The sauna in the women’s locker room has been broken since before Easter. They have had a note taped to the door for months and months but despite the comments in these reviews saying they are “diligently working” on it, nothing is being done and no updates are being given to members. It’s really sad bc it’s a part of what we pay for, and the men’s locker room still has access to theirs so it’s only women who don’t get a sauna here. Pool never opened again after closing years ago, golds gym is slowly losing all extra amenities but price is not lowering

I switched to this Gold's Gym because of the sauna. I used to be at Planet Fitness and now I've been waiting 3 months for them to repair the sauna floor. It seems like too long for that type of repair. I've been to other Gold's Gyms and most of them don't have a sauna and the ones that do aren't as good as this one was before. I hope they pay attention to the needs of those of us who pay for our membership.

I’ve been a loyal member of this Gold’s Gym location for 3 years, and it’s really disheartening to see the quality decline. As a single mom of four, my time is limited—but I always looked forward to 20 quiet minutes in the women’s sauna to decompress and reset.

Unfortunately, the sauna has now been closed for almost 2 months. I’ve been patient and understanding, knowing things happen—but now I’m being told it may not be repaired and could be shut down indefinitely. That’s really disappointing, especially for those of us who rely on that small part of our day for mental and physical wellness.

It’s even more frustrating knowing I’m not paying a $10 budget membership fee like at other gyms in the area—I expected better. I truly hope management reconsiders the importance of this amenity, not just as a luxury, but as a needed space for people like me who count on it as part of our routine and self-care.

Please bring back the sauna and the care this gym once had.

B E C A R E F U L ... If you care about your money, don't join this gym. They continued to charge my son even after he cancelled his membership in person before the renewal date. The staff lied to my son and didn't tell him that there would be additional charges even AFTER he cancelled his membership. The manager would not transfer us to corporate customer service, would not freeze my son's account without an ADDITIONAL FEE, and would not return the additional $40 charge that they made AFTER the cancellation. What A SCAM. Now we have to take it up with the bank, call corporate, and leave negative reviews to warn other people. It's amazing how poor Gold's Gym San Antonio Lockhill Village at 2323 Lockhill Selma Rd, San Antonio, TX 78230 treats their members. And, other family members of ours have been members there in the past. We've never had this kind of NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE with AnyTime Fitness, The JCC or with any other gym. My recommendation is to stay away from Gold's Gym.

Decent equipment but the people here are very inconsiderate.. just today I waited 30 whole minutes for someone to finish their turn on the leg extensions so i could finish my workout and I ended up leaving before they did.. and they didnt speak english so i couldnt say anything, neither here nor there theres only one of every machine and people will waste so much time on their phones or doing who knows what and youll end up standing around waiting alot. And the attachments and dumbells are old and have worn out grips, some of the handle pairs are missing the other handle. This gym could seriously use some work but someone told me moneys tight for this location. Atleast the staff are very nice, and the equipment is broad enough for any workout.

I recently had an incredibly disappointing experience at this Gold’s Gym. In addition to getting fired abruptly and in an unprofessional manner, this area is increasingly becoming more and more crime ridden. Keep your guard up when visiting. The pool will never open again. The AC will never work properly in the summer, nor winter for that matter. Every product in this gym can be purchased for cheaper at the HEB just up the road. Payment methods are slow and outdated. As a gym, it’s at the lower end of middle-of-the-pack compared to other gyms in the area.

It's really hot in this gym. Stop trying to save money and make it a comfortable temperature to work out. Really turned off by the fact that there is an area off limits that has all the workout equipment I want to use. Asked about being able to use it and it’s required to pay for a class and personal trainer.

I normally go to Golds on Bulverde but come to this one several times a week to avoid that morning traffic as I work close by this location. I don’t mind the workout area being warm but I can’t deal with the locker area being warm. I saw a review from 2 months ago where someone complained about this and the managers response was that the a/c was being worked on. Is it still being worked on 2 months later? I asked front desk about this and they said it’s due to the sauna being in locker area. Bulverde Golds is also in the locker area and it’s not hot in there. Besides this issue, everything else in this gym is nice. Not too crowded when I go. Hopefully this can be fixed soon or I’ll have to try my luck at a different gym.

Was mainly looking for pool use so asked to see it...they let me go in...very warm inthe pool room no A.C. also i spoke to a few people and they said the water temp is usually too cold which in summer can be tolerable but not when it cools down so i didn't join... the Gold's Gym I used to go to had a great pool perfect water temperature and was kept very clean but they shut the pool down during covid and said they weren't going to be opening it back up so was looking for a new place to call Pool home guess no luck here darn it but the gym looked pretty good and clean and the front counter people were very nice

I had been a member since 2004, but Gold’s has really gone downhill. They closed the Golds at Brookhollow which was my favorite and I was forced to go to this one. So much smaller with loud music at times, and no women’s area. I have to watch the treadmills like a hawk in order to snag an available one. Recently it has been super hot with temps over 100 and it is not cool enough! I come out out of my workout drenched! With fees that are much higher than other gyms, you’d expect a cool and comfortable gym. All these reasons and more is why I have decided to cancel my membership.

My favorite Gold's in town. Always clean and my machines are available. One point of criticism is that the GoldFit area (for premium members) starts playing EXTREMELY loud music around 9am, so loud that it nearly drowns out music in the main gym and even makes it hard to hear podcasts from my earbuds. Playing multiple loud songs at once in this manner is a well-documented CIA torture tactic used in South America, Guantanamo Bay, and in the war crimes committed at Abu Ghraib. Is this really a legacy Gold's Gym wants to be a part of? Why not turn the music in the main gym off when GoldFit classes are in session? Is a part of what those members pay for hearing loss?

I’ve been working out at this gym for 4 years now Ive never had an issue other then today I was taking a picture of myself in front of the mirror in the locker room and this old lady comes up to me and tells me that I’m not allowed to take pictures here, I told her that I’m taking a picture of myself and you’re not in it, she asked me to show my phone to her which I did and she goes to front desk to complain about me and I went to talk to a manager as well the guy there told me that there’s no manager and he was super rude he told me to scan my bar code because he wants to write a complaint about me because of the old lady and I told him that I’m complaining about her because of human harassment he tells me to scan my bar code to cancel my membership and I told him that I’m not canceling my membership I didn’t do anything wrong and he was kept telling me to scan my bar code for him to cancel my membership also 2 years ago the front desk guy started stalking me on social media which that was against the hippa for using my information they have my address and everything there what kind of gym is this ?

I joined earlier this month (January 2023). The staff here are amazing. Ms. Kelly, GM has been great to answer all my questions and concerns. I got an awesome complimentary appt January 13 2023 with personal trainer, Bri. I had a delayed start and started my new routine yesterday January 28 and forgot what exact machines to use. Some machines look the same to me. As embarrassing as this was, I asked the front desk person Evan for help on which machine to use. I was expecting a verbal answer. Well, thankfully it did not seem so embarrassing. Evan is a Champ. He walked over to the two machines and clarified to me which of the two machines to use and showed me the other machines listed on my workout form and reminded me how to use the Tricep Ext. While waiting for my corporate membership to be processed and before my workout appointment, I managed to squeeze in some cardio workouts to get a feel for the place. The front desk staff say “ Have a Great workout” and that’s just so encouraging. I have to say overall the energy of this location feels so positive. I can’t imagine going anywhere else. Thank you to the awesome staff at Golds Gym Lockhill Selma for making going there pleasant and positive.

Christy helped me with multiple issues regarding my account in the most opposite manner I’ve been experiencing in every other Gold’s Gym location I visit. Christy should be what Gold’s associates should strive to emulate with her concern for customer relations, technical proficiency, and ability to own the issue and see it through to the end, successfully resolved. Every other associate (even managers) have had the quick assumptions and pushback in relying on recommendations towards apps, whereas my device specifically lacks the ability to function with, this is frustrating especially when I lose my key chain bar code. I understand we live in a technological age where we’re SO used to relying on apps for everything, but majority of the time, associates aren’t doing much at the front and make it seems as if I burden them if I lost my key chain. Christy was extremely accepting of my situation, immediately sympathized to the situation, and resolved not only this issue but also another that a different location/associate couldn’t handle or was not trained on. Christy needs to be commended and acknowledged by her peers in representing what an amazing worker IS and emphasized on hospitality and stellar customer service that most of San Antonio lost not so long after the pandemic!

The gym isn't that big, but, there's a decent amount of elliptical machines, free weitghs, and weitgh machines. Doesn't seem to get too packed, which is good.

I didn't see a single machine with the "out of service" tag I've seen in other gold's gym in SA.

The best thing about this gym is that the men's bathrooms are sterile enough for a hospital delivery room, no joke.

Staff isn't receptive for people entering or leaving. They just sit there and stare at their phones.

Lastly, best 2nd best thing about this gym is the location. Across the street is a michoacana meatmarket, and they have to go food, which after a hard sweat, is well earned 😃

A real bunch of crooks, they absolutely want your bank references to automatically take you every month even if you don't go to the gym, that's a thief system.

One sure way to make sure you don't get any new members is to have someone at the front desk who is totally disinterested in obtaining new business. I don't care that there is no sales persons in the building at 10:30am at least be nice courteous and the slightest bit welcoming to someone who is inquiring about the process of becoming a member. For starters, I asked to UPGRADE my membership, when I found out they had military discount, I asked to get it Plus upgrade my membership. But the man ended up telling me that they would need to recharge me the initial fee, and I wouldn't get credit for all the months being charged for no military membership.

I just cancelled my account. Going somewhere else that they care more about the clients than the money.

I love this place! The staff here is amazing! They care about you and your goals. There are so many different amenities and classes to join. I always feel right at home. It was really important i had childcare as well and the care team and playroom is wonderful!! Fully stocked shake bar, apparel, drinks, protein, tons of equipment, swimmimg pool, hot tub, & a full schedule of classes everyday to try as well. I am really enjoying my membership here! Defintely glad I joined! 💓

I love this place. The trainers, Bri, Jake, Amed, Cris are fantastic. This is my happy place. They, along with fellow members, keep me motivated to complete my workouts and push harder than I ever would on my own.

Been a long time member and have had the worse experience with management and staff due to medical issue, mind you with a Dr's note. Management would not return my calls staff would "accidentally" hang up on me everytime I called. Staff said I didn't go in and fill paper necessary work even though I went in with my carbon copies I filled out. My bank account being charged while unauthorized. Just poor poor service and customer service from this gym. I did have some luck with the Assistant Manager, however have just been majorly turned off by this gym and especially since I had to go in to get any answers or anything done. I will be moving my membership to another gym that is not Golds!!!
