I'm a veteran and have been to multiple gyms all over but this gym is bad!!!! Equipment is always broken!!!! Cars get broken into!!!! I brought my son with me to play basketball and they told me he needs to have a membership to play basketball with me. He's 11!!! I wasn't allowed to sign him in as a guest so after paying for over a year of membership I was turned away by my own gym. This place has gotten worse and worse the whole last year I've been a member and I'll be glad when Crunch opens they're new location so I don't have to put up with these stupid rules or broken machines!!

I started going to this golds at the beginning of 2021. The gym has always been my second home, I would’ve never thought it would come down to this. I took a year off from golds and got a crunch membership in 2023 because of a particular person at this gym, that the GM Irvin seems to want to protect and not ban even though multiple woman have come forward to make a complaint about how uncomfortable he makes them and I’m tired of it. I made a complaint about him way over a year ago and was disappointed nothing happened, hence going to crunch for a year. Came back in June of 2024 thinking it wouldn’t be the same because so much time has passed. I went back to the gym but changed my schedule to only going at 5am, plus i had him blocked on all of my social media. But boy was i wrong. He continues to trying talking to me when i give him absolutely no reason to and only approaches me when im alone in the studio or outside the gym in other public places. At this point it’s board line harassment. This guy needs to be banned and the GM needs to take accountability for the disappointing actions he’s taken to resolve this issue. Never will i return unless Rowell is banned and Irvin is relieved from his position.

The staff is attentive, caring, and a joy to interact with. Always helpful and welcoming. I enjoy practicing tennis strokes in the racquetball room, soaking in the hot tub, and sweating in the sauna. I am a little concerned with the maintenance of keeping the hot tub safe and clean especially for us to continue enjoying it with our membership since it seems the amenities at all the other Gold’s I can drive to don’t work and are shut down. The one that UT students frequent has a beautiful sauna. I went in the steam room and immediately walked out because it looked moldy. They don’t have a hot tub either. So I would like to make sure the hot tub stays in great, safe, and clean condition at this location. I have a shower in my apartment and not having Epsom salt baths is so hard but the hot tub brings me some relief (: thank you guys for all that you do. The facility is also pretty clean and organized when I come too. Gotta love that.

I’m a brand new Golds Gym member. I took advantage of the $1 sign up and came in the 1st to fully activate and start my membership. I cannot tell you how much anxiety I felt as most first timers feel when coming into any gym. James didn’t even give me time to panic lol His warmth energy and kindness confirmed I was definitely in the right place. He didn’t just take my picture and wash his hands of my membership. I will add that I’m a plus size girl and when I asked him if he had any trainers with experience in helping someone of my size his words were “What size? Where to start? I'm a USAF veteran who's been in distress for about 2 weeks, I walked in the gym hoping to lift myself out of a dark place mentally, JAMES greeted me with the brightest attitude when me and my family walked in and gave me a guest pass on my brothers membership. He showed me a couple machines, getting me out of my head and motivating me to start working out. I’ve been a member here for about 10 years, and I can’t say enough great things about the staff in the morning! The customer service is top-notch – everyone is incredibly helpful, professional, and friendly. People transition in and out, but Senovia at the front desk has been a sustained positive presence at this location. Some of the staff genuinely take the time to get to know you ranging from Chris and the do-it-all handyman Kim (such a hard worker), which creates such a welcoming and comfortable environment. Whether it’s answering questions, giving workout tips, or just saying hello with a smile, they go above and beyond to make every visit a positive experience. Highly recommend this gym only with these individuals to anyone looking for a supportive and personable fitness community!

The gym itself is horrible. Everything is always broken for a long time. They are slow to add anything or more updated equipment. The layout of the equipment is designed by people who have never worked out in this place. For example, the barbell rack needs to be turned broadside towards the mirror so it’s easier for people to grab stuff and ease of movement. It’s just more convenient. Judging from the lack of attention to detail with what I just mentioned, simple things like restocking paper towels and sanitization spray seems to never be done in the pm because they are usually out by the am. More and more the status quo gets lower and lower on the standards of what is actually acceptable.

I only stay for the staff I mentioned earlier and I will eventually give my money to another gym because I have watched numerous general managers come in and not do anything to improve the gym because I’m sure the bonuses are tied to what you use to spend on fixes throughout the year. The system is built to never improve anything and do as little as possible to make it better than you left it because the financial incentives are encouraging the management to never improve anything. This is based on what I’ve seen for the better part of the decade.

The parking lot always has trash everywhere. There are always car break-ins yet they refuse to add better lighting or anything to help the situation other than signs saying not to leave your belongings in your vehicle. I get it, car break-in’s are normal. The organization doesn’t even bother cleaning up the broken glass. Some weeks you will see multiple piles of broken glass throughout the parking lot. That’s a big indicator of a complete lack of care with these easy examples.

Eighteen months ago I wanted to cancel my membership. You can't do it on-line, so I went to this location and asked what I needed to do to cancel it. They told me to use the terminal at the desk, which I did. I canceled the membership and on my way out I asked "is that it"? and they replied "You're all set". The cancelation must have gone through because for the next two months I was bombarded with spam e-mails, spam texts, and spam phone calls asking me to renew my membership. Six months after I canceled it, I started getting calls from a collection company, saying I never canceled my Gold's membership and owed two months membership fees. At no time did Gold's EVER contact me about this. I explained the situation and told them if they sent me proof that I owed the money, I'd look at it, but they declined to send me anything (shock). Now I get weekly calls from Aldis and Associates demanding payment of my "debt" and threats to damage my credit rating if I don't pay. I guess they're just used to people giving in to their blackmail to avoid the hassle. There are too many other cheaper, better, and far more honest gyms out there. Don't get caught by this scam, join a different one.

Gym is ok, some areas you can tell they don’t clean and at night the guy who usually closes always starts to turn off the tv an hour before closing time, it’s so annoying I be watching tv and there he comes shutting everything off I get he wants to close on time but really an hour before. And the girls locker there is some lady that always leaves her things in one of the changing area the only private one and leave to go do her thing. It’s like she owns the spot, that’s why there is lockers there should be a sign to put your belongings in a locker of your going to go and work out

I have been going to this location since november of 23', so let me start off by saying that The customer service, is service of the highest regard and always on point, they are always smiling and helpful, & even the personal trainers are as well, when they can spare the breath. I love the location and the people I've met but I may look elsewhere in terms of cleanliness. The location itself is a great convenience, however the machines are always dirty or broken and the restrooms are always the same. I tried using the restroom to shower once and big mistake, black grime and bugs littered the ceiling and floors. I find it frustrating that I pay so much monthly and machines are always broken or things are always missing ( pads, etc...)

This gym is just living off what it used to be. Had a ton of people sign up when they first opened, and that’s all they really needed. No updates, no upgrades, machines are always broken and take way too long to get repaired, water fountains are always out of order, fitness connection down the street has an indoor basketball court, way more equipment, a way more updated facility, and they only charge $10 a month. I pay $40 for this gym to always be filthy with broken equipment with about 70% of the paper towel machines being broken at a time to.

EDIT: I would like to point out that the staff is great. It’s just crazy to go try out a gym that is $30 less per month with a gym full of working machines and significantly more amenities.

I really love this gym. I started at the Culebra location but it was always so packed and the group classes were always full. I tried Legacy because all the group class times were perfect and there were open spots AND they had a SAUNA!!!! Yes!
The gym is clean, staff is incredibly friendly and it’s not overly packed. The only reason I took a star off was because the bikes in the spin class are not great. There are maybe five bikes that work well and I feel safe on. I’m still going to go to the classes because the instructors are AMAZING but I’m hoping they have plans to get new bikes.

While this gym is older, the age can be seen in some of the equipment and the building. This gym has everything that you need to get started with your exercise goals. Some machines are not in the best condition, but in my short time here, I have seen the current manager work to improve the equipment and the total gym experience for all customers. They have ensured any voiced complaints are cared for as soon as possible. I have had a very good time coming to this gym and do not have any complaints!

I like the gym and location but not a big fan of having my truck broken into. This parking lot always has broken glass in the lot. They got into my truck at around 530pm. Probably someone sitting in the gym watching out. After paying $400 for a new window and replacing everything out of my stolen wallet the last two weeks I will probably never return. Maybe leave your doors unlocked and take everything inside with you and enjoy your workout while these pest go through your belongings. Good luck

I swear all information the info y’all give out is misleading all the stuff and how you do. It is very shady. I cancelled my membership in a time to where I wouldn’t be billed another cycle. Made sure call that called up to 2 different locations to make sure and hear you are still trying to charge me and trying to overcharge me, and even though I have my letter, even though I have the email you’re still gonna try to charge me and even though I went now when you put in your debit entry, and I’m assuming that this is done purposefully to get another cycle out of somebody and I’m trying to tell me the same thing again. I went with my boyfriend and his friend to Gold’s Gym in Potranco and I was really disappointed. The assistant manager was talking down to my boyfriend as if he didn’t know what he was talking about. She offered no solution or other option when instead she harassed us to call the number for his insurance linked to his gym membership. This is unprofessional and does not reflect the standards of proper management. I will not be returning to this location, and I especially won’t go to any gym that harasses and belittles my boyfriend.

If I could leave zero stars I would. Not only have I had issues with this gym in the past but I continue to still have issues. I tried to go in and workout with a friend and my girlfriend and not only did the lady say my membership was canceled but she said that it was canceled back in March. I signed up at a way better golds on valley hi and by far it is my favorite location yet. The assistant general manager needs to learn how to not be snippy and learn that even though some things happen they could at least offer some sort of other option. Not only was this embarrassing but it was aggravating. Worst golds gym in history.

Good location, alot of equipment is starting to show its age. Alot of younger members, so there are some general ettiguete shortages, but that's more the people than the gym. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Gym is cleaner than most I've seen. It's a good spot to get your sweat on. Just bring some patience for the young ones.

If I wanted to see black mold on the AC vents, I’d go to planet fitness. I pay a premium to come here and expect a level of quality. This location drops the ball in a lot of ways. AC hasn’t worked properly for a while. Temperatures are at least 80F inside and humidity just as high. Machines are not kept in tip-top shape. Maybe others are fine with low quality from a high quality name, but I’m not fine with that. Wish this rating could give 0 out of 5.

General Manager is outstanding! All Staff are there ready to help even at the least minute. So refreshing to see this kind of service still exists. Facility is very clean and welcoming.

Next time you go to the gym look up at the AC units they’re not clean. The machines were missing the knobs to adjust the weight. The exercise machine were squeaky like they get all the used Gold’s machines from the other locations.

Staff are welcoming and professional and the atmosphere is positive, but some of the equipment is subpar.
The elipticals are dirty (on the pedals and on the incline/decline component) a.m. and p.m. and some are tarnished and have calcium deposit.
Ropes for cable machines are frayed and need replacement.
A few of the barbell weights used for bicep curling are busted.
No basketballs to sign out... not sure if this applies to raquetballs and raquets either.
Leaks from the ceiling that result in puddles on the floor.
I really love this place, but it could use some improvement.

This is an okay Gold’s Gym, definitely not my favorite. Mostly because the basketball court is outdoors. They do have a cardio cinema room if you’re into that. But when it comes to wheat selection, I give it a solid four out of five.

Not the best gym. I don’t feel like this location is kept very well. 1. There’s hardly any dumbbells lower than 40lb which is frustrating for a petite woman like me. 2. Needs the deadlift rack to help raise and load the bar for deadlifts- again hard for petite lady who wants to deadlift heavy 3. All the cable handles are practically in threads , need to be replaced 4. The cardio machines are dusty and filthy 5. The punching bag just got torn up super disappointing I just bought new gloves to punch with hopefully it gets replaced soon 6. You’ll be lucky to find any collars to use

This is a good gym, and this may be every commercial gym in San antonio but it was packed making it harder to get a good routine going. Very clean and has everything you need to get in shape!

I love this gym and THEIR pool! I did have a small issue once which I brought up to management but they resolved it super quick!… Wish I could remember the managers name… it’s the big guy! Lol thanks again!

I go in the early am and the staff is super nice before I went to goals I thought it was like a “bro gym “ and I thought I was gunna feel like a weenie but honestly everyone is chill and keeps to themselves and I don’t ever feel like a weird ego I’m better than you vibe from anyone I would give it 5 stars but there’s a lot of stuff that needs updating with all that money they make it would be nice to see that go into the equipment and for the love of good get ride of the racquet ball court I’ve only seen 1 lady ever play on it and I’ve been going for 40 days that space would be a great stead for free weights or literally anything else but a game I played in prison

#(On that Grind) got my workout's done there's lots of machines to use. busier hours are around 12pm-11pm closing but for the most part employees are super cool if you have any questions.

If you are looking for a place that will give you the tools to have a healthier life, I suggest giving it a shot. Below is my personal experience.

I came to this gym with little expectations because it is a chain of gyms. However I was really surprised by how personal my introduction was. When I came in, I was greeted and all the staff took care to explain how to make the gym work for my fitness goals. I was given a tour by Aaron Smith, who also took the time to explain the safety policies and how to keep the gym clean. When I expressed my concerns of being 4'10" and having the usual Navy veteran joint and shoulder problems, he suggested that I talk to the personal trainer Rosealy Cruz because she was tough, but also was skilled in making the workouts work for me.

There was a deal to 3 training sessions at a discount, and after talking to her, I felt like it was what I needed. She showed me modifications for the equipment, such as using a yoga block when I was too short at a machine. She also took the extra time to work on my form so I could prevent injury. I still use some of the workouts she gave and I am glad for the openness of the staff when I was unsure of what to do next.

While all places have their off days, I found that this gym felt like a home. I went from just wanting to run a beer mile to having the confidence and tools to try new things and see about hitting new muscle weight goals. It also gave me the confidence to pursue professional modeling because I finally felt proud of my body for the work I had put in.

There are cheaper places out there, but this gym is worth the investment because they have the skills, equipment, and knowledge to help you thrive. When you go to check it out, ask questions, and be open about where you are and what your goals are. If at the end you choose another gym, at least you gained some knowledge from people who care.

This gym has gone downhill recently.. Dumbells are going missing daily, started with 10 lbs, there's literally one 10 lb dumbell. Where are they going and how is nobody noticing when people walk out with them? Now the 15 lbs dumbells are missing. The cables attachments also are disappearing, the few that are left are kept behind the front desk and we have to ask for them when we want to use them, it's helping evade the thievery but it's still annoying. It's been months now without the lower weight dumbells and they are not being replaced by management. People move the benches and their never moved back, the free weight area today only had about 3 benches. Are there no employees cleaning up and organizing? Clearly if they're not organizing they're also not sanitizing and I know people don't always wipe down their equipment. I go first thing in the morning so obviously the gym is not organized at the end or beginning of the day also So many times towel machines aren't refilled.Just seems management isn't managing. I will soon be moving to a different gym up the street, a little more money but I hear good things

This is a busy gym. But all the staff is friendly. The manager is great! They gave us some great input to get started with. The gym is clean, it doesn't seem to have that gym smell. It's overall pretty great.
