I definitely not recommend this gym. I had been membership for one year. At first I tried to cancel my membership while to call them. The stuff told me that I have to go to the gym to cancel. After that I went to the gym to cancel and the stuff told me that I have to paid extra month. That will be fine. One more month later they keep charging me for four month. At that point I can’t go over the gym that I call the bank to reverse the charge. But I still getting the bill from them. So they told me that I have to sign the cancellation form. But the point is they never give out the cancellation form for me. I refuse to paid. They offer me that will have 240 dollars credit if I keep the membership. I feel angry and refuse too. They give it to the credit collectors services. At the end I paid extra 5month about 186 dollars that credit service offer 50 dollar s discount. Don’t ever go this gym. They will charge you more when you cancel the membership.

Failed Customer Service, Breach in Contract, Average Equipment.

I came to Killeen on work from March 10th-April 27th 2019. I specifically stated this to Charlene, the sales representative, and asked her how I needed to plan cancellation to avoid unnecessary charges (not to be charged for time I wouldn't use.

Charlene wrongly instructed me to cancel my membership on March 27th to avoid excess charges. When I went to cancel on March 27th, another employee told me I was still going to pay on April 25th for a monthly charge.

I had specifically asked Charlene how to avoid an extra charge and instead of giving me the correct date (on or before March 24th to avoid April 25th billing), she told me to cancel on March 27th. Fail.

When I asked both the Assistant General Manager and General Manager for help, they promised to look into the issue with Charlene and then contact me via phone or email. They never contacted me; I had to return to them and seek them out instead of getting the answers they promised to deliver. Obviously, they don't value the customer.

I was initially lied to, then the AGM and GM didn't have the courtesy to tell me they couldn't help me as I had signed the contract. Breach of verbal contract (Charlene) and failed customer service from the executives. No wonder this place has issues; they have systematic failures with leadership.

Avoid this place, go to Crunch (like I should have), so you don't have to deal with the garbage at Gold's Gym Killeen.

I'm now having to take my time writing reviews about my horrible experience, as well as letters to Gold's Corporate and whoever above the GM and AGM will listen to me. Stay away!

**UPDATE: About two weeks after reaching to corporate leadership, I was contacted by an outstanding executive who is the Central Texas owner. He made things right, and promised to make personnel changes if necessary. Thank you for making the situation right! It’s January 2020 now but wanted to update to include all the facts.

I went here for a one day pass because I’m visiting from out of town. It was around $16 but seemed fair after seeing all the perks this gym has. It has a spacious weight machine area, pool, cardio section with stair climbers, and even a cinema cardio room with a large screen projector playing a movie in a dark setting while you get your cardio on. Very cool!

Killeen Golds is ok. It’s old and some of the equipment needs to be replaced. Also, it’s dirty and dusty. I don’t like the flat benches, the racks are uneven and too high. The barbells are destroyed, and some of the cables need work. Overall I can get my work out in if I don’t have the time to travel to Copperas Cove Golds. I just don’t prefer this location.

Nice little gym located in a convenient location. Lots cardio equipment, a good size amount of free weights, and weighted machines. The layout of the gym is very organized and they do manage the upkeep/cleanliness. The brilliant idea of a cardio/movie room is a nice feature. It does feature a pool and coed sauna.

Great facility, plenty of treadmills and cardio equipment. It has a main cardio area on the floor, a spin studio, another cardio area called the "cardio theater" where is dark and they play movies while you do your cardio. There are some clases, a pool, basketball court and plenty of machines. Locker rooms are roomy, have six individual shower until in the male locker room and three toilets. This is a good gym overall. I got a 3 day pass and liked it a lot. The environment was good, the energy was good, the staff was friendly. Only complaint is the price. A $30 a month membership rate for what you get is not very good. Plus a membership fee of another $50 when you initially sign up. Add another $10 a month for the body measurements calculator they have. In my opinion, its simply not worth the money. I do like they have a pool and sauna, which gets pretty hot. However, Crunch gym is right down the street and offers a lot more for less. Overall Crunch has a bigger gym, friendly staff, updated equipment, a daycare for kids, personal trainers, fitness classes, tanning, red light recovery therapy, and hydro massages all unlimited for the same exact price and a cheaper membership fee. Or access membership for 10 bucks. I hope golds will soon realize the cheaper they make their memberships, the more money they'll make..

Yeah, this gym is a joke. Started about a month and some change ago, I've been going here for about 2 months at that point and brought my friend to try it out to see if he and his girl would join up. Knew the process as I'd worked as a sales manager at another corporate location a short time ago, so figured he'd be given a tour and a day pass with no issues. The assistant general manager came out and told us that he would have had to apply online for a three day pass and otherwise would have to pay $16 for a day pass. I called him out on this (familiar with the MOSO system they use to generate leads and issue passes and it's a few button presses to give a day pass) and he doubles down, so I start going off. My friend figures he will just talk to the guy while I go warm-up. Turns out this guy calls my friend a "good kid" (he's 29) and tells the membership advisor to go ahead and give him a 45 minute tour. I didn't know about all this until after the workout but luckily the membership advisor had some sense. Of course, my friend has no desire to sign him or his girl up at that point, and I roll back in an hour later to cancel my membership. I knew that I had one additional month left on my contract so I paid up my last month and cancelled. Would have left well enough alone except a few days ago after confirming with the front desk that the cancellation was in the system, I get a nice charge for another month that I am under no obligation for. There are several other options in the area that I would consider before doing gold's gym if I were you, that are not only kept in better condition, but miles cheaper than what gold's has on offer.

Good place to work out. Lots of equipment to get your sweat one. They have a variety of classes to choose from. The hours are not that bad they have daycare you can pay additionally. The pool is available and have equipment you can use. The showers are big and well maintained. They have hair dryer on the female size and restroom are cleaned as well. They have a cardio cinema so if you want to watch a movie will you work out you can.

Applied for a 3 day pass, received a email from gold's stating I received a free pass. After the email I received a call asking what time I'm coming in to redeem it, told them the time and showed up WITH A TEXAS STATE ID. I don't have a membership here, but I have paid multiple times for a one-day pass as well as using the 5-day membership promo they gave out a couple years ago. I have some really mixed feeling about this gym to be honest. I think that I have never had a problem with the management and they have been kind enough to show me all the machinery and give me tours so that I know where everything is so that I could utilize the gym to its fullest advantage, but I also feel like you are paying A LOT of money for what you are getting out of it. Its a very expensive gym which means it may not be for everyone. I pay a lot of money just for a day pass so I can attest to it being really costy. I have never experience faulty machinery here which is a major plus for me since I hate not being able to work out on something that I specifically have in my plan for the day. Another con, however, is that the pool's cleanliness has always been pretty questionable to me. I know for sure that it used to be kind of gross when I used to swim all the time, but I heard recently that its a lot cleaner and gets filtered regularly so I will have to check that out sometime. Overall, I think this gym is a place where you might get slightly less than what you paid for but I haven't utilized every feature yet either like the trainers and classes so I can't speak for everything.

I had the craziest experience at golds today I had signed up last year for training sessions 12 of them , I had family issue that led me to travel to ny for couple month I came in this morning to find out that I have 0 sessions in the system, I spend almost 1000$ on those sessions. I have been a member for 5 years at this location and only because it’s the only gym that has the equipment that I need. Yet it’s sooooo dirty and something is always broken. It takes months to repair. They even charge a $50 anual fee for their mainatenane. No other gym I have been to ever charges that. Where is this money going because I can guarantee not the gym. I went to Gold gym for almost 3 years. It was probably the worst gym experience I have had. The gym is very crowded most of the time. That can be overlooked but their terrible customer service cannot. The staff are not friendly and the trainers are extremely rude. I had a confrontation with one and made a complaint to the management. Management said it was handled but the trainer was still rude and standoffish. I ended up cancelling right before my deployement and have noticed they are still charging me for a membership not used. I had my wife talk to the employees but they claim they cannot do a thing and I will most likely not get a refund. It is a shame, I like using Golds when I travel for business because they are practically everywhere and other Golds gyms are usually friendly but I refuse to give any business to the Killeen Golds. Becareful before choosing them, read other reviews, as you can see complaints are quite common and consistent.

I've been going to this gym going about over 3 years now. It's just a gym, but certainly not a "gold's standard".

Brittany Watson, the lady at front desk that always greets you in the morning with a big smile is exceptionally great! She's always hassle free and friendly every time, all the time. Aside from Brittany, James Pek has distinguished himself as a top notch trainer that clearly takes his position serious. He is very approachable and will set aside time to address all concerns.

The staff on the weekends in the moring are the complete opposite. I've never been impressed with Linda.

My absolute worst experience was in the nursery with Sharlene Cruz... She has a very long way to go when it comes to customer service and I hope she figures life out if she ever plans on amounting to anything positive in it. I don't feel the need to address my situation pertaining to the incident I experienced with her for I have addressed this to her supervisor and the GM.

I walked into Gold’s Gym in Killeen this morning with my boyfriend who had been a member at this location for years with the intentions of checking it out prior to purchasing an membership (I had been contemplating doing so for weeks since that’s where he went and it was convenient in location). I had downloaded the free pass offered on the gyms website and was going to use it for my first visit. When I presented it to the lady behind the counter I was informed in a short matter of fact tone that she would not honor it and that if I was “actually”interested in a membership I could come back at 9 and speak to Lynn. Now mind you I’ve heard several stories prior to this concerning the poor customer service at this location but had decided to check it out regardless and form my own opinion. Needless to say I will be looking for somewhere else to spend my money.

Went to check out the gym, interested in new membership. I walk in and ask the two employees at the desk "May I check out the gym" the guys tells me there aren't any fitness consultants in. I then ask may I take a peek he says "no" and then continues to run his mouth with the other employee and another female who I'm assuming was a gym member. It was obvious they were having small talk. I'm not understanding if there were two employees at the desk why the male employee (whom I asked) couldn't just walk around and take a look with me. I am very disappointed in the management of this Gold's location. I was so excited to sign up right away because I had the best experience with Gold's in St. Cloud, FL. Golds was so wonderful, because as a mom I was able to keep my body healthy and in shape without snall chikdren being underfoot. It was nice to have at least one hour of my day to be for me. We had an issue with the chikdcare toward the beginning of our contract. When I had gone to pick up my baby he was next to the counter crying by himself. When I looked for the care giver she was nowhere to be seen. She didnt even know I was there. When I called out and anounced that I was in the room she appeared. Turned out she was in the infant area, behind a wall which hid her from sight, prohibiting her to see anyone that walked in to pick up their child. So my child was left by himself, screaming. I wasbt hapoy about that, and then secondly it really concerned me that I coulf have just reached over the door to pick my baby up and left and nobody would have known who took him. I could have been anybody! I stopped going to Golds. The manager explained that he "couldnt" end my contract due to this, even though i explained that I woukd NOT ve coming back. He was perfectly okay with Golds sucking money out of my account every month while I did not attend for months. I recently had baby 4, and since my older kids are out of school for the summer I felt that it would be okay to have my 2nd youngest in childcare with my older ones there with him. I talked to the manager and explained that my 2 month old, who is exclusively breastfed needs to be with me at all times. She is too young for childcare anyways. I asked if I could have her in class with me if she were in her stroller. He explained that their insurance policy would not cover that. Fine. I then asked what I should do because I am paying for my membership and there are 4 months I cannot attend since my baby can neither be in childcare nor be with me according to their rules. He let me know that there would just be a period of time where I would still have to pay and not be attending. I asked him, "so basically I just have to suck it up for 4 months," and he replied, "yes." He then explained I could get a doctors note explaining I cannot attend the gym for 4 months and I would not have to pay for that time. When I said thank you and that I would just go that route. He replied "It is actually a lot harder to get than you think." Seriously? I have not been to Golds in several months anr my contract ends in Sept. I am SO disappointed that the Golds management has been perfectly fine knowing what has been going on the whole time and has been perfectly okay sucking money out of my account month after month. I cannot wait for my contract to end.

I have been going to this gym for almost 3 years now. I am disappointed to be writing this review, as I am a very loyal person and I try my hardest not to complain on be irrational. I have been putting off writing this for a while now in hopes that things would have a turn for the better. For the past several months, I have been noticing more and more machines going out of order for long periods of time. The Jacobs Ladder has been broken for the better part of 2 months now straight, and more times than not when I come in, the most popular cardio machines - the stair steppers - are continuously out of order. There are 5 stair steppers and on the average, 3 are out of order. They stay out of order for a week or so at a time. It is a known fact that Gold's Gym is not the cheapest gym. When we as members pay for membership here, we are expecting quality above other gyms. I would like to continue going to Gold's in Killeen, but if these machines continue to go out at the rate they are, I won't have any choice but to change gyms - as my main goal in going to the gym is working out.

I signed a year contract last august and attended the gym everyday for 2 months with only one issue, the late fee being charged the day the membership payment is due....that's ridiculous. In the middle of the 3rd month I found I was pregnant and that my pregnancy was high risk. When I spoke with staff about freezing my membership for my pregnancy I was told it takes over a month to freeze and that I had to be requesting a minimum of 6 months to freeze and basically they just kept bsing and not giving me an answer or helping me. Now its May, the manager of the Cove location informed me that they were wrong at the Killeen location and she could not only freeze my membership but she could back date it and get me a refund for the payments back to october. They ended my contract since the freeze would pass my contract end date and then the Killeen manager called and said they approved a refund for 108$ I told him I spent over 330$ that I was told would be refunded and he said they were being generous with the 108$ which I obviously disagree with bc not only did I spend more than that but after my account was canceled they charged my bank account again and took me negative 63$ with the overdraft fee and if they refund the 108$ I will only see 45$ of it 😡😡😡 I will never go back. I will never recommend them and I can tell you I am not the only person who has been through this. They only care about money.

Several pieces of equipment are run down, including the back row of treadmills. One stopped on me while running! When I brought it to the attention of management, I was told that that row was full of poor equipment and that people had often complained about it. That equipment should have been tagged for nonuse until repaired or replaced in my humble opinion.

Gym is good with great benefits. Rules suck, no guest pass, late fee is a bit excessive. Staff is a lot better than 1 year ago. I believe members should be discounted if a certain facility cannot be used i.e. Sauna and Pool. Other than that it's a good gym with a decent atmosphere.

I have always been uncomfortable with the idea of going to a gym. I have aspergers and crowded places make me nervous. I have a service dog to help me with my challenges. The staff and everyone is kind and helpful while we both adjust to the new environment.
