like I'll get staph infections when I use their weights.
2 stars, only for the variety of weights and machines.

Great gym for body builders! They open at 4am and close at 11pm on most nights. No gym in the area can compete for amount of machines and amount of free weights. Equipment is rarely out of order - they fix things fast or replace with new.
